Pros: I bought this kit for my Surface Pro 3 to make it possible to have an Ethernet connection AND a USB-->Serial going at the same time - I use a GoldX cable plugged into the passthrough USB, works perfectly. Takes all the hassle out of using a Surface to program switches and routers. I have since bought a couple more for my Controls people that are programming buildings and production lines with the same Ethernet/Serial combo, and will have to buy more as I deploy more of the Surface units. The Controls folks have also used the video out dongles to do on-site training for customers, driving big displays for multiple users to view.
Cons: I would be fine with the tether being half as long, kind of floppy as it is.
Other Thoughts: Great combo of features, and good pricing.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: StarTech MDP2HDMI Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Video Adapter Converter
Pros: I bought one of these for a Surface Pro 2 user, will now have to buy more for other Pro 2/Pro 3 users. It was reasonably priced and completely compatible, and is miles ahead of the driver pain of a USB -> HDMI converter. Since the little Surface's have only one USB, getting the MDP to do all the work is definitely the way to go.
Cons: Not free? I dunno, I'm still a little goosey about "off brand" devices, then I look around my office and see at the StarTech bits and pieces I have that work as expected, and then I feel better about things.
Other Thoughts: Works as expected, and will be buying more.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ORICO HPC-2A4U 2-outlet Surge Protector with 5V/7A/35W 4 Port USB Station with Intelligent Charging IC for iPhone 6 5s 5c; iPad; Galaxy S5 S4; Note 3 2; HTC One; Nexus and most USB-Charged devices
Pros: I've got a number of jobsite trailers supporting 5-40 people, and keeping everyone's phones and tablets charged is no small task. Since power strips are a requirement for other equipment, it is very VERY handy to also have a bank for charging 4 mobile devices at a time, without hogging up regular power connections with charging blocks.
Cons: I wish there were 4-6 more "universal" 110v power outlets on this device, for not a lot more money per unit I could have used these devices exclusively on site, and not had to send out another half-dozen power strips for each trailer. This seems more focused on home use where each person has a phone needing charging.
Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend, either for home or work use, but you'll still need conventional power strips.READ FULL REVIEW
