Pros: Intel quality. Intel validation. Intel.
It works, its fast and its fast.
Cons: Slightly more expensive than other drives. See comment below why I still choose this drive.
Other Thoughts: Yes, you can buy another SSD for same capacity and maybe even slightly faster for $20-30 less.
I would rather pay a slight premium for this Intel product. Why? $20 is nothing compared to the downtime if a firmware fails, yes Intel isn't completely innocent on this front either in the past, but no one can deny they put more effort into validation and debugging.
As for the extra speed on some of the other drives? Does it really matter? Will you really notice the difference? Plus, life is always a tradeoff, assuming they're using similar chips (e.g., Micron/Crucial and Intel drives chips come from the same Fab), it's the controller / firmware that is different. And firmware can always be tuned towards more performance or reliability. I choose reliability.
