Pros: Big. Pretty. Clear & crisp display. Price was right. Choice of input modes. Stable stand.
Cons: At factory settings, this monitor looks washed out. Also, the colors it's displaying seem way too yellow.
I tried to adjust this manually, which should be easy, but it isn't! Had to go find and download a manual from online, then find the right page, but the instructions are not very clear. 2 eggs off because of extreme difficulty in making user-specified adjustments to the display. BUTTONS are not even marked!
It's still VERY hard to get this to adjust color settings (haven't succeeded yet). Manual doesn't really explain very well how to make this happen. I'm stuck for the moment with washed-out and too-yellow display.
The last Acer monitors I got several years ago were intuitively easy to adjust.
Other Thoughts: 2+ eggs off for the poor user interface and bad manual. Factory settings TOO Yellow and look faded (washed-out)! If I could rate this 2 1/2, that's what it should be.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Antec Sonata Series SOLO II Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros: Case went together beautifully. Clean edges, all neatly finished. Elegant minimal look. (with caveat on the power switch LED)
Sound proofing on side panels & etc.
Nice ventilation; very nice removable filters.
Everything runs cool only with fan that came with.
Top mount psu.
Cons: Pretty but big. Probably overpriced. They almost got it, but missed a few design & engineering details.
1. Front panel is not ALL aluminum, perhaps part of it is.
2. Front panel has a slight rattle, audible a6 2 feet away. There probably should be a hinge in the middle, as well as on the top & bottom.
Very Un-pleased about door rattle. Will have to cure that some way.
3. Blue LED which lights up Power switch shows through the left side air vents in the middle of the Front panel. They should have enclosed that light somehow; this defeats the elegant understated appearance.
Other Thoughts: Antec sent me a USB3 to USB2 converter cable on request, at no charge. Had ordered a non-USB3 mobo but now all 4 front USB ports will be available.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Nice, clean, chear, sharp display. 1900 x 1280 resolution. No dead pixels. Good color; several color "modes" to choose from.
Came with DVI & VGA cable.
Monitor clicks positively into its mount, which has a nifty thumbscrew device that locks into the base.
Wonderful amount of display area.
Cons: Settings interface & buttons are a little hard to use. Instructions in User manual are somewhat less than clear. Not much of a con, since once it's setup, it's not necessary to go back into the menu again.
Power cable includes a brick. This is a smallish, light brick, but it would have been nice to know in advance.
Other Thoughts: It was a little difficult to get the monitor mounted on the stand. Contrary to the quick setup instructions, we had to mount the collar onto the back of the monitor FIRSt, then place this into the stand.
The straight-in DVI cable sort-of defeats the purpose of the slimline design. It would be nice to have a 90-angle DVI cable (if they even exist), to go along with the slim profile of this unit.
In a Linux OS, it might be necessary to edit a config file to reflect the Horiz & Vert settings, and the 1900 x 1280 resolution. But it looks beautiful once the monitor settings were specified. This is running just beautiful under Debian Lenny.
We'll see how long this lasts. The monitor it replaced (same MFR) lived just about 3 years from date of manufacture.
