This review is from: Intel BOXDZ87KLT75K LGA 1150 Intel Z87 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This is top of the line board if and only if one condition is fulfilled. Stay away from any greater than 1600MHz memory, the difference of which will hardly be noticed. Picture quality will be enhanced no matter which gpu will be used. no matter 7970ghz or 780gtx. All the micro-chips and accessories are top of the line and the sheer quality of components can be seen through naked eye.
Cons: same old like i said.......stay away from >1600MHz Ram. Two bios are available. no improvement noticed after installing each other.
Other Thoughts: Happy till nowREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: Owned it nearly 22 hrs ago, just switched from Intel platform to AMD. Last cpu had been 17-860/DP55KG. Took a lot of time tweaking things, UEFI bios is totally different but allow all uses to change settings available related to the hardware. Connected all regular peripherals, coupled my 8350 vishera with thermaltake frio OCK, its understandable that the season being summer, an ambient temp of 33 deg easily pushed my 8350 to 44 while idling. Everything starting from OS setup to playing shift 2 (so far) runs good, nothing special, i know i bought this chip to run multi-threaded games like gta4, 5(upcoming), far cry 3 (yet to be tested) and many others. WEI in Windows 8-64 gives 7.9 to all parts except my Intel 120GB SSD which scores 8.1 and things running like butter mainly for this so far. Compatibility is super w/ this board. I have an AMD/Thermaltake Armor Casing and ASUS parts made real friendship with them. I just never getting tired whenever watching the task manager indicates cpu has awesome 4.01GHz of processing freq. Installation disk comes w/ a lots of software which i must make use later. The thing i'm lacking right now is some quality thermal grease, had been using little amoung as the intel cpu's are tiny but 8350 is bigger any need lot more of those grease.
Cons: It's not that i found any component defective, all manufacturer have their own different way of putting things on. The RAM sockets work differently than other board i guess. Everything ran nice n fine in day 1, no dram led activity(i didnt notice) during operation for my whole exploring night (till 2am) then after waking up in the morning i turned cpu on, entered the bios, did nothing, F10'ed it then dark everywhere on my 27" viewsonic, i wasted 2.50 hours, took everything out: fans of cpu cooler & 6970 card runs well n fine. After checking many other stuff i noticed Mr. user guide who was very healthy. I spent lot of time with him already last evening but this time he says, DRAM_LED activity for(ever) is not normal. took my bulky frio tower cooler out, reinserted those 1600MHz sticks. turned everything on and then bios showed up. WHAT A RELIEF !! but why it happened i dont know.
Bluetooth option w'd have been welcomed as i had it in dp55kg. no wifi either. bios has some silly grammatical mistake. pci-e-1x slot location is a joke, who can use it?? some peasant class gpu owner maybe.
I'm still exploring. waiting for far cry 3............
Other Thoughts: I expected a big jump in performance as the passmark software benches it nearly with 3770/3770k. Processors in between 8350 and 3770 are pricey but the thing is i should have had a look at anandteck benchmark which tells the ugly thuth. Besides couple of multi-threaded wins, 8350 loses every battle with 3770k. i know 3770k is more expensive but i really want AMD to release cpus that can go head to head. come on AMD, we can afford high end chips, just bring it already !!! intel personnel are fooling people with 3930k, 3960x without slightest of performance improvement...........ohh I totally forgot this is my motherboard i'm talking about.
