Thermaltake Soprano Black

Thermaltake SOPRANO VO900M1N2N Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Thermaltake SOPRANO VO900M1N2N Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The Thermaltake Soprano Black VO900M1N2N is a really well-constructed and well thought-out case, making motherboard and peripheral installation a pleasure to accomplish.

Cons: The included case fans are both 3-wire fans, nor the more modern 4-wire PWM fans that most higher-end motherboards use. The rear-mounted 120mm case fan is a snap to remove and replace, but the front-mounted 200mm fan is pretty buried deep inside the chassis itself, and I'm awaiting a reply from Thermaltake tech support regarding whether it's even possible to replace, and if so, how to do so. Regardless, my advice would be to have several power adapters on-hand just in case you run into the same incompatibility that I did. Specifically, the fan connectors are 3-wire female connectors, so if you order an adapter/converter that is a 3-pin male to 4-pin PC power Adapter (such as NewEgg P/N N82E16812189119) that might save you lots of frustration.

Overall Review: Other than the chassis fans being three-wire, I'm a happy camper. Thermaltake makes good stuff!

Most Critical Review

Failed to boot

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Tons of features, lots of fan power ports, Asus name, there's lots to like about this motherboard.

Cons: Will not boot. I just opened my brand new Asus Rampage IV extreme Motherboard, and I'm trying to use it with a brand new Intel i7-4930K CPU, and when I power-on, I get a red CPU light and code "00" on the motherboard. A quick Gooogle search shows lots and lots of people with the same issue, and it looks like the installed BIOS may not new enough to recognize the new processor. Unfortunately, the USB BIOS Flashback feature (which sounds terrific in theory) does not seem to work (yes I tried both .CAP files and .ROM files using the converter program I downloaded from Asus support website, FAT32 USB 2GB flash drive in white ROG USB port, in standby power mode, etc. but no work). So just moments ago I ordered a new $15 physical BIOS chip (plus $20 express shipping!) from the Asus e-store, but not knowing any better, I only ordered one BIOS chip, hoping that I did not need to buy two of them (since there are 2 BIOS chips on the motherboard). Based upon the other negative reviews, I'm thinking about just sending it back for another product, unless Asus can make this right somehow.

Overall Review: I really really WANTED to like this motherboard. In terms of features, it's loaded and is hands-down the nicest motherboard I've ever owned. However, if it won't boot, none of those features do you much good. I've tried and tried to update the BIOS using the USB BIOS Flashback feature (even with no components--CPU, Video, Memory) installed, and nothing I do seems to make it work, and I build & repair computers as a side activity, so I've had a fair bit of experience at these types of things. Since I've had good luck with Asus in the past, I'm going to give them another try (different product this time, though) and hope it works out better next time. Good luck, all.

Not a true replacement for Original X650 Part!

XAircraft X650 V4 V8 Parts :2pcs F3010 Load Mount For X650 Value DIY X4/X8 Hexa Copter UFO

Pros: Sturdy & Well Built - so it deserves 2 stars.

Cons: Not the same size as the original X-650 Part F3010, as advertised, so it loses 3 stars.

Overall Review: Although the title claims that this is ax X-Aircraft X650 Part F3010, it is not, and it does not fit correctly. Yes, the "gripper" size is correct for the tube diameter on which it mounts, but the spacing between the tubes is incorrect. This part is made for tubes spaced slightly farther apart than the X-650 spacing. You can 'force' it to fit, but the part will be visibly warped, and a flat platform will not fit properly on top.
