Pros: Clean looking, probably decent machine, not what it was sold as.
Cons: Processor is not the i7 it says, it came with an i5. the video card is not a 1GB card, it is an ATI Radeon HD4550, 512mb. Nowhere is listed which version, but the picture is of the mini-tower version - delivered was the "Small Form Factor", which has fewer inside slots, and all the slots are low profile (can't use full size cards).
Other Thoughts: I am returning this in the morning. The Newegg website says this was bought from iCompNY. Within hours of placing my order, the very bad review that preceeds this showed up. Knowing it a refurb, I bought a Newegg repair contract – I am hopefull that Newegg will cancel that, as I never received the item I ordered. Based on the previous post, it seems like Newegg should just stop working with iCompNY. I would NEVER have bought something like this from a random online place, I did it because Newegg put it on their site, which I trusted because I have found them to be reliable and seemingly honest. If they don't make good on all this, and if I lose more than the several hours of research and checking, etc. that. I have already lost, I will stop recommending them to the many people that I have recommended to.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: See other thoughts. Gave it 4 Eggs because it probably would have been a 5 egg, but other circumstances prevailed.
Cons: See other thoughts
Other Thoughts: Response to my original posting of 6/25/2013 2:06:28 PM
This card may have been fine. I tried a different card (bought elsewhere), and when it did not work at all, I checked and discovered that the 4 pin Molex power cable I had used was faulty. When I used a different power cable, the new card worked fine. I suspect the old card would also work fine. Sorry!
Pros: Followed instructions, used driver that came with it and plugged into drive power supply as directed. Worked fine, was glad to have a fast transfer to drives.
Cons: About a week later, came to computer after 1/2 hour break, it was off, I had left it running. It would not turn on, I tried a variety of things (different power outlet, cable, etc). Then, remembering I had seen something about a computer seeming to die until the card was taken out on another review, I removed this card, the computer started right up.
Other Thoughts: Seems like it works fro some people, not others. I am not going to risk any further experimenting with this, don't want to find out what might get ruined, although everything seems to be working fine now.READ FULL REVIEW
