Pros: I had a defective unit when I wrote my first (very frustrated)
review. EnGenius called me in response. They really want their customers to be satisfied and I admire their dedication to that.
The replacement unit has been functioning fine since I received it.
The detachable antennas are plus should I want to buy or make ones with more gain.
Cons: I don't find the signal strength great enough to be called "extra range" though. Both transmitter power and receive sensitivity are required for this. I'm unable to evaluate the receiver sensitivy but the transmitter is just average compared with my LinkSys 1500 or 1200 routers.
The default settings are definitely set to be plug and play, but there is no security.
It will be open to anyone until you change that.
Every time you change a setting it takes about 15 seconds to update, a bit long.
A firmware update may change that.
Other Thoughts: Both EnGenius and Newegg were great. I called newegg on a Monday, got my RMA and return label by Tuesday, sent it off same day and received a new unit on Thursday. I helps being local!
Wish I had waited to do my first review of a defective unit :)
I think that with the Newegg price and almost free shipping (.99) it is a good value.
Pros: This router connected via wired just fine. No drivers required.
Cons: The wireless appeared to work but kept disconnecting every few minutes. Level 2 tech support couldn't help. They had me doing stupid things like changing channels (how would they know the traffic at my location?) and changing my passcode to remove special characters (that is part of the wireless security)!
This unit is either defective or it's just a bad product.
This unit didn't give a better signal than my Linksys 1500, even with the 5dbi external antennas!
What a waste of money!
Other Thoughts: I know that this is a new product but it should work.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Canon EOS Rebel T2i Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only
Pros: This camera has a lot of the features of much more expensive cameras I shopped around for. This is my first digital SLR camera and I am very happy with it. It is easy to use even though it is feature rich. Possibly too many "point and shoot" modes for my taste. Canon calls them "Basic Zone" modes, but you don't have to use them and they can be very convenient. The "Creative Zone" modes are for those who know photography and want control rather than give it up to the camera.
Cons: No manual focusing aids (microprism, split image). All film SLRs have these. Expensive battery and no manual audio volume control.
The user manual combines photography lessons with the camera operation. Each should be in its own section.
Other Thoughts: It would be unfair to compare this with a pro camera, that is not its market. If you want a professional camera fork over the big bucks.
Download the PDF manual. It's searchable and is easier to read.
