AMD Sempron 145 Sargas Single-Core 2.8GHz Socket AM3 45W Desktop Processor SDX145HBGMBOX

  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: This single-core has quite a good powerful core to it!!! Processing power is about equal to a Dual CPU Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT server motherboard with a score of 802 for the sempron 145 and P4 3Ghz HT's with a score of 361 each for 722 combined. I have been able to play games like World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Aion, TeraRising, LOTR, SWTOR, and GTA SA etc with no problems. The core runs at 80 to 100% with Windows 7 64-bit and these games, but doesnt choke up. No lag when paired with a decent video card.

Cons: None ... other than not much difference between Sempron 140 and Sempron 145. The extra 100Mhz of the 145 doesn't amount to a noticable difference, so I probably could have bought a 3rd Sempron 140 2.7Ghz instead of the Sempron 145 2.8Ghz and saved $6 at the time for the 3rd low cost computer build I had.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought the Sempron 140 2.7Ghz CPUs as cheap CPUs for builds, then decided to buy this Sempron 145 2.8Ghz. For the extra $6 at the time, I probably could have just gotten another 140 instead of the 145. Not much gain in the extra 100Mhz, however I was able to overclock this CPU 10% to 3.08Ghz and it ran with no problems, and the 140 I could only get to 2.85Ghz from 2.7Ghz in which any higher and it would act up so this 145 overclocks to 10% while the 140 couldnt be pushed an extra 270Mhz to 2970Mhz, but instead could only be driven to 2912Mhz with locked multiplier and FSB changed from 200Mhz on DDR2 800Mhz to 208Mhz for a 7.28% overclock with any higher OC causing freeze framing in games and random BSOD's.

For the same money if you dont mind used, you can get a Dual-Core either AM2 or AM3 for less than $20 that will outperform this CPU.

I have since stopped buying these new in favor of used Athlon 64 x2 4450B AM2 CPU's and Athlon II x2 215 AM3 CPU's used for less than $20 each and no problems. These used CPUs benchmark 50% better for the Athlon x2 4450B ( Business Class ) Socket AM2, and 100% better for the Athlon II x2 215 Socket AM3. *Also entry level used Phenom CPUs start around the price tag of this Sempron single core that benchmark even better such as x2 and x3 Phenom CPUs that are in this price range.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria PC Game
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

3 out of 5 eggs Better than Cata, but worse than first 3 game editions 06/20/2014

This review is from: World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria PC Game

Pros: New area to explore and panda race to try out.

New items introduced to the game with neat abilities.

Runs ok on old Pentium 4 2.8Ghz HT with GeForce 7800GT AGP video card. ( Although game warns that the GPU is out of date )
*Note you will have better performance on a newer computer with good CPU and better GPU.

Cons: Cons far outweigh the pros. I have been with WoW since Classic WoW aka Vanilla in 2005. The game was great until Cata, which caused me to take a 9 month leave from the game. I came back because some friends lured me back. I bought this expansion and got bored with it after about 2 weeks.

Timeless Isle = Grind Central ( lack of ideas of what to do with people when they reach level 90 ) and reminds me of a Mario Brothers / World of Warcraft merger. Everything you do drops coins. Robbing a birds nest, mining a node of metal, killing everything, finding boxes, and glittering sand all drops coins. You get a few coins per kill and you are spending like 60,000 of them to get anything worth while.

Rare spawns are everywhere and some drop some cool stuff, but for the most part they are too easy to kill and with everyone using NPC Scanner addons, by the time you are alerted to the presence since you are also using this addon its already dead.

Panda's play as neutral until level 10 in which you have to decide alliance or horde. Why dont they make this this way with all races since we already know that there are NPC traitors on each side that are part of quests etc that are human horde and blood elf alliance etc.

Have to be level 90 to fly in MoP and on PvP servers 90s camp all quest areas and kill the new 85s entering the zone making the game play a very bad experience for anyone wanting to PvE on a PvP realm.

Merged Realms are imbalanced. For example Sargeras use to be a fun balanced PvP Realm and now its disproportionate to where its 75% horde to 25% alliance. Its so bad that level 90's feast on lower levels questing such as trying to quest in Tanaris you get ganked, and a group is also waiting at the grave yard so you cant even rez and take sickness and hearth they kill you as soon as you appear.

PvP on Merged Realm is very very very BAD for lower levels. The Dark Portal Portal from the cities drops you off in a large crack in the ground and level 90s are standing on the top if the ledge and as soon as you appear you are killed. They also camp the dark portal so anyone trying to enter as say level 59 are ganked. Anyone lucky enough to make it through the portal are ganked as soon as they appear on the other side where there is another gank mob killing lower levels for the fun of it since there is no honor points gained from killing lower levels.

Anyone with a level 85+ toon on a PvP realm wanting to flee the PvP Merged Realm Gank Fest of lower levels has to pay $25 to move character to a different Realm. It cost me $25 to move my level 90 DK to Wyrmrest Accord ( RP ) so I can PvE without ganks. Its almost like blizz intentionally did this to cash in on people wanting to get away from constant ganks.

RealID Friends who party up with you, when you are on a PvP realm, they on a PvE or RP realm get flagged PvP and all instance entrances camped with gank mobs to kill

Requires 1 mb or better bandwith internet or else lots of lag

Other Thoughts: If you are new to the game I suggest a RP or PVE realm. You wont get ganked unless you intentionally flag yourself or attack a horde guard etc. (* You can get an instant PVP to PVE Cool Down by taking a flight point anywhere..normally you have to wait 5 minutes for the CD.

I abandoned all my toons on PvP realms, and am playing on Wyrmrest Accord which is a RP realm. This way I can PVE and when I want to PVP I can flag myself or enter to go into a PVP ring etc.

Blizzard is no longer moderating the content in the game like they use to. I think this is because they cut the number of employees down due to the fact that the game has lost many millions of players. In Wyrmrest Accord the Goldshire Inn in Goldshire is a 24 hour red light of sick individuals. It is the red light district of WoW on this realm where players ERP and ...out their toons etc, and no one is getting banned. Back say 5 or 6 years ago the game was much cleaner with people like this banned. You also have people spamming the channels with stuff that you wouldnt want your child seeing and blizzard is not on top of stopping the xxx acts and content in public places in the game etc.

Since I started playing WoW in 2005 many people have come and gone from the game. More seem to have left than are coming as new players to the game. I have a friends list with over 40 people and its down to 2 active friends with everyone else moving on from wow. I have made some new friends, but there are only 2 of 40 people left from the beginning of the gameplay.

If you want to try this game out before investing money into it I suggest playing a "Starter Edition" account which is free to play with a level 20 level cap. There are many restrictions to the free play accounts, but you can experience the game before sinking any money into it.

I have played wow since Nov 2005 and have spent over $1600 on this game with $15 a month X 94 months + original game and 4 expansions. Sometimes I wish I had the $1600 cash instead of all the time I put into this game that while there are good memories, playing anymore I am tempted to quit for good, but with some friends its more of a online social gathering that I am paying for.

They should drop the monthly fee to $9.99 from $14.99, but they are hurting for money so they cant afford to do that.

Yes I prepurchased the next expansion with an instant 90 promo and made an instant 90 monk. If this next expansion is a let down, then I will be pulling the plug on WoW after almost 10 years playing wow. I have played Warcraft since Warcraft II playing 2 player games across dial-up modems and serial null cables between 2 systems with friends. Hoping the next expansion is not the final chapter in this game for me, but I have doubts whether they will be able to pull thru and make this game what it once was. ='(

Anyone looking for a good friendly adult guild should inquire on Wyrmrest Accord with Minions of Mayhem an age 18+ adult level 25 guild. =)

AMD Athlon X2 4450B Dual-Core 2.3GHz Socket AM2 45W Processor ADH445BDOBOX
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Good Multitasker CPU - Over Clocks 10% 05/29/2014

This review is from: AMD Athlon X2 4450B Dual-Core 2.3GHz Socket AM2 45W Processor ADH445BDOBOX

Pros: Bought this socket AM2 CPU off of a friend for $10 used to stuff into my old gaming system with Biostar MCP6PB M2+ motherboard, when I removed the Athlon II x4 620 AM3 to stuff into my newest gaming system with Socket AM3+ socket and 8GB RAM. This CPU came out of a Business Class HP and it benchmarks better than the more common AMD Athlon x2 4450E due to a difference in the Cache configuration. This CPU runs so well in my old gaming system that out of habit I actually have been using my old gaming system more than my new system. Playing Games like World of Warcraft 5.4.8 with Windows 7 64-bit and 4GB of Corsair DDR2-800Mhz XMS2 with AMD ATI Radeon HD 5450 video card with 512MB Video Memory on normal mid-range graphics settings the dual-core is fluctuating evenly between both cores of 60 and 80% utilization with no game lag and 30 to 100 fps depending on where in the game I am at and what is going on. This CPU also runs fine with a 10% overclock. I am running it with stock cooler at 2.53Ghz by increasing the FSB from 200Mhz to 220Mhz. The fastest I got it to run was 2564 Mhz, but the graphics card started to show surging and fps fluctuations at 223Mhz, I started backing off on the OC and at 222Mhz everything worked ok, but the CPU temp was running around 57C on stock cooler. At 220Mhz for CPU clock of 2530Mhz with locked 11.5x multiplier it idles at 37C and tops off at 53C. Without overclocking it the idle temp is 30C and 45C loaded at 100% load using y-cruncher etc

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish I had a second one of these CPU's. In addition to gaming with it with no problems for World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Aion, Blades of Time, Diablo 3, and other games I play, I also record game events with Fraps and use Virtual Dub 64-bit to take 30GB video files and encode them to 1GB AVI files to share on youtube. I have been able to encode 8 video files at the same time using Virtual Dub 64-bit. At 1 video converted the cores show 60% usage, and at 2 videos converted at the same time its in the 90%, and for 3 to 8 files at the same time both cores are solidly pegged at 100%. The most I have processed at the same time are 8 video files, but at 8 files encoded from RAW Fraps format to AVI at the same time you start to see that its starting to bring the CPU to its knees with essentially 4 video processing encodings per core. You start to see that the Windows 7 Gadget clock only shows a change in the second hand about once every 3 or 4 seconds vs every second as a normal clock would. *** This is one powerful dual-core for multitasking and I now know why HP chose it for their AMD CPU Business Class Desktop product line *** Also with the 10% overclock at 2530Mhz it chugs through the video encoding conversions without any flaws in the end product videos and gets them completed almost 10% sooner.
