Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Aluminum Fins for AMD Ryzen/Intel LGA1200/1151

Pros: It came with enough thermal paste to reinstall the stock cooler.

Cons: It made an ugly mark when I eventually threw it at the wall and made me question my very sanity.

Overall Review: DISCLAIMER: I am not an idiot, I know how to install PC hardware. I said to myself "WOW 2600 REVIEWS AND A 5 STAR EGG RATING! This has to be an amazing cooler!" With that many positive reviews, I figured this product would be fine for me, so I measured my case and decided it would fit and ordered it. I got it and saw immediately how poorly engineered the mounting mechanism was. I am completely floored that a product this poorly engineered made it to market. This product flat out needs two people to install it, there's no workaround. You will smear thermal all over creation if you try doing it yourself. You will more likely than not have to remove your motherboard completely due to the way the backplate mounts (using nuts). There is no insulation of any sort on the backplate or standoffs, increasing the chance of a short. In an effort to save a few cents Coolermaster used a single modular X-shaped mounting device instead of using multiple brackets. The way it works is, depending on which socket your CPU uses, you lock the x-bracket into place. This mechanism is complete garbage. It does not lock into place unless it's on top of the heat sink, and when it's on top of the heat sink a "locking mechanism" the side of a pencil tip is expected to hold the entire show together. It does not lock in place properly when flush against the heat sink as it is supposed to, and when fully mounted the entire assembly is loose and is actually able to rotate 20 degrees in either direction on top of the CPU. It does not mount flat on top of the heat sink. When you tighten down the screws to mount the heat sink, you need 4 hands. Even with the four hands, the way the screws are tightened, due to uneven pressure, no matter how careful you are, thermal paste will ooze out from under the heat sink. There is no effective way to keep it straight on top of the CPU while you're tightening the screws due to the free floating design, so the thing just skates around crazily on top of the CPU while you fight to get the mount into place, which, by the way, is sliding out of the socket type it's supposed to be locked into. I finally got the thing mounted and fired up my PC. My temps have increased by 10 degrees. I figured the fight with the heat sink borked my thermal job. I reinstall. Fast forward, I've reinstalled it 3 times. I have fully given the thing the benefit of the doubt. It is a BAD DESIGN. It is a nightmare install. I have enlisted the aid of other people to help me install it during the 3 installs, no dice. Bad temps every time, no matter what I do the flimsy mounting device allows the sink to move under mount. I'm on the 4th install. It goes perfect. I install the fan and it's joke anti-vibration rubber feet. I turn on my PC. The ball bearings in the fan go bad and the fan starts moaning like a banshee. I will never buy another Cooler Master product again and I will spend the rest of my natural life bashing them. This is a bad product. RUN.
