Pros: Still a great card. No issues like other negative statements. Running on a Maximus II Formula MB.
Cons: Don't even think about using the drivers from the Silverstone web site. I looked at the rev levels shown on the web site and immediately downloaded the highest rev level and installed it. I then uninstalled the driver I'd been using and installed the new one, ... dead! Thank goodness for System Restore!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: AVerMedia C285 Game Capture HD II
Pros: It looks like the answer to my needs. However ....
Cons: They won't admit there's something weird about it and the way it records and through puts a data stream, not to mention the stability issue. See my "Other Thoughts".
Other Thoughts: My queries to the manufacturer regarding this unit recording my AV Receiver "Monitor Out" (HDMI 1.3) got this response:
If the receiver output is HDMI 1.3 indeed signal should be received by our capture card, however your device is also a video converter (run converting process constantly) from this reason
we still can't guarantee that your scenario will work without any issues.
Thank you for understanding!
I can furnish the email the above came from if needed. It seems to me they may be seriously concerned about copyright issues more than technical ones. See the October 2013 review for other issues with this box.
Pros: The combination of the PCIe card and the front panel sockets is a great adaption to upgrade to USB 3.0. The driver disc was helpful also. But see my "Cons".
Cons: As the title implies, the directions suck. First problem, the "Assembly Steps" can only be found on the driver disc; second problem, the 4th step of the "Assembly Instructions" (install the "sockets" on the drive adapter plate ....) should be first (there's no way to do it with the adapter plate installed in your case); third problem, nothing tells you it won't work without the 5 volt power plugged in; and last of all (and I may be showing my ignorance here) nothing works if the drivers aren't installed before the card is installed. I even had to use the "Repair Windows 7" utility on the Windows 7 Installation Disc.
Other Thoughts: After going through all the "revised steps" resulting from the problems I encountered in the Cons the card and sockets work great and I now don't have to lift my keyboard drawer over USB drives sticking out of the top of my full size tower case.READ FULL REVIEW
