ASUS VC279H Slim Bezel Black 27
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: 1) Very aesthetically pleasing with a brushed matte finish on the bottom chin. Very minimal/muted ASUS/HDMI logos and power light. Can't see any buttons. Subtle dots to indicate where buttons are underneath.
2) Slim bezel and thin overall - looks good from the back and sides.
3) Pictures/videos do look great and vivid
4) Has VESA mounts

Cons: 1) Out of the box settings are horrible for text, edges and lines. Everything that isn't an image looks slightly blurry/fuzzy to me. It does get better with tweaking contrast etc. This is in comparison to the Acer IPS 1080P 27" inch it replaced.
2) VividPixel seems to make text fuzzy and blurry looking. Can turn it off.
3) Clicking the buttons will make the whole monitor wobble if you're using the stand.
4) I feel like I can see the individual pixels on this display

Other Thoughts: I'm an average user, we do everything from gaming to productivity, I'm definitely not a display expert.

I switched to these from an Acer IPS with the same specs in order to get VESA mounting to clear up desk space. So we have 2 of these floating over the desk. The Acer picture looked amazing out of the box, I never felt like I could see pixels or noticed any text blur/fuzz, it always looked super sharp, never even thought about it.

Upon getting these, it felt like a step backwards even though they have the same specs. I considered returning them but decided to keep them. I'm honestly not sure if it's as good as the Acer or if I'm just used to it now.

The fact is I never even thought about it with the Acer and with this monitor the text looked fuzzy/blurry to me. I could be looking to closely to try and evaluate it.

Watching 1080P video and gaming/high res images my concerns disappear because it does look great.

I actually think it is the best option for the price <two hundred. HMDI, looks good, not glossy, VESA and slim bezel.
