Good, good, good

AMD Athlon II X2 255 - Athlon II X2 Regor Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3 65W Desktop Processor - ADX255OCGQBOX
AMD Athlon II X2 255 - Athlon II X2 Regor Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3 65W Desktop Processor - ADX255OCGQBOX

Pros: Well, if comparing it to my old single core, Sempron 2.2, it blows it out of the water. There's no comparison, period. I mostly game and I wanted a budget sytem. The old agp 7600GT gpu just wasn't cutting it so I cut it loose(fairwell old friend). Didn't feel I needed a quad core just yet, not many games that require it so I saved money for other things. This cpu is plenty fast enough for what I need it for. Bye,bye lag!

Cons: No L3 cache, could use more on the L2 end also but like I said, it's doing the job.

Overall Review: If you want to build an inexpensive, mid grade rig, this cpu is great for the money. I built mine for $350 and it plays all my games on maxed setting, maxed res. 50+fps and no lag/hicups. Newegg delivered in two business days, nice. But, I wanted to buy a case from them also but was $25 for shipping. Drove up the road to Fryes and saved some money. Sorry Newegg, gotta watch those shipping prices.

Perfect Match

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory Kit Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R

Pros: Being that my case is red & black, it's a perfect match and sexy hot! Looked good before I put it in the case. I didn't have to fiddle with the timing, 9-9-9-24 and was made to run @ 1.5 volts. I simply snapped it in and it took off like a scalded cat!

Cons: Ok, maybe not like a scalded cat but I did see some improvement going from 4 gigs @ 1333 mhz. to 8 gigs @1600 mhz. and I'm pleased for the $40 I spent, which was a drop in the bucket for better performance. I tracked it when it was shipped and saw it arrived in Austin (where I live) at around 2:30 or so in the morning and thought I would see it by early evening that day but didn't. Tracked it again and saw that it left town (WHY???!!!) to a destination I don't recall off hand, a town I don't live in and had to wait a few more days. I thought I was getting two day shipping. This is a first for me so I will forgive NEWEGG this one time. Maybe wasn't all their fault.

Overall Review: My next mb will have the fastest FSB to handle anything thrown at it, no bottlenecking. FSB is where it's at yall! If it can't keep up with the rest the rest don't matter and that's a fact, Jack!

The Little Card That Could

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC128D/AM 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Desktop Upgrade Kit
SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC128D/AM 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Desktop Upgrade Kit

Pros: It came with an adapter, the software is easy to work with and helpful, it's fast. It does what I hoped it would do and then some. I play BF3 alot and the BF series is notorious for having very slo----w load times. My load time to get into a game online went from 3 1/2 minutes down to 45 seconds on an average and it reads everything else like a savant on cr*ck and seems to be getting faster!!

Cons: According to the softwares test results, it doesn't read quite a fast as what is claimed in the specs but then again, the specs do say 'up to' *** mbps and I was aware of that so I took my chances and am pleased, regardless of it not reaching it's possible peak read times. So, no eggs cracked for that and it does appear to be getting slightly faster the more I use it. Maybe it will peak. The price goes up and down like a roller coaster. Watch it close and nab it on the positive G's.

Overall Review: Are you still reading this?!! Just buy it! Also, can someone please make a 180 degree monitor for gaming that wraps around your head so I can use my perepheral vision instead of whipping the mouse around left & right like a maniac when checking all the corners, etc.!

AMD Phenom II X6 1045T - Phenom II X6 Thuban 6-Core 2.7 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HDT45TWFGRBOX

Pros: There are alot of reviews that say you NEED to buy an aftermarket heatsink/fan but I think it all DEPENDS on your rigs hardware/case. My cpu is running at 39c under load and idles at 29c with the stock heatsink/fan that came with it and that's no *#$&! That's cool in anyones book!! I played BF3 online for about two hours right after install on 'all high settings' (and I mean ALL), 'maxed res.' and it ran like a champ! I tried ultra settings but it got choppy so I backed off and went back to high. No chop, no freezes like the last cpu but I attribute that to the m.b. needing a good flash. Runs with a kitty like purrr. I've thought about over clocking it but it does what I need it to do plenty fat enough. A new SSD will take care any lag in load times, especially in BF3 which takes over two minutes to load to a game level on a server. For the price, this is a good buy. I know an I7 has twice the L3 cache but from what I've read, L2 cache is used more extensively and this has twice the L2

Cons: It went down $10 in price two days after I bought it. I won't sue but I will come back to haunt from the grave.

Overall Review: Cooler Master 100 case with three 200mm fans (two intake, one out), Cooler Master 550w psu, this cpu, Nvidia GTX 560, 4 gigs ADATA 1330 mhz dual channel ram, Gigabyte TA 770GA ud3 m.b.(flashed to run WIN 7 optimally and be sure to reset your date/time or things might not work), WD Caviar Green 500 gigs, SATA 3. I based my egg score on value, not how fast it runs. I'm not into bragging rights, nor is my wallet.

ZOTAC GeForce 9800 GT 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-98GEY3G-FSL

Pros: I finally built a new system and got away from the expensive AGP parts. So, I've upgraded from an 7600 GT and man what a difference! I am playing COD Black Ops on med. high settings at max res. at around 30-55 fps. (online) and loving it. And not just for the money either. I've been playing new games on 600x800/low settings for way too long and this is like heaven. Sure it could be better but not on my budget. Anyways, I can actually tell if someone is looking out a window in the distace pointing a rifle at me now. I don't have to wait for a bullet in the head to know for sure, ha! I only play fps games online so naturally I get some lag but that's more due to the servers or my DSL connection. Anyway, it's good to me and I like it.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I built my new desk top computer to run in 64 bit but didn't have the money at the time for a new OS. I just ordered Windows 7 a couple days ago and should have it tomorrow. Can't wait to see the difference in performance when I go from 32 bit to 64 and have my 4 gigs of ram turn into 8 with the dual channel ram. Should help with any bottle necking. Oh, New Egg Rocks my nest!

Bang 4 Buck

Kodak C195 Blue 14 MP Digital Camera
Kodak C195 Blue 14 MP Digital Camera

Pros: First of all, the camera looks nice. I'm a male and this thing is a dark, midnight blue, just like us guys like. The ergonomics are good. It's not thin all the way across like my friends Olympus is which makes it easier to hold without the hand cramping. Thin isn't always the best for everyone. So far, it's taking good pictures. They look sharp with good color. Night time pictures look great so far, I've been steadying the camera on different things like rails and flat objects and the two second timer comes in handy for night photography also. Using it prevents any movement and blurring which is easy to do when using a low ISO like 100 or less. Will probably get my tripod from UPS tomorrow. I'm already familiar with Kodacs layout of buttons and controls from the first digital camera I bought years ago. It's like anything else basic, you just scroll up or down, select, scroll left or right to see more options on that particular thing. How hard is that? For $80, 14 mp, get outa here!

Cons: I already said get outa here but I do have a small gripe with UPS, when ever they've delivered just one package in the past, they just drop it in front of your door for anyone to pickup for themselves. Only once, did I ever find a note on my door saying they attempted a delivery but I wasn't home so they kept the package with them. I think UPS must have some kind of policy that makes their people get the package off the truck to save the company time and money truck or maybe the quality of people they hire these days is low grade.

Overall Review: If anyone else comes on here griping about how this or any camera takes bad pictures, complaining about the light, etc. Just remember you read this and first and know to use the software that comes with the camera to correct most flaws that are typical with any camera. They aren't perfect people, not all the time anyway. I also use Photoshop 7 so that I can take a #2 and turn it into a bronze statue!
