Synology DS212J Diskless System DiskStation Budget-friendly 2-bay NAS Server for Small Office and Home Use
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: This is my first NAS for my home network. It went in easy, worked as advertised. I used two 3TB drives and have tons of space for my backups and music. Finally a single, redundant (raid 1) storage area so I don't have to shuffle stuff between different PC's on my home network.

Cons: Was there a quick start guide somewhere in all the online help/documentation? I just figured it out but that would help.

MOTOROLA SB6141 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Went in place of the Time Warner modem with zero issues. Worked as advertised which is great.

Cons: If you sleep in the same space the lights are active and bright, be aware.

Other Thoughts: Do it, buy your own hardware instead of paying the cable companies forever!

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC064D/AM 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: This was my first SSD drive on a new PC build. It was painless and because its not a huge size I have mostly just the WIN 7, 64-bit on it. Boots up in way less than 30 seconds and is just a pleasure to use. No technical install issues, very much like installing a regular hard drive.

Cons: Now, that I am used to the speed made possible with this SSD I will have to buy bigger SSD's for future builds, not really a con but I have 'swallowed' the hook, so to speak and can't go back to rotating storage, at least for my primary drive/boot drive.

Other Thoughts: Buy an SSD and don't look back, you'll be glad you did.
