1 out of 5 eggs Almost a great idea, but D'oh! 10/17/2016

This review is from: SEDNA SE-FP-ESATA-1-BK- 2 Port eSATA Floppy Bay Front Panel with Power Connector (Black)

Pros: I was really interested in this, but then noticed the Molex connections ...

Cons: ... are the wrong gender. Most standard Molex cables are a male pin, which needs a female socket to plug in to. So no standard Molex cables are going to work on the front power connector!

Also, the exposed pins are bringing the PSU 12V power to the outside world, with some PSU capable of putting out 40-50A on that plug. The load side should always have a exposed pins and the power delivery side have to protected shrouded housing,

Other Thoughts: So still looking for something like this, but with either a proper Molex output or a SATA power output ...

5 out of 5 eggs Great PC, but it was a PITA to get it going! 10/16/2016

This review is from: ASRock H170M Pro4 LGA 1151 Intel H170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Now that this is working well, it is a fantastic PC. I have built over 30 PC's, and this one is a terrific compromise between power usage and capability. Absolutely amazed at the speed and low power idle that this does. It idles at 16W at the plug!!! I can leave it on all year long and it will use about $16 in electricity. It would make a great NAS or HTPC.

I bench marked the system using Passmark V7.0, and it got ratings of :

System: 2738
CPU: 8321
The RAM did well too, but I did not write down the number.

Installed a Samsung 850 Evo for data and got about 375-400MB/sec to the M.2 boot SSD.

A real home run!!!

Cons: Oh wow, was the bios a pig. Wow.

This was a real treat for early adopters. The hardware is great, but the bios developers were way behind. The latest bios as of today's date (2016.10.16) is a winner, but the earlier versions were tough to work with. Getting the M.2 SSD going was possibly the worst for me. I nearly gave up on it.

Other Thoughts: HW Specs:
ASRock H170M Pro4 (mATX)
Intel i5-6600T 54W CPU
4x4GB G.Skill RAM 2133MHz DDR4 F4-2133C15Q-16GRK
M.2 Samsung 120GB SSD MZNLN120
Samsung 850 Evo
Seasonic G-360 80 Plus Gold PSU Model SSR-360GP

Note: If you oversize the PSU (like a 600W PSU) you won't get the low idle power due to overhead losses. A 200-250W 80 Plus Bronze PSU might be a better fit for idle power. Your idle power should not go below 10% of a PSU's rating => read in Tom's Hardware. I got lucky here. The 10% rating of this PSU is 36W, which this system is below.

I am going to build another one of these and make a NAS out of it with FreeNAS!! :)p

Pros: Bought this, it shows up two days later, installed and called the TW number that the manual suggests, talked for a few minutes. Gave them the MAC address, done. Getting speeds above 60Mbps down, about 5Mbps up.

I have been reading about the faster new DOCSIS 3.0 modems and decided to buy instead of rent from TW.

Cons: Nada.

Other Thoughts: I was expecting this to be painful, but it was not. Super easy. Good buy.
