That's what it's for

Intel 311 Series Larsen Creek SSDSA2VP020G201 2.5" 20GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk
Intel 311 Series Larsen Creek SSDSA2VP020G201 2.5" 20GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk

Pros: Using this for a ZIL (ZFS Intent log) drive. It's perfect for this since my cache size is only about half of the disk's capacity and it's a huge savings over the older 32GB Intel X25-E (that you can't even buy anymore).

Cons: Small size means they are sort of slow - <3.5k IOPS for random writes isn't any worse than the X25-E, but it won't win any awards. Luckily the ZIL doesn't need high write speed either since we top out around 100MB/s.

Comments: I've been using these drives for most of the last 6 years without incident. I'm about to get the bulk deal and buy 10. The last 10 floppy drives I think I'll ever buy. Ever. Really.

Antec TruePower TRUEBLUE 480 480 W ATX12V Power Supply

Comments: http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_powerSupply.php?ProdID=20481

Looks like I got the revised version of this unit. Mine came with black molex internal connectors and the external molex (like the True550-EPS12 and TrueControl) by the power switch. Works well, very happy - even the box looks good. I also noticed it had a 'beefier' power cord. Antec's website reflects these changes (see link).

Cases (Computer Cases - ATX Form)
Cases (Computer Cases - ATX Form)

Comments: I was looking for a case just like this one. It's really light and the window is very well installed (with poly rivets). It is also just a bit smaller (depth/height) than a 'normal' mid tower which helps portability and reduces mass. The door is of a different design then other Antec cases (the 'dragon' clones like my 1040B) and does not open quite as far - It is well built, though and was a requirement for me since I don't plan on painting anything silver to match the front. The included carry strap is good, but not customized to the case - it could handle a much larger unit (which may be handy). It also has an Antec logo on it which could be placed a bit better - it wraps over the edge quite unceremoniously. I used a small leftover piece of Akasa Pax-mate to pad the top of the clips to limit the chance of them scratching the case. My only issue: The included SL350 PSU is a great unit but is not adequate for my system (a P4 2.4C@3000 with 2 HD, etc.). Antec should definitely consider selling a version of this case with the True480blue (which is what I'm now using). It would likely put the price of this case up with the Antec Sonata, but I think that would be OK.
