Pros: Excellent cooling capacity, most stock CPUs will be cooled near silent, packaging is nice, build quality is great.
Cons: Size, only comes with one fan. Not a fan of the chrome covered plastic beauty caps for the heat pipes. But i
You must plan for the size of this thing or you wont be happy!
Other Thoughts: Phenom 955 @ 4.1ghz, 1.5v - 58C
Asus Crosshair V
Corsair Dominator 16gb
Rosewill Blackhawk Case
I purchased this because I had a Corsair H60 fail on me. I decided I wanted something that I could just replace a fan if that failed, or even run it as a passive (downclocked cpu of course) if need be.
Just barely fits inside the Rosewill Blackhawk Case!
I also mounted this unit with air flow going vertical instead of horizontal. This way if the fans (i added a 2nd fan) fails, convection should help keep it cool-ish. This should also work better for the heatpipes, as they can be sensitive to gravity (not proven with this particular unit)
It does have problems clearing the Dominator ram sticks I have, I removed the top heat sinks from the ram and the unit fit. It is also worth noting that you can mount the fan higher up on the heatsink if you need too. This might expose parts of the fan to open air, but you will gain some clearance.
Pros: Every feature you could need in an overclocking platform.
This board holds the world record overclock.
Great Sound Quality
No problems with picking the wrong setting, detects a bad overclock and lets you change it after reboot.
ROG Connect is great for troubleshooting/overclocking while gaming
Looks great in a case or outside it.
Cons: No firewire (who cares?)
No 2nd Nic (who cares?)
Slowish POST (self checks?)
Other Thoughts: Im running a 955 at 4.0ghz with the memory at 1764mhz. Board is rock solid, IF YOU SET IT UP PROPERLY! A single setting change can make you go from stable @ 4.2ghz but being unstable at 3.8ghz
This is not a board ment for the 'gamer' or 'techie'. This is for the HARDCORE overclocker or tweaker who wants to go waaay beyond what most boards can dream of doing.
