Pros: Fairly low cost.
Cons: Purchased 4 drives in spring of 2014. By fall of 2015, 3 had failed. All showing bad SMART data, failing to recognize, failing to write date.
Other Thoughts: The Seagate RMA process is easy......ask me how I know!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Purchased two of the 3 TB drives for a WHS server. Formats to 2.7 TB using MBR. Best price per TB I found. Drives were well packaged for shipping, looks like Newegg has figured this out.
Cons: None yet.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SYBA SY-PCI40010 PCI SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) RAID Controller Card
Pros: Using this card in a older P4 Mobo running WHS (the older version, not 2011). I had no PCIe slots, only PCI. Mobo recognized the card right away, WHS not so much.
Cons: Requires a BIOS update to either the NON-RAID BIOS, if you do not want to run an array. OR the RAID BIOS to run one of the many RAID version that the card supports.
Other Thoughts: Go the the Silicon Image website and download the 6.6 bios update. As others have said, flash either the "r" version for RAID or the non-"r" version for no RAID. Reboot and update your drivers according to the setup you intend to run.
I am having issues with the 2TB file limit in WHS, but that is a problem with the OS, not the card.
