5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cheap Card

Pros: Bought two of these cards to try the new SLI motherbroad I got I was just amazed at what these cards can do seprately and together playing crisis in SLI as high as I can go I get around 60-80 frames with SLI off I still get 40 frames

Cons: They like to run a little hot when under a load like when playing crisis but I don't know alot of GPU that don't run a little hot under a load, under load I run 65C but in normal use I average 40C the cooling fan fins also get in the way of the pci slot under one of the cards but I have plenty so its not a big problem.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a cheap GPU that can get the job done look no further for my next build thinking about trying there 9800 model in this brand. But a great card for little money, also don't hold your breath waiting for the rebates but they will come KFA is good at dragging there feet took me like 3 months to get mine.

4 out of 5 eggsmeets my needs, but minor disappointment

Pros: I bought this video card to replace an aling MSI 8500. I chose this one as it was a very basic card that would fit in nicely with the blue theme of my PC. It does what I need it to, which is essencially to keep windows happy.

Cons: I thought this card's 512 MB of memory was onboard, and Bios seems to agree with me, but after installing this card, windows XP Media Center Edition only recognizes 2.5 GB of the 4 GB of ram I have installed.

Other Thoughts: Cpuz and Bios still recognize all my ram, so it's definitely not a hardware issue, and I remember Windows recognizing 3 GB prior to installing this card. I guess it's not a huge problem, as my pc is working as well as ever, but it's really disappointing, especially since I'm a blind computer user who has almost no use for a video card in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsWell Worth the Risk

Pros: First Time Builder, I took a risk in my graphics card by buying one from a "non-household named brand" in kfa2. However, my gamble payed off very nicely. Great Card for the average gamer with a low budget. DirectX10, etc., etc. Highly recommended.

Cons: CD didn't have necessary software for Vista 64 bit, but the website did have it. The Rebate process isn't very good, I've been waiting a month and I've had no confirmation that they received my form. But, I can live with that.

Other Thoughts: For 50 dollars, there isn't much that can beat this card. If you are one who needs an MSI or EVGA card, I highly recommend biting your tongue and getting this one! 5000 Black Edition, 2 Gigs of OCZ Memory, gigabyte mobo, and this budget friendly card.

5 out of 5 eggsstrange rebate

Pros: Solid mid-range product, if you are not a demanding gamer. Decent video card, factory OC, 512 MB. Using it with a Linux box @1680*1050, DVI, excellent performance with compiz. Price (see other thoughts though).

Cons: Not DDR3, KFA has only one year warranty (not important anyway, it is not a high-end card).

Other Thoughts: Registered the rebate as directed, and received the following confirmation:
Tracking Number: ************
Rebate Offer: $40 MIR on Galaxy KFA2 GeForce 8600 GT - 512MB DDR2, PCI-E, SLI, DVI, VGA, HDTV, Video Card (86GFE8HDFEXX)
Rebate Item : Galaxy KFA2 GeForce 8600 GT 512MB PCIe w/DVI/TV-OUT Video Card
Rebate Award: $0.00
Service level Basic: $0.00
Final Award: $0.00
Does this "$0.00" mean there is really no $40 MIR? Corrected $0 changing it into $40 on the printout form. The rebate was registered on Jun23, have not heard from them since then (says "...awaiting receipt of documentation" -- mailed more than a month ago).

5 out of 5 eggsDefinite Step Up

Pros: Because I do a fair amount of graphic design, I've been obstinately holding on to my CRT monitor and need a PCI-E video card that has the old D-Sub connector. They're getting harder to find (digital to analog signal converters are available, but I'm not ready to spend $250-300 for one yet). My first such was an MSI NX8500GT, which was... adequate most of the time. At infrequent, random intervals it froze my entire system and caused the screen to bloom with static. Not so this KFA2. It has worked flawlessly, and also held up fine when I played BioShock recently. There are faster, more powerful cards to be sure. but among those on the mid to low end this gives you good performance for the price.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsLow-cost upgrade for a older PC

Pros: $49.99 after rebate for a 512MB 8600GT was a heck of a deal considering I originally planned on purchasing a 8400GS-256MB for $36 after rebate! I actually bought two of these as upgrades from onboard graphics (ATI Xpress 200). I'm not into videogames, but my son's testimony bears out the good value of this card. He plays Gary's Mod and Counterstrike on a Compaq with Sempron 3400, 1GB RAM, and ATI Express 200. He was getting at best 30FPS with the lowest game graphics settings, 7FPS if he tried to turn on higer level graphics. After installing this card, he turned on all the highest-level graphics and was able to average 59FPS, ranging 45-95FPS depending on the complexity of the screen action. Also, the fan is quiet to our surprise.

The second card went into a HP WinXP MediaCenter PC, 2GB RAM and Athlon 64x2-4200. I don't play games, but my graphics improved overall, for example DVD's and using photo-editing tools.

Cons: None so far. Fan is quiet on both cards, both PCs. Great value after rebate.

Other Thoughts: We used PC Wizard 2008 to benchmark each PC before installing the new video cards. The video score for the Sempron-3400 PC went from 79 with onboard ATI Express 200, to 870 with the 8600GT. The video score for the Atlhon 64x2-4200 PC went from 187 to 1022.

5 out of 5 eggsA lot for the money!

Pros: For under $50 after rebate, you can't beat this card! Even though it's only a DDR2 version of the 8600GT it still delivers at least twice the frame rate of the 8400 GS it replaced in my computer. Quality construction! I really like the heat sink/fan! Heat sink does no extend into the adjacent expansion slot. Although the heat sink does not actually make contact with the memory chips its slotted veins direct air from the fan out and over them. The heat sink is attached firmly with screws, not wimpy push pins. The fan is barely audible. Does not need a discreet power connector but gets all its power from the PCI-E slot. Finally, even though it is a DDR2 card instead of DDR3 this is compensated for somewhat by the factory over-clocked GPU which is set at 600 mhz instead of the usual 540. This nice performance tweak isn't even underscored in the ads. I accidentally stumbled upon it when comparing the specs with that of other 8600 GTs.

Cons: Not DDR3.
