5 out of 5 eggsMultiple Deployments, 4 Years of ownership, Thousands of hours of use...

Pros: My Sony Pulse Elites have literally seen it all...
So When I Say these are the best sounding headphones I've owned in the last decade of gaming and studio listening, I am not saying so without reason. I Cannot stress how Immersive they are for gaming, and If that is your thing, than these are your headphones. I used them on my PS3/PS4 for a couple years and when I switched to PC gaming they worked flawlessly with minimal set up.

What makes them so good in my opinion is the combination of the virtual surround, and pulsing bass. I haven't seen this feature on any other headset on the market. you can adjust the effect of the vibration and it's always cool to see the reaction my friends have when they throw these on and you can FEEL the explosions and hear your environment as if you are there.

I have taken these on many deployments, and put them through thousands of hours of gaming. They held up pretty well, and if anything ever happens to them I will buy another pair. they are very tight, and have excellent noise cancelling which is crucial on long C-130 flights. The battery still lasts a couple hours, and if you burn it out you can listen to them un-powered without the boost or pulse. The cups have just started to show their age and the material sometimes flakes away like most headphone cups do. After two years I encountered the common problem of them cracking near the head band. I solved this with two zip ties and super glue before it got too bad, since then they have been rock solid. Despite a few ppl saying they don't, they actually do play when you charge them, I have mine powered up via usb 90% of the time i'm using them.

-Excellent sound quality
-Very immersive 7.1 virtual surround
-Immersive Pulse feature makes for very realistic environment and bass boost effect
-Bass is pretty powerful
-Very adjustable sound quality and features
-Despite flaw in headband, Rock solid build that's survived many overseas deployments
-pretty good battery life even after 4 years
-Can be charged while in use!
-Design is very subtle and mature looking
-Tight fit, good sound cancelling
-Works with PC, PS4 and my Iphone
-Mic is tucked away and still good quality

Cons: Cons
-Flaw in headband that cracked after two years, had to glue and attach zip ties
(fixed problem, hasn't been an issue since)
-When there is silence, sometimes you can hear creaking coming from the adjusters, or even the power cable rubbing on your shirt, only noticeable if you are sitting for extended periods of time with them on playing nothing.
-Unfortunately you are required to use Sonys USB Bluetooth dongle.. Do Not Lose THIS! Luckily I have mine after all this time, and all these places... but the headset is matched to this dongle and is unusable in 80% of its modes without it... Also you cannot get a replacement, and you would have to get a new headset if lost.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend these, but I'm hoping that when it comes time to replace mine there are still plenty left. I will say that if you do not enjoy tight headphones, or you have issues with your eardrums, don't buy these. you can turn off the pulse effect, but If that feature isn't for you there may be better headphones out there. There are too many pros for me to give this anything other than a 5/5. and for the price there's no reason not to get these over any other gimmicky or "gaming" headsets. Sony got something right with these, and Unless they release another version of the pulses, i'll be sticking with this model.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent... But by no way would I recommend it.

Pros: -Good bass
-Nice surround sound especially in games like Planetside 2 and the Call of Duty titles

Cons: -Very bulky
-Short Battery life
-Tenny
-Terrible microphone
-Wireless adapter messes up quiet often
-And to reiterate, A TERRIBLE battery life. I have to have this on the charger like 99% of the time.
-Headband hurts head
-Ear cups aren't breathable (Would not recommend for long use while gaming)
-Mic Sider really does nothing
-Too expensive
-I've had it for a month and have already notice small cracks in the cheap plastic (I baby this headset)

Other Thoughts: It really is not worth the time and money to get this headset. I had to legitimately REWIRE the headset because the seller would not accept the item for return when it was clearly broken. (The wires connecting to the right headset were messed up and weren't soldered correctly). It also does not come with a charging cable, so you better have a mini USB...

I would advise highly against this headset. I would go with the Astro A50 or a wireless Turtle Beach headset. There are also tons of good wired headsets so don't be afraid to buy one.

Overview: Don't buy this product. It's rubbish.

4 out of 5 eggsHeadset

Pros: Excellent sound and clarity. Felt great. Control of sound and mic was good as well.

Cons: Plastic will crack but will take along time. What did my pair in is my daughter sat on them.

Other Thoughts: Even after owning them for two years and I have owned many headsets. If I could have gotten another pair I would have. I had to settle for something else which is good but not as good. The price is right.

1 out of 5 eggsDont Bother wasting your time or money

Pros: Bass is loud.

Cons: Very heavy and tight around your ears. Flawed design with cheap plastic and the bass will eventually break/crack the plastic on the outside of headset. Adult owned and mine lasted just over a year, and thats because I babied them for that time. Sony is well aware of the defect as many customers have had the same issue but refuses to do anything about it. They are still selling them with the same issue. I called them and they told me they would not do anything for me. I spent alot of money on this headset and I will never buy another Sony product again based solely on their refusal to do anything about an issue they are well aware of. Not to mention the lack of quality in this product is ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: They say you get what you pay for but in this case just because you spend alot on a Sony product doesnt mean you will get a good quality product or near what you expect. As the the title says Dont bother wasting your time or money.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful build quality

Pros: Comfortable. Good audio quality.

Cons: The build quality if awful. Cheap plastic is used in a high-stress area that will eventually crack/snap no matter how carefully you treat the headphones. It can be band-aided with glue/zip-ties but is a serious flaw. My unit will no longer charge, which means no more wireless, bass impact (which was annoying anyway), and mic, so they're just another pair of wired headphones... held together with glue and zip-ties, that will eventually completely fall apart.

Other Thoughts: Do not purchase these. I was unaware of the build quality issues before my purchase. It wasn't until cracks appeared that I found many others with the same problems.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat headset - cheap plastic

Pros: Easy to wear for hours. Charge lasts hours. Wireless.

Cons: First headset only one ear worked.
Got replacement via Newegg and Headset is cheap plastic.

Headband broke within less than 6 months of daily use with adult care.

Pity.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK!

Pros: NONE!

Cons: First one I had to do factory reset every time I powered it on just to get it to sync! And none of the buttons and volume adjustment work! Second one SAME THING! Sony support want you to pay shipping to send it to them! Never buying Sony anything EVER again! AND NOW NEWEGG WON'T GIVE ME A REFUND!

Other Thoughts: The Sony Google TV I own is pretty useless since they quit supporting it 2 months after I bought it. And my PS4 controller lasted 3 months before it just died. Sony wouldn't help. Done with this console junk. Going back to PC.

4 out of 5 eggsBass is amazing.

Pros: Audio is vivid and great. It's bass is also crazy in my opinion. Literally vibrates with the bass boost option. The built in microphone is also very nice as well. Surprisingly does not pick up the audio around it much at all.

Cons: The only problems with this is that its actually quite heavy and tight clamping, which becomes very uncomfortable on the ears and head over time.

Other Thoughts: I actually ended up buying two of these. One back in May of 2014 and again in October of that year. In 5 months, I got a torn coil in the right ear piece causing uneven sound. So I contacted Sony since it was still under the warranty period. However they returned to me the incorrect product and would not correct this issue. Unbelievably I just decided to buy another pair because the one they sent me was such a lower quality in comparison. I take no eggs off for this though, as it's not related to the product.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound, some flaws

Pros: -Like the title says, it has great sound, and syncs up great to my PS4. Putting the system sound through the headset is a nice touch as well, but thankfully that's an option.
-Mic seems to be pretty clear, haven't had any complaints.

Cons: -In an attempt to be noise cancelling, it in effect does just that, including dampening of my voice. If i speak, it's rather muffled, and I'm shocked I haven't seen this complaint more.
-Short battery life. Used an old usb connection so it also charges slowly, too.
-The buttons are awkward to learn.

Other Thoughts: The 1 egg deduction is mostly for the muffled voice complaint. While the battery life is short I can't really complain too much, since there's always the mic that came with the system, which isn't awful.

The buttons, while awkward, aren't used that much, aside from the power button. The boomsound isn't really useful because feeling vibrations behind my ears isn't very appealing.

3 out of 5 eggsLove them but they are flawed...

Pros: -Excellent Sound Quality: when watching shows and movies with these I hear a lot of details I would have missed through my sound system, without waking anyone else in the house. The virtual surround is pretty good but not perfect. When Gaming I can mostly tell where the sounds are coming from.
-Universal: you can plug the dongle in to the ps3, ps4, pc and even a chromebook and it just works. You can also use a standard aux cable and use them like headphones. Or plug the dongle in to a usb charger and an aux cable from a sound source in to the dongle and you can make nearly any sound source wireless.
-General Quality: just looking at these you can tell they are good quality.
-Battery life: These will easily last through a few hours of gaming and a few more hours of movies/tv shows afterwards. If the battery does get low you can use a long mini usb cable to seamlessly keep them powered up.
-Comfort: The ear cups are very comfortable, even after several hours.

Cons: -The well-known cracking issue: I have absolutely babied my headphones. No one has touched them but me. I keep them in a safe spot on the counter when not in use and have never dropped them. Both sides just above the ear cups are cracked and on the verge of catastrophic failure. This was very dissapointing when I realized it was happening to me. I was aware of this possibility before purchase, but bought them anyway because of the great reviews. I was hoping the cracked ones were just an old design or from abuse by the users but I was wrong. Mine are in the process of being sent back to sony for repairs because luckily I noticed the cracks just as the 1 year warranty was expiring. You can reserach this issue and find where even a sony engineer recommends using galvanized wire the add strength to the area.
-Comfort: The headband is not very comfortable. The soft material is fine but there is not enough surface area there to spread the pressure out. It feels like once the soft rubber is compressed the hard plastic corners start to dig in to your skin a little. I had to modify mine with a piece of foam and fabric and can now where them indefinitely.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love the headphones. Once mine get back from repair I am going to change how I take them off and put them on and hope that they last longer. Before I used the ear cups to stretch them around my possibly larger than normal head, now I will try spreading them by grabbing the lowest points of the headband. It's too bad Sony didn't release a revised design with a better structure/material in that area but I think they have moved on. I will come back and change my review to a 5 if they fix the headband comfort and cracking issues.

-Bassimpact: I mainly game and watch movies with these, so I don't really use this feature. I suppose it could make the bass feel more intense when listening to music.
