5 out of 5 eggsgreat features

Pros: This board has all the features I wanted from a mother board for my fx8320 and has been working great so far. Works good for overclocking.

Cons: it is not red and black like the rest of my computer parts.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Borad/UEFI Lacking/USB Solution

Pros: Is a decent board that has a lot of features, not a lot of bloatware and the price is right.

Cons: Socket is HOT HOT HOT!!! Socket runs up to 70C on load at only a 600 Mhz overclock WITH liquid cooling. Use AMD Overdirve when running Prime95 to check the thermal margin while overclocking this board or you will think you are frying your system.

UEFI is hard to get a stable overclock. Can't adjust the DRAM multiplier when overclocking. It caused system instability when overclocking via processor speed, which is my preferred method. However it overclocked great when I used the multiplier method without messing with the RAM speed.

Overall it's a great board, but not easy to overclock with.

USB Issue is an easy fix that I found on the forum.

1. Open up Device Manager
2. Right click the device (the one with an exclamation mark)
3. Select "Uninstall", and check the option to also remove the driver in the process
4. Reboot
5. Wait for windows to scan the devices
6. Extract the Latest Drivers folder on the desktop
7. Install a fresh copy of the driver by Right Clicking and Browsing towards the Drivers folder ( DO NOT USE THE SETUP.EXE to install)
8. If it still show the item with an exclamation still RIGHT click and update drivers using internet.

Follow these direction EXACTLY and it will work.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this board for an ADVANCED users only. IF you are new to overclocking you might want to go ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI.
If you want to overclock your 8350 to 5ghz, this is NOT the board for you.
I personally am ok with 4.6 GHZ out of my 8350, but if you attempt that with this board it might catch fire!

5 out of 5 eggssmooth sailing....so far

Pros: goodly amount of usb
the most intuitive bios I've ever used
very easy to overclock
love the interactive map of the mobo
one of the few boards that can handle 220w

Cons: could use one more usb
overclocking the ram not as responsive as is overclocking the cpu, imho.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board to replace the asrock 990fx killer that was set ablaze (literally) by my fx 9590 cpu. When I first installed the board I could get no video or usb power. I bought a $25 Sempron 130 (2.6 ghz) to rule out 9590 as the culprit, which it was. So for the moment all I have is the old Sempron, but the with the mobo I was able to overclock it to 3.25 ghz and get respectable function. With COD4 at full graphics settings and coupled with an R9 290 vga I only occasionally lag and the CPU seems very stable never going above 48c.

1 out of 5 eggsBad board

Pros: Great layout, many SATA's

Cons: one DIMM channel did not work. Blue screened while installing drivers twice. Instillation also turned off back panel USB ports. Had to go through heaven and hell to get 3.0 connectors to work.

Other Thoughts: But, for those who say they're are scratches on the heat sinks, just pull the plastic wrap covering off.

This was my first and last AsRock Product and I don't need a response from the Manufacturer/

5 out of 5 eggsEXtreme 9

Pros: Good VRM, easy to overclock. Pushed a 8350 to 4.8ghz without a sweat. Great build quality.

Cons: My only con is that the onboard lan did not work out of the box. I had to manual install it from the cd, but that is not worth loosing an egg over. And unfortunately the gold and brown color scheme does not match anything on my case.

Other Thoughts: I have had ASUS and MSI boards before, but this ASrock is by FAR the nicest mobo I have owned.

5 out of 5 eggsBullet-proof... almost

Pros: This is after 4 months of ownership, and I have nearly nothing negative to say about it. Out of the box it was fully ready for the FX-9590, so that pretty much means ANY FX series CPU on the market will work. The 12+2 power-phase design is probably overkill as I am not intending to OC this already flaming CPU, but I am comfortable that the power system is comfortable running 220W without stressing.

The layout, double USB 3.0 headers, and just overall over-equipped nature of the board has me with free USB ports and free expansion slots, and that in and of itself is worth it.

I've heard a lot of "the UEFI is hard to follow" but either I'm weird, or those reviewers are because it was INCREDIBLY simple to walk through and set up.

Even though the FX-9590 is technically capped at an 1866 I was able to bump the on-die memory controller to 2133Mhz. As I do a lot of intensive calculation software (video trans-coding and editing) this speed boost is actually appreciable (3-5% speed increase) and not all 990FX boards OC the memory controller well. 4 8GB G.SKILL DIMMs were registered immediately by the board.

The included RAM Disk software gives a lot more space options than other free software packs, and having 16GB space for raw video and 16GB space usable memory makes this system cruise through even multi-layer compositions.

Cons: The included ASRock eXtreme Tuner software, even the latest version on the website, has a bug that will interact with UEFI fan temperature control options if that feature is enabled in the software as well. This can cause the OS to fully lock up, and puzzled the heck out of me, and I ALMOST gave up before it came to me. If you don't need constant control, set your fan modes in UEFI and don't bother with software overhead.

Other Thoughts: As with any mainboard, especially those overloaded like this is, don't bother with the software CDs. Get the latest drivers from the ASRock website for the best and most stable operation.

1 out of 5 eggsASRock 990FX Extreme3

Pros: None

Cons: Silly board was dead out of the box; I have had no end of trouble with ASROCK mother boards. I will never buy another one again. Spend the extra money and buy Asus Crosshair Z

Other Thoughts: Almost pure garbage.

2 out of 5 eggsASROCK 990fx Extreme9

Pros: Easy overclock

Cons: USB 3.0 issues- See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I bought this a couple months ago, and have never been able to get the USB 3.0 to work with my USB 3.0 ext hdd.
Ive tried EVERYTHING, checked all the forums and found that I am not the only one with this issue.
If USB 3.O is not that important to you then this is a good board for the price, but me, I want what is promised when I spend my hard earned money, and this board did not deliver.
So I am getting rid of it, and getting what I wanted in the first place, the Crosshair V formula-z.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the USB 3.0, please set the UEFI BIOS default.
Download and install the Etron USB 3.0 driver at link " http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme9/?cat=Download ".
Test with another USB 3.0 devices.

5 out of 5 eggs¡¡Great Motherboard!!

Pros: Fast!! Plenty of connections!! eSata, Sata, infrared, RS-232 on board, Firewire, USB 2, USB 3, etc. Loaded it with 32 GB of RAM. Worked perfectly!! Headers thoughout varied parts of MOBO make for easy set-up. BIOS well designed; intuitive.

Cons: Could still use Centronics parallel port!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid board

Pros: Lots of features, great overclocking potential. Nice layout, easy to install everything. Got my FX9370 @ 5.34GHz under water on this board, stable power delivery (and an FX at those speeds and required voltages uses plenty of power).

Cons: The board can be picky regarding which SATA ports to use for RAID, I found this out when I couldn't get my harddrives both recognized. The bios takes a little more getting used to than other manufacturers, but that is just my personal taste. LLC settings seem backwards, had to set them at stock clocks and write down where my voltages ended up while using them to get a better understanding of them.

Other Thoughts: Great board for the hobbyist overclocker with lots of usable features. I'd buy this one again.
