3 out of 5 eggsLeft me Wanting More...

Pros: Sleek, nice back lit keyboard, solid design/feeling to casing.

Cons: I bought this laptop at the suggestion of a more tech savvy friend. They assured me it would get me the most bang for my $1200. Unfortunately, there must be some kind of issue with the graphics card, because this thing is a complete and utter wimp when it comes to running the simplest games. Even on lowest settings most games were disappointing or unplayable. While it may work for simple tasks like surfing the web or word processing, and feels as if it would stand the test of time if that's all it were asked to do, this just felt like it should've cost me at least 400 dollars less.

I was super, super disappointed with the gaming performance.

Also, the mouse pad is annoyingly placed/sensitive. A little to the left of center, my palm accidentally brushes it every time I hit the space bar. Luckily, there is a hot key to turn it off, and mouses are affordable...

However, if you aren't looking to use this at a desk every time, I'd start searching for a new laptop...

Other Thoughts: I wish I hadn't wasted a week getting this laptop.

2 out of 5 eggsDesign flaw - switchable graphics

Pros: Sleek, lightweight, beautiful. Nice keyboard backlight settings, nice keyboard feel, nice screen. Would be the perfect laptop for me except for the graphics card issues (see cons).

Cons: Design flaw with switchable graphics. I do not know if it is a hardware or driver issue (customer service would not admit to any problems), but the computer would not run certain games with the discrete video card. HP and Sony offer a solution by allowing the user to manually switch the display adapter, but Samsung does not.

Gets really hot when playing games (Skyrim on lowest quality)

Other Thoughts: Too bad! I really liked it but can't stand the graphics issues.

2 out of 5 eggsFatal Flaws

Pros: This machine is in many ways absolutely wonderful, fast, light, etc; BUT....

Cons: All the usual new computer annoyances that I will not mention. It has some serious flaws, some I can live with, one that I cannot. Can live with? Even with the Samsung updates the WiFi is very bad because of the poor antenna placement. Plan on using a USB WiFi adapter if you have marginal signal, not a show stopper. Also, you have to order some adapters that should be included (HDMI, VGA). Also the Power connector looks very flimsy and will not tolerate even the slightest abuse.

The killer is the Ethernet dongle. I am a network tech and use it often, it is already failing. The connector is ridiculously tiny and flimsy and will break if you even look at if funny. Too bad, but this one thing renders the machine useless at least for me.

Other Thoughts: Really tragic for a machine with such incredible potential to miss the mark on one item that could have been better designed so easily. If you only use WiFi this might not affect you.

5 out of 5 eggsmy favorite laptop yet

Pros: Super light weight, fast and the battery is as good as the reviews say it is. Even on samsungs eco mode its really fast. The resume times are amazing. I love all the top row keys that do all the little things like backlight brightness for the keyboard.

Cons: The samsung software is a must for all the features to work. I like to wipe my computers clean when I get them and load my own image. I had to spend like 3 hours trying to get the samsung downloads which are really slow.

Other Thoughts: I dont see any issues with the trackpad. I have a macbook as well and its very similar to that. If i had the chance to buy another laptop I wouldnt. Its thin, light, and fast. The battery gets me about 5 actual hours with a chat client, wamp, itunes and a webserver all running.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Light, slick, powerful, well priced. Loud speakers, nice screen, backlit keyboard.

Cons: Bad touchpad, having screen brightness flickering issues after uninstalling samsung's proprietary software.

3 out of 5 eggsfalls short

Pros: speed, features, usb 3, gigabit ethernet, thin though a bit dense. quiet. fast resume.

Cons: 1-unusable mouse. mouse pointer lags, mouse buttons should not detect motion at same time as clicking.
2-This model does NOT have WiDi - Intel Wireless Display.
3-Screen sucks. I prefer non-glossy screens BUT this one is hard to look at and hurts the eyes. maybe because the bad backlighting. i prefer my old vaio's glossy screen.
4- sound sucks.

Other Thoughts: oh well, i was ready to pay anything for the right computer, and i wanted this to be the one, but it's just disappointing and unusable.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad but heavy

Pros: Small and thin. It's half the thickness I expected. Has a good look to it. Screen is nice, which is one of the main reasons I got this laptop - for photography use. Has two USB 3.0 ports!

Cons: The WORST touchpad I've ever used, hands down. Mouse wheel scrolling with it almost never works. Because of the extreme widescreen aspect ratio, the screen appears smaller than the measurements. No way to generate a Windows install DVD that I can find. It will backup the driver disks for you to a DVD, but not Windows. No physical eject button for the DVD player slot.

Other Thoughts: I hate touchpads anyway, but this one is completely unusable. Thankfully I always use a wireless laptop mouse and won't be worrying about it most of the time. If your wrists are hitting the "sharp edge" people mention then you are not using it ergonomically anyway - don't rest your hands on it.

5 out of 5 eggssolid performing laptop

Pros: Slick and well made laptop, very fast (about 18-20sec boot time thanks to the onboard 8GB SSD), quiet, not too heavy, good size for traveling, plays most games in medium to ultra settings, remains pretty cool even under heavy load, very bright screen, auto-contrast adjusts nicely to games and movies/videos, probably best laptop for the price, Samsung software manager actually works well.
Make sure you use the Samsung software manager to update the video driver, the new driver solves alot of the issues it had before and the laptop gives you the option to choose for each program which video to use (Intel vs the dedicated AMD)

Cons: a couple keys aren't sensing well, don't have the space bar issues many reviews had, track pad actually works well (it helps to read the user manual first), but the light sensor is jumpy and auto dimming is annoying, viewing angle is horrible, and the track pad position makes typing awkward

Other Thoughts: Decent Windows 7 Experience Index:
CPU: 7.5
RAM: 7.6
Graphics: 6.7
Gaming Graphics: 6.7
Hard Disk: 5.9
I am very happy with the purchase, it is a great desktop replacement, it's like having my desktop while I am on the road.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, but suffers from mediocre build quality and poor linux compatibility

Pros: Gorgeous screen, very powerful internals and a great aesthetic. Very well built for the most part (see cons) with a very sophisticated look. With windows it has a great battery life and awesome graphics.

Cons: While the metal shell feels great and gives it a very sophisticated look the areas where they join the pieces are pretty rough. This is especially pronounced around the wrist rest where the join is is uneven and very sharp, making resting your wrists for a while a painful prospect.

After testing it out with windows I wiped the hard drive and installed Linux Mint 12. The video card does not play well with the drivers provided by ATI and the battery life under Linux is atrocious, giving me around 2 hours of life.

Also the touchpad is simply bad. It misread right clicks around 25% of the time under both windows and Linux, it alternates between being overly sensitive and not enough, and the only way to really use it is to turn it off and use an external mouse.

Other Thoughts: If the build quality and trackpad were better I would easily pay $1200 for it. As it is I don't recommend anyone pay that price. I managed to pick mine up for about $1000 which seemed about right.
