Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Decent First Bass
Pros: The construction is sturdy, neck and fingerboard are not warped. Sounds pretty good with a decent amp. The metal hardware seems rugged enough and the tuning keys have no play, so tuning is easy.
Cons: One of the pots is not functional. I had to rewire the bass, bypassing the middle pickup control. I should have returned it but I didn't .

Setup on the neck was a little high, I lowered it and although I get a little buzz, the action is comfortable for me. I might go with somewhat lighter gauge strings in the future.
Other Thoughts: I actually like this bass quite a bit. It's reasonably rugged and sounds good for the money. It makes a good daily use bass. I like to customize my instruments (like my computers ;) so I'll probably replace the pickups and the controls sometime.

Categories > Bass Accessories > TASCAM > TASCAM MP-BT1 MP3 Trainer for Bassist

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Truth is ...
Pros: small, lite, lots of tweaks... internal rechargeable battery. charge via usb. I can walk around and practice with a small package. Portable. firmware upgradeable.
Cons: You have to be forgiving, works as best as it can to take out bass, or similar adjustments. sound quality is good, not great. there is a learning curve to get the options down. usb wire is short. only one gig of memory and doesnt expand. must purchase power adapter seperate.
took over 2 weeks to deliver.
Other Thoughts: You need good headphones. You can do the same thing and maybe better with many good programs on a pc. You can save much if you shop. but most of all, newegg took over 2 weeks to ship after recieving payment. I found it online for 80% less cost and 3 days shipping with the A store. not my typical newegg experience. Would i buy again ? I guess so...

Categories > Bass Accessories > TASCAM > TASCAM GTR1 Portable Guitar and Bass Recorder

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Would be nice if it worked...
Pros: Recording quality is very nice. Sound files produced sound good through the line out or when transferred to a computer. Computer support is really nice too since it attaches to the host system as a USB Mass Storage Device. I haven't messed with any of the Guitar/Bass features since the device was purchased for recording orchestral performances.
Cons: Locked up within 2 or 3 minutes of use. Had to remove and replace the battery. Upgraded the firmware per Teac/Tascam and now only runs for 30 seconds or less without freezing. I will be exchanging this for a new one. (Hopefully)

That aside: there's no internal speaker for playback. That's a huge drawback for anyone not lugging around a bunch of additional equipment.
Other Thoughts: Probably just a fluke. Tascam is a fairly well-respected name in recording.
