Pros: For the $100 range this is a tremendous value. Surely your already aware of Hakko's quality in general if your already looking at these.
The power supply is very heavy and very robust construction. Top notch in every way. The pencil is thin, lightweight, and the grip area is placed to make it well balanced in your hand.
The iron will heat up to any temp extremely fast and output temps are modulated very accurately/consistently.
The iron holder is solid, sturdy, stays put pretty well, and holds the tip correctly centered in the open area so it can't rest against the edge of the holder. Although the holder is all metal so no risk of fire or real damage anyway.
The stock unit ships with a small chisel tip which is the best for most type of general work, where as most irons ship with less a useful fine point conical tip.
This particular package from this seller included 5 additional genuine Hakko tips of various sizes, and a laminated reorder chart of all the available tips and part numbers. Nice reference to have quick access to.
This FX888D model is the revised digital temp selection version of the very popular FX888. The FX888 was the successor to the Hakko 936 which was an industry leader in it's price range for 20 years. There is a lot of R&D and real world use behind this unit, so don't let the purple color detract from taking this iron seriously.
Other Thoughts: If you need an affordable workhorse iron that destroys all the sub-$100 irons in every way then this is it, there's really nothing that can touch the quality of this until you get in to many $100's of dollars beyond it.
Don't waste your time with any type of fixed wattage irons, you will understand once after the first few times you use a good quality iron.

Pros: Heats up quick! Keeps its temperature when soldering LED's.
Cons: Im new, I wish it came with more tips for me to mess up.
Other Thoughts: I have been using a $15 soldering pen for years. I have never been satisfied. Whenever I go online to check out tutorials, my favorite teachers all use this one. I feel that I made the correct choice with this soldering station.

Pros: Came with tweezers... I could use those to yank my nose hair out since the product is cheap China made garbage. Could have use my money on something else more productive.
Cons: Received it dented, power plug did not stay in any outlet in my house without someone holding it in while I tried to desolder with it. Did not remove any components when desoldering. Also not sure if it really was a 60w iron that I received as the package did not have the 60w box checked or marked.... I tried to burn a small piece of cardboard with it. It didn't even try to burn through. Couldn't believe it. Probably not even worth returning because it came directly from China which took forever to come.
Other Thoughts: Total fail.

Pros: It works! The stand is actually pretty nice. Nice tip on the soldering iron.
Cons: -the solder it comes with is junk, don't bother with it.. -Not sure what was in the little cardboard box, I think it was supposed to be flux? It was rock solid and looked like beer.. -The iron takes a very long time to heat up, even for a 60w iron. -For 20 dollars you can get something way better... the price on this was too good to be true.

Replacement Housing for D550 Professional Soldering Gun
Cons: Sold and Shipped by: Stanios Industrial Supply they are the worse supplier than anybody I have ever seen. Newegg would do themselves justice to get rid of them!!! Had to call Newegg to get Stanios Industrial Supply to finally ship the item. Took 3 weeks to get it! Probably would not been here yet! Do not use Stanios Industrial Supply for anything!!
