5 out of 5 eggsBang for your buck!

Pros: 1) cost/features ratio
2) appearance (personal taste)
3) performance

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning

Other Thoughts: If you are building a system similar to mine:
1) you plan on going for a strong OC
2) you don't want a case that weighs down your desk and screams "Gamer"
3) you are going to install a massive aftermarket heatsink
4) you plan on using 4 or less hard drives (just remove the top hard drive cage)

Then I can't think of a better case for you!
Here's what I have going:
AMD FX-6300 @ 4.5GHZ, Noctua NH-D14 heatsink, R7870 GPU, 1 SSD (OS), 2 HDD's (RAID 0 for storage)

You can install a 120mm side intake fan under the heatsink (if you use cable ties)

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Penny

Pros: The Arc Midi R2 is definitely worth the $90 USD that I spent, especially since this seems to be the only case on the market that costs less for the windowed version. Can you believe that? It’s almost like metal is actually more expensive than plastic. Go figure. The case is sturdy, well built (everything is metal except the front cover and filters), every piece is painted, and the Scandinavian design is perfect for my preferences. It’s elegant in its simplicity. All fan locations are filtered, except for the rear, which should always be an exhaust. These filters are all removable, safe to clean, and only take a few hours to dry. The case comes with 3 Silent Series fans pre-installed. The fans are incredible, even at 100% fan speed, they are barely noticeable by themselves, let alone with the CPU cooling fan. This is bundled together with a fan controller rated at 3 different voltage settings, which is slightly redundant since the fans are almost silent, and no off position. Don’t take my word for it, but this case probably started the customizable HDD cage fad. Who needs 8 hard drives? Come to think of it, who needs 4 optical drives? Most case manufacturers think that everyone does. Not Fractal. With 2 ODD bays and your choice of 3, 5, or 8 HDD bays, this case is designed with versatility in mind. There is also an extra, vertical expansion slot for accessories. I’ve chosen to fill this with an NZXT white LED strip. Since this version comes with a large window as you can see, this LED strip, while showcasing my choice of hardware, also shows everyone my cable management. This case comes with grommets surrounding the motherboard. Each cable can make the shortest trip possible to its destination, meaning a very sleek look that really brings the case together.

Cons: On the other side, I find that the tint is too strong, however... this is an opinion, and a rather nit-picky one at that. The light strip looks better with a tinted window along with my LED CPU fan, however, without any interior light, the tinted window is a little self defeating. The window is also easily scratched, mine coming with multiple minor scratches upon arrival. Hardly noticeable without looking for them. I have a fairly high performance CPU fan, and the case does little to reduce the noise level, but that’s what the Define R4 is for.

Other Thoughts: The ultimate choice for me was between the Define R4, and the Arc Midi R2. With only a $10 price difference at the time of purchase, the Midi pulled ahead slightly. Now, the real choice between the 2 was silence, and heat, vs airflow and cooling. Obviously I thought airflow was more important, as I’m not writing a review for the Define. The computer sits immediately to my right, less than a foot away, and the noise isn't noticeable, unless I’m gaming or benchmarking. Even with my open headphones, I can’t notice a thing. All things considered, I don’t think I could have made a better choice. No other case fit my budget, and no case offered my aesthetic preference.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Looks great, build very well, let's in no dust, has good cable management, lots of storage for HDD and SSDs, semi modular HDD cage for better airflow/looks, good quality included (quiet) fans (3), water-cooling flexibility, great airflow, built in fan controller, top mounted I/O ports, easy to build in, window to see your sexy hardware, and you basically never have to clean your components again.

Cons: The side panels are a traditional style (they have tabs that need to be lined up and slid into place) where as something like Corsairs design where they act like doors would have been MUCH more preferred, but that's only a bother when you have to open it (which isn't often at all).

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Case

Pros: I used this case for a mid-grade build and was pleased with the results. The case is very large and had plenty of room for larger components like the Noctua NH-U14S and the Gigabyte Windforce Cooler.

The cable routing was very nice as well. There was plenty of room to route all the cables behind the MB. Everything cleaned up for a very tidy build.

The cooling of the case is very nice as well. Not only do you have plenty fan mounting options, the case can also be configured for various liquid coolers. There are also filters in place for any fan locations that might be used as intake fans. Overall very nice cooling.

The case is also very sturdy. It does not feel "flexy" as some of the less expensive cases do. With a few exceptions, the fit and finish of the case are very nice.

The Window is a nice touch, but had the case without the window been available when I purchased mine, I probably would have saved the $10 and gotten one without a window.

Over all it is a great case that looks great as well. It was very easy to build in and I would buy it again.

Cons: There are very few cons with this case and most of them are just being picky, but they are there.

1. Screws for the side panel. It would have been nice to see a side mount panel with latches.

2. The top filter/panel of the computer has to be unscrewed to clean the filter of the top fans.

3. The fan filters show dust circles on your intake fans. I know that it is good that they are working, but it would have been easy to mount them just a hair back from the front panel mesh so they would not show the dust so easily.

4. The power switch and fan controller are adequate, but feel cheaply made and not up to the quality of the rest of the case.

That is about all that bothered me in the case. It is a very nice case.

Other Thoughts: Overall great case. You should not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood case, but not trouble free

Pros: I bought this case because it was black, sleek and minimalistic.

Cons: I've had this case for over 6 months now, and for the most part, it's been trouble free. But, there are some

1. The case uses thumbnail screws for everything. I hate thumbnail screws. I need a screwdriver to remove them because they are so tight.
And one of the thumbnail holes was stripped. It spins around and doesn't tighten. I must have gotten a bad case.

2. The outside case design is sleek and boxy, however, some of the corners are too sharp. They need to be rounded out more.

3. The USB 3.0 cable that connects to the motherboard can be very loose. This is because the USB 3.0 cable is very thick and heavy,
so it practically falls out of the connection. I had to jerry-rig a a tie-on strap to fix it into place so it doesn't move.
If this isn't fixed, your USB 3.0 connections may fail to work.

4. The foam dust filters are not replaceable. If they get damaged, you will not find any replacements. After 6 months, my foam
dust filters are slowly ripping and disintegrating because they are so thin. The 120mm fans may be slowly eating them away.
I emailed Fractal Design for a replacement, but they ignored my emails.

5. I searched the entire Fractal Design website for any replacement parts for this case, and they offer nothing at all.
If you need a new front panel, new dust filter, more thumbnail screws, etc... you will find nothing.
Fractal Design doesn't seem to be in the business of selling replacement parts.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Fractal

Pros: Case looks amazing. (looks much better than the pics suggest. Check google images if youreally wanna see what this thing looks like).

Lots of room
Lots of room
Lots of room

Removable filter on the bottom. It slides out from the back! This should be standard on all cases

Wire management. My other case is a haf-x and the wire management is decent. In this case, its incredible. That said, a couple more tie off stands in the back would have been appreciated.

Comes with a peice to let you use a screwdriver

Cons: Filters on the top are the best ive seen in a computer case, that said, they are not removable :( The front is not removable either(they can be taken out, but u have to bend metal which will snap after too many bends). This is very lame when the bottom is removable.

Second con is the same problem. The hard drive cages come out. Thats great b/c we need the room for radiators and a water pump... BUT the 5 1/4/cdrom cage does NOT come out. This just seemed silly to me to make some removable and some not. If there is 1 thing i dont need in a modern computer its a cdrom. Had to drill like 10 rivets.

Other Thoughts: I looked at ALOT of cases. I'm very happy I picked this one.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality

Pros: This product oozes quality.. This case has so much room for anything.. i have an asus z97 hero with a H100i cooler and i can probably fit a bigger radiator with push/pull. i was worried i would hit my RAM, but im not even close. You can swap out hard drvie slots for more room for graphics cards or better ventilation. You can even mount 2 SSD's behind the the motherboard for even more space.. if your looking for a mid sized case, look no further.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: i bought this case from another website, but im writing this review on Neweggs site because i respect the reviews this site has to offer. sorry newegg.. you still got over $1000 from me tho. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: This case is probably one of the best I've ever used. Right up there with Corsair. There is ample room behind the MB tray to hold cables. Plenty of space for anything you could think of. Amazing airflow.
One of the best features of this case are the dust filters. The front and bottom filters are easy to access and work great. The top filter is also a nice touch. A lot of people think its pointless for top air filters because fans usually exhaust out the top but that doesn't mean dust doesn't fall through when the fans aren't running. This makes sure that doesn't happen.
The stock fans are good but I swapped them all out for corsair air series 140mm.
2x front intake
1x bottom intake
3x top exhaust
CPU cooler exhausts out the back with 120mm fan and radiator.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I've seen a lot of reviews where people are stating that the top fans will vibrate. Causing a lot of noise. I haven't had this problem. With the stock fans or after I installed the Corsair AF140s.

The side panel window is tinted. There is no mistaking that. Its dark. Not insanely dark but without case lighting, don't expect to see inside well at all. All my fans are Red LED and with the tinted panel, its exactly what I'm looking for. Nice color that allows me to see inside the window without lighting up my computer room. Clear panels allow too much light through to suit me. I'm looking to light up my computer, not the entire room. Some might not like the tint. To each their own.
