2 out of 5 eggsPoorly made

Pros: It works fine after I messed with it for a few minutes

Cons: There was excess plastic on the ps2 side of the adapter (some had dripped down in there during production) and the ps2 pins weren't properly aligned so it wouldn't plug in my KVM switch. It looks like all of this was caused by a malfunction of some of the production equipment. Fortunately, I was able to remove the dripped plastic with a knife and bend the pins back into shape without too much effort.

Other Thoughts: Manufacturing defects happen, but this one was obvious enough that someone in quality control should have caught it. Given my experience with this brand, I'm not too surprised and knew that I wasn't buying the highest quality when I made the purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly for my needs!

Pros: It works great as a replacement USB-to-PS2 adapter for my mech keyboard!

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: This will only work if your device supports ps2.

3 out of 5 eggsAddendum: Use active USB-to-PS/2 adapter for USB-only device

Pros: This is a followup to my other review regarding users thinking that a passive rewiring adapater will convert their USB-only device into supporting PS/2.

Cons: The price of active USB-to-PS/2 adapters needed to get USB-only devices to support PS/2 ports is quite high.

Other Thoughts: For those trying to use a passive USB-to-PS/2 adapter with a USB-only designed device, see:

"Newer USB keyboards and mice cannot simply use simple adapters to connect to PS/2 ports, as the signal is of a different nature, so active conversion is required for full functionality."

3 out of 5 eggsThe USB device *must* support PS/2 for this to work

Pros: This works *if* you use it as advertised: as a *replacement* adapter for a keyboard that support *both* USB and PS/2 connections. It won't magically convert a USB-only keyboard to support a PS/2 port. This is a REPLACEMENT adapter.

Cons: This makes the connection stick out quite a ways out behind the computer case: from PS/2 port, adapter length, and length of connector end of keyboard cable and cable bend. Twould be nice if they made one with a shorty cable between the female USB connector and the PS/2 male connector. Pushing your case towards the wall could be you damage the PS/2 port on your mobo as the adapter gets smacked against the wall.

Other Thoughts: USB-only keyboards won't work with this adapter. They weren't designed to support PS/2. This is a REPLACEMENT adapter if you lose the one that comes with a USB+PS/2 keyboard.

If you lose the USB-to-PS/2 adapter that came with your USB+PS/2 keyboard (you went with USB, stowed the adapter, and later decide to go back to PS/2) then this works. If you have a USB-only keyboard, this is just a passive rewiring adapter and won't convert your keyboard to support PS/2.

2 out of 5 eggsKEYBOARD adapter?

Pros: It works well with the Microsoft optical mouse that came bundled with the keyboard below.

Cons: Does not work with Microsoft model 600 keyboard, either through a Startech "Starview" KVM _or_ plugged into the normal keyboard port. Unfortunately, a keyboard adapter was what I needed. Fortunately, I had a PS/2 keyboard on hand.

Other Thoughts: Startech needs to change the color and the designation, I am thinking.
