4 out of 5 eggsGood price, fast delivery

Pros: Great price for an APU.
Built in video saves having to buy extra card. My old card was AGP so I saved a lot there since I already have pcie vid cards.
Inexpensive but snappy

Cons: Temperature core readings are faulty no matter what temp monitor I use.
May ot may not be running hot. Who knows?
The AMD Radeon HD 7540D is not that great but it works OK for non gaming or web browsing and videos. Will not play BF2142.
Why 4 stars?
I got this specifically to install my free Windows XP as stated that a Trinity APU was required. XP refused to install, NOTHING BUT BSOD's, but Win 7 went right in. I also tried to install and run Live Linux CD and both were fails. So I wasted money there when I should have gone the non APU route, even Intel like an old erP4 E6800 duel core 3.3 ghz, same cost, much faster and reliable.

Other Thoughts: I later replaced later this 5400 2 core with a 5800 4 core (also will not play BF2142 ec low setting) and did not notice that much performance increase.

I put this on a new GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) 8 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
with a 4 gb 1066 memory. All three for around 150$ and delivered to my door for free in TWO DAYS!! . Not a bad upgrade for a 10 year old desktop.
I put a Geforce 8600 GTS video card and graphics are much better now.

It is disappointing that AMD can not provide any reliable way to monitor the true CPU temps. They use software to calculate temps and nothing to do with reality.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't expect miracles or silence

Pros: This card is a cheap APU that gets the job done. Perfect for an HTPC build which won't be using lots of threads or straining the processing power. the price is right.

Cons: You should be aware of its limitations. This is an inexpensive APU and it shows. Highly threaded or processing intensive tasks will not go well.

Under load, expect a lot of fan noise or fan whine. I ended up installing a custom heatsink because the fan that ships with this is too noisy when watching movies. This may vary from unit to unit.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat processor, lousy fan

Pros: Relatively fast, the built-in GPU works very well.

Heat sink come with thermal compound already applied,

Cons: My fan has an annoying high-pitched whistle even at low speeds. Will be replacing it with a better one.

Other Thoughts: Used with an ASUS A68HM-K FM2+ motherboard, had no issues. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the fan, but your mileage may also vary on that.

5 out of 5 eggsSmall Office Use CPU

Pros: It's a small CPU that can handle basic tasks and applications like Microsoft Office 2013. This AMD Dual-Core CPU is better than my office's Intel 2 Core Duo E8500, which was 7 years-old.

Cons: N/A

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Linux

Pros: Works great for my linux workstations. Power consumption isn't bad. Has enough power to work comfortably on, and have music streaming in the background. The graphics are powerful enough to support multiple monitors easily at very high definition (1900x1600).

Cons: Its an older, mid-range CPU. Don't expect fireworks and parades.

Other Thoughts: For the price, its a great bargain. I use it as a development machine, so I don't really need massive power here. Just enough to power through compiling my code, and still keep the tunes on in the background.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad at all

Pros: Low Power APU perfect for an HTPC Build, runs XBMC and various other programs on windows 7 flawlessly. I was surprised to find i was even able to play a number of games on it when my main rig was down (granted, i did transfer over my video card at the time.)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you're building an HTPC or workstation and don't intend to play games, this has plenty of power to get the job done without breaking the bank. I Bought it about two years ago, absolutely worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD A6-5400K CPU

Pros: An inexpensive component for simple computer build.
Linux and Ubuntu have fixed conflicts with graphics that caused random crashes. Asus A78M-E motherboard seems like a good combination as long as you run Linux or Unix.

Cons: Windows 10 preview does not work with this chip. They have not fixed compatibility issues with internal graphics and drivers. Unusable due to random crashes within minutes of turning on the computer or instantly when running simple games. Microsoft seems to be ignoring feedback from Preview users. Have not tested other Windows versions.
Took several months for Linux/Unix to fix incompatibilities. Seems like a bizarre disconnect between AMD and software. Who would release a product that did not work with major operating systems? Where was quality control?

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great inexpensive apu, running linux mint with an ssd and the computer is very fast, able to run a win7 virtual machine with no problem.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm using a 27" hd monitor and this cpu seems to be causing some flickering at 2560x1440 resolution. I think that can be expected and am not entirely sure the cpu/gpu is the problem. I put a system together for $250, that includes an ssd, a mobo with usb 3.0 and sata III, and 8 gb ram.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For Building

Pros: Great performance for your buck. Great for budget builds. Thermal paste ready to go on the cpu just lock her down.

Cons: Nothing to complain about so far. Should have bought more than one on sale.
