5 out of 5 eggsSmall Office Use CPU

Pros: It's a small CPU that can handle basic tasks and applications like Microsoft Office 2013. This AMD Dual-Core CPU is better than my office's Intel 2 Core Duo E8500, which was 7 years-old.

Cons: N/A

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Linux

Pros: Works great for my linux workstations. Power consumption isn't bad. Has enough power to work comfortably on, and have music streaming in the background. The graphics are powerful enough to support multiple monitors easily at very high definition (1900x1600).

Cons: Its an older, mid-range CPU. Don't expect fireworks and parades.

Other Thoughts: For the price, its a great bargain. I use it as a development machine, so I don't really need massive power here. Just enough to power through compiling my code, and still keep the tunes on in the background.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad at all

Pros: Low Power APU perfect for an HTPC Build, runs XBMC and various other programs on windows 7 flawlessly. I was surprised to find i was even able to play a number of games on it when my main rig was down (granted, i did transfer over my video card at the time.)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you're building an HTPC or workstation and don't intend to play games, this has plenty of power to get the job done without breaking the bank. I Bought it about two years ago, absolutely worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD A6-5400K CPU

Pros: An inexpensive component for simple computer build.
Linux and Ubuntu have fixed conflicts with graphics that caused random crashes. Asus A78M-E motherboard seems like a good combination as long as you run Linux or Unix.

Cons: Windows 10 preview does not work with this chip. They have not fixed compatibility issues with internal graphics and drivers. Unusable due to random crashes within minutes of turning on the computer or instantly when running simple games. Microsoft seems to be ignoring feedback from Preview users. Have not tested other Windows versions.
Took several months for Linux/Unix to fix incompatibilities. Seems like a bizarre disconnect between AMD and software. Who would release a product that did not work with major operating systems? Where was quality control?

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great inexpensive apu, running linux mint with an ssd and the computer is very fast, able to run a win7 virtual machine with no problem.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm using a 27" hd monitor and this cpu seems to be causing some flickering at 2560x1440 resolution. I think that can be expected and am not entirely sure the cpu/gpu is the problem. I put a system together for $250, that includes an ssd, a mobo with usb 3.0 and sata III, and 8 gb ram.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat For Building

Pros: Great performance for your buck. Great for budget builds. Thermal paste ready to go on the cpu just lock her down.

Cons: Nothing to complain about so far. Should have bought more than one on sale.

3 out of 5 eggsNice CPU....

Pros: This little chip is a great little starter chip. I built this computer for a friend's kid's birthday and feel it is great for his level of gaming and should allow for a little more in the near future.

Cons: Nothing except that I did not have a good RMA experience with this. Wasn't sure if the motherboard I got or the CPU was DOA so I sent them both back. Got told a pin was bent (which I did not do) and it was shipped back to me. Couldn't get any response from customer service to try and help me with this. Fortunately when I got it back, I was able to carefully bend the 'pin in question' back into place and seat the CPU (once again) and it worked. Was able to save the money this time, but not sure about the next.

Other Thoughts: be careful when getting items, I don't like the fact that I had to cover shipping cost of the RMA to have something that should have worked in the first place, not work. No compensation was given even though I had a legitimate claim.

3 out of 5 eggsJust Adequate

Pros: This CPU was included with a DIY kit that I purchased from Newegg last month; the kit also had a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ and 8-GB HyperX Fury Black Series.
The price is the plus part - - - - But performance wise; I don't think so!

Cons: With that said; I expected better performance than I am currently experiencing; either this chip stinks - - - - - or there is something seriously wrong with my DIY kit.
Video performance is lackluster as far as I’m concerned, and desktop office performance is just adequate to do basic tasks.

Other Thoughts: I probably won't be using this Processor again; just not enough horsepower for me...

5 out of 5 eggsHTPC build

Pros: Used this in a HTPC build with an MSI motherboard, 8 GB of G.Skill memobry, and a Samsung SSD. Works like a charm. No lag when watching blu-ray movies or anything streamed online.

Cons: Really none. It serves it's purpose well and fulfills the need for a descent affordable processor.
