4 out of 5 eggsgreat processor

Pros: This thing stomps my old and 6 core and just keeps trucking. very please with it.

Cons: The stock heat sink/fan is complete garbage I could not get my temps down with it no matter what, 40-50 idle and 80-90/gaming. had to buy a new cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsC2Q to i5

Pros: Quicker (not faster, more nimble I think)
Cooler
Good price/performance
Cheesy decals still included (for the campy among us)

Cons: Price was good, but this stuff is still expensive
Useless OEM fan, could have saved $15, maybe

Other Thoughts: I had a Core 2 Quad Q9450 LGA 775 for my modeling/development rig (plus some odd gaming). My ASUS mobo finally lost the south bridge so an update became necessary. My render load/times aren't up much, but programs start faster, although for financial reasons the new rig only has 8GB RAM (4GB less than the 775, upgrade pending). Still, the i5 switches tasks faster, and the thermal output is WAY down from the C2Q. Overall very happy.

Will update when I get more RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsWhoo fast

Pros: Fast, lots of Cache, low power consumption

Cons: Runs a little warm for my liking

Other Thoughts: This CPU replaced a C2Q running at 3 ghz. Clock for clock, the i5 does a LOT more per clock cycle than the C2Q could. With this CPU, I can run Flight Simulator X at absolute max settings, and it gives decent frame rates. I had to turn stuff down on the C2Q, because it didn't have the processing power to keep up. Video card was retained, Geforce TI550.

I am using the stock cooler. With the CPU cooler at max speed, I get decent temperatures, but using the automatic setting results in a silent, but hotter, system. While playing CPU intensive games, I have seen temps around 70C. Not gonna burn the house down, but it's a little hotter than I would prefer. I suspect that the heatspreader either has insufficient thermal compound between it and the core, there is a small gap, or the thermal compound is just fail. I tweaked my BIOS to keep my temps at or below 62c while heavily gaming, and I can live with that for now. In the future, I may attempt to remove the heatspreader and apply quality thermal compound to the core/hs contact area.

I have no comments on the on-chip Video, I have a discreet card so I disabled the onboard on first boot.

5 out of 5 eggsVery fast CPU, Intel makes good CPUs

Pros: Outstanding performance, I've always expected that from Intel CPUs.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I think this CPU was worth it for my needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: I recently purchased this processor to put in a gaming build. It was $20 off at the time which put it in the same price range as some of the i3s and AMD FX83xxs, so I couldn't pass it up. The install process was very easy. I had no issues whatsoever. Now, for performance. This i5 has zero problems in games. It's currently paired with an AMD R9 280 video card, and this combo will destroy almost any game I throw at it. Every single game I've thrown at it can be run on Ultra with all settings maxed at 1680x1050 resolution running 60fps or more. I've tested Battlefield 4, Crysis 1 and 2, Tomb Raider, Witcher 2, Metro Last Light, and many others. I've even ran dual monitors and played a game on one screen while watching a youtube video and installing a game on another. This i5 is extremely powerful, which is crazy considering it's a lower end i5. I considered going with an AMD 8 core cpu, but with 4 stronger cores Intel really shines in games. This isn't the best gaming cpu out there, no question. The thing is, why spend $80-100 more for a 4570K when the 4440 does just fine? You may not be the coolest gamer on the block, but who cares. Get this cpu and spend the extra $100 on a graphics card if you really want good gaming performance. You can't slow this thing down. I've multitasked the heck out of this cpu, and it just keeps on going. This is lightyears ahead of my old Athlon 64 X2 dual core. Very satisfied with this purchase. I can recommend this product 100%. As someone who has stayed strong with AMD over the years, I think Intel has finally converted me, for now.

Cons: I got this on promo. At regular price the cpu is not as great of a deal as the AMD 8 cores that were on sale for insanely low prices on Memorial Day weekend. The FX 8320 was going for like $130. That's a steal. With Intel you're gonna pay more. The quality of product mostly makes up for the increased price, however. Also, I dislike the fact that Intel restricts some of the features on their cpus such as over clocking. It's cheap marketing tactics.

Pros: integrated intel HD4600 graphics , only use 84W , and faster than AMD equivalent quad core cpu.

Cons: not a (unlocked) K version but its already fast at default speed (3.1Ghz)
