5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Pros: it's fast and excellent for games especially for those who don't care for the overclocking like me it still cold in idle 40 degrees and in games about 50 or 55

Cons: nothing can say for Intel products

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: + Great performance for a good price
+ Runs pretty cool, good power consumption
+ The stock cooling is impressive for what it is. The fan runs VERY quiet - completely noiseless on idle, barely audible even on high load.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitating between this, an i5, and the 4790K. Ended up going middle-of-the-road and I have no regrets. My system runs visibly faster compared to a friend who is using exactly the same everything else and an i5, and exactly as fast as another friend using the 4790K without overclocking. Perfect performance/price ratio with this one. And I have to once again stress the quality of the stock cooling - gone are the days when Intel stock coolers barely kept the temperature in check and were as noisy as a jet engine. This one is barely audible and even then I've yet to see the core temperature go above 40C (it's at 29C on idle!).

3 out of 5 eggsreally good cpu

Pros: eats up everything i throw at it. beamng drive runs flawlessly. and i have yet to have problems with any other game. (currently paired with a 970)

Cons: it runs really hot. 90 degrees at load and 48 degrees at idle. it is paired with a corsair h50 liquid cooling system that is working properly. i was told that is hot but i don't really know. the stock cooler is even worse. there is no overclock.

Other Thoughts: the stock cooler is pretty cheap but works fine. i would really like to see ddr4 support in the future for 1150 sockets

5 out of 5 eggsInsane

Pros: INSANE!!!!!!!!! lets's leave it at that!!!

Cons: nothing!

Other Thoughts: I think I may have had this cpu at 100% less times than I have fingers. It's incredibly powerful. Like any high class cpu though, I recommend a good cooler... I used to play CoD with it with the stock fan and it'd push 150 degrees F. I got a cooler master "brick" to stick on it and now it barely goes over 110 while gaming. typically it runs about 3-5 over the room temp. :) I keep my room pretty consistent with the temp via air conditioning and it rarely goes over 15 degrees higher than the room temp with this cooler.. I guess this is a cooler/cpu review. Sorry. I recommend the big cooler master heatsinks for this chip because it WILL get SUPER hot otherwise. It's not a chip for you're boring budget facebook computer. it's a beastly little thing! I've had 0 lag on anything. I use windows 10 with a SSD drive, 16gb of memory, it starts up in around 5 seconds with this thing. Of course half that is the SSD, but there is a lot of processing involved as well. This chip is great in every way I can say.

5 out of 5 eggsLenovo p300 processor upgrade

Pros: Had a lenovo p300 workstation with intel I core 3; upgraded to quad core 7. Working very nice. Part was listed in the complete replacement parts list for Lenovo, but hard to fine. Changed out the processor in about 10 minutes. working great. new fan also comes with the processor it has the thermal past already applied.

Cons: none noticed

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: It's an Intel, it's fast, and it runs cool. What's not to like. If you bought this chip you probably already know what you are doing so no need to bore folks with details. Will run games effortlessly for years to come I am sure.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Amazing as usual from Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor and Performance

Pros: Picked one up for 249 locally and this processor is a beast. The only con is stock cooling is inadequate if you truly utilize the power of this chip. I might add that most applications have a hard time stressing this chip at all however for CPU intensive apps it will get hot. I am using an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Revision 2 with Arctic Silver thermal paste. With this tower cooler running an Intel Burn in test which the CPU up can reach upwards of 75C, Stock cooler is 20 degrees hotter which will cause throttling. The Intel burn in test will get the CPU hotter then a prime95 burn in so I like to use that to torture test my chips. I'm still giving 5 stars due to the power and performance of the chip. Turbo up to 4GHz gives you enough performance to tackle the most demanding applications and this chip should remain a contender for years. Boot time to Windows 7 with a Samsung Pro SSD is about 4 seconds to usable desktop. Handles streaming of steam games very well to other lower powered systems in the house. Processor is really overkill, I was looking at the i5 4690K however with the price being only 50$ more I wanted 8 threads to handle everything I can throw at it.

Cons: Stock Cooler should be replaced if you use demanding applications.

Other Thoughts: All in All this is a great CPU for a reasonable amount, this particular chip offers a good value for the performance offered when you get it on sale. If you want to upgrade an existing socket 1150 system this is a great way to give you tremendous multi threaded horsepower. If you are power hungry and want a little more horse power you can opt for the K version and overclock as needed however this chip truly is a beast and most will find that it offers tremendous performance.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Power Consumption

Pros: I coulda got an AMD for much cheaper with similar performance, BUT, I would have had to upgrade my power supply to a much larger unit.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: As it stands, I am running a gaming rig with an nVidia 980Ti video card, and it hums along just fine with a 500W power supply.

I could not have done this if I went with the less-expensive AMD processor and AMD Devil13 video card.

AMD needs to up its game and get down to the same trace size on its CPU's and GPU's as intel and nVidia. As they sit, the guzzle power like a toaster, and they lost my sales directly because of this.

I like the idea of having a monster computer with a big power supply, but, I prefer having an efficient computer that is faster and doesn't act like a space heater.

I'm kind of an AMD fan, but the real world set in eventually, and you have to go with what works. I'm rooting for you, AMD, but I'm choosing Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This thing is a beast! Bought it to replace my AMD CPU after it burned up, and I have been more than pleased with the performance.
I didn't buy the K edition since I have no intention to overclock.
I love this CPU and will not be needing an upgrade for several years.

Cons: Stock heat sink is garbage. Buy an after market one. (I purchased a Hyper 212 evo).

Apart from the heat sink no cons.

Other Thoughts: I used to use AMD products since the value was so much better, but this time I bit the bullet and spent extra, and the difference is night and day. I wish I would have switched to Intel sooner because i have never had a PC faster than this one now.
