Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

Unmatched performance for the value, these are the tenants that guided Cooler Master engineers when designing the Hyper 212 EVO. Patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) technology ensures that the heat pipes are free of barriers while drawing heat away from the processor. A PWM fan ensures that fan speed can be intelligently controlled to ensure that it only speeds up when more cooling is necessary.

HIGHLY EFFECTIVE COOLING
4 x Direct Contact heat pipes with patented CDC (Continuous Direct Contact) technology draw heat away from the CPU quickly
USER & SYSTEM CONTROL OF FAN(S)
A wide range PWM fan can be controlled by changing its settings through supported systems or software to suit your noise and performance needs.
UNIVERSAL MOUNTING SOLUTION
Supports the latest sockets from Intel and AMD.
QUICK SNAP FAN MOUNTING
Utilize the included brackets to quickly add or remove fans for upgrades, replacement, or maintenance.

5 out of 5 eggsBig improvement

Pros: Very good compared to the stock Intel i5-4690k cooler. Less than 52C under load vs. about 90C with the stock cooler.
Very quiet because the fan doesn't have to turn more than about 800 RPM even when stress testing with Prime 95.

Cons: Almost too big for my motherboard and RAM.

Other Thoughts: Installation isn't a breeze, but why would you expect it to be? It's a tower cooler, and it's really not that hard to install for what it is. Take your time and follow the directions, and you'll be fine.

I have an ASUS Z97-A and Corsair Vengance RAM. The fan on this cooler is just wide enough to touch the RAM heat spreaders when installed. The blades have clearance, but I wish the RAM and the fan weren't touching. This hasn't caused any problems as there's really not any pressure on it, just a little contact.

I'm using a Corsair 300R case, and this fits just fine with a bit of room to spare. A smaller case would be a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooling, looks amazing!

Pros: Massive heatsink and the best cooling I've seen on air
Ultra quiet
Outstanding price
Mounting is solid and much better than push pin

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: Keeps my Core i7 3770k frosty cold at 4.0Ghz. Mounting kit is solid. Not sure if the cooler master paste is any good I always use Arctic Silver 5. I want to use liquid cooling but I want a modular custom system so I can also liquid cool my GPU. So this is far better than the stock cooler for only 35 bucks until I build a full liquid cooling system. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazed

Pros: Got this to cool an i7-4790K after hearing they run hot. Idling it's 28C (~+7C from ambient) and at 100% load from prime 95 it peaked at 63C (~+42C). Granted, this is with an added fan (2 total).

My CPU is the coolest component in the case, can't complain.

Cons: The mounting seems a little unnecessarily complicated.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooler, shoddy fan

Pros: Great CPU cooler for the low price.

Cons: The fan it came with died after 1.5 years. I'm glad I had a spare 120mm fan to stick on it.

5 out of 5 eggsBest heatsink so far

Pros: Amazing build quality, amazing temps, and amazingly quiet. The first time I put this in a system I. With a fx - 8320 at 90% load I reached a max temp of 36c - 39c. I was even able to turn off all of my case fans and play PayDay 2 max settings without high temps.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Amazing customer service, easy instructions.
I have been putting these heat sinks on almost every build I do. I compared the phantek PH-TC14PE with this cpu and only found a 1c difference at stock settings. And overclocked I found a 4-5 c difference. I would buy this heat sink over the phantek because of space and price point.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeps the CPU cool for general use/gaming

Pros: -Keeps CPU below 80 celsius while gaming

Cons: -Doesn't keep CPU below 80 celsius on anything that demands 100% load

Other Thoughts: i5-4690k@4.3GHz

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Amazing for AMD heat (Drunk review)

Pros: After the week I have owned this. I noticed a MASSIVE difference in temperatures with my AMD cpu. Before this cooler my CPU would get so hot that my PC would just completely shutdown. Ever since this cooler I've been able to run anything without turning graphics to low to avoid shutdowns. Also I have been able to over clock and it runs steadily with any game. (CS-GO ranging to Archeage which mutilated my CPU)

Cons: I cannot shut my case

Other Thoughts: It's my own fault for not checking that it would fit in my tower. Upgrading soon.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty much required upgrade from stock

Pros: Keeps my i7-3770k from bluescreening under any amount of stress.

Cons: Will not support any overclocking with my processor. It's pretty much at its limit in room temperature air, CPU temps at 70ish C. Bad things start happening at 75C.

Other Thoughts: Without this, I wouldn't be able to max out my processor for any length of time. It's essential for any CPU-limited application I use.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty Fan

Pros: Good cooling. Universal.

Cons: The unit I received had damaged hidden fins under the fans.

After a week, the fan begun making a ticking sound constantly. The fan has a lot of play room back and forth. It's extremely annoying. To RMA it, you have to tear the whole system apart. Maybe pick up another fan.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello David R,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Hyper 212 EVO. Please contact us so that we can ship you a replacement fan.
