Works with Ubuntu 7.10
Pros: this card just works with Ubuntu 7.10. lspci and the results are comforting. Tried the USB (iPod) and Firewire (video capture), both work. I am doing the marketing job for them.
Cons: none.

Works Great
Pros: Does exactly what it promises. The USB 2.0 works and the firewire. Did not install any drivers from the disk, just let Windows do it.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: The card works fine on Windows XP sp2.

This little oufit works perfectly on my XP Machine
Pros: No real complaints, Wanted to upgrade to USB 2.0 for my Ipod Nano. This baby is the ticket when combined with the " USB 2.0 + IEEE 1394 Firwire, Combo Bay Hub" installed in my 3.5" empty drive slot.
Cons: Notta !!
Other Thoughts: Works perfect. Good Job again Newegg.com Thanks

Hit or miss
Pros: No problem setting up in XP SP2, just plug it in and your done. Lots of ports for very short money. Does not require any additional power, gets it all from the PCI bus.
Cons: USB 2.0 absolutely would not work in one machine. The driver disk appears to have nothing to do with the card so it is utterly worthless. 4 stars because it works flawlessly in some machines and is dirt cheap.
Other Thoughts: I toiled for days to try to get USB 2.0 to work in a Dell C/Dock II docking station for my laptop (the dock can be opened up and and accepts 2 PCI cards). The drivers were all loaded fine (though I tried many replacements), but a USB device 2.0 would be identified and mounted, but then XP Pro would throw an error immediately after saying the device had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. Same story with AC-powered devices, flash drives, bus-powered, etc. None worked. The best I could do was to disable the Enhanced controller and then all devices worked as USB 1.1 devices. Firewire 1394a was no problem and worked fine right out of the box. Moved the card to an old Compaq Presario desktop running XP home and the card worked great for USB 2.0 and Firewire. Instead of trying another PCI card in my notebook's docking station, I bought a Combo Cardbus PC Card for the notebook itself and now I finally have USB 2.0 and Firewire working there too.

Here's the deal on the ports
Pros: Works. The one I got is the VIA chip, not the ALI. Saves a slot versus separate USB and Firewire cards.
Cons: Manual is utterly useless. Port sharing information is CRUCIAL. Not specifying this is dumb.
Other Thoughts: There's a lot of confusion regarding the ports on this card, so for your benefit I followed the circuit traces and mapped out which is what. For the record, there's the real story on the ports:
There are a total of four independent USB connections and three independent firewire connections.
The internal firewire port (label PORT1) is shared with the top outer firewire port (label PORT2). You CANNOT use both ports at the same time.
The third firewire port (label PORT3) is independent.
The two external USB ports (label UJ1 and UJ2) are independent.
The internal USB port (UJ3) is shared with the *bottom* set of USB headers. You CANNOT use these two USB connections at the same time.
The top set of USB headers is independent.
Someone earlier mentioned that the ALI chip doesn't support the full USB speed and unstable. I had the same problem with an ALI USB card but a motherboard chipset driver update and new drivers from Nvidia (they own ALI/ULI) fixed the problem.

Correction
Pros: n/a
Cons: n/a
Other Thoughts: I just wanted to clarify, the card says it has one internal USB port, and one USB header, NOT two internal ports. The reviewers below that are upset because it advertises two internal ports are incorrect. There's one int firewire, one int usb, one int usb HEADER (pins for you to connect to your case's own USB port, if it has one), and two of each external ports. The image shown is correct.

Works as specified
Pros: External USB ports on card are 2.0 and work as specified. Easy plug and play install on Windows 2000. Good card for the money.
Cons: None.

Does the Job
Pros: Plugged it in and it worked great. For some reason my onboard usb didn't work, but didnt have a problem with the card.
Cons: You have to break off the pins on the internal port to get the case usb to plug in.

Only 1 USB internal header
Pros: Internal USB header, low price.
Cons: Only 1 internal USB header; the card is no the one pictured.
Other Thoughts: There has been a lot of discussion about the ALI chipset not working very well and the VIA chipset working. I just got this card today with the VIA chipset. Unfortunately, I chose this card for the two internal USB headers and it only has one.
