Inexpensive way to get Perntium D support
Pros: I inadvertently purchased a Pentium D CPU without realizing that my current motherboard wouldn't support it. I went in search of the cheapest motherboard I could find that *would* do so, and this is what I ended up with. I'm happy -- I haven't had any problems with the board in 2+ months now.
This board has a lot of nice features -- more than I'd have guessed for the price. Hi-def audio, standard front panel audio header, 8 USB ports, etc.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If you want optical & coaxial SPDIF output, ASUS will sell you the required connector directly for some reasonable price (<$15, I believe). Nice policy compared to some vendors that really ream you on accessories!

works great
Pros: This board runs very good. The SATA is flawless and it works great for overclocking.
Cons: the integrated sound card was DOA but i don't really care.
Other Thoughts: The SATA does work when installing WinXP. You must press F6 with the Uli RAID disk in while installing WinXP for sata capabilities

Pros: If you are looking for a DDR mobo with int. graphics and nice features this is for you, if you can't find anything else
Cons: Myself and about 100 other people on the asus forum could not get the mobo to install winXP on a SATA harddrive. Tech support seems to have no good advice for us, I called them and they gave me advice I already knew.
Other Thoughts: I've built 15 computers from scratch and worked on many others, this one has been the worst and it's nothing fancy. (1 HDD, 1DVD drive, 1 512DDR) and it won't boot.
With all the choices out there pick something else.
All the components for all my computers have come from newegg, great site. (Now I wish they would take refunds on Mobos)

RAM BIOS problems
Pros: Small, clean format. Plenty of features.
Cons: Suffers from bizzare slowdowns when using the full 2gb of ram (with "certain" PCIe cards)!! Beware! This is most likely a BIOS problem, but Asus hasn't seemed too interested in fixing it.
Other Thoughts: The machine will run for an hour or so, then become bogged down and slow. This happens on despite os reinstalls, on different oses, and on different systems using these boards (we have two ourselves).

Motherobard is defective
Pros: Great layout. Price is good with ATI chipset.
Cons: SATA controller has a problem. It can't detect my SATA hard drive. I tried the hard drive with my friend's motherboard. It works fine. Try all SATA already, no luck.
Other Thoughts: I'm unlucky person this time. It's my first time to have a ASUS motherboard which has trouble.

Simple to install and fast
Pros: I am using this with an HTPC configuration and do not need a separate high-speed video card. This works great, I've had no issues with the video (which uses shared memory) and it had MCE compatible drivers. Put in a Pentium D in it and I love it.
Cons: None yet (crossed fingers)!
Other Thoughts: Very simple installation, including drivers. There's that moment after you put in a MB, memory, HD, etc. when you boot up and you fear that you will get nothing or a single blinking cursor... mine booted up with no problem.

Bad board, bad luck
Pros: Good price for all-in-one motherboard.
Cons: Never got the BIOS screen. Brought the motherboard to the local PC store for testing, the motherboard is cerfitied.
Other Thoughts: No choice. RMA.

Good motherboard
Pros: great montherboard for overclocking, has been running my celeron stable at 4.03 ghz for months, has every freature u would need.
Cons: when i first got this board it would not boot with two memory sticks, but after flashing the bios this issue was fixed
Other Thoughts: north bridge runs hot when over clocked, i would recommend providing extra cooling for it

excellent board
Pros: affordable, stable, runs cool, accepts pentium d and extreme edition, pci-e, raid, sata, very fast.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: even though this is a budget board, it is just as capable as any other board for games and the like. ran 3dmark06 on it with an x1600pro and pentium d 3.2ghz installed and got over 2400. visiting tech websites, their x1600s did not do any better on MUCH more expensive boards. even if you are a moderate to semi-hardcore gamer, you cannot go wrong with this board.

Pros: very affordable, fast enough for me, pci express, sata/raid. easy to install and setup.
Cons: none really, but I do not use the raid that everyone else seems to be having problems with.
Other Thoughts: very good value for the money. stable and fast.

Hmm...
Pros: Seems relatively fast for a P4; easy installation and PCI-EXx16 capabilities; use of RAID w/out extra controller a plus
Cons: When I tried to install this the first week, the setup for Windows (for RAID 0 array) kept rebooting. I tried resetting the settings, flash-updating the BIOS, and changing the timings on the memory, but to no avail. I finally spent the money to get Corsair XMS 2GB 184-Pin sticks, and the computer now works. The manual doesn't give you very much info on this.
Other Thoughts: I was quite upset over this little issue, but you have to make sure your memory is compatible or you will have a lot of issues with the computer. Corsair memory is the way to go if you have the $$$.

Very Good Board
Pros: For the cost this board is the one you want. I used it for a computer for a local small business. It does all the stuff that they wanted and I had almost no problems with install and operations (see cons.) 4 SATA slots is sweet. onboard everything. very small, simple, and light.
Cons: NO BIGGIE BUT-->>>--The only flaw I could find in this board is that it doesn't have the drivers already on it for SATA drives. Go to ASUS and download the uli raid drivers. make disk and hit F6 when installing windows... tada. A very easy troubleshoot
Other Thoughts: A very good board for basic needs

Not top notch, but works
Pros: It's a simple option for a basic machine.
Cons: Does not do dual-channel memory, so you get single channel performance.
The integrated graphics is so slow as to be unusable for any 3D game I throw at it.

Pros: This board allowed me to move to PCI-E while using plain old DDR memory in my HTPC. Space bar/mouse button booting with wireless keyboard - MX3100.
Cons: The uli m1573 controller is a SATA/RAID combo. Current BIOS does not allow you to disable the RAID function without taking SATA with it. You must create SATA driver disc prior to windows install.
Other Thoughts: Used the ASUS forum to find solution to SATA/RAID issues. Very happy now - newegg rules!

Amazing Board!!!
Pros: REALLY easy to install, everything fits right in, you can customize your BIOS startup menu (that is just plain fun). Great compatibility with current software. I wanted to keep my old files (and XP) and not switch over to SATA drives, so this mobo worked PERFECTLY because it has 4 IDE and a Floppy drive input.
Cons: Doesn't come with Stand-Offs. If you connect the motherboard with what it comes with, it will touch the edge of your case and short out the first time you start it up. xx at cxxxxSA, but you need 6 and they come in packs of 4, so it's really x bucks. Also the BIOS are REALLY annoying. They are really confusing if you aren't used to working with BIOS. If you ARE used to working with BIOS, and it ISN'T your job, I reccommend being amish for a year or two.
Other Thoughts: This was the easiest part of my computer to build. I definitley reccomend this board along with an Intel Pentium D 805. Its 2.6 Dual Core, and will beat all AMDs for a while. My only problem with this board was that I attempted to transfer my XP to the new board from a five-year-old Sony computer. Bad Idea. The XP freaked because it doesn't have the same Chipset, so I had to just reinstall a clean version of windows. (Which, ladies and gentlemen, is why I have TWO hard drives.)

Good Board
Pros: PCI-E, easy overclocking, sata 1.5, presler 930 support out of the box (no bios flash). X200 is nice, ASUS is quality.
Cons: Not owning floppy drives/disks, I had to slipstream the ULI M1573 drivers to get XP to install directly onto a RAID. Otherwise, very smooth install.
Other Thoughts: Great budget board.

BIOS doesn't assign WD 74 HD
Pros: Has PCI Express and uses 400 Mgz. RAM.
Cons: As others have written, the BIOS does not assign some SATA (WD 74 gig). The HD is recognized in the BIOS, but is not useable. Cannot load OS on certain HD's. Will try and RMA back to Neggegg. We'll see if they allow me to return for refund.
Other Thoughts: Pentium 805 D Smithfield WD 75 Raptor Evga 7800GT Sony Dvd Pioneer Dvd Rw (NOT THIS BOARD. Bought an Intel board and it recognized my WD SATA HD and loaded up instantly.)

This board ROCKS!
Pros: This board beat my expectations on every level! The onboard raid it easy to use and all the other features (nic, video and sound) worked first time without any problems. The onboard video can't be beat (although if you’re a gamer, you will need to upgrade to get your games to play at max settings). Win 2k server setup in 20 min!
Would buy again without hesitation
Cons: There are reviews that list needing a boot disk for the raid as a con, but that hardly seems fair as this is true for all raid controllers and once you have the disk the array will save you time in the windows install, it’s really fast! :)
Other Thoughts: I didn't know this till after I bought it but the factory drivers include software to power a TV and a monitor at the same time! You will need an adaptor but this is still a cheap high quality option for a "media center" type machine. That having been said I haven’t seen this on the windows media center hardware list so you may want to check into that if that’s the version of windows you want to use.

Pros: its asus, has 3 year warranty, pci-E, good for ultra ata hard drives but not sata
Cons: This motherbord is a pain. the drivers arnt the greatist. it is stupid the way u have to install the drivers for the sata and i am asuming it would be confusing for most people it even took me a whial to get it working and reading my sata hard drive.
Other Thoughts: the onbord video could be better but w/e i am geting a graphics card anyways. i think most people would be better off spending a few more $$$ and geting a diferent bord. i was building this computer for myself but i think i will be selling it because of this board i was expecting better and i am just not feeling this motherboard and i think i will be try'n somthing different.

Good MOBO
Pros: Excelent mobo for an average user. Has both PATA and SATA connectors. Integrated video up to 128MB shared. Set up was a breeze. Price is good
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: Pentium D 805, 1GB RAM, LianLi Case, 160GB SATA HDD for UNDER $500

nice
Pros: Operates as expected. Comes with 2 SATA cables (a small thing, but not found in many budget motherboards).
Cons: Qfan (the chipset fan speed controller) has a very low polling interval, so it is constantly "revving" a few hundred rpms during high load, as it works to keep the temperature. PC Probe application included has an option for a Qfan target temperature, but it is grayed out and I assume it's not a supported feature on this MB?
Manual is terrible when describing many of the bios settings. I'm not savvy enough to know exactly what everything does, so I had to do some research on it.
Other Thoughts: No problems, except the Q-fan. Works. I dislike the ASUS bios setup, but whatever.
Overclocking is a breeze. I use a Celery 2.8 (336) and it goes to 3.6 without a hitch. Maxing it at 3.78 caused some problems with memory, but it's value corsair, and not unexpected.

Disappointing
Pros: Aside from needing a floppy drive to install the SATA drivers it's not a difficult setup for the default.
Cons: Defective. I think it's burning out memory SIMMs, even with no overclocking. I ordered Corsair memory and ran the setup in "Auto" (didn't notice any voltage options) and after a couple of days i got so many memory errors it couldn't even boot. Replace memory, repeat. Then I tried dropping in some PC2700 memory I happened to have and it worked for a longer time, but with memory throughput of of a paltry 922 MB/sec. This is not a fast mobo and it seems there are a large number of defective units. The memory I ordered was not in their "tested" list but they did test same brand same type with a larger size.

Good Mobo
Pros: Easy boot time configuration of raid. A breeze to install/configure. Support software on the cd tells you whats going on with the board. Windows based bios update program.
Cons: You need a floppy drive or a USB floppy so you can load the SATA/RAID drivers when you install Windows.
Other Thoughts: Decent board but if you wan't a mobo with a minimum of configuration you might want to look elsewhere (Maybe an intel). And the floppy thing is just annoying!

So far so good.
Pros: Wasnt DOA. 2 IDE channels (kinda rare in microatx). Above average layout. Good price.
Cons: Only 2 Dimm slots. RAM is snug with heatspreaders.
Other Thoughts: Originally got Asus P5GD1 but returned it when it gave me fits. Running a pentium 4-660 and 2gb corsair xms as a firewall module in a warm telco closet. So far so good, no crashes or issues. Running latest BIOS. I have most onboard stuff off (audio, nic, usb, parallel etc..) so i cant comment and their quality. Built my fair share of pc's and some times u just get a bum component, but ive had good luck with asus and this board so far.

2nd time around
Pros: Best bang for the buck
Cons: None..
Other Thoughts: Follow up with my previous post...my second board just came in for my co-worker's build, installed and powerup up the first time w/o any problems. Since I just installed the same board for myself a month ago, it was a snap. Ordering another in the next month for another co-worker.

Dual Channel Support - No
Pros: Great reliable motherboard. Raid, PCI express and more. Newegg is always reliable about getting my products on time.
Cons: Does not support dual channel memory. In the extra insert of the manual, it reads "single channel ddr manual. Also I used the program Everest which shows the Bus Width to be 64-bit not 128-bit
Other Thoughts: Needs to change dual channel support to "no"

2nd and not the last Asus for me.
Pros: *Easy to install if you know what your doing. *All the new features, SATA RAID&Full PCI express. *No problems so far *A lot of punch for a M-ATX
Cons: *I liked the previous version of the ASUS probe better *Unable to disable shared memory from video for now *Boot disk should of been included, how much does a floppy disk really cost?
Other Thoughts: Running ~P4 3.2GHZ@3.5GHZ ~80Gb single SATA deskstar ~6600GT ~512 generic ram ~Aquarius H20 system with Zalman water blocks
Being my 2nd 775 Asus board it was up to the company to come through a second time and they did. I'm able to play most games at decent settings and perform basic tasks with ease. SATA drives are worth the extra effort in my opinon to install, once you have the disk made just hit F6 during install, the RAID driver is installed and your good to go. This board is the way to go if you want to save your money, ording a second one for a friend tomorrow.

Hott!
Pros: Hi def audio (6 channel) Price Fast PCI-EX upgrade slot Good graphics for onboard (Battlefield Vietnam)
Cons: P5RD1-V was better but isn't sold at Newegg anymore.
Other Thoughts: SATA works perfect for installing windows. Disc that comes with machine is bootable and will make a driver disk for you. No need for another computer like others claim.

Can ne1 Hear Me!!
Pros: Great board for the price, comes with sound and an ok video card. CD comes with all the drivers you need. Just need to update them but thats with every mobo.
Cons: The Sound card does not work! the Bios doesn't even see it! when installing drivers error "wrong hardware"? Don't see any help for this issue so going to send it back for RMA.
Other Thoughts: Running P4 2.66 prescot, half a gig of memory (corsair) and a ATA HDD no problems with settup (win xp) very easy to use if you know what your doing.

ASUS P5RD1-VM Motherboard
Pros: Another quality Asus board. I have purchased several of them before. Board works perfect! Installed this board with a Celeron 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, SAPPHIRE Radeon X550 100119L-HS video card, and a pair of Hitachi 160GB SATA hard drives for a RAID1 mirror. I created the driver floppy from the CD, hit F6 during the Windows XP install, and it runs good. SATA RAID works very well; Windows boots fast, I can run multiple applications that access the RAID1 mirror with little contention between them.
Cons: Creating the F6 floppy from the CD takes a while... no big deal.

Great value, needs SATA Driver disk
Pros: Great value, PCI x16 slot, fast performance, seems solid, built 4 so far.
Cons: Needs driver disk created when installing WinXP for SATA drives, otherwise not recognized. CD doesn't read in most Liteon drives used reliably, making even more difficult.
Other Thoughts: Utilities for updating BIOS never seem to work. Just getting the rom file off the net is about the only way to go.

Excellent price and feature packed.
Pros: For a budget or even mild performance user this is a great board. I've tried other Asus boards and they're pretty consistent (although some I've read have had compatibility issues).
I installed 1GB of ram with a 3.0Ghz P4 630 and it works really smooth. A lot better than my 1Ghz system. I'm still using IDE HDs but they're running pretty fast with this board. I totally skipped the on-board video and installed an x1600xt Sapphire card and have no problems at all, and hope it continues working well.
A lot of onboard features if you don't feel like spending extra $ on stuff like gigabit NIC and sound cards.
Cons: Limited memory slots but 2GB should suffice many into the near future.
Other Thoughts: I got this board and processor in anticipation of more x64-bit OSes and software coming out. This supports a lot of useful features and is pretty stable. Like I said before its definitely good for building a (relatively) powerful system for hundreds less. The manual says it supports Pentium D processors as well so if you have a little $ left over this should feed the hunger for speed.

good but not great
Pros: i got this board after first having a DOA on another board. it runs very fast. i like the way the bios it structured. it has 4 SATA connectors, which wokrs great for RAID.
Cons: don't count on the integrated video. at first it seems fine but it lags when playing Call Of Duty. only 2 memory slots, of course it tells you that but it makes it hard to upgrade ram to high levels
Other Thoughts: microATX is nice if u had a mid tower, but in general have a micro ATX board with a microATX case results in overheating.

Runs great even with basic 511 Pentium 4
Pros: SPEED! Onboard raid capabilities, ATI chipset. Onboard hard drive controller is very fast as well.
Cons: Just a micro-atx, which may not be a problem for many (not as many PCI slots, etc)
Other Thoughts: You need to create a driver disk if you want to install WinXP, etc. on a SATA drive. Windows setup won't see anything otherwise. Hard to do unless you have another running computer so you can throw in the CD... Excellent performance even with P4 511 chips (no HT, less cache)

Pros: Easy set up, did not need to hit the F6 button for 3rd party drivers like my other ASUS MoBo. You get a lot for the money. I have built several computers using ASUS MoBo and I have never had a problem.
Cons: only 2 memory slots, would like more but oh well.
Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these boards for work computers and have not had any troubles what so ever. One uses the onboard video and I can open inventor 10 files with no problems. MoBo usually runs around 28-30C.

Another excellent MB by ASUS
Pros: Great on-board features: SATA RAID, ATI Radeon 9600 GPU, LAN, 6-Chan. Hi Def audio, 8 USB 2.0, PCI Express x16 AND PCI Express x1, and more w/ low power consumption. I am running this MB w/ 2 80GB SATA in RAID and 1GB DDR RAM on a 300 watt PS. Runs great.
Cons: No IEEE 1394 Fire Wire though
Other Thoughts: I put this in an Antec ARIA micro case and had a little difficulty setting up my 2 Seagate SATA HD's in a RAID config. I had to temporarily add a floppy drive to the setup to use the Seagate tools I downloaded. (My Antec case did not have space for an internal floppy drive and the HD util looked for A: drive and nothing else). That was not an MB problem but just typical of the problems end users must resolve when building their own systems.

Defective
Pros: Learned my lesson to not buy ASUS anymore. Had 3+ boards with them, and never again.
Cons: Installed P4 2.66 EM64T chip, and the baord came with BIOS version 0401. Flashed BIOS to 0602, so the board would see the chip. Wouldn't work. ASUS sent 2 BIOS chips (1 blank and another updated). Nothing worked.
Other Thoughts: Returning board & buying an MXX. ASUS support is HORRIBLE. Continued to tell me they shipped out new BIOS chips, but never recieved them. Hardly ever got call backs. Waited 15+ mins to get a rep on the phone.

HORRIBLE
Pros: NONE
Cons: If you want to waste a tremendous amount of time getting the SATA connections to work outside of a RAID configuration, this is the board for you. You also have to search the drivers out in Explorer to load the sound\lan\video since ASUS has found it too large an inconvenience for them to appear when the CD autoruns.

This board is the WORST I have ever had!!!
Comments: Well what can I say; I have been building PC's now for some time and have had a host of hardware types. I followed the specs to the letter with this board, SATA hard drives, RAM, etc and NONE of it worked with this board. I have very long conversations with ASUS and all they could tell me at the end of it was you hardware is not compatible with this board. It was all listed in their manual as being tested and ok but did not work at all. In the end I sent this board back to Newegg and ordered a different one.

does not have dual channel ddr
Comments: This is NOT a review just a warning, the NewEgg listing says this board has dual channel support however the user manual does not confirm this. While the manual is a bit ambiguous if you look at other ASUS manual for other boards the dual channel support is very clear. The northbridge is a xpress 200 which ati says, "Variants available with single or dual channel system memory support" so be fair warned. If anyone has this board it would be nice if they could confirm this.

Dont use WD 800JD with this board
Comments: Dont Use Western Digital 800jd with this board .Asus has next to no suport for this board spent hours of wasted time trying to fix the problem with 3 of the same model drives. The board sees the drive but can't use it makes the system very slow windows will not see the drive . The raid function is missing in the bios so you cant disable it.I tried a diffrent type of WD sata Drive worked fine .
