buy if you want a mobo for 3 months
Pros: the mobo ran well for 3 months, no problems, no hiccups, very consistent.
Cons: usb ports all began to glitch and short out, was lucky if i had any usb ports at all. The video card in it (fx 5200) was good for the first two months which after began to fail and give me blue screens. Replacing the mobo as I write this. Avoid this mobo for it's purely trash, spend more money on something more reliable.
Other Thoughts: buy gigabyte or asus

Great board w/ a few driver issues
Pros: Not a bad board for the price has overclocking features in the Bios.
Cons: The sound driver hangs the computer even though the Windows XP Pro install was fresh.
Other Thoughts: Still haven't visited their web site to check for sound driver updates. So that may solve the problem.

Great Little Board
Pros: I needed a DDR board to re-build my son's P-4 (Prescott) . I added 2 gigs HyperX RAM, Samsung SATA DVD, WD 160 gig SATA HDD, Audigy Soundcard, 550 Antec PSU and it's handling it all beautifully, so far. Sure, it's no power house, but it sure breathed life back into this old system. On SATA, it can only handle 1.5(SATA I), instead of the normal 3.0 gigs per sec(SATA II), but I jumpered the HDD to run 1.5 and I can't complain.
Cons: None thus far.
Other Thoughts: I've read all the negative reviews on this board and it seems clear that 99% of them are user error, not the fault of the board. If I ever have to re-build another DDR, Intel machine (PRESCOTT) I will use this board again...if it's still around!!

It Worked
Pros: Worked, OC'ed p4 northwood 3.06 to 3.4 without much work, no heat issues. Replaced old P2-400/Intel SE440 mobo, it was about time.
Cons: Took way too much effort to get this board working. Had to change PS (didn't boot with first 300 watt PS but works with 250 watt unit), SCSI controler- LSI 21320 would give error message during XP install, Adaptec 29160 works, AC97 audio driver would not load, reinstalled XP and second time around driver loaded. Had 2 P4-3.06 chips, 1 Barton XP3200 and 1 Athlon 64 3000+ lying around, plus 1GB PC3200 ram, Nvidia Quadro 900XL, 2 73GB cheetah's 15Ks, 2 Fujitsu 147GB 10Ks, Hitachi 250GB SATA, WD 640GB SATA, 2-NEC, 1-Sony DVD-RW drives, two ATX cases w/ PS. With all the spare parts I had on hand it was a pain to get this MB to first boot then install XP.
Other Thoughts: Should have gone with the Athlon 64 3000+ update, latest generation of the 3 CPUs that I had on hand, more up to date and better compatibility.

Good Mother board for older systems
Pros: this board installed easy and gave no problem booting up. no hitches just leave it stock. I had to use a 2.4 ghz processor a 3.2 pinless does not work.
Cons: This board does not work with all intel D processors, i called and had a intell D 3.2 processor which bio sd would work with the board, it does not. the processor i have is pinless, i had to use a older 2.4 with pins on the bottom.
Other Thoughts: great board no problems

Not bad; good legacy mobo
Pros: Worked right out of the box; easy to set up. Good price and decent features for an older PC. If you're trying to keep an older PC going for a while longer, this is a good choice.
Cons: Only 2 Ram slots; if you're rebuilding an older PC and previously used 4 DDRs, take this into consideration. Internal USB ports (to connect to front USB ports) a little tight; if you use a double-width graphics card, it might be tough to connect.
Other Thoughts: Board is tiny. That's good for smaller PCs. I'm using a larger case, so some of my cabling is a little more stretched than I'd like.

Best board available here for my needs
Pros: Socket 478 and DDR boards are getting hard to find - this one suited my needs just fine. Assembly was easy (with a magnifying glass to read the board). Seems to perform well enough, though it's no speed - burner. The BIOS is a good version and seems rock solid and adaptable.
Cons: The manual was vague, necessitating reading the board with a magnifying glass and the resultant headache.
Other Thoughts: Wish 478 DDR boards were more available still - there are alot of perfectly fine Prescott chips still out in the world and DDR, too - but if wishin' was fishin'. I'd be watchin' a bobber dance right about now.

DOA
Pros: Looks very nice in the pictures.
Cons: Arrived DOA at the door. Power and fans come on, but that's about it. Won't POST or allow anything to boot from it. Tried all different combinations of memory, devices, etc to no avail.
Other Thoughts: You can't find any socket 478 motherboards, so I guess I'll just keep shipping it back to NewEgg until I get a good one. Plan on the extra shippping costs when looking at this board.

2 BAD BOARDS
Pros: Neweggs shipping and RMA Deptpartments.
Cons: This is the second board I have received. The first would not post at all, and this one posted but would not go any further.
Other Thoughts: Just for the record, I have used different CPUS and Memory from known working machines, and this is not just random. I guess this is just a bad batch, to bad because there are some people out there who still use the old socket 478 with a 8x AGP. I have finally advised this client to just go ahead and we are now building a completely new quad core. Shame to see some good things just die.

getting me by
Pros: Keeps my old computer running for cheap till I'm ready to do a full upgrade.
Cons: Minor complaint that USB headers are really close to PCI slots.
Other Thoughts: It's the only socket 478 board on the market with DDR and AGP. Basically the only choice when an old board dies. I'm not using the on board sound or video so I can not comment on those.

not recommended
Pros: it works when it works
Cons: I bought two of these - the first has been running for over a year. The second arrived doa so I had to rma it. The working unit I then received stopped powering up in less than a month, I dont recommend this board. If you're looking to salvage that 478 lying around with this, don't bother imo just move on and pick up a new cpu ...
Other Thoughts: overall I got one working unit out of three, if those odds are good enough for you then try it

Just want I need
Pros: A great motherboard for supporting legacy hardware and older computers.
Newegg and Biostar rock for keeping boards like this around.
Cons: The only con is the BIOS is a bit limited. I was not able to adjust the speed of the fans that are connected to the motherboard so I had to make sure the fans I used ran well at 12v because that seems to be what the motherboard keeps you at.

STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: it supports all thats needed for P4 HT CPU accompanied by DDR400 sticks and AGPx8 card.
Cons: This motherboard is VERY sensible to temperature. Considering the fact its supposed to work with P4 (producing a lot of heat) that makes it completely useless. All of my components work perfectly stable on ASUS mobo and can stay on for months... but on this mobo I got system freeze every few minutes. shame to sell something like this...
Other Thoughts: shame to sell something like this...

Pros: Works well to rebuild old Emachines with Celeron D. Combined it with a Sparkle Pwr Supply. Easy to hook up...runs like a champ so far.Runs between 28-31 C CPU. All the screws line up in my Emachines case (the only original part left). Get yourself some thermal compound and rebuild your old Celeron D Emachine or ??? into something that works for an economical price. Good deal. Buying another for my daughter's fried computer. Hard to find 478 socket motherboards...especially that use the "stock" 184 pin memory of older machines. Newegg has really fast service! Got here a day early! And I live 2000 miles away from the warehouse.
Cons: Floppy drive socket is a long stretch (down under the lower PCI slot). So buy yourself an extension for a couple of bucks.

great eMachine fix
Pros: Everything on one board: Video/Audio/LAN, 4 USB, serial & parallel ports!
Cons: It does not come with M&Ms.
Other Thoughts: I've used this board as a replacement for countless eMachines. If someone offers me a dead e, all I need to fix it is one of these.

Decent if you're looking to fix an old computer cheap
Pros: It turns on and works.
It's old-school technology. I just used it to fix a 4-year old Dell because I'm still saving up for a new computer, and I wanted to fix the Dell for as cheap as possible.
Cons: The CD device drivers that came with the motherboard didn't install the sound correctly. I had to download the drivers from the website (Had that same problem with an ECS motherboard for a customer).
The FDD connection is in a bad position. One of my PCI card's is choking the ribbon. I also needed an 18" cable to reach the Floppy.
The motherboard was supposed to come with the FDD ribbon and didn't.
Other Thoughts: Just need to hurry and find a part-time summer job so I can scrap this pile and replace it with an nVidia nForce 7-series computer rig.

Re- Evaluation: Still Working
Pros: System is still kicking. Runs 2 GB in Dual Channel Mode. Works good for fast simple business systems. Was running Pro Tools 6.4 and Sonar 5 Producer's Ed with a Digi 001 and also used the system as a workstation and a DVD copy center: Whole DVD copy in about 8 minutes.
Cons: Can't build an OSx86 into it... No Support for AppleVIAATA. FSB only goes up to 800 MHz (Asus boards that use this or similar chipset, go all the way up to 1033 MHz FSB).
I can't explain how there were a few guys that got stuck with a Dead Board: I know it happens, but one guy said the replacement was DOA too: One DOA I will accept but NOT two in a row of the same thing, that is TOO MUCH bad luck, and it sounds like "Operator Error" more than a bad MB - The guy was probably trying to pump this thing with the 175-Watt power supply out of a Hewlett-Packard Box.
Too many reviews by people who probably used a williamette CPU (when they say it dont work, then don't use the williamatte)
Other Thoughts: Pretty cheap 478 board, MSI, Foxconn, and Gigabyte all approach 100 bucks or more for socket 478.
The hardware companies really need to keep producing support for P4 seeing as how there are trillions of poor orphaned Prescott 3 GHz CPUs floating about.

Upsetting Motherboard
Pros: Looks nice, I guess. Newegg's excellent service is about the only pro for me right now.
Cons: Doesn't work. Mine is DoA. Called BIOSTAR Customer Support, didn't help much outside of what I already knew. Requesting RMA immediately. Seemed like it'd have all the features I'd want. Too bad for me.
Other Thoughts: Looks like a crapshoot when you try for these boards. As many others buying this board must know, finding a 478 socket AGP board is hard. This was pretty much my only option to buy for a replacement. I just hope my RMA goes well.. In the words of a friend, "I knew biostars weren't great but..."

It works
Pros: Hooked it up and all worked.
Cons: Haven't found any ....yet. Not a big fan of Biostar but I needed a new board with these specs.
Other Thoughts: It's funny....Iv'e been building PC's for a long time and have spent oodles with newegg and various other online stores and have never had to RMA a Motherboard, and only once did I RMA a stick of RAM due to DOA. Am I just lucky? Really makes me wonder. The only reason I gave it four stars is because overall....it's really not that good, feature wise, of a board. But it works.

nice board
Pros: Easy installation and setup. Compatible with all my hardware and window vista. I didn't even need to use the CD driver that came with the board.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: This kind of old board is almost disappear in the market. If you didn't think about to upgrade your old machine to Core 2, DDR3 and PCI express technology, you'd better buy one for possible future use (in case your old board failed)

Pros: If you are looking for a NEW 478 socket MB this is a great board for the money. I have purchased two of these boards over the last 6 months and have had no problems. Board performs well within all specifications and runs cool.
Cons: Installation documentation is very brief and may not be for the novice PC builder. The layout of the board is tight and has limited expansion slots. This is typical for a Micro ATX board. Onboard video is only 64mb but you can add a VGA card to workaround this if it is a problem.

Pros: 478 socket
Cons: DOA's I have purchased over 4 boards and 1 has made it. Tried these boards with other power supplies and Ram no luck New egg should take it off the shelves
Other Thoughts: If your are planning to repair someone's computer, don't use this board you will make your clients MAD

Not Idiot Proof
Pros: Great board, booted up right on the first start. Recognized all of the hardware attached except I had a bit of trouble getting it to install Windows XP. But that was my own fault, I forgot to check the BIOS to set the Boot Sequence to CD First.
Cons: Not very many cons for this board, price is reasonable, and Newegg always delivers the goods.
Other Thoughts: Ordered 11:59 A.M. Thursday. Received 2:05 P.M. Friday.

Lan port died after less than three months
Pros: It works ok with Linux.
Cons: It's a little picky about memory. I had to swap out a set for a different set from the same manufacturer (which then worked ok). The ethernet port just stopped working the other day. Luckily I had an extra PCI ethernet card to use. Pretty lame though. This is the second motherboard that I've had this happen to (the first one was an Albatron but that at least lasted for three years before giving up the ghost).
Other Thoughts: It's past 30 days so I can't return it. It's questionable whether it's worth trying to get a warranty replacement since the pci network card is working. I don't feel like taking it apart. It just sucks that it failed so soon after I got it. It's only been used for a few weeks (even though I bought it a couple of months ago).

frustrating
Pros: Supports Celeron D 315 (prescott) Supports Northwood P4 2.4 AGP support
Cons: Does not support Prescott P4 3.2 crapshoot Sata boot support Bizarre location for floppy header
Other Thoughts: Hangs on POST with P4 3.2 Prescott. It recognizes the CPU, but nothing else happens. No single beep code. Tried everything-no joy. After reading other reviews, I believe the problem is the Biostar mobo. Which is better? 2.23GHz Celeron Prescott 256KB & newer extensions and 533MHz bus or P4 Northwood with 512KB at 2.4GHz but only 400MHz bus?

skip this mb
Pros: cheap
Cons: usb ports only function as 1.1(supposed to be 2.0) onboard ethernet stopped working. onboard video problems too. had to add 3 pci cards to make a functional pc. ethernet, video and usb 2.0. cheaper to buy a better m/b that works!
Other Thoughts: i'm a network engineer by trade and spent many, many hours on this piece of junk. learn from my pain!

Pros: None since im so annoyed.
Cons: Remember the saying 3rd time is a charm. In my case 4 times is a charm.. I received 3 dead boards. Finally the 4th worked.. and you pay the shipping back.. Newegg is not the place to buy motherboards.
Other Thoughts: THink elsewere

Horrible
Pros: none
Cons: Horrible experience with biostar. Ordered two of these boards, first one was doa, second one had no video, bios was all messed up. dont waste your time with this board. customer support was horrible also.
Other Thoughts: Go for an asus or asrock. i replaced these with an asrock P4i65G. I have 2.0 ghz p4 northwood, 80 gb maxtor hdd, radeon x1650, and a cd drive, cdrw drive and a dvd drive.

Not for Vista
Pros: Only 478 400mhz board available.
Cons: No vista drivers from Biostar. Vista video driver from Via is hard to find, beta and did not work.
Other Thoughts: Ok if you want to rescue an old 478 processor and use XP.

Beware
Pros: AGP and Socket 478, Price
Cons: Got 3 of these and all three would freeze randomly. Tried multiple memory brands and speeds as well as multiple processors on all three. Got all the latest drivers also.
Other Thoughts: Bords worked very nice until they would freeze. Very random but all 3 would freeze more frequently with addon cards installed.

DOA
Pros: One of the only socket 478 boards still available.
Cons: DOA

Cons: It would not run my 5900XT graphics card, but it did run the 6800GT that I had in my stepson's computer. Sorry stepson...
Other Thoughts: Best motherboard around still supporting AGP graphics. I am betting that those people with problems do not have the correct processor.

Ehh
Pros: Hooked everything up from my older P4 PC (mobo went bad about 6 months ago on it and needed a replacement). Hooked right up, reformatted with XP and all was smooth.
Cons: The second DIMM slot was bad. Had 512MB of RAM installed and it only recognized 256MB. I swapped out 4 different sticks of identical DDR PC3200 RAM, all would work in the first slot, none in the second.
Other Thoughts: Comp ran fine and I was very satisfied, but running XP and trying to game on a 256MB stick of RAM didn't cut it. I am currently waiting for my RMA to return.

New motherboard for old processor
Pros: Loaded with options, overclocking options. SATA150 x 2 + PATA x 4. Printed manual. MSI has current driver set! And an automated installation that is really quite nice, and some utilities. Not sure installing the automatic update checker is worth it, since I doubt any new drivers will be made for this in the future, unless there is a Vista problem. I am running XP. Will handle 400Mhz FSB Northbridge processors.
Cons: no PCIe slots, 2Gb max ram in 2 x 1Gb configuration. $85 may not make sense, see other thoughts below:
Other Thoughts: Good for running an old proc, but you can get a barebones on special containing a better processor for about the same price. If you are replacing a bad old motherboard you might be better off buying a barebones instead, and transferring components to your new computer.

DOA
Pros: Nice for a cheap fix for an old machine. nothing fancy just the basics. did get 1st one DOA. All I can say is Newegg. need I say more I got a DOA and sent it back. No questions asked a new one was shipped out.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: It would be nice with DOA if new egg. would trust regular customers and just ship out a new one the day the old one ships out. would just be nice for my customers.

If you desperately need a socket 478 board, don't buy this one!
Pros: There aren't any Pros. This board sucks plain and simple. I needed a 478 board desperately so I bought it as my last option because people on bid sites overbid on outdated boards.
Cons: First off, this board doesn't say whether or not it works with northwood core (it does). Takes about 2 minutes to detect IDE Hard drives, no exagerrations. Remove Hard drive and it boots normally. I tried with two different, new, working hard drives - same results. I'm afraid this board may just conk out one day.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy it! It is BAD! Never going to buy BioStar again.

DOA
Pros: Good external I/O hookups, nice sized board.
Cons: Arrived DOA, popped it in and didn't even respond...time to RMA
Other Thoughts: I have a northwood pentium 4 2.0 ghz, 1 gb of ddr 400 ram, radeon x1650 512 mb, 80 gb maxtor HDD, and two CD/DVD drives, everything got power when i tested them, except for the motherboard.

Are Biostars hit or miss?
Pros: Purchased this board for a walk-in customer for our business. He was running a Sempron CPU and thought that I'd give this board a go because of the price.
Cons: Motherboard had faulty RAM slots. Tried a handful of different speeds of DDR and could not get the PC to run stable at all. RMA'd the board.
Other Thoughts: I hear good and bad things about Biostar motherboards. A few weeks after I purchased this board, I bought a Socket 754 board for a buddy of mine and it worked great.

Terrible
Pros: Nice price and good performance specs.
Cons: Just about everything on my unit didn't work. Onboard graphics would not work, neither one of my PCI sound cards (Turtle Beach Montego DDL, M-Audio Delta-66) would function without stuttering and locking up computer. Onboard sound AC-97 functioned only margionally better. Computer is next to useless.
Other Thoughts: I'm sending this thing back and won't buy another unit.

Good, inexpensive choice
Pros: Mainboard change over booted up first time and never looked back. Plenty of options in a fairly vanilla BIOS.
Cons: Only has 2 DIMM slots.
Other Thoughts: I used this along with a P4 2.4 from an earlier upgrade to replace a NF7/Atlon 2600, so this was an inexpensive option. I could only use 2 of the 3 DIMMS I had in the old mainboard to make up to 1Gig (1x512, 2x256). Used the two 256 to take advantage of the dual channel. I will need to hunt around my stash to see if I have another 512 stick somewhere. **Overall, was a good purchase to get an auxiliary machine back up and running**

Pros: The mobo works well and stable with using stock settings. Components are easy to install on the board and most items are easy to find. Well packaged.
Cons: * Not the best overclocking board. If you are going to use stock settings for everything, the board works perfect.
Other Thoughts: Not a very big board but when installed into a microATX case it still will be cramped. Make use of the SATA.

Think long and hard before you take a gamble on this one
Pros: Who knows?
Cons: Add me to the list of out of the box DOA recipients.

DOA. ouch.
Pros: Excellent and cheap replacement for socket 478 motherboards. Overclocking too?? Wow thank you Biostar for keeping our older P4 CPU chips and AGP cards alive! This puppy has a lot of good stuff – SATA RAID, onboard video and LAN definitely a plus.
Cons: DOA - put in my parts: Northwood P4 2.6, 512 MB Samsung DDR 433, AGP Card. when powered CPU fan spins, but no beep, nothing. Ouch. Open box so I wasn’t really surprised. Take my word for it; don’t buy open box stuff especially if it has a high DOA rate; don’t be cheap – spend a bit more in the beginning, it will be worth it in the long run (Newegg’s standard return policy is pretty nice) Shipping material was bad (brown paper bag as packing material??!) We are talking about shipping electronics here, not stuffed animals or clothes. Also make sure to read the reviews to see if your parts are compatible. Thanks for Newegg’s easy RMA; good customer service!
Other Thoughts: I spent about 150-200 dollars for one of the best known socket 478 motherboards about 5 years ago… and didn’t want to spend another 150-200 dollars on a USED one from auction sites (high risk factor considering most were out of the manufacturer’s 3 year warranty range). The price for the Biostar motherboard has increased about 25 dollars within a few months... Newegg must have realized this one’s a savior. Too bad I’m out my shipping and handling money… maybe I’ll take my chances buying a new one considering its high DOA rate; like another buyer was saying “either they work or they don’t”.

Worked for 21 Months
Pros: Nice bios, handles pretty much you want. One of the best boards you can still get with the Socket 478 / DDR 1 combo these days.
Cons: Died : (, but lasted 21 Months, which I think is close to average for most motherboards, considering I got it considerably less when I bought it.
Other Thoughts: Reliable for 21 months, I would buy it again, also my brother who knows almost nothing installed memory and a wireless PCI card himself, so...I'm not leaving the blame entirely on the board. Just ordered another one for a direct replacement.

Biostar Mobo
Pros: It works. Nice mobo for home computer and light gaming.
Cons: Onbord graphics are glichy. I had to get a diffrent driver other than what came with it because the computer would randomly lock up. Dosent mader though now because i got a nvidea graphics card to occupy the 8X AGP slot.
Other Thoughts: Fast and cheap shipping via neweggs 3 day ground with UPS. Im happy.

I like it
Pros: Very nice motherboard. Good price, has all the essentials allowing me to reuse parts from a Dell that got fried by lightning!
Cons: The on board auto pins for using front audio access on new Cool Master case are confusing.

Qwirky MOBO
Pros: Good basic 478 board. Allowed me to reuse some old components to make an ok video capture box. Good set of BIOS options.
Cons: Just spent two quality days finding out that a Hauppauge 250 TV card will only work in PCI slot 1. It was recognised by Win2K in the other slots but was not seen by the Win TV software until it was in slot 1. Not the case with other MOBOs I tried. No mention of this in manual, FAQs or elsewhere. PCI slots act as if they are a little loose, poor quality.
Other Thoughts: Although everything works well now, I'll stick with Intel, ASUS, and Gigabyte from now on.

For this price, I'll take it.
Pros: Can’t believe the price, and it actually works. When my socket 478 MB died, I thought I would just dumpster everything. Now, I saved it from the dumpster, and built a nice backup computer, for cheap, using all my old stuff - CPU, AGP8X, DDR, SATA, IDE and PS. I read all cons, but the board it really not that bad.
Easy way to update BIOS: Download the update file from the website to a floppy (not the flash utility, just the file, like 4M80M609.bf, which gets rid of that awful logo screen), then enter BIOS main menu and go to UPDATE BIOS. Select the update file name (on the floppy), then hit Enter.
Cons: Have a very annoying but manageable problem: I tried EVERYTHING, but no matter what I did, the system would always try to auto-boot from the ATA drive, but the OS is on the SATA drive, so I got black screen ERROR LOADING OS. Tech support response to emails was pretty good, but in the end he thought it was a problem with the board. Two workarounds: Hitting F9 at boot-up opens a boot menu to manually select which drive to boot – works good - even with two different OS – one on ATA and one on SATA. Other workaround is to move the OS to the ATA drive.
Other Thoughts: After buying “real” motherboards, I was disappointed that this only came with a backplate (you have to push out some of the metal tabs for the conectors), a SATA and PATA cable, and a skimpy manual (I found a lot more BIOS info on the CD). Only two memory stick slots – bummer since I was using 4 sticks at 256MB each. Not really a dig against the MB, but in my ATX case, one of the removable metal mounting studs was about 1/4 inch away from the hole in the Mobo. I just removed that mounting stud from the case so that it would not touch anything on the back of the MB. I have the annoying “removable drive” icon in the tray for my SATA. The headphone jack is the green one in the middle of the three jacks, but the manual shows the green one on the end.

emachines c2684 replacemen
Pros: Dropped right in. Replaced power supply too since it is suspected/speculated that Bestec power supplies were killing the emachines motherboards. Front panel audio connector does not match but who cares? If it works for a year or two it will be a tremendous bargain.
Cons: Price has kind of creeped up. I think this board used to be about $20 less.
Other Thoughts: Only 400mhz 478 board I could find. There must be millions of 478 and socket A processors going to the dump because no one can get boards for them.

Get this for your 478 CPU
Pros: Look no further, need I say more? With 400++ reviewers and 4stars average. Plus, just visit BioStar website and download their latest Bio's firmware. Most manufacturers of 478 board have already abandon any improvement, my old 478 board firmware was 2004 and the last released. Yet BioStar just released another new firmware update for this board. It clearly shows this manufacturer is serious in supporting their new and old products/customers.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Their support is best too in the U.S.A. They replied to my email and I don't have to wait long. The person I wrote to technical support was Andy, hope I don't get him into any trouble by reviewing his name here. They're good, I don't think you'll regret getting this board, if you are not looking for something specific or with special feature.

Dimension 3000 Replacement
Pros: As others have said, this is a drop in replacement for a dell dimension 3000 motherboard. Reactivate windows, install the drivers, and you are done.
Cons: I rate it a four because you WILL have to cut up the dell front panel (power button ect) wiring block and manually plug in the wires. The wires have the metal sockets that pit onto the motherboard attached to the end. Don't cut those off, use them!
I wrapped them wire terminals in electrical tape. Works great.

Works Fine
Pros: Stable, no weird problems to solve, simple to config, no heat probs with a P4 2Ghz Proc and 512MB PC3200 RAM.
Cons: Well, ok, not really a "con" but...the onboard video is not for 3D games, but it works fine for 2D games.
Other Thoughts: Buy a decent 3D card if you are planning on playing that type of game, otherwise onboard VGA works fine.

Excellent MB / w right CPU type
Pros: Replaces an ASUS P-4 board and exceeds it's performance! This was the easiest board I have ever set-up, it went flawlessly and runs smooth with just 1 Gig. of Dual Channel DDR Ram.
Cons: Really could use more Sim slots to add more ram in smaller configurations. Other than that I like this board better than any socket 478 board out now! Must have Prescott or Celeron CPU ONLY!!!
Other Thoughts: This board can bring new life to an old PC, but you MUST have a Prescott or Celeron CPU ONLY!!

great for the money
Pros: lots of extra space in my atx tower with this micro board everything swaped across from my d845ebt mobo just had to repin the power button connector now i can use the 3.0w/ht prescott it fired right up and ran no problem lots of usb connections. built in lan is a plus overclockable great board for the money
Cons: makes it a tight fit for the ram, ocz ddr400, to zalmen 96mm cpu cooler put ram in then cooler on way easer my friend. could use a few more pci slots but these 478 boards, that handle 800fsb, are hard to come by these days my radeon x850 takes up agp and one pci so that just leaves me with 2 pci slots and only 2 fan spots cpu and one case fan. no built in firewire bummer. manual is a big help its got more ram setting than i know what to do with so i just set it to turbo. ultra locks up on boot. oops my bad
Other Thoughts: cant complain it works great oc to 3.2, agp 8x sweet only had 4x before, 800fsb,ocz ddr400 still stable and running things faster than i have seen in a long time newegg shipped sameday and i got the next day. newegg rules

Pros: I've built several computers using different boards. This one is a lot easier to understand and set up than their past boards.

Good Mobo
Pros: So far, Mobo haven't gave me any problems. It's a good package for the price and maintaining P4 and AGP hardware which of course are becoming obselete.
Cons: Which Biostar had an ATX version model so I can add a few more PCI components. But what the heck, it's still a good save if no other mobo's available to run P4 CPU and AGP card.
Other Thoughts: As always, newegg's the bomb in excellent service and fast delivery

No Post, No Beep, DOA. After removing memory in the second DIMM, it booted up. I guess, this is just a ramdom luck. I sent it in for replacement though.
Pros: non
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: It would be a little better if the FDD connector wasn't at the bottom of the board

Excellent! Replaced stock Dell MoBo perfectly!
Pros: Board is nearly a drop-in replacement for the stock board in a Dell Dimension 3000. It adds SATA and AGP support to a machine that didn't come with those options and allows you to leverage your existing investment in CPU, RAM, HDD, etc.
Cons: None yet. Powered right up on the first try and never looked back.
Other Thoughts: Granted I've only owned this board for a few days, but as noted above it fits perfectly inside my Dimension 3000 case with the existing PSU. The only things I had to do were:
1. Rewire the front panel button/LED wires to match the Biostar header using some spare parts I had lying around,
2. Shave off a small bit of the original CPU fan connector so it would fit in the Biostar jack (diff't type, but also 3 pins)
3. Haven't bothered with the front audio jack (needs an adapter/rewiring), but front panel USB goes in perfectly.
Most of these issues relate to using this board with Dell components, but paying $54 allows me to use an AGP card and a huge SATA drive I had lying around and brings new life to this machine!

Pros: None Yet
Cons: DOA on arrival. No POST. No beep. No nothin. Tested with two different power supplys, two different CPUs, and two different sets of memory.
Other Thoughts: Getting RMA hope next one works.

Quite Satisifed
Pros: Works well all around with decent integrated features and a low profile. Ordered to upgrade wifes system to higher quality P4 and a whopping 5200 nvidia for her guild wars game. works quite well.
Cons: None really a little pricy for an older board but runs a 2.6hz p4 and fx 5200 card with soundblaster audigy 1gb ram just fine. Drivers were perfectly stable in xp pro sp2
Other Thoughts: I have a couple of other biostar boards that I've built for customers and my kids and have never had an issue. Many of these are still running on quite stable (albeit aging) P4 systems.

Kept an old system alive.
Pros: It's cheap. It is well laid out. Directions are good.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I'm glad there was a Biostar MOBO left for 478. I've had good results with them for Socket A, 939, and 478.

Nice :)
Pros: Wow, this was an easy install. I cut myself trying to get the back plate where the usb and ps/2 things are, but im fine with that. The motherboard is working well and only took about 1 hour to install (i had a bit of problems with my old IDE cables, had to use the ones probvided).
Cons: The picture of the motherboard is red... mine was green? kinda weird, thought i had the wrong product when i opened case, but i didnt luckily.
Other Thoughts: so far so good :)

BuyNoStar
Pros: Manual is written in Engrish, funny.
Cons: DOA, tried 3 different processors, onboard and agp video... nothing. Wouldn't post, no video. Wanted to go Asus again (had previous Asus mobo for 3 years before its untimely death.) but wanted a board with a 400 memory standard due to existing parts. Wish there were more than 12 478 mobos on Newegg. Bought this one somewhere else anyway, as Newegg was Out-o-stock.
Other Thoughts: Oh well, I'm a graphic designer, I don't need a computer anyway... right? Absolutely in no way blame Newegg, and will definately buy my replacement-replacement board from Newegg, love the shipping.

Great Board Combo
Pros: This Motherboard combo works perfectly for a "standard" (mid-range) home computer. I own and operate a computer repair shop. I have built about a dozen new computers using this board combo. Admittedly I decided on this mostly for price, but I have never been disappointed. I have never had any customer complaints and none have ever been returned to me for any type of failures. Every customer I have built a computer for using this board have been perfectly satisfied.
Cons: If using an SATA drive with this board, it will appear in the Taskbar Notification Area as a "Removable Device" (like an external USB drive or printer) I have tried everything to remove it from the notification area but have been unable to do so. Of course clicking on it and clicking "Remove Device" will not remove it or disable it (because it is your boot device). So it is really nothing more than an annoyance.
Other Thoughts: I can't believe anyone has had a complaint. I have purchased at least 12 of these over the past two years and have only had trouble with one, when the CPU fan retention bracket broke. (not to be considered a board failure) Beyond that they have performed flawlessly!!

Works just fine...
Pros: Did my homework. Bought the right processor. Bought the right motherboard. Smooth OS install. No quirks.
Cons: I don't get to write anything scathing or negative about the product. That's just no fun. :)

Excellent Product!!!
Pros: Has all the basic features you need, plus some. More compact than my previous board (a used ECS Elitegroup p4m800-M). Doesn't have an annoying hard-to-get-to release switch for the agp slot. Came with a cmos battery already in it.
Cons: No case screws came in the box.
Other Thoughts: Huge bang for your buck on this product here.

Send me Textureheaps's "Bad" Board
Pros: STILL is the easiest socket 478 MB. Send me textureheaps "Bad" Board... I bectha he was using a Willamette CPU
Cons: People who can't build systems... And who Blame Newegg or the MB for the incompatabilities.
Other Thoughts: I am hoping that Newegg will keep this CPU/MB combination in stock for another 6 months at least. I hope Biostar has more of these, I wil buy them all, they make great systems.
This is the third system I have made with these components... NEVER had any problem.

Great replacement MB for eMachine
Pros: It comes with all the standard I/O's required for a MB of such size and cost.
Cons: Manual is almost useless.
Other Thoughts: I bought this MB to replace a dead eMachine T3958 MB (the second one). It went in without a problem and it took the original eMachine processor and memory. It has enough points to connect front and back audio jacks. It worked flawlessly from the first boot and had no problem since. Highly recommended for repairs.

Pros: 1. Currently nominated for Newegg's Customer Choice Awards! (worth a laugh at least) 2. Out of stock. 3. Newegg's awesome customer service.
Those are the three best things about this MB.
Cons: Arrived DOA, would turn on the power supply, no attempt to boot or send any signal to the VGA port. Tested with parts that are now back in service with another brand board. Out of stock, most likely forever, so returned for refund.
Other Thoughts: Wouldn't have bothered to write this review but Newegg sent me 4 emails this afternoon telling me all about this item being nominated for the Customer Choice Awards (LOL). Very happy with the replacent MB (another brand) MB I got from newegg. Newegg was very quick in processing the RMA.

So far working good. A little iffy
Pros: This board was very easy to setup. I was able to get a very decent price for it.
Cons: Sometimes the mobo will not post, but after I shut it down for a few minutes and turn it back on, it works fine. This may attribute to the fact I bought it Open Box, or I may need to look at the manual a little more in detail, but other than that, It works great.
Other Thoughts: I honestly do not think that Biostar makes shotty motherboards from my experience. Maybe I just got lucky, but I have had no problems with Biostar.

Very Good Board
Pros: EASY to install. I put the Prescott 3.0E into it. Installed Kingston HyperX 400MHz Matched Pair, 1 GB. Set up Dual Channel automatically. That is what is good about this board, it is pretty good at detecting what you got plugged into it.
Cons: NO Vista Drivers for the S3 ProSavage onboard video. Driver disk has NO Vista drivers at all. Even though I do not use Vista, there OUGHT to be Vista drivers. Also: The same thing that is a pro... The Automatric Detection of components, becomes a con: Because there are no software settings for Hyper-Threading and Dual Channel configurations. But that is all, and I am not making an issue of it. There is not really anything BAD abut this board.
Other Thoughts: Regardless of the lack of BIOS settings for HT, Dual Channel and etc, one control that is available is the clock speed. I got the HyperX Ram running at 450 MHz. The CPU is running at 3250. It runs vista or XP No Problem, runs XP a little better.
I find that most of the negative reviews here, are probably due to the fact that they used the wrong components. It states, right in the manual: "DOES NOT SUPPORT WILLIAMATE CPU." - Thi9s is right on page 1, 5th item under Hardware/CPU. Therefore I have to assume that most of the dissapointments with this board are related to either a non-compatible CPU, Single Channel RAM not running up to speed, or maybe even trying to use RAM that is spec'd at over 400 MHz. Yah, that'll make it not work.

Nice little board
Pros: Is still running. That's a plus these days. Supports all of my HTPC gear. 40 GB IDE, 300 GB SATA, AIW 9800 Pro, 1 GB DDR, 802.11 GS, etc.
Cons: It's not a high performance board. It doesn't pretend to be high performance and it isn't.
Other Thoughts: This is a simple board for a small price. It allowed me to rebuild a dead eMachine into a hearty HTPC.

decent motherboard
Pros: 8x AGP, Cheap, onboard Audio/Video, red mobo...
Cons: Frustrating BIOS, Stability issues when overclocked, frequent BSOD!and poor CPU mount... it was very loose.

Get what you pay for
Pros: Works as advertised...I had no crazy, stupid problems...this is my second time using this board.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Ues the customer reviews as part of your research on parts...see what others are saying then make up your own mind. A friend turned me on to newegg...Thanks Dre!

Works Great, Even At The Price!
Pros: Not a single problem.
Cons: I never get to call tech support, or spend hours and money getting things solved :)Just wish it had more PCI slots is all.
Other Thoughts: If your looking at this, your looking for a cheap replacement board. That's exactly what this is. I was suprised though, when it ran superbly well.

AWESOME
Pros: everything worked perfectly out of the box
can over clock fsb from 133MHz to 200MHz (on my celeron 320) voltages for cpu and ram can over clock ram no problem
Comes with software that allows you to over clock from your os(i used windows xp home) got to 2.7ghz from 2.4:)
program(warpspeed) allows to over clock by 1 or 3mhz at a time, monitors temp, voltages, and option to find the best speed for fsb on the spot:-D
Cons: DOES NOT SUPPORT WILLIAMATE CPU the sata connectors are 1.5Gbs as mentioned
my processor is only a celeron.. for now;)
Other Thoughts: this board as a fairly decent layout, can get a good sized heat sink in there
has thermal protection to shtdown if to hot(like most boards)

Pros: Well behaved board, reasonably stable, everything works.
Cons: For the price, I have no complaints.
Other Thoughts: I bought this board as an open box item. Trust Newegg when they tell you, OEM means no I/O shield, no manual, no installation cd, no cables, just the board. Finding the correct I/O shield is a potential problem.

Non-Existant Support
Pros: Good value for the features offered. Great value if Newegg happens to have any of the open-box ones in stock. Decent board layout. No stability problems.
Cons: Some others have mentioned various sensor related problems. I can add to that as well. The temperature sensors on this board are terrible. You simply can not get a consistent or reliable reading from them. But even worse, and what is utterly inexcuseable, is that Bio-Star USA simply ignore support inquiries, whether submitted on their website or via direct email. I have contacted them repeatedly and have never responded. Since I received no submission errors or email bounce-backs, I have every reason to believe all attempts were received but they can't be bothered to support their customers!
