Tech Level: somewhat high

Rating + 1 You don't need it

Pros: It might look good in your case with the blue LED fan, plus another way to fill up those old PCI slots of yours.

Cons: About to be obsolete. Stream processors in DX10 and higher GPUs can already perform physics calculations in real-time, but obviously programmers have to create a balance between eye candy and realistic gravity. And, from the looks of it, this appears to be just a fancy video card with no adapter; save your money and buy a DX10 card.

Other Thoughts: If you think it's worth it, get it. But the fact that few games support it, not to mention that DX10 capable cards can already process everything from physics to terrain, means that this card is already becoming pointless much like single-core.

Rating + 5 Great card

Pros: Offloads work from CPU / GPU and processes physics on games that utilize it. Frame rates on PhysX-compatible games went from choppy frame rates (9-15FPS, with no physX card and physX-features enabled) to a back-to-normal 45-60FPS. Very nice demonstrations available online that show off from realistic cloth-tearing, to my favorite, the behavior of smoke and how it interacts with what it falls, flows through, wrapping around obstacles, etc..

The card and the fan even shuts down when its not in use, so you don't have extra fan noise. The PPU heatsink fan also has a blue light to add some style to what seems to be a plain card.

Some argue that this card is useless thanks to multi-core processing, but one would be surprised how much more efficient this PPU (a multicore processor) and GPUs in general vs. a CPU.

Cons: Lack of support. The acquisition of AGEIA by nVidia may be a bad or good thing. For now nVidia claims to continue supporting the current card, for now (likely for "damage control": i.e., PhysX card owners developing a negative view towards nVidia).. And depending on demand, may implement future games with physics.

Other Thoughts: nVidia purchased AGEIA, pretty much ended the PPU hardware all together, while taking their code and plan on implementing it into future and current hardware (GeForce 88xx series cards can run PhysX code), if they haven't done so already.. So this card may be a bit useless now. I bought this card only for the games, which I play regularly, which were on the list of compatible games.. And because I just go totally geek for processors. :)

The acquisition is a mixed bag IMHO.. Some say nVidia is just being the evil corporation it is and instead of competing with a revolutionary product, pulled out its checkbook, bought the company and will implement the tech on its future cards to get a 1-up vs. ATI/AMD. Some see it as a good move because this means that physics processing will garner more attention from developers now that they're with a large company like nVidia, and implementation and current-gen hardware support will continue until this card simply becomes outdated.

Rating + 5 Worth it in the right situation...

Pros: Adds AMAZING depth and effect in those games that utilize it. Too many people get wrapped up in the FPS numbers - this will NOT improve your FPS, but it will dramatically improve the quality of the image being displayed WHILE delivering smooth frame rates.

Cons: Lack of broad title support, and will occasionally cause lockups when alt-tabbing out of a game window to the desktop.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this specifcially for City of Villains/City of Heroes and have not been disappointed. Would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking better performance out of those titles.
I have this in a quad-core 2.4GHz system, with 2GB RAM and a 512MB nvidia 8600GTS running XP Pro.

Pros: Very nice item, would recommend to gamers that want the added visual effects. Bought the Asus Physx card (no longer available from newegg ?) Explosions are more intense and lots of debris raining down all around.

Cons: Not enough emphasis on physx in the gaming industry. After using this card I can't figure out why all new games don't have an option for using Physx hardware.

Pros: how much of a difference will this thing make in a system with phenom 9600 on asus m3a32-mvp 790FX spider with 8gigs ocz Reaper and a geforce 9800GX2?

Cons: seen nvidia talk about buying ageai and putting it into they're cards. and since card I'll have when evga sends my stepup is like super brand new. wondering if it already has tihs power

Rating + 5 READ THIS

Pros: I just want to say to those people with supposedly "high" understanding: People, you have to realize that you have to have a high end system for this card to work properly and I am sorry but system that has 7900 in it, is no long high end. If you have 8800 and up you will be more then satisfied with this product at its current low price. Also, for those with "high" level of understanding: GeForce 8800 and up, DO NOT HAVE THIS INSTALLED IN THEM, I repeat, THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS INSTALLED IN THEM. I just wanted to share this, because it seems that people are really misinformed and writing wrong things for others.

Cons: Granted no many games use the advantage of the card, but that is not the fault of the card, but rather game developers as they are lazy and do not want to create something extraordinary, yet want to make quick money on their games---->translates to some horrible games that have been recently released, that I cant even believe are out there. Hopefully in the future more games will take advantage of this card. It has been acquired by nvidia, so evidently it has a future in gaming!!!! Thing ahead people

Other Thoughts: If you have the system for it, definitely buy it. It's cheap. By no means, if you have the system buy it!!! If you don't and buy it, stop complaining, because you obviously did not do your research.

Rating + 4 Great but not needed

Pros: Works fantastic with the few games that work with the PhysX processor.

Cons: Too few games with PhysX support to make this worth the money spent on it.

Other Thoughts: Since nVidia bought out the company that created the PhysX processor they have found a way to make your 8000 series and newer GeForce cards do the work this card would do. Best of all they achieve this with a software download that will soon be available.

Pros: None.

Cons: An physic processor is a great idea, to bad it failed. Now, its just better to add another video card in crossfire or Sli. Atleast most game will take advantage of the 2nd video card.

Other Thoughts: Much like a Video Game Console (Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, etc..) if they would have released a strong game that hevealy supported the physx card, i think the card would have been really sucessful.

Rating + 5 This card requires a high end system

Pros: This card lets you play UT3 PhysX maps at playable frame rates if you have a high end system. It will also give you about 5-15 FPS higher frame rates depending on the stock maps. This is a great addition to a HIGH end system. If you have a high end system, then $100 should be no big deal, because it's well worth it for UT3. I have been playing UT3 with this since the DEMO was released.

Cons: None, if you understand what your buying. To many reviews here are from buyers with low end systems. They say they have high understanding, but they really do not. Single core CPU is not high end.

Other Thoughts: This card is not magic. If you have less than the minimum hardware listed on the AGEIA web site, do not buy it thinking it will magically transform your system into something it's not. High end meaning 2.4 Ghz dual core and up and 7900GTX video card and up. So, 8600 ddr3 cards are also barely OK. I run SLI with 7950GT and that is pretty good for UT3. A single 8800GT or 2 in SLI would be better.

Rating + 1 Wast of Time

Pros: Its an excelorator card, works with the right video card installed, and the few games that can use it.

Cons: Pricey for no more performance then what you get from this. Doesn't work with SLI, or my 8800GTX cards, and there is no mention of this on the box or the web site. This card is a very big disipointment

Other Thoughts: Put this with one of my 8600 GTS OC cards just to make sure it works. It does help a little with graghics in UT3 with the UT3 PhysX mod addon, but not really worth the cost. Your better off saving a little more and getting an 8800GTX or 98xx cards instead

Rating + 2 meh..

Pros: It looks great with the blue LED fan, and the ageia physX pack for UT3 is cool..

Cons: the pros are the only pros ive found.. i have since removed the card from my system because it really doesnt help in anything but UT3...and physx maps still run at around 25-30 FPS, which is ridiculous considering i got 20 FPS without it. i figured id be up near 60 FPS with this thing, but no.

Other Thoughts: I wouldnt waste my money on this if i were you. and to the people who say all new age nvidia cards have it, they dont, yet. but nvidia is supposed to release some sort of software upgrade that will enable it in the near future.

Rating + 2 It does what it claims but...

Pros: It does as it claims, somewhat noticeable improvement in supported games.

Cons: Small list of games that support it. No noticeable improvements in other games.

Other Thoughts: Get a GeForce 8600 or higher instead. They already have this built in and you'll actually notice an improvement in nearly every game you play. My guess is these won't stick around long, Nvidia will just incorporate it into future graphic cards. So save up for a GeForce 8800 and it will be worth it.

Pros: Does everything that it says it does.

Cons: Only works with a small list of games. It seems to have a lot of capatability issues.

Rating + 3 Power Hungry

Pros: For the price and what it does, is well worth it. Takes graphics to an all new level. takes load off gpu and cpu, also helps frame rate. If your playing games that use physx, you need this card. You just cant see every thing your supposed to with out it.

Cons: This card uses alot of power. I currently have 2 7800gt's in sli, 2 hard drives and big water 760i on a 650w ps. Only got this card to work once by luck. All other times trying to boot up I get a black screen. Waiting for my 1200w ps to arrive to end this problem.

Other Thoughts: Gave it an average rating because of power problem. Not really a issue with the card, but with my power supply. From what I experienced when I got it to work, it was awsome. Helped my old vid cards and got to see how the game was meant to look. Explosions and destruction brought to a whole new level.

Rating + 5 O.o

Pros: It gave me an er#c^!0/\/ to see this thing. Installation is a snap.. literally. And it works beautifully. On board drivers shut it down when not in use... the fan has blue LED's to let you know it's in operation. and gaming has NEVER felt so good. Just waiting for more good games to come equipped to use Hardware Physx (Crysis surprised me when it didnt :( )

Cons: Not a lot of games for this puppy. I would even like to see a screen saver setup for Hardware Physx

Other Thoughts: Warmonger for example. No one plays it online but it's awesome. There being a fire in the background and the particles of the burning embers reining down on you.. an RPG blast goes off and WHOOSH the pressure pushes them out and away.. it's just so cool to see.

Pros: Got my BFG PhysX card last week and I love it. I know Nvidia bought them out but I'm going with ATI on my next upgrade so I wont see the benefit. Improves 3DMark scores and makes games run better, even those that don't actually support the PhysX processor.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Only $100 after rebate, definately worth the buy.

Pros: everyone that says its a better investment to buy a quad core for physics is wrong. quad core processors dont have 4 cores to run physics in games they usually only have one or two. This phyics processor is massivly multithreaded and has made my UT3 experience much better than it would have been without this card.

Cons: its pricey for what you're getting, but it's worth it if you have a fast system and you want to elevate the eye candy in some games.

Other Thoughts: only buy this if you have a fast computer becuase itll slow your computer down if its slow.

Rating + 4 Seems Ok -

Pros: I ran the demo and the hangar game OK. I see an enhancement in playing my old favorite UT04. It is hard to explain the difference as it is said there should be none; but explosions seem more complex in a game that is not a PHYS-X game. Tell me I am nuts but I see an improvement in the look to explosions and decal stay and other detail.

Cons: It will not improve my old systems frame rate enough to play UTIII other than 100% maxed out on my CPU. Then again, it does not really influence the CPU use since it was 100% anyway. I could play offline Cellfactor OK in death match, but it felt clunky like UTIII on this old PC.

Other Thoughts: I'll keep it. $100 for a toy is not that much $$$ these days. Maybe they wil tweak the drivers some more yet.

System --> 478 Socket P4, 8800GTS, 2GB RAM, Asus P4GPLX...etc. Vista Home Premium

Rating + 5 Great buy in my personal opinion

Pros: So I researched this product extensively before buying it and own and play both City of Heroes, and Unreal Tournament 3. Now after reading much about this card I was under the impression that it only boosted preformance in supported games. Which since I have a really high end system I thought it would be worth the cash, as I play a few of these games regularly. Though originally thought those that claimed increased FPS in other games and applications besides the supported ones were just mistaken, as their site, and many users clearly state it is only for the supported list of games. Much to my surprise however my FPS have gone up in non-supported games an average of 10FPS including games such as: Oblivion, LOTRO, Call of Duty 4, and many other graphics heavy games. Now since I haven't installed anything esle when this change to place besides this product, I don't know what else it could be

Cons: None so far, I personally updated to the newest drivers for the card immediately and have had smooth sailing since I installed.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend if you have some extra cash, and a high end PC you take a look at this card, and do some research as I think it is totally worth the cash.

Pros: Painless install. Installation CD worked as expected. Nice price, great shipping; Thanks to the good egg!!!

Cons: Works on a handful of software.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this with Kuju Rail Simulator. MAKE SURE you have a program that supports Ageia physx processing. So far, appears to be working very well for Rail Simulator. Also make sure you have enough power supply to handle additional power to card.

Pros: It glows blue when it is being used. I don't even have windows on my case and I think that is cool. It does what it says but I haven't seen a huge improvement -- yet.

Cons: The technology is under-utilized I think. Someone needs to write a game that really leans on the physx.

Other Thoughts: It is worth every penny just to get your geek on. Try to describe it to a non-techy and the look on their face is just priceless.

Pros: Droped my CPU usage in crysis from a normal 89 ish to about 72 ish...and moves around from there but when you have a PhysX game like UT3...man, blow up some walls if you want or shoot a dumpster at some people. Suck a handy thing to have even with a rebate. Mostly cpu usage.

Cons: every time i start my computer. It looks like it turns on because you can see the led fan light up but when you get into window...or stat some non physics game it seems to shut off, not really a con but probly a power saver configuration.

Pros: Does what it says it does. Also adds 5-10 fps to UT3 playing speed on standard maps. Very nice, I recommend it if you play UT3 on a high end machine.

Cons: The fan is the loudest one I have ever heard. I need to investigate a Zalman for it. The caps are located in bad places for some reason. PhysX intensive maps do run at half the fps of standard maps, so you need a high end machine to make this worth while.

Other Thoughts: This is a nice addition to your high end gaming rig. If you have a cheap computer, don't waste your time or money, this is for high end game boxes only.

Pros: Aside from offering way too much physics moving objects in game without any kind of residual lag this card removes a lot of the stress from my CPU and GeForce 8800 from performing the Physics Processing in games like Cellfactor, Ghost Recon 2, Unreal Tournament, and does a fantastic job of controlling and manipulating than just my Graphics card alone with the Quantum Effects technology offered on the Nvidia 8 cards.

Cons: Had to step up my power supply from a 550 Watt to a 750 Watt Power Supply. No big deal though I needed to upgrade to get my 2nd 8800 GT to work properly.

Rating + 4 Physx Enhances Gameplay, does not improve fps.

Pros: The card increases the various physics modelling in games by taking care of the modelling for the graphics and computer processor. It also does some 3D vertex position calculations that would only be done by the Physx processor such as see through portals on first person shooters, extra model collision on battle realtime strategy games. IT WILL NOT DECREASE FRAMERATE. It is a completely independent processor. IT will enhance several aspects of the game for you that will only be available through the physx processor without costing you frames or processing power. In short, this card adds extra goodies that would only be available to you with this processor at no extra computing cost to your cpu or gpu.

Cons: IT WILL NOT INCREASE FRAMERATE, this is done by your computer processor or your video graphics processor. The card is not meant as an extra graphics processing unit.

Other Thoughts: This card will not increase or decrease your framerate, and for those that say it does, they apparently do not know or did not purchase this ppu (Physics Processing Unit). The unit is a seperate entity from the cpu and gpu. It enhances the explosions, fire, wind, water, air, bodies, vehicles, movement, smoke, clouds, balls, basically anything you see on screen that moves or that you can have an effect on such as when you break glass, pull or tear a sheet or fabric. It will take care of computing the movement of these things so that your graphics and computer processors don't have too. Oh, btw the extra's are soo worth it. I know, cause I bought it.

Pros: this card makes some games look amazing and it turns off the fan when its not being used which really helps since this thing is LOUD

Cons: most games dont use it.....UT3 doesnt look that different, but hopefully games in the future will use it better.

Other Thoughts: i totally agree with the guy below me. This card tends to add too much to the look of the game. when i was playing GRAW this thing would make the game choppy whenever there was a large explosion kicking up dirt. My rig isnt lame either. i have an 8800 GTS, so i was expecting the fps drop to not be extreme since my GPU is powerful but i guess i was wrong

Rating + 3 I've played all the Physx games.

Pros: Works great with Auto Assault and City of Heroes/Villians...that's about it. Noticed that my dual-core AMD FX60's CPU usage went from 70%-80% usage to 30%-40% when the card was enabled, not bad.

Cons: Games like GRAW 1 & 2 and UT3 look stunning! BUT have performance hiccups with big explosions. It's probably more fun to just play these games without the card. All other Physx games are garbage and not worth getting the card for. IMHO.

Other Thoughts: Fan died after a year. BFG offers lifetime warranty so it was easily replaced. BFG Tech support is great, a real pleasure to work with.

Rating + 1 No, it is the card

Pros: I had one of these for a while, and it forced me to get over my fear of selling over the internet.

Cons: Very limited game support, and has a habit of adding so many extra particles to explosions, that any load removed from your cpu is burdened on your gpu, end result being no frame rate garnered. Horribly overpriced, should be no more than a cheap soundcard.
Sounded like a good idea, but multi-core CPUs sound like an even better idea.

Other Thoughts: We were all in love with the idea that any discrete addition to our systems that meant less work for our other components equalled more performance out of those other components.
Multi-core CPUs could easily be used to do anything this does, and the lack of any real manufacturer support for knocking these things out seems to go along with that logic.
If you're 'unused' core can sit there burning a dvd for you while you play your favorite game, then any extra super wowee extra physics they want to include, can certainly be shifted there too, possibly at the expense of burning a dvd while your playing.
The way DX10 works, further negates any need for something like this in my opinion.
Way too little, way too late

Pros: i recently purchased this card and im expecting it to get here in a few days and for all those naysayers out there that think this card is worthless are wrong since games are starting to come out that support it. yes there has been no point of this card before this but now that UT3 is coming out everything is going to change.....oh yeah and when something has a 50 dollar rebate i tend to buy it

Cons: not too many games, but i think over the next year or so that is gonna change, and this card reduces frame rates, so make sure you have a good graphics card.

Other Thoughts: if there was no rebate i wouldnt buy it.

Pros: More particles, better physics, more eye candy

Cons: Needs a powerful GPU, effects not noticable, not supported by Havok physics, not enough game support

Other Thoughts: I preordered and bought this thing and I have never found it has improved my gaming performance. Sure I don't have the top of the line performance computer, but I haven't seen the need for this card come into play. I've tried loads of games with this card and I'm very disappointed that I paid a premium for this junk.

Pros: Well the price is finally getting close to the $100 they originally promised. I got mine at the beginning of all the hype and it is still functioning just fine. (Not that it's had more than a couple of tech demo's to take it beyond idle.)

Cons: Up until now this card has served no purpose in my computer. Hopefully the latest Unreal will change that.

Other Thoughts: I really hope the whole concept of multiple processing units takes of sooner than later. I don't really care if it's CPU's, GPU's, or PPU's, start adding support into the games already developers!

Rating + 3 Update

Pros: Owned this card for a couple months now. Gave it 'impressive' review back in August on a 7900GTX. Since then have upgraded to a 8800GTS. Just not seeing a big difference anymore. Seems the 8800 series GPU does its own 'physics'. Slight improvement on games that support 'PhysX'.

Cons: Wish it were PCIexpress. Really runs hot. Heats the whole case up 10-12C. Runs as hot as a graphics card. Needs to be ducted out the case like a graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Took the card out cause of the excess heat. Even with two 120mm exhaust and one 120mm intake fans. Use an Indoor-Outdoor thermometer to monitor internal case air temps. Had a clan buddy with a 8800GTS try out the card with basically the same results; slight improvement on games that support 'PhysX'. No heat issues though cause he has a new ANTEC 900 case from Newegg. Waited till UT 3 demo came out before writing this update.

Pros: Great physics in games that support this card Graw and Graw 2.Great effects in Graw 2(ageia island level.) Show's real power of power of PhysX processor.

Cons: Not many games that support. but hope the list will get bigger with time. Go to Ageia website for supported game list.

Other Thoughts: To the guy below me. This only helps in games that support it and it will bring framerates down not up as most people think it would as it creates more data to be processed by GPU. but in the end you get better physics in games.

Rating + 5 Sort of Nice?

Pros: the fact that it does help acceleration of physx in games

Cons: the fan is really loud so i disabled it and put it on the last PCI Slot so the PSU fan blows on it which actually does a way better job than the fan also alot wont complain about the fan because the fans in their pc is already loud most likely but mines fully watercooled (CPU NB SB Video card) with 4x 120mm quiet fans so i had the disable it cause it was 36dba on Load

Other Thoughts: i bought it for UT3 because considering how many games r UT licensed games and UT3 utilizes ageia to the fullest then UT3 licensed games will be ageia games also the Physx 100 in the PS3 Xbox PC and Mobile PC wont change because they r the same in all of them so u buy now or u buy later it wont make a difference except the price also i read that the PCI Express Version will have zero performance effect so if u have the money no need to wait plus 150 sounds just right not 300

Pros: Easy install, driver update was NO problem. Didn't try any of the games that came with it, bought it for Medal of Honor AIRBORNE. After installing I didn't really notice anything different at all. But I am running an ATI Radeon X1950 XTX so can't expect to much of an improvement than that. Uses a pci slot so does not conflict with any crossfire or sli set-ups.

Cons: a little expensive for what it does in my system but I can't complain.

Other Thoughts: I didn't expect a dramatic change to anything, I bought it just to spend money. I'm happy just adding Agea to the list of stuff my pc has in it.

Pros: Just an update to my first review, this technology is still performing as advertised. Not many new games since I bought it, but the ones I've gotten that support it perform beautifully with it. If you have the spare money to buy it, it is worth it. If not, wait till the Unreal3 engine becomes widely used.

Cons: As with any hardware, didn't come with the latest drivers when it arrived. That never bothers me, though.

Other Thoughts: I've read a lot of the comments people have left. Firstly, ALWAYS go download the latest drivers for a piece of new hardware. I guarantee it'll run better if you do. Secondly, unless a new patch has changed this bit, PhysX does NOT support CoH, ONLY CoV.

Rating + 1 Waste of money, time, and effort

Pros: When COH/COV allows you to turn on the Ageia support feature instead of disabling it automatically, the particle colors are more vibrant, like there are brighter colors, like fire spells have more fire--the game just looks more lively with the added lighting. It's pretty.

Cons: My husband had been eyeing the PhysX processor forever, and now that he's playing COH/COV, I decided it was one of the presents he'd really appreciate, so I bought it for his birthday. As "Horror" posted on 9/10/07, COH/COV crashes all the time now--sometimes it's fine for a few hours, sometimes it crashes as soon as your character loads on for the first gameplay of the day, and too often it crashes within 1 hour. The extra glow, the added light, the more sparklies don't make this card worth the price or hassle of restarting your game all the time.

Other Thoughts: People gave way too many eggs on some of these posts for this card. Too many grandiose comments were made about its performance. Theoretically, this card is fantastic, but implemental-ly, it's not working too well and offers no help for problems it's facing. All gamers want to see good in this new technology, but don't let all the talks cloud your judgement when writing your reviews because people really do look to these posts for guidance when deciding on a product to purchase. I give it 1 egg because you just CANNOT play COH/COV with this card running.

Rating + 2 When it works it is ok, read below

Pros: Increased graphics are really great when it works read below.

Cons: Ok, I have had this for about 6 months I bought it for City of Heroes which both NCsoft and BFG say they support. If you believe that for get it NCsoft does not have a clue and I went back and forth with tech support, basically most of the time the card is "greyed" out under options in other words the game this was made for does not see the card! I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed the drivers that came with the card not updating this time as the game tells you to do and it worked, however the game will also randomly lock up and crash if you leave it turned on, tech support had no answer for this. Now the real fun about a month ago I heard a odd sound, what it was, was the fan on the card fell off and ground itself to a halt on my sound card below it! Great! Card works still when it wants to and I installed an extra fan to deal with the heat from the fan that fell off.

Other Thoughts: Well, I think support for this card is terrible and the quality is bad as well, I mean the fan fell off, come on. Personally i would wait lomger to they get this right, gald I did not buy they card when it was like $300.

Rating + 5 Reply to U-235

Pros: U-235 does not understand the old addage. There is no replacement for displacement. Whatever can be done to a single, or dual core, can be done to a quad-core and get just that much more power from the system. Now if he was to make a statement about overclocking and how bad it actually is for your system, then I would agree. But this device is simply sharing the load in the main processor and the GPU. That is what it was designed to do. Its not a waste of money.

Cons: The machine you build is all about your personality and what you want your machine to be. I build machines for friends and family. Before the project gets started, I simply ask who in the family is going to be using the machine, and what is it really going to be used for. Most of the time my friends and family learn that a well packed gaming machine will surf the net and do the family chores just as well too.

Other Thoughts: So it becomes a matter of building a machine that can do both, and do it well. Too many times I have built machines only to hear the complaint that it will not play games very well. Well what do you expect? If you want an internet machine, then so be it. But my point is that because you build a machine beyond, or right at the edge of the technology, does not mean that a device that will give you that much more of an edge is a waste. Heck I drive a Chevy and I think owning a BMW is a waste! Especially when my Z-28 just kills most BMW's, and they paid 3 times what I did! Go figure!

Pros: Still graphics are wonderful, I haven't noticed the "frame rate" change that people were saying in tests where frame rates go down, though I directly downloaded the latest drivers immediately.

Cons: None really, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: OK, so yes the power requirements were there and I understood all that, however, I am now having serious cooling problems! This thing gets hot, I don't know how hot as of yet but I went ahead and purchased the Kama Bay with a Panaflo 114cfm fan and 5 tornado fans from Vantec in hopes to combat the problem. This may be due to the fact that I do not want to upgrade to a full tower and am still using a mid tower. My temps are at least 8 degrees C increased. System below:

Pros: Visualization improvements are note worthy in games utilizing the technology. Pretty blue LED *drool*, though I personally do not care for case lighting.

Cons: Not enough titles yet to completely use it to its fullest capability. Expensive stand alone product, though I am sure I will enjoy it to the expense (at least I hope). I remember the same "complaints" are "arguements" that people are saying about this card and not needing one from the mid to late 90's when seperate 3D cards were hitting the market (LOOK AT US NOW).

Other Thoughts: Power hog, I tried to share the same power cable via the one provided with the card with a 80mm low RPM fan, it wouldn't come on fully, plus since I installed it on the first PCI slot, it shut down all the other PCI cards as well. A little troubleshooting and I was able to figure out the error of my ways. Must make sure it has its very own Molex, therefore, it does not receive the "Plays Well With Others Award" in my eyes.

Pros: It does it's job, it provides physics processing for games and other programs designed to make use of it.

Cons: It's PCI. I only have one pci slot and it has my x-fi fatality in it. most new motherboards also only have one pci in them. wait for the pci-express to come out around november. the fan on this card went out fast, causing everything in my case to overheat. second, it produces WAY too much heat. they need to make this chip at a smaller process or get a better heat sink for it, even when the fan was working it ran way too hot. now it just sit's in a static bag on the back of my couch,

Other Thoughts: i needed to use this for programming with physics in dark basic.

Pros: Great card when I got it, it came with Ghost Recon:Advanced Warfighter. This card really does boost your video settings alot and helps greatly games now look great and theres no lag when big explosions happen (well as long as i don't have my resolution too high cause i only run a HIS Radeon x1650Pro 256MB lol)like the blue light on it since everything in my case is blue lit lol so it works. Also lowered my loading time to get into the server with the memory addition.

Cons: None that I see.

Rating + 3 physx what??

Pros: The lights look cool. The box it came in is a really creative triangle design. It's pretty cheap. doesnt take up much room. cellfactor runs decent

Cons: I wanted to try this card compared to duall 8800s in sli.
when I did, my framerate on cellfactor was half as slow with the physx card as it was with two 8800 ultras. I couldnt play all the levels in cellfactor with my two 8800s,but Id rather play two smooth levels then a whole game that runs just okay. I tested both with maxed out settings. If you have the money, just buy sli and a decent quad core. Youll get more physx then you need .

Other Thoughts: I was just surprised that my other system ran better without the physx card. I guess the only difference was sli. get the latest drivers as well. helps a little.

Pros: Dramatic & visible improvement in all games. BF2 & BF2142 really awesome. Smoke, fire, dust, rain, snow, and water especially realistic now. Went from 1280x960 to 1680x1050 on a 7900GTX and still got 10-15fps increase in BF2142. Puzzling is the bots in BF2142sp are twice as smart, more tactical. Setting on '100' was boring, now '50-70' is challenging. Wondering how much better on a game acutally 'written' for PhysX.

Cons: Wish it were PCI-Express.

Other Thoughts: Don't understand why there's negative hardware reviews and forums on this card. Got it cause refuse to give up X-Fi card in order to go SLI on graphics. Sorry, the sound is just too awesome! Thinking it together with an upgrade to 8800GTS could run BF2142 at 1680x1050(native). Had no idea it would be so powerful! Really looking forward to an 8800GTS now!

Pros: Nice packaging. I think if you blow up a car in GRAW2, a few extra pieces of metal bits go flying off. Maybe improved frame rate for unsupported games. Hard to tell.

Cons: I have to agree with the previous poster - when multicores go mainstream, it won't make financial sense for developers to build on top of PhysX.

Other Thoughts: My criticism is subjective. There may in fact be more physics processing going on under the hood. I'm just not able to see a dramatic difference during gameplay.

The Anandtech article</a> is an interesting read. Too bad for Ageia. I want them to succeed. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid I'm right.

Uranium - 235

Rating + 2 Pointless

Pros: Increases performance in many games across the board, though the difference is so slight it's barely worth mentioning. The one or two games that actually use this thing are nice, I guess, but why spend $150 so you can get a tiny bit extra eye candy? Would you spend an extra 33% on a video card that just shows a pretty lighting effect in one game?

Cons: These cards are pointless and a waste of money and I'll explain to everyone why. Part of the explanation is that very few games utilize all cores, especially since quad cores are going to be sweeping the market now. So what to do with quad cores? Well for starters, just have one core process physics. That's it. The second part of the explanation that people don't seem to have noticed is that games that support these cards require the developers to BUY SDKs to develop on the PhysX cards.

So think about this.

1) Multi-core support will become more popular, and more games will utilize all four cores. One will be a basic processor, one can run AI, another can drive physics, and the last can be free to pick up background tasks.

2) Developers will end NOT wasting cash purchasing the development tools and investing time in hardware almost nobody has, and instead simply code using the tools they already HAVE to use multi cores that most gamers own already.

Other Thoughts: That's it. This card is nothing more then short-sightedness on behalf of the creator of them. The only people saying that they're going to be super-awesome in the future are the people who are scared of their purchase. And they should be. A game that utilizes two cores or more makes infinitely more sense then a game that utilizes one core and proprietary hardware only a few people wasted cash on.

There is not a single reason to buy one of these cards unless that reason is "I like burning my money."

Pros: UE3 will be coming out this year, and it will have full support for this card and its engine. I know there are only two other games that utilize this hardware, but with the amount of titles coming out that will use UE3, this card is going to come in handy ;)

Cons: Not enough games right now, just wait.

Other Thoughts: UE3 is gonna rock us out, hopefully they are gonna use this card for something other than eye candy.

Pros: Whether u have a nice gpu or not it always helps to have alittle more espicially some thing dedicated just to physics.

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: to go buy what the other guy said..saying these will be obsolute due to faster multi cores and better gpu's that doesnt make any sence there totally different things. these will not be come obsolete.

Pros: Works as advertised, a lot of the effects are subtle, meaning it's hard to tell they are there because they are done so well, unless you know what to look for, then you're amazed. Also, instead of hardware upgrades, this uses software upgrades.

Cons: Need more software to utilize, but that'll come. UT2007!

Other Thoughts: Despite what others have said, this does NOT improve your frame rate in games that don't utilize it. It is not a GPU! Also, for the same reason multicore systems won't replace GPUs, they won't replace this either.

Pros: I do not own this card at this time.I just wanted to reply to the other persons statement that multi core cpu's will make this obsolete..this is not the case, as many people know cards are designed differently to handle specific things, which is the reason a cpu can never replace a graphics card, nor will it ever do as good a job as the phyics processor.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: So regardless as more games start utilizing the PPU, the more you will benefiet from it. I plan on waiting until Unreal 3 comes out before i get it

Pros: Card looks very stylish, makes games that support this card run much smoother and look awesome.

Cons: Uses up a precious PCI slot on my motherboard (one of two). They really need to make a PCI-E version of this card, it could make good use of the extra speed.

Other Thoughts: It's likely that these cards will eventually fade away as quad core and above processors become more common. Not very many games support the card and all of them are able to be played fine without it. If you are debating whether to get this or not, it really depends on how much you want to be on the cutting edge. This might be useless in another year or two.

Pros: awesome physx card. nice led blu light and good lookin heatsnk. Increased fps in games like bf2, hl2, and Graw 2. even if ur games dont support this card u will still get smoother gameplay, and better fps. More games are coming that will use this card. Definitely a Must buy. BFG ROCKS AS USUAL. NEWEGG and UPS BEST SHIPPING. ^_^

Cons: wish it was overclockable... but who cares it gets its job done without overclocking.

Pros: This is a Class A product , worth the money , I get at least 25% better frames per sec and theres a few more things in the game to see , but it also put better frames on my games like Spider-man 3.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I also play City of Heros a lot.
I am running AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo with 2 gig of OCZ ram and a 7950 GTOC BFG PCI-E, to see 25% good combo for the prices from newegg :)

Rating + 5 BRINGS NO HARMA TO ARMA

Pros: The card, as I have read in some of
the reviews does help somewhat in games like Armed Assault with the frame rate, even though it was not totally made to support it fully, no added graphics effects. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 is a positive added twist whcih does support it, overall very happy with the purchase of the BFG physx ppu.

Cons: The only drawback that I see, as other readers have said, it does not support a boat load of games but the ones that does support are very good.

Other Thoughts: Im running a fx-60 939 4gig of ram and a 7950 gx2, and the way I look at it, the physx card is a very good
addition to the system that I have. Not unhappy with the card or Newegg. thank you.!!!!

Rating + 3 Good card

Pros: Let's the GPU do its job.
Uses PCI slot, not PCI-E.

Cons: Requires power from PSU.
Not much support from games yet...

Other Thoughts: This card definitely makes a slight impact on non-physx enabled games (which is good because i don't currently play any games that take advantage of it). If you have a decent video card, this card will probably be worthwhile, but if you have a top of the line card, don't waste your money yet. My 8800GTX can probably handle the physics for modern games that don't a need physx card, and once the price drops some more, it will be much worth while.

However, Cell Factor (a free game made for the physx card), is a decent game for a short time. The concept is awesome and physics are real cool when you have a physx card, but the code is too poorly written to run really well even on the best hardware (I was only getting 20 FPS with an 8800GTX, PhysX card, 2GB RAM and Core 2 Duo).

To recap, this card is worthwhile, but not worth the price until more games can use it. Wait until price drops under $100, then get it.

Pros: Great potential some fun games etc out alot more pro once other games come out for it all.

Cons: Physics in flux atm defeinite potintial just needed alot more comapnys peopel to realize it. Lot of games have to wait for but when they do and the pyhsics feature done right. Will be the spark the it needs.

Other Thoughts: The whole point of a hardware Physxs card is to have Hardware dedicated soley to Producing physics. No matter what is done even if ya have quad core dual graphics card setups.

All that jazz the physics or any part is still using those resources even with the best effecent software for it having that and effecent hardware can do hell lot more.

Hardware does Physics have the other resources available for anything else.

Pros: This card will give you a boost of about 6-16fps in a normal no-physx enabled game but in a physx enabled game you will get a max of 6 fps extra if you have a good setup also ,it makes an ordinary object look brilliant in detail but if you're not a Gamer with needing intensified graphics do not get.

Cons: the problem is just not every game supports it it will still boost your fps.

Other Thoughts: My setup 2x8800ultra overclocked, intel quad extreme QX6800@3.93, 2GB XMS2, ageia physx (of course), and x-fi xtreme gamer.

Pros: Much cheaper now. I bought mine when it still had the 299.99 price tag. I've had a blast with this card...it's worth it.

Cons: Takes up a PCI slot.

Other Thoughts: I enjoyed all the Physx enabled games, especially City of Villians. Perhaps that's why I had a better experience than others. Only disapointment was when Big Huge games canned the support for Physx in their title Rise of Legends (AFTER the games release! WEAK!) Otherwise there were plenty of fun Physx supported games to justify this purchase.

Pros: It makes games such as CellFactor look incredible, but doesnt improve other games. It's a great idea and im sure it will be more useful with future games.

Cons: As I said in the pros, there arent many games that support this, but the ones it does support look sweet.

Other Thoughts: As the other reviewer said, this doesnt increase graphics, it just adds more physics capabilities.

Rating + 5 PhysX Review

Pros: Wow, I must say that card really does work. The card itself is not very big and does not give off alot of heat. I started testing the card out with Cellfactor, Bet on Soldier, and Infernal. All three games are PhysX enabled and I see new graphic effects that were not in these games when I played them without the PhysX Card.

I average 55 fps in Cellfactor at 1440 by 900, with all the options turned on to the max. When I tried Cellfactor without the PhysX card I had a average of 17 fps.

Its a great card for the price.

Cons: Unreal 3 is not out yet, so I can't use my new card with it.

Other Thoughts: My System Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.6 ghz, EVGA 680i motherboard,
EVGA 8800 GTX 768 ACS3,
Vista Ultimate 64 with 4 gigs of ram

Pros: Definitely helps with games that can actually utilize the PPU. Makes specific games (Like Cell Factor) run much more efficiently.

Cons: Not enough games can make use of this card yet.

Other Thoughts: Not sure just how useful this card will actually be. Newer video cards have built-in PPUs. They aren't as efficient as a dedicated PPU, but they are making decent changes toward making the on-die PPUs more powerful.

Pros: It works great on PhysX enabled Games plus further support guarenteed with the UT3 engine being well liked by many developers.

Cons: Right now I can think of none for under $150 buy it

Other Thoughts: I saw a post regarding ATI's answer to PhysX and it is not a good bet let dedicated hardware do it's thing leave graphics intensive games with the hard task they already have let the gpu be a gpu.. it is not a physx card!
ATI says thier GPU can do physx well go ahead with todays games already eating up SLI rigs ya really wanna lose graphics performance to get PHYsX or do ya want to Keep SLI and buy dedicated hardware.
NO WHERE NEAR OBSOLETE ! The Idea is just starting.

Pros: It makes several games that don't even use this card a whole lot better. BF2142 looks better for grenade and explosion effects, and if you play games like CoV then you really see a difference in the right situation. Takes about 1-2 FPS away from most games.

Cons: Heats up the system pretty good. My 7800 raised 5c when this card is in the machine. Decided to buy one of those PCI slot fans to cool the system back down. I would also say the cost isn't worth it unless you have the extra money and decide to enhance your gaming enviorment.

Other Thoughts: I actually have an Asus Physx card but they took it off newegg.

Pros: Well for under $150 it's not a bad purchase.
Future ready I beleive
When being used ingame it's great

Cons: Not to many games are supported at this time.

Other Thoughts: After re-playing Infernal this is why I did purchase this card it does look much better when I say this I don't mean it makes your graphics look better all through what it does do though is makes fire look and move realistically.
Plus get Fluids which without this card can not be done nore can the explosions which look great.
Although the fluids dissapear shortly after strange..
I am happy with this purchase for under $150 I would recommend it even if there are not many games yet figure it this way I am sure many people have wasted $150 on more useless stuff like...drinking
Don't wanna say it UT07 ready who cares what is important is many games will use the U3 engine which means more use of the PhysX card.

Rating + 3 good, but almost obsolete already

Pros: You can buy one now...infernal and cellfactor both have some great effects only utilized with this card installed. It's the first step into next gen game effects.

Cons: Customer support sucks, lots of hardware incompatibilites and driver issues. I've read several reviews in which it was discovered that you can still play games like cell factor even without the physics card no matter what the requirments say though frame rates will suck in the few areas in which the physics card is used. Hard to tell just how much this card is doing.

Other Thoughts: ATI has been developing a physics platform with HaVoK in which you can use any old ATI pci-e video card as a designated physics card. Either 2 cards, a signle card rendering video & another for physics calculations, or have 2 cards in crossfire with a 3rd card doing physics calculations. Reportadly even using a x1600xt 256mb card as the physics card it was still 9 times faster then this card. Nvidia is working on a similar setup as well. So if you can't wait, it's worth it just because it's a milestone of sorts, but if it's between getting a video card upgrade or this...get a new video card and use your old one as a physics card in a few months =P

Pros: grest if it worked.

Cons: issued with 680i boards no matter what u use, drivers, vista or xp freezes up as soon as physx happens in the games, uninstall this and ghost recon works fine. no help from ageia, evga is trying to reproduce this issue, been 2 weeks. ageia hasnt responded to my ticket in two weeks. so good luck if u have it, some have reported it to work, but i have seen more than enough people having this problem. 2 reviews below me seems to have the same issues.

Pros: Had to get a new computer when the old one took a dump. Got a Dell XPS 710. Had to make some sacrifices though because of the financing. I pretty much only play City of Heroes/Villains. This card has taken care of almost all of my old lag issues with the game, especially during big AV/giant monster battle. Would definitely recommend to others, provided they have the games that support it.

Cons: Not alot of game support for the card at the moment, maybe 20 or so. Check out the website so you can see if your game is supported.

Other Thoughts: Not in my case, but for others, I hope more developers would take this card into account.

Pros: would be great if it worked more then a minute before freezing up.does add upgrade to physics graphics.

Cons: freezes up all the time no matter what drivers you have installed.very poor driver support updates are few and far between.there are issues with this product dont buy it.the minute i disable the card in device manager advance fighter runs perfect enable again and get ready for hitching, and freezing up.should be a pci-e version who has room for another pci card?

Other Thoughts: i have high end gaming rig core 2 extreme,8800 gtx in sli.i took one of my cards out because of lack of room for another pci card.{8800 gtx are huge so eats up extra pci slot}to give this card a try adds effects but at what price.not worth the head aches or the money
