Works Great
Pros: I bought this to give me a few extra USB ports and for the firewire ports. I'm using it with the ASUS P5B mobo and everything works great. Its cheap and does exactly what its suppose to, you can't ask for more.
Cons: none

Best USB Firewire PCI card
Pros: This is definately the best USB firewire PCI card out there! The cheapest overall, and absolutely no driver issues, even on Windows 98!
Cons: There is no port on the card to hook usb 2.0 to the front of the computer, I have to wire one myself.
Other Thoughts: Buy this one, its excellent!

Not Mac Friendly
Pros: Nice to combine USB with Firewire on one card. Inexpensive.
Cons: Not compatible with OSX and Macs.
Other Thoughts: Some add-on cards for PCs also work with Macs (even if they are not listed on the spec). This Zonet card is one that is not Mac friendly. A good deal, nonetheless, for a standard PC owner wanting both USB 2.0 and Firewire capability.

Not so hot...
Pros: Cheap, has lots of ports, firewire and usb.
Cons: XP could never get the card to install correctly. Got it installed after it hung my system and I almost had to rebuild it - after multiple safe boots and last known good config, system came back up. Never finds all the drivers it needs - DON'T install the drivers on the disk only for WIN98.
Other Thoughts: Will keep the card as the Firewire ports lit up, but two out of the three usb ports no good. Did not try to contact Zonet for support, cheaper for me to buy a usb hub than spend time with a tech. Better, less restrictive cards out there.

Works nicely
Pros: Plug and play with Win XP. Fast transfer. Space saving USB + firewire combo in one card...2 for 1! Works with my iPod nano, external card reader and Panasonic GS150 digital video camera.
Cons: Vertical firewire slots can be difficult to use. Cables do not plug in all the way due to external enclosure and PCI slot configuration. I got around that by cutting back the edge of the rubber part of the firewire cable a bit (chamfering/bevel). You only need to modify the cable once and you're done. Your configuration may vary.
Other Thoughts: I got an iPod nano and needed a USB 2.0 port to sync and charge with. My older Dell Dimension (8200) only had USB 1.0 and no firewire. Plugged in, XP detected, and up and running. Later I bought a Panny camcorder and I was already set for uploading video. USB and firewire works great. It would have been nice to have an internal USB pin connector on the card to connect front USB ports and internal card readers, etc...my fault for not being able to see into my future for my needs. =) Newegg rocks. Best pricing, great service, fast shipping.

Wish it worked... <sigh>
Pros: None for me.
Cons: Well, I decided to buy this card to upgrade my Dell C/Dock-II to USB 2.0 because of the high customer rating and price/feature set. I am running XP SP2. Windows did in fact load the proper drivers. Unfortunately, the only USB device that works is a webcam. The card will not recognize an Ativa 1gig U3 flash drive, nor the HP C3180 multifunction printer I just bought. After speaking with Zonet tech support, the guy freely admitted that there were issues with the VIA chipset and compatability with some systems. The "USB Device Not Recognized" problem was "common" according to him. When I said, "Then this card is basically useless for me then?" He replied, "Yeah... basically." At least he was honest about it.

Firewire transfer problems
Pros: Convinet card with three USB and two firewire ports.
Cons: Firewire ports are not functionning properly.
Other Thoughts: I installed the card into a spare slot in my computer (Windows XP Operating System)and it was properly activated and found requred drivers. The USB ports where working OK. When I connected my Canon Video Camera to a firewire port in the card to capture a video file, the card acted in strange manner, choking my computer and disabling mouse and sound functions. Transfered video farames were fragmented and the file transfer could not be sustained. After I read some other most recent reviewes of this product I recognized the problems other people have with this board. I will return this product.

Not the greatest card..
Pros: Easy installation.. adds a lot of usb and firewire ports
Cons: dv video import via firewire skipping frames
Other Thoughts: When I got this card and installed in a new system I thought it was great. I installed xp on a fresh drive and the card got detected no problem. Hard drives and CD drives I connected to the card seemed fine. The problem with the card happened when I went to import some dv video via the firewire port. It was skipping frames and acting weird. I thought it was my video editing software. Eventually I figured it out it had nothing to do with that as I tried 3 different video editing packages. I also tried different drivers for the card. The answer in the end was the VIA firewire chipset this thing uses must be cheasy. I put in my old 3 port firewire card and it fixed all the problems. Now DV video via the firewrie port imports no problem.

Cons: it's not free & install itself...
Other Thoughts: I have no thoughts...

Nice combo card
Pros: Windows XP detects and installs automatically unlike my other PCI USB card that requires drivers off a CD.
Cons: The vertical firewire ports can be tricky. On my Thermaltake Aguila case, the cutouts in the back of the case are exactly the same height as the firewire plugs. I had to manipulate the card slightly in order to get the cable to plug in. Very tight, but once its in, I never unplug it.
Other Thoughts: Great solution for someone who doesn't have firewire on their mobo and who couldnt use a few extra usb ports? I now have 11 usb ports on my PC, and using pretty much all of them.

Zoneet Firewire/usb2.o
Pros: Very Fast, excellent card for the money.
Cons: No usb pin connector's ie...4wire connectors. Only 1 internal connector has usb port connector, and not the 4 wire variety
Other Thoughts: As usual Newegg rocks on prices and shipping. This one came Fedex. Arrived before scheduled delivery date. Pleas change back to Fedex for all your shipping needs Newegg. Also should have bought a connector for internal usb to front usb ports. My bad.

Good card, but...
Pros: Card works well. I've not had problems connecting any USB or FireWire device to the card. WinXP installed it seamlessly.
Cons: The internal connectors are not what I'd hoped for. The card was bought so I could connect the front firewire ports of my case. The internal port is not designed for pins, simply another cable. Useless for my application.

Beware if you have VIA chipset
Pros: From the others reviews, this combo card would seem to be a low-cost and great functioning product. Most buyers seem to have zero problems. Newegg, of course, is great as always.
Cons: DO NOT buy this card if you motherboard runs with a VIA chipset. I have a KT7E motherboard running an AMD processor. My computer will not load into Windows XP (SP2) with this card installed in a PCI slot. I have had no success in finding a solution. BEWARE and check your motherboard before buying this product! Read some of the other reviws of people with VIA chipsets.
Other Thoughts: Just check your hardware before buying this low-cost and great sounding product. According to some of the other reviews, Intel hardware seems to run this fine.

Great card
Pros: Cheap! USB 2.0 and fire wire. Works great with my Canon ZR700 Mini DV camcorder. Can't get video off the tape without a fire wire card! Comes with needed 6' cable which I didn't realize so I bought another cable :(
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: newegg rocks but was better before they switched to UPS shipping

Works perfectly
Pros: Installed easily and XP set it up automatically. Driver CD was unneeded.
Cons: Can't really think of any.

I saved buying newegg
Pros: Works on my old P2 system with windows2000 and didn't have to install drivers. Worked with my ipod as well.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Thanks Newegg!!!! I see some people having problems under winxp. I'm using win2000 with no problems. Make sure your system is up to date before installing. And if it diesn't go in please don't force it, instead just flip it over and try again.

Pros: Installed flawlessly on Windows 98 second Edition
Cons: Windows XP SP2 automatically detects the new harware but keeps on freezing during the installation stages. The software that comes with the card is not compliant with windows XP. I will send it back to newegg ASAP and will purchase another card.

Quick, Inexpensive, Works!
Pros: Price, No drivers needed for XP, 2 for 1 card (USB 2.0 & Firewire 400/6 Pin), Internal Ports on both, & Not Junk!
Cons: A little loose near the rear center USB connector.

Inexpensive way to upgrade an aging system
Pros: I bought this for an older PC I have that is used for storage of music, and digital camera pictures. The motherboard only had USB 1.1 ports. This was an easy way to bring the system up to current standards. For me, the firewire connection was an added bonus. This was very easy to install. No driver issues under Windows XP.
Cons: none

Pros: Just got this card today,I ordered it late on April 4th,I got it early on April 7th,pretty fast.Install was easy on my Sony Vaio,I just popped open the case and snapped it into a free PCI slot, started my PC and the card was instantly detected by XP,all drivers installed themselves. So far this card is great, I got it because I wanted to speed up transfers to my MP3 Player and external hard drive, can't beat the price either after rebates, way cheaper then going to a local electronics store and buying one off the shelf. NEWEGG.com rocks.
Cons: None so far, hopefully the rebate comes, some companies "forget" to send them sometimes.

Cons: seems like the plugs are installed upside down from what I am used to, but other than that none.

Pros: Recognized immediatly by WindowsXP Pro SP2a. Connections on the firewire and usb ports seem solid.
Cons: For some reason transferring files to my external drive is faster using firewire, despite USB 2.0 having a faster throughput. Not sure if this is due to the card or not.

Great Value!
Pros: I have to say, the card works great, and at an awesome price to. Plus, it come with a firewire cable which I found handy with my digital camcorder. I've already transfered my videos to my computer using Windows Movie Maker, and it works great. It was easy to install, and windows recognized it right away.
Cons: The only con is how on my dell the firewire ports are just barely exposed enough. However, the firewire plugs still plugged in fine.
Other Thoughts: Shipping came as expected, this tool is great for anyone with a digital camcorder. It also comes with a firewire cable. (and some cables cost more than the actual card itself!)

Correction
Pros: Great card, instantly recognized by Windows XP, can't beat the price. Most cards with only USB cost $30+.
Cons: The vertical Firewire ports make it almost impossible to plug in devices. The case frame around the PCI slots gets in the way.
Other Thoughts: I had reviewed this product earlier. I gave it a poor review because I could not get it to work. However, I was told by many people to try multiple PCI slots, so I took out my old modem that I don't use anymore, and it worked!

IT DOES WORK ON WIN XP
Pros: I dont know what those guys are doing wrong or what they're talking about because I have this running in my machine (OS win XP home) and no problems. It's been a year half since I had this card and it's well worth the money. It enables you to connect your front port USB and FIREwire to this card if your MOBO doesnt have any of the standard connections. It has 3 USB 2.0 and 2 Firewire and at this price it cant be beat
Cons: The con is that the price is low this card.
Other Thoughts: AMD SEMPRON 3000+ 1 GB PQI DDR 2700 RAM WIN XP HOME WD 120GB

CANT USE WITH MY XP AND AMD
Pros: Lots of usb 2.0 ports, too bad I can use in my COMPUTER!!!!! Customer support did respond quickly to my dilema. They need to state incompatability issues in the product description instead of stating it will works with xp which it does of course unless you have a set up like mine. It would also be nice if there was mention of it in their website.
Cons: Never have I had a problem intalling any pci card, but when I put this on in my computer it would freeze on startup, I have windows xp with sp2. I tried a variety of different things and ended up having to reinstall windows. Here is what Zonet customer support emailed me:Hi,
This is most likely to be caused by a legacy hardware or software incompatibility issue.
Since this issue involving not only the card but also the operating system and the system board, we could not be specifically fixing the problem you have.
Please go to the link below or search in Google for more help in trouble shooting the issue.
http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/USBProblems.htm
If you could not get the card to work as you intended, please contact the retail store for return or replacement.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Other Thoughts: My neighbor bought the same card with no problems but he has xp with a p4 system and I have an amd. I am going to try the card in my other system but if it doesn't work I can always sent it back.....

Good and cheap
Pros: Easy install. Windows XP SP2 detected and installed the card with no problems. I purchased this because Adobe Premier Elements would not detect my Sony camcorder using USB. I hooked it up started Adobe, it was recognized right away and I started capturing video. Included firewire cable is a bonus.
Cons: None that I have found. (Yet to see if it works with Linux.)

Windows XP won't recognize
Pros: Would be a nice add-on if it actually worked. Lines up nice once installed.
Cons: Windows XP refuses to recognize the card. I kept getting error messages, and it continually caused Windows to lock-up during the initial load screen.
Other Thoughts: All my updates are current to my knowledge.

5 Minutes to install
Pros: Install took 5 minutes total, including driver updates. Worked first time I hooked it to my 2.0 External HD, much faster then previous 1.1! Great product for the money (so far)!
Cons: Accompanied install booklet very vague for novices, but fine otherwise.

Works great
Pros: I bought one for my WinXP and it works great. Bought it for my iPod and it works with USB 2.0 cord and Firewire. Liked it so much that I bought another one for my parents and put in their Win2000 machine. Both recognized it easily without the need for extra software.
Cons: None (The firwire ports were a tight squeeze, as some have mentioned, but mine fit just barely).
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for usb2.0 or extra ports this is a good choice.

Pros: Installed easy w/ XP Pro did't need to load supplied driver. USB 2.0 works much faster. Firewire works great w/ Sony camcorder.
Cons: none, so far all is good

Poor Firewire connections
Pros: Bargain price. Excellent USB2 performance
Cons: Bad Firewire connection. Cable falls out.
Other Thoughts: Firewire connections won't hold the cable. They keep falling out of the card. It appears that the sockets are not gripping the cable connector. I've tried several cables, including the ones that come with Zonet cards. I have Zonet Firewire only card also and it works fine.

Great Combo Card and Newegg Rocks!
Comments: I ordered this on a Sunday afternoon and went with the 3-day shipping. I received it on Tuesday! Now thats fast service. About the Zonet card, It installed flawlessly on my XP Pro system, no driver CD needed. True plug'n'play. The card works exactly as it should. USB 2.0 is so much faster with my Sandisk 1GB Mini Cruizer (of course bought from Newegg). Also the Firewire ports that others have complained about becuase they are upright was not an issue for me at all. I had no trouble plugging in Firewire cables in either of the 2 ports. I have a Lian-Li case, but I don't think that has anything to do with enough room to plug in Firewire cables.

Didn't work with XP sp2
Comments: Try this card with Windows XP and service pack 2. XP wouldn't recognize my usb devices plugged into it. Other forums say that it isn't a card problem but a Microsoft problem with SP2 and VIA chipsets. Tried all the MS hotfixes/patches that everyone recommends. Still didn't work. Tried an ALI chipset card and it worked. The USB cards that most have had the best success with is with a NEC chipset. It is a Microsoft problem, not the card. Hope MS fixes it soon.

Great Deal
Comments: The Zonet add-on card w/ Firewire and USB installed easily, and installed without issue (Win XP Pro). It came with a 4pin - 6pin Firewire cable also, which was a nice surprise. Drivers installed on start-up; checked to verify and drivers initialized w/in device mgr. The card is a tight fit in a Dell chassis and it appeared the Firewire ports may be blocked, but everything worked without any hassle. Attached a Sony Digital Camcorder and began streaming video within minutes. Greatly enhanced by Firewire functionality w/in Windows Movie Maker. The order arrived ahead of schedule as well.

Firewire had problems
Comments: For the most part, this card works great. I mainly got it for the extra USB ports, but thinking that I might use the firewire ports down the line. Sure enough, I purchased a Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder. The firewire ports did not work with my MiniDV when it came to capturing the video. It would drop 2 frames for every 1 frame it captured, making the video skip. I tried it with numerous software and nothing worked. Ultimately, I ended up going and buying a different PCI card that just had firewire 1394 ports, and the new one works great. The USB ports on this card work flawlessly.

An excellent deal on a great card!
Comments: I bought this for my 2 yr old PC. The thing I really love about the card is the inputs on the back to connect to a card reader in the front of the PC. Easy connection, and no compatability problems with my PC (ASUS motherboard, Athlon XP 2000+). Thanks, Newegg. (BTW, purchased the card months ago and still happy with it).

Issues with VIA chipset
Comments: I read somewhere that there are issues with this card and motherboards utilizing VIA chipsets (the card itself has a VIA chipset). Sure enough, I could not get this working on my Gateway, which has a VIA chipset. I tried running the installation off the CD and still no progress. The directions are terrible, so I gave up.
I put the card in a Dell, which has an Intel chipset and it works fine. I didn't need the installation CD at all. XP just found the card and did everything automatically.

FIREWIRE/DELL PROBLEM
Comments: I have a Dell Dimension 4400. Although the functionality of the USB 2.0 card is great (I have a printer, an IPod, and a Maxtor One-Touch external drive all running off the USB 2.0 ports at once), due to the fact that the Firewire ports are oriented horizontally (as opposed to the vertical USB 2.0 ports) the DELL case/cage prevents a snug fit when attempting to plug in a firewire cable.......the result is that one cannot get a firewire connection from the outside of the card. What did I have to do; I jury-rigged it with my firewire cable plugged into the internal firewire port on this card, and have the cable dangling out the back of my case through a wide open empty expansion card area. It is a hack that lets dust into my computer, but at least I can now use the firewire portion of the card....which does work flawlessly once one is able to hack the case/card combo enough to get a firewire cable to stay attached.

Great little card.
Comments: Great card for the money. I just installed it last night and already, I've seen a huge improvement in the time it takes to transfer songs to my iPod. I'm a little confused as to what I'd use the ports on the inside for, but I'm sure someone, somewhere has a great use for them.

A Winner
Comments: With no on board firewire on my Gigabyte mobo, I figured this would be a great way to go with USB 2.0 as a bonus as well and using the final available PCI slot. My only installation glitch was that I had to disable the on-board USB 2.0 on the mobo (forgetting I had it) because there was a conflict. After setting it to "disabled", PC booted right up, XP found it flawlessly, installed the drivers (I use XP Service Pack 2 but SP1 also contains it)and I was up and running within minutes. The included 1394 cable also was a match for my Sony Digital 8 camcorder and XP found that device immediately as well and I was quickly capturing my old 8mm tapes on my hard disk and writing them off to cd without a hitch (the main reason I bought this). I highly recommend this add-on card....and the $xx rebate I am getting is a bonus as well making this an under $xx net upgrade. Well worth it. And same great delivery by newegg.com....this time a day earlier than what Fed Ex tracking showed as estimated.

An Excellent Solution!
Comments: I have a 5 year old computer which came only with 2 USB ports in the back and I am limited to and wanted 2.0 instead of the obsolete 1.0 version. I almost bought a USB 2.0 "hub", but then I thought I'm missing "Firewire" ports and wanted to see if this "combo" exist, not only does it exist from a number available from different manufacturers, but they also wanted boat load of money for it. So I came across Newegg's site for a final search and stumbled upon this unit. This was the solution that I was looking for...and for eleven bucks, you can't go wrong. It's a solid tight fit into the PCI slot and there are one of each ports available internally for future expansion so I will buy a 3.5" front bay USB/1394 combo (cost only a few bucks) and expand some ports into the front for the digital camera, etc. and use the back for permanent items like the printer and other stationary peripherals. Truly a great product from a great reseller such as Newegg! Thanx for the fast shipping with FedEx!

great, but beware
Comments: A Warning: the inetrnal firewire is just a regular port. I have a firewire on the front of my case that I expected to plug into this card just as though I had a connection on the mother board, but this was not possible. Anyway, I don't need more than the 2 ports out the back.

Good Product
Comments: This is a good product. It fitted perfectly in the PCI slots in my Dell PC. XP/SP2 recognized it instantly. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because of the vertical 1394 ports. The openings are flush with the edges of the slot openings on the case. As a result, the firewire cable cannot go fully inside since the lips are stopped by the edges of the slot opening. This problem is not unique to the Zonet product but all USB or 1394 cards that have vertical openings. As usual, Newegg delivered as promised.

Great card with one minor problem
Comments: This card works great, windows detected it instantly! My only complaint is that due to the fact that the firewire ports are placed vertical in the card causing the firewire cable to hit the side of the case before being completely plugged into the card. I resolved this by trimming some of the plastic off the cable. This fixed the problem and downloading video from my camcorder works great.
