Great Overclocker
Pros: I couldn’t clock it high enough for it to fail, although everything else around it got a little flakey. If you have the Motherboard and Bios to keep your memory and busses running correctly, then this is a great RETAIL processor; but then, all the AMD retail CPUs will run as high as your system will let them go. At any speed I could achieve, the thing ran cool as a cucumber. My dual-Opteron 242’s system has nine case-fans and two processor fans but still runs way too hot. The new AMD Sempron 64 3000+ Palermo 1.8GHz system runs cool with two case-fans and the processor fan, core temp just bumps up a bit from nominal to full-load.
Cons: none

good cpu
Pros: excellent price. does well in hot areas (a downfall of the athlon xp 3000+ that it replaced, as the cooling tower in our bldg. breaks down regularly). it does what it's supposed to.
Cons: socket 754 so no dual channel, yet for this price, it's an ok trade-off.

Overall good product
Pros: Good processor for its range, fast with windows xp and without any problems whatsoever.
Cons: the heat sink isn't doing its job very well and it's keeping processor at 53 degrees when idle
Other Thoughts: CPU itself is fast and reliable but make sure you either buy other type of compound grease for the heat sink and the fan or another heatsink and fan all together

Great Processor
Pros: I have had this processor for over 2 years and it is an EXCELLENT processor, it always stays cool, and even though it is out of date it plays every game i have ever tried to play on it(such as Oblivion and Dark Messiah). It is well worth the money if you dont have alot of money to spend.
Cons: old
Other Thoughts: I have never overclocked it myself, but i hear it overclocks very well.

Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: NEWEGG Rocks!!!

Good budget processor
Pros: Very good processor for the money, runs XP very nicely
Cons: None to speak of
Other Thoughts: The included aluminum heatsink and fan actually do a pretty good job of keeping things cool. I was impressed.

Pros: Great price for a retail CPU with approved heat sink and fan. Used ths cpu along with the MSI K8MM3-V board to replace a dead socket A motherboard (1600 XP)unit. Within an hour I was up and running again. I prefer retail CPU units since the right fan is there and minimizes question if a warranty matter should arise, although Ive never had a CPU fail by itself
Cons: None

pretty quick for xx bucks
Pros: bought with an ecs k8 socket 754 mb open box for little xx. with half gig stick ampo ddr. runs at 1.18 ghz with no errors on prime 95,
Cons: none none none none
Other Thoughts: plan on buying a lot more of these at this price. motherboard is maxed out on overclocking capabilities but i don't think this thing is capable of running much faster. very impressed with the speed of this thing, actually astonished.....

big upgrade for me
Pros: upgraded office 486. MSAccess reports of 1 minute plus now take 12sec minus. Have AMD Tbred 3000+ at home. Runs ambient+28c. This one is faster and runs ambient+ 5 to 18c max.
Cons: none for me. Going from 486 to amd64 is a rush but others may opt for the latest and greatest toys.

Good considering the era it came from
Pros: Great CPU for the money. This was a customer build. As always, AMD and Newegg are Rock solid! For the era that this CPU comes from, and considering the technology advances since, this is still a rock solid all around good cpu for the average user. No probs here. Built several of these cpu based systems.
Cons: ZERO

Sempron to the rescue
Pros: I used this cpu to replace a 2200 athlon XP. I used a biostar mobo with worked great with this cpu. Although its only a 128KB L2 for basic task it runs fine. One thing I did notice is that it runs really cool.
Cons: Nada

Awesomely Affordable!
Pros: Great performance! Needed a cheap system for a friend, so i bought a combo with this cpu and a gigabyte mobo, and i was shocked! It ran as good if not better than my personal system which cost three times as what i spent on this system. Not into overclocking, so i can't say anything about that subject, but for the money, this cpu runs great out of the box.
Cons: i didn't buy more.

Smooth installation
Pros: Smooth installation, worked as promised on Socket 754 Gigabyte entry level but well featured mobo.
Cons: Pictures from AMD for installation were not as clear as could be. Final latching of mechanism was a bit ambiguous.
Other Thoughts: Excellent CPU for price! Might consider moving to Athlon 64 in future since price difference is small.

About Time
Pros: I have been building PCs for years and this is the first retail cpu I have bought, especially for the price. The cooler chip works well with my case. No more noisy high rpm fans. The chip uses very little power consumption.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you are a person that likes to multitask this is one of the athlon 64bit cpus for you. Outstanding product and warranty.

Bogomips
Pros: Runs cool. stable
Cons: a Sempron 3000+ bought replace a Athlon Xp 2600+ ( along with a new MB of course).
Yet the '3000+' processor only provides 3604.48 Bogomips while the 2600+ had 4154.98.
Other Thoughts: Maybe an AMD64 and AMD-K7 numbers are apples and oranges

Cheap, Fast, Low Power
Pros: This processor cheap, fast and very low power especially when using Cool'n'Quiet. What more can you ask for?
Cons: Not the fastest processor on the block, but fast enough for 99% of what you need.

Great processor
Pros: Great processor for budget builds and it's 64-bit. Great service from Newegg, as always.
Cons: None for what I purchased and use it for.
Other Thoughts: This is my 4th build with this processor. The first three were built with Gigabyte mobo's and the last with a Biostar. All 4 are running Win XP Pro and are running quite smooth. And I haven't overclock'ed any of them.

Great
Pros: Great Price, O/C to 2.2Ghz without a sweat, stock cooler, stock volts, idles at 25C, load at 33C. Going to push it further soon.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Paired this with BioStar T6100 Micro-ATX MB, 512MB RAM, Apex Case, 80GB HD, Leadtek GeForce 7300GS for a CHEAP (300 dollars) low profile Media Center with SPID/F and HDTV connections.

Another Good Deal From New Egg!!
Pros: Processor works like a champ. Low heat, good performance, best reliability. Just like New Egg Always Does, Fast delivery, Low Price,Did not break the bank.
Cons: Wish I could have purchased this processor years ago at this price!!!!
Other Thoughts: After 11 years of computer building and servicing, I will have to say this is the lowest price I have ever paid for any processor. And I have installed many!!! Better get them while you can.

Service and RMA
Pros: Amd is a good product and have used their products for several years now.
Cons: I Purchased a Retail version Sempron 64 3000+ Palermo and there was not way to install the heat sink and fan on my motherboard as fan had no lock down. Sent it back with RMA number and NewEgg has lost it. I can confirm they received it so where is my replacement?
Other Thoughts: Newegg is a good place to buy from as long as what a preson buys works.

Gentleman... quiet your engines
Pros: Price,Shipping was great (even with UPS). People always say that it installs easy, well, that's based on your heatsink removal, not installation. They all install easilly, it's removing them that can kill you. Read below to see what I mean.
Cons: The stock heatsink and fan may be adequate but seems junky to me. I couldn't get the fan to even fire up. I stArted the machine, didn't hear the fan kick up and yanked the cord out of the power supply ASAP. Checked the fan out, dead. LAME! Used hs/fan that was already in the machine before this cpu. LOW CACHE size hurts it.
Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a Sempron 3000 that I damaged in my girlfriend's COMPAq P0S. Tried to remove stock hs/fan to clean it and put some arctic silver on it. When I pulled out the hs/fan, it yanked the cpu out of the socket and bent more pins than I care to go cross-eyed fixing. The low cache hurts this unit. Her PCMark04 score with 1gb pc3200 and a 64mb 8500 Radeon card was 3222. Mine on my Athlon 3700+ (single core) with 2gb PC3200 and a 1900XT was over 7k. The 1mb L2 cache on my cpu helped me double her bench since this cpu only has 128k on the street named L2. Go for at least 256k.

good for budget PC
Pros: easy to install right out of the box. Good for budget, VERY budget PCs nowadays. This CPU combined with a BFG 6800GTOC and 1.5gigs DDR3200, I've been able to play games on mostly medium to medium/low settings. Good to overclock with more air cooling (I have a 13" fan next to my open case), sustaining Prime98 26 hours with an OC of 2.16GHz. 25 degrees idle, around 40 load
Cons: None, really.
Other Thoughts: BFG 6800GTOC, 1.5gigs Kingston HyperX PC3200, ASUS K8V-X, SB Audigy

Pros: Worked perfect right out the box.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: When you buy a cpu/motherboard combo and it works right out the box for less than $xxx, you just gotta love it. And Newegg, one of the fastest shipping times I've ever had.

Awsome ram.
Pros: Runs fast. As fast as a budget CPU can go. I have only had this for a short time and I am awed at how fast it was.
Cons: Single Core, I had a hard time running vista on it but its not ment for that so thats fine with me. Also I was used to a dual core and I had a hard time playing Dark Messiah with it.
Other Thoughts: If you dont have the money to get a 939 cpu this is your puppy. Dont expect to play Dark Messiah and know whats happening.

Runs super cool!
Pros: Good OC'ing with stable cool performance. Cheap!
Cons: Low FSB and Cache.
Other Thoughts: With the right board, this baby could become a speed freak.

Great product
Pros: It is a workhorse and has the early 64 bit technology. it actually runs vistas 64 bit version really well.(well as well as can be expected with a beta version of vista wich is still very buggy.)
Cons: No dual core and hard to find a board to fit since 939 and am2 sockets are out but I mainly use for my friends with dinosaurs that want a decent upgrade.

Great deal
Pros: Great for my 24/7 home linux server: Easy, fast, low-power consumption. Cheap and 64bit.
Cons: Obviously not a high-end gaming processor, small cache.

Pros: Man oh man, my first athlon and even though it is of the budget persuasion, I could not be more impressed. Stuck in a Shuttle case with only five twelve ram and integrated graphics, this thing can stream 720p video smoothly. Noticeably faster than my 3.2ghz celeron, and it feels just as fast as my pentium d 940 @ 3.9ghz in day to day tasks, and I am not even kidding.
Cons: that I did not try AMD sooner.
Other Thoughts: for the money, you absolutely cannot get a better processor.

Excellent Processor
Pros: Great performance for the price especially when paired with a large amount of RAM and a decent video card
Cons: nothing
Other Thoughts: I've had this chip for 4 months now and everything is just great! Just because this is a cheap processor doesn't mean it will suck with gaming. Make sure you have at least a gig of ram and a good video card. That is all you need. So if you're on a big budget, I really recommend this. Save the money you didn't spend on a better processor for ram/ a video card.

Pros: Installs nicely. Comes with heatsink and fan. Also has manual and Sempron case sticker.

The little processor that could!!!
Pros: The little processor that could! I bought this processor to test a Biostar TForce 6100 board that I bought earlier (opened box special came with everything but the rear panel plate). Processor runs great, overclocked to 2.2 easily with minimal change in heat. It runs at 41C on stock heatsink and fan. Compared to my Northwood 2.6 it ran Vista w/o any noticeable difference.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Be sure to do some research when purchasing processors, New Egg has two variations of this processor this one (SDA3000BXBOX) only has 128 L2 cache, the latter version named 3100+ (SDA3100CVBOX) has 256 L2 cache for the same price.

Straight Forward and Basic
Pros: All the needed features are included. Sound, Video, Network, 3 PCI, AGP, IO panel and extra USB headers. Seems Stable and Bug Free.
Cons: Documenation a bit sparse, and not a lot of extra software goodies included on the install CD.
Other Thoughts: I don't use the onboard Video, so no comment other than it worked OK during Setup and Installs. I have another EPoX board system about 4 yrs. old it has been letter Perfect.

Internet PC
Pros: Plenty of power for surfing the internet, listening to music and watching DVDs. Does okay for the occasional DVD burn as well. Paired with Biostar 6100-M7 M/BD. Good bang for the buck!!!
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: Runs cool with stock HSF. Did not OC as this was for a customer who just needed some upgradability maybe in the future. As usual Newegg rocks!

OK BUT NOT GREAT
Pros: Cheap stable CPU. Easily and robustly overclocked on the right board.Rips DVDs and music CDs quickly.
Cons: Low onboard cache rears its ugly head when when more difficult tasks are attemted. Not as bad as Celerons but not a whole lot better either.
Other Thoughts: Mated to a Biostar NV board with 512 corsair value RAM. The MB I think is very good. Built this machine about 6 months ago and it is rock steady. If you can get it, I highly reccommend upgrading Windows XP to the unofficial but excellent SP3 UWIN Installer Edition.

Overclockable processor for budget pc
Pros: cheap and because its an older slot it can be supported by inexpensive motherboards.it can hit 2.3ghz and higher.even at stock it was slightly faster than my intel 530 3.2ghz
Cons: none at this price
Other Thoughts: i underestimated this processor i built a computer with it assuming id give it to my sister in a few months while i save up for my high end gaming rig.im going to have a hard time letting this one go.

Great Chip for the Price
Pros: Great speed, overclockable, price. Although I didn't purchase mine from newegg, I still think it's great.
Cons: maybe it's my board but can't clock over 2.2 without freezing up.

Great CPU
Pros: Regardless of personal opinions the numbers speak for themselves, it is a excellent budget processor!! Weather you are building it for a budget pc, student, customer, or what have you it is a great processor with plenty of power for the everyday user. It’s AMD!! What more is there to say. I see negative comments about how it doesn’t compare to certain athlons and dual cores….. Um Hello that’s why they are totally different class processors, you don’t buy a mustang thinking it’s a Porche sure they are both powerful cars but they are two different class vehicles. Know what you are buying and don’t try to turn water into wine on over clocking
Cons: No cons, as I said before you can’t downgrade it against a processor that’s not in it’s class
Other Thoughts: Great buy!

good chip
Pros: i burned out my pent. 2.6ghz processor and was forced to get an avg replacement for my other amd board. this isnt the fastest chip by any means, but it is easy to overclock as i had it up to 2.4ghz with just the bios on my motherboard. i took it back to 2ghz because it was running hot, but i have some extra cooling on the way, so we'll see what happens.
Cons: older chipset and probably will soon be obsolete with some of the 939's fading with the new 940 on the shelves.

lo-price lo-temp hi-performance
Pros: Works great for gaming. Almost as good as a pentium4 2.8ghz. I play BF2, Counter-Strike:Source, and DoD:Source and get zero lag, good fps, and good latency with settings at near max.(And with an old Geforce5500!). Also it runs at 29c=idle and 31-35c=ingame(with stock cooler)
Cons: none!
Other Thoughts: By looking at the specs it may not look powerful but it definately is!

Cons: 754 Socket technology is going out...Didnt make a difference to me.

great processor
Pros: It's an AMD, 64 bit, easy installation, cost
Cons: The green packaging material that holds everything together in the processor box was all broken up. There was green dust all over the heatsink, Luckily the proc was in a plastic container. Either AMD needs sturdier packaging or UPS needs to stop throwing people's packages around.
Other Thoughts: Not as big of a boost in speed as I had hoped coming from an athlon xp 2000+. Applications open slightly faster and BF2 runs a little smoother but not enough to justify a new mobo and proc. I kind of wish that I had saved for an athlon 64. But thats just me. Maybe my old RAM and hard drive are bottlenecking it.

Great Proc!
Pros: Great processer for the money, It's AMD! Super easy install, obviously, if you can't align a triangle there's something wrong with you...Nice packaging, free sempron sticker! yay!
Cons: Fan is a tad noisy, but keeps it relativley cool at stock speeds.
Other Thoughts: Would've overclocked it if the computer wasn't for someone else, looks like it could handle an OC.

Great
Pros: As a moderate gamer I found that this CPU got the job done well. Being 64 bit and an AMD really gives this quite the edge in gamming over alot of intel processors although it is a Sempron. Not only does this CPU run great it stays nice and cool. I've have never gotten above 31 degrees on this thing even though i have it overclocked to 2.2GHz (245 FSB).
Cons: 128KB cache and the price has gone up a bit since I first got it
Other Thoughts: Don't let the 128K cache scare you out of getting this CPU. Being a cheap 64bit CPU really makes up for it.
Specs: MSI 760GX MicroATX 1Gb Corsair ValueSelect 80Gb Western Digital Sempron 64 3000+ (Oc'ed to 2.2GHz) Radeon 9800Pro

FANTASTIC low bucks OCer
Pros: I have 3 of these BX Palermo core CPUs (a 3000 and 2 3100s). The all run 24/7/365 @ 100% CPU. Easy OC. Price / performance on these is VERY impressive. The S64-3000 is in a BioStar K8NHA Grand nforce3 250Gb chipset and runs @ 2.25GHz, vcore 1.4v, stock cooler! In my apps the smaller L2 Cache doesn't make much difference compared to the 3100s. One of the 3100s in an ECS NFORCE3-A mobo. Also @ 2.25GHz, vcore 1.42v, stock cooler! The other 3100 is in an EPox 8KDA3J mobo running @ 2.58GHz, vcore 1.6v, big cooler required, recommend Arctic Cooling ACFZP64 Freezer 64 Pro if you're gonna bump vcore up at all.
Cons: IF your mobo will go over 250FSB then these will run reliably up to about 2.5~2.6GHz but require a higher vcore and that drives the temps way up requiring a much bigger cooler. Some apps might be sensitive to the small (128K) L2 cache but mine only show a very slight drop off compared to the 256K cached 3100.
Other Thoughts: On my next 'number cruncher' build I'm gonna try the 10x multiplier version of these fantastic chips (3300 or 3400). I expect 2.5GHz on stock vcore and stock cooler.

Sweet
Pros: Awesome for the price especially when bundled with the TForce 6100 Mobo
Cons: Its a Sempron so not the highest on the performance track but it still works great
Other Thoughts: I currently have mine setup like this:
-Sempron 64 3000+ overclocked to 2.2 Ghz -Biostar TForce Motherboard -512 Megs of RAM -Onboard Video and Audio -3 HDs And my idle temps are in the 40's C and the Under load temps are lower than 55 C
I havent yet been able to reach sustained 100% CPU usage even gaming so its just plain awesome for the money, i would definately recommend to anyone

Nice!
Pros: Great overclocker! Nice stable chip. Runs nice and cool at around 54c overclocked to 2.2ghz. Nice price too!
Cons: Heatsink and fan that come with it are pointless. I upgraded to a heat pipe heatsink with a 4,500 rpm fan and achieved way cooler core temps.
Other Thoughts: A very nice chip for the money. Go NewEgg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good CPU for a Good Price
Pros: Cheap and efficient. Not even a single problem so far.
Cons: None really...you get your moneys worth.
Other Thoughts: I was given the task to build 2 computers for both my parents. They set a budget of $500 to build both of them. For a CPU that has 64 bit and is for a price under $xx, I couldn't turn away. Decent proformance. All I worry about is it able to run windows vista (longhorn) once it comes out. Can't wait to see the results.

Hesitate on this deal is NOT AN OPTION! Have been using for 1 whole month
Pros: Budget processor price but EPIC performance!!! This 3000+ really gives you the processing power you need for a very affordable price. Here are some techinical details. My overclocking specs: 1.8ghz to 2.52ghz. FSB: 280mhz, HTT Multiplier set to 3x. 2x512mb Patriot 2.5 CAS value rams running at divider of ddr166. Voltage bumped to 1.52V. Running all this with an ASUS K8N with a Geforce 6600gt 128mb.
Temps: 31C idle, 38C loaded(ran CCE for hours)
My 2800+(see "other thoughts") runs a bit hotter and slower. 41C idle, 53C loaded. Entire computer is hot... bad ventilation.
Cons: THis maybe be my luck of the draw that I believe i have a faulty chip but still useable. Computer bluescreens everytime i restart the computer during windows boot. I have RMA'ed my mobo 3x testing all my other peripherals.
Other Thoughts: Running this computer with a 400W Thermaltake PSU, 2 optical drives, 3 IDE harddrives, a PCI IDE controller, and power on 24/7.
It takes me about 10 hrs to do a 8gb dvd encode using a 6 pass CCE method with DVD-RB on a 2.4ghz P4. Now it takes me about 7 hrs to encode. It's simply brilliant!
I also have a 2800+ on ABIT nv8 and it's rocking too. My OC on that is not even CLOSE to this chip. the 9x multiplier on the 3000+ really gives you that advantage!
Final Thoughts: If you want to upgrade your system to a very good performaning Gaming machine, try this: Biostar 6100 (the one that everyone got and it looks YELLOW) Geforce 6600GT 128mb and this chip.
ALL of this can be bought from newegg and can be had for less than 250 total. I think i'll buy this chip and that board so i can have a back up of parts. These 754s are being phased out so get your hands on these budget upgrades before we're all forced to spend hundreds on just cpu/mobo alone.
I LOVE SEMPRONS!! 64bit

Price / Perf leader in right mobo
Pros: Price / Performance ratio especially when in a cheap nForce 3-250(Gb) chipset board. Drop it in, set FSB to 250, use PC3200 and set BIOS to use /11 divider. You've now got 2.25GHz CPU with mem at DDR409, HT at 1GHz. Stock CPU voltage and stock cooler no problem.
Cons: Uhhh... hmmm, well a couple apps like the larger cache of the otherwise identical 3100+ and run a couple/few % better on the 3100+.
Other Thoughts: Makes for a great little background number crunching machine. Mine runs 24/7/365 with CPU at 2.25GHz and pegged at 100% usage. Been running now since about 2/16 but I've got same core, 3100+ in another nForce 3 board that's been at same speed, same load, same stock cooler since October 31st of 2005 w/o problems.

Bang for the buck
Pros: Amazing price overclocked to 256x9 on a Biostar TFORCE6100 which makes her runnin 2.3ghz. Benchmarked this processor blows away a Pentium 4 3.6GHZ, which cost's around 400$. This card idles 29c and loads at 43c
Cons: NONE

Pros: Runs much cooler than my old XP2100+. First time buying processor in a box. AMD fan is quiet. Heatsink came with grease already printed on it. Nice kit - worth the extra $$ over OEM processor.
Cons: None so far.

Great value
Pros: Value and performance.
Cons: I'm not one to list features it does not have as cons. If you are buying this, then you know what you are getting!
Maybe the one con would be the stock heatsink/fan. Most bundled w/ retail have been average in my experience. Upgrading that to something more efficient and quiet is easy enough though...
Other Thoughts: This processor is a great value. Paired with a Biostar tforce6100, you even get 10 bucks off! Plus with that board I was able to easily overclock this thing to 2.2ghz without pushing my system at all. Couldn't be happier.
