Awesome Processor, Extreme Low Power
Pros: This thing can be Clocked @ 2.93 GHz and undervolted to 1.2V to reduce the power consumption like crazy. Also it easily overclocks to 3.2GHz @ 1.32V and to 3.4GHz @ 1.45V.
This is the best processor for playing games and accelerate single threaded applications.
Cons: The high price that one has to pay for the best silicon die.
Other Thoughts: It's the best dual core!!!

Fast but not stable
Pros: Fast clock speeds
Cons: Did not last long
Other Thoughts: For over a year ran fine at 3.1 but now the multiplyer will not run stable past 8 thats 2.238 not 900 buck worth. i dont know what the deal with the conroes are but after a year they lose it

THE PRICE IS AMAZING!!!
Pros: Ok, just look at that price! Its incredible! I mean, seriously, its so cheap. Especially against those really REALLY slow Q6600's that are ONLY clocked at 2.4 Ghz and can be overlcocked to ONLY 3.4 Ghz with a simple bios setting... I mean seriously, its not like the Q6600's are QUAD CORE or anything, and they SURE WON'T BE ABLE TO RUN FUTURE APPS. And just look at those E8400's... they only OC to 4.2 Ghz on STOCK COOLNG. This processor is sure a great deal.. the price and everything!
Cons: There are NO CONS AT ALL! Its just so speedy and I can't find a better price.
Other Thoughts: Frigging ret@rds... this proc $uck$, everyone that bought this was a ret@rd.

Great processor
Pros: Fast Fast Fast, loads programs and OS very quick.I have it overclocked to 3.47 in an Intel D975XBX2 w/coolit freezone and temps average 24-28 degrees depending on ambient temperature.
Cons: I guess price !!!!! and the new batch of quadcores for less money But the same will happens when you buy your new quad now and six months down the road will be newer and faster processors out.
Other Thoughts: I bought mine from newegg.com 2 years ago at the same price and still kicking AXX.You can barely see difference in speed compare to quadcores procs, unless U R running many programs at a time.

Woot Extreme series
Pros: Amazing overclocking abilities. It can take anything you throw at it and almost never get bogged down. I can't say enough good things about it :)
Cons: A little hot, but I'm still running stock cooling. I have it clocked to 3.2ghz with the multiplier, and it idles around 16C for the cpu and 24C for the system. The price was a little high, but very much worth it.
Other Thoughts: To all you people that think the e6850 is a better processor, think again. Nothing compares to overclocking with the CPU multiplier. Nothing. When I started overclocking it with the multiplier (stock 11x) and the mobo said to put in a number between 8 and 50, I knew it would be a good day :)

This thing great! 6 months ago...
Pros: fast, highly overclockable, unlocked multiplier, runs cool
Cons: EXPENSIVE EXPENSIVE EXPENSIVE. If I had known that the e6850 would be released I never would have bought this. It is faster and at almost 1/3 the cost.
Other Thoughts: Do not buy this unless you are an enthusiast who just wants it for the hell of it. You are better off getting an e6850 or heck, just get a quad core.

Works well in TNN-500AF Case
Pros: This has been a great processor for me. I hammer this thing with a lot of 3d rendering and animation. I run it entirely fanless in a Zalman TNN-500AF case. This system is unstoppable.
I have an XFX7950 GTX video card, 4 gigs of corsair dominator memory, a 10k WD raptor drive and a 2ndary Seagate drive. I can simultaneously render a high resolution animation and play world of warcraft without skipping a beat or slowing down.
Cons: None that I have found other than the cost.
Other Thoughts: I think this is a great processor. I purchased all of my components here at NewEgg and despite the 3 day shipping taking a week (par for the course) my purchasing experience has always been great.

Fast
Pros: Great CPU
Cons: PRICE, never would have bought for retail price. Thankful for Intel worker discounts. Also, get rid of that stock Heatsink, it is well worth the money to get a better one.

Great CPU
Pros: Fast
Cons: Expensive
Other Thoughts: Owned for six months now. Using retail heatsink and fan with Asus Striker Extreme motherboard. Haven't tried overclocking/minimal interest in overclocking. Very stable and very fast.

Vista experience
Pros: I finally got the performance I wanted for watching video in Windows Media Center. The sound does not pause and no lost of frames. I opened Windows Media Center to live TV and Halo 2 for Vista. No lost of performance on the TV screen and no lost of performance on the computer monitor with Halo 2.
The Control Panel\Performance Information for Vista processor calculations per second is 5.6. I was surprised I thought it would be 5.9. I’m not a big fan of over clocking CPUs so I don’t know how far you can over clock it.
Cons: Price
Other Thoughts: I have the following hardware for my system.
1) XFX PVT84GUDF3 GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI
2) ABIT Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
3) Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive.
4) CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400
I can't wait to see AMD quad core answer to this CPU. I guess we are at the next generation CPU phase it is not about clock speed anymore. Check out AMD design on Youtube.

AWesome processor
Pros: I tried it out...
Cons: It was for about a day through a friends PC:'(
Other Thoughts: There is a reason for the price. This has got to be by far the smoothest processor on the market. This processor is hella fast AND NO THE E series of processor IS NOT FASTER THAN THIS..>Now adays you can hardly judge a proccesor on how many ghz they have. And just because yours came doa doesn't mean its a bad processor....You shouldve sent it back to newegg and gotten a return or somehting

Faa..faa...FAST
Pros: Fast. Fast. Comes with its own fan and heatsink (thermal paste is already applied to the heat sink).
Cons: The instructions that came with this kinda sucks, there are no words, just pictures. Must be more international for them that way. Price, mucho $$$
Other Thoughts: Be sure you locate the small triangle on the CPU before installing, and be sure the triangle is orient correctly before installing. You are probably going to need your mobo manual before installing this. Don't forget the thermal paste if you are using a different heat sink. Finally, you have to press down on the level fairly hard to get this to lock into place (notice I said lever and not CPU - do NOT press down on this CPU).

Good Chip
Pros: Fast up to the minute speeds. Runs games really well Unlocked for overclocking for the computer guru's here.
Cons: Nothing that i can think of. It's dual core so... She rocks!
Other Thoughts: I recommend this chip to anyone that is looking for an upgrade from 32 bit too 64 bit win xp pro she runs laps around my old AMD Athlon Xp 3200 series.. by far.

To the users below
Pros: -
Cons: -
Other Thoughts: Although the E6850 does have a higher FSB and default clock frequency, the difference is that the X6800 has a default multiplier of 11x. In addition, its clock multiplier is unlocked and that is what you are paying for. Is it worth the 600$ difference? Im not sure.

Best of the Conroes
Pros: XE chips have unlocked multipliers and are cut from the center of the wafer.
Cons: I guess price, but I didn't pay nearly as much as MSRP.
Other Thoughts: I can't recommend this processor at the current insane price point, however if you want the best of the best, this is it.

WAY overpriced
Pros: none
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: You can currently get a core 2 e6850 processor for a third the price of this, AND the e6850 is FASTER (3ghz). So dont make a stupid decision and get this processor, you'd be paying hundreds more than u should.

Pros: To
Cons: The User Below
Other Thoughts: The user below is misinformed. As of right now there is now X6850 Quad Core. He is talking about the E6850 which is a Core 2 Duo not a Quad Core. That’s why it cost a third as much.

Get the 6850 instead
Pros: No one seems to know this here, but the 6850 can be had at a couple of places for 1 third the cost of this chip! I know, I have one sitting on my dining room table right now!:) Now if I could only find the time to put my new rig together:(
Cons: Price

not what i expected
Pros: Well its intel (for thoes who are loyal) it can me OC like mad! it runs cool... thats about it. i have gotten this CPU to 3.9Ghz stable with air cooling. and the FSB on my MSI P35 platinum to 1.654Ghz with the ram at 1033Mhz, this is a stable config. at 67C and 4.23V
Cons: to start i am a AMD fan, i bought this because AMD is not steping up to knock down intel. now in every benchmark i have run and every bench mark i have seen the intel beats amd in many areas in fact the majority of areas. howeaver my AMD FX-60 system runs smoother and with less sparatic CPU rates. its insainly expensive and the Qcore is the same ammount.
Other Thoughts: By smooth i mean this CPU will hang and take some time to respond. i am running DDR2 800 by corsair 4GB paired. MSI P35 platinum. WD 320GB 16MB cache, Vista ultimate. ATI Radeon HD2900XT. my AMD system with all the same hardware (save MB - MSI RD480 neo 2, and DDR 400 4GB kingston) the AMD system runs smoother, takes less power, but can not be OC as much. that being said it does score less on the benchmark but it takes more to over whelm the system. the X6800 gets boged down with alot of programs running, the AMD does not. both boards are running the most recent bios.

SUPER FAST
Pros: Easy to overclock @ 3.67 GHz & default voltage.Watercooled w/coolit freezone temps 24-29 degrees & with a decent V.Card you can play any games you want.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: Quad core may be faster running multiple applications, but right now there is very FEW applications to take advantage of Quadcore processors.

Finally did it!
Pros: Well it's nice, runs all my games great, heats not too bad. Using a Zalman 9700 cooler on it and it hovers around 35-38c during moderate load. I flip flop between Intel and AMD but have always sided with AMD because of their gaming performance. Well I've been waiting for AMD to step up to the plate and knock the ball out of Intels court--but it aint happening from what I hear so had to do with the big dog in town. Not disappointed.
Cons: Price!
Other Thoughts: If you're considering using this with a Gigabyte N680SLI-DQ6 mobo be prepared to have a heck of a time with your heatsink fan. There's a heatsink in the way on the back of the board.

Intel at the top of its game.
Pros: Intel's Conroe Architecture for this CPU is a thing of beauty, 65nm manufacturing Tech means that the core is based off of mobile solutions which means it can't be an energy hog while still providing unparalleled efficiency and power. With the 4MB L2 Cache, this processor can multi-task like no other. Best thing about the 65nm tech means the energy consumption is less which in turn means less heat is generated. In conclusion, that means you can overclock even more!!! I've owned a Pent 3, a Pent 4 (one at 2.4Ghz and one at 3.0Ghz with HT) I've also owned a Pent D 3.0Ghz and most recently a Pent Core 2 Duo Conroe X6700. Of all my processors I would have to say the Conroe beats them all, the Pent D was a major dissapointment because of terrible response times.
Cons: Cutting edge is bleeding edge, as its always been. Only Con I would say is that you could get an Intel Core 2 Duo, Conroe LGA 775 with 4MB shared L2 Cache with a stock clock speed of 2.66Ghz for 1/3 the price.
Other Thoughts: At this time I would not recommend the Extreme core, several reasons would go back to the Conroe x6700 (Same core, just a diff clock speed of 2.66). With the 65nm system architecture, the system is going to run cold which means you can afford to do some overclocking. If you're seriously contemplating buying this chip than most likely you've purchased a new Mobo that allows you easy access to the system clocks and FSB (possibly the core multiplier too?). Any of these would be suitable to overclock. Main diff of the Extreme X6800 Vs the X6700: The X6700 has a stock Multiplier of 10, the Extreme comes stock with a multiplier of 11. It took me 5 minutes to change my system multiplier increasing my processor's power to the equivalent of this one at 1/3 the cost.

I love this CPU!
Pros: This is the fastest CPU I have ever owned or used or seen anywhere. (I don't about the quad core, I bought this before that one was available.) I have it on a ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe mobo. My system screams.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: IMO it gets hot. I'm used to my AMD 64bit. I'm not over clocking and I see temps around 40-50 C. That is not outrageous but it's too hot for me. I am putting on the super cool looking ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm instead of the intel heat sink. Also you need a high watt PSU (I have 700W)and the right mobo.

The Best of the Best
Pros: Best processor on the market right now at stock speeds other then the quad cores. Absolutely amazing.
Cons: You can pay one fifth of the price and buy an E4300 with a good cooling system and overclock that to be better than this Extreme at its stock speed.
Other Thoughts: To the guy under this review that says AMD sucks, I have two words: Pentium 4. Horrible processor when it comes to efficiency. This is Intel's first time back on top IMO since the Pentium 3, which was a savage little chip. That's why I am such a big fan of the Pentium M, which is based off of P3 architecture. AMD lovers, Intel lovers... why can't we all just get along?

Complete Anihilation
Pros: This thing totally blows that chip from the other company i was playing games on away. Screw anyone that uses AMD this thing is totally savage.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Anyone that uses AMD....its not April Fools Day. Intel has always been the best since day one. There is no other chip like it and never will be. Even the 3.2 ghz P4 Prescott with the right cooling totally kicks the other companies offerings. AMD has always sucked and they will never be on Intels level. All the reviews saying AMD was better were totally fake and a bunch of garbage. Anyone that says AMD is better is garbage because i got benches that show AMD gets kicked in just about everything. When you disable HT on the P4 it totally blows AMD away in gaming and when you enable HT it totally blows AMD away in....well...everything else. BTW...even though i sound like a fan boy I own this chip and i think its faster than anything Intel has put out.....just kidding. This is the kind of garbage i hear from uptight fanboys everyday. I do have to admit Intels offerings are actually good and AMD's offerings are still good too. I really don't have a preference.

Where's the beef!
Pros: RIGHT HERE YEAH! one prime cut. I've been running this thing since it was released to the public. I paid way to much for it almost double the selling price now. I have no regrets. I freaking love this chip. It has reduced time in every application I use. auto cad by about 20% no more hangs waiting for layers. Video editing is about 20% faster than my Pentium D 840 machine. I would recommend this chip to all the fortunate that can afford it. and to all that can't there's always credit cards a minimum payments.
Cons: Zipo-nada-none oooh! wait it doesn't have quad cores. I would buy the quad now it's the same price.
Other Thoughts: I would be patient 45nm is right around the corner. and their going to blow the doors off these chips the reviews have been great. 3rd quarter this year. Hopefully the end of July.

Better than quad IMO
Pros: Fastest overall processor hands down. Unlocked multipliers and MUCH LESS power consumption than the quad processor with its conroe design. Played STALKER with 4 downloads and a virus scan in the background with NO HICCUP running on only 40% of its cpu usage. This thing laughs at me!
Cons: I would say price, but I bought this for half the price. :)
Other Thoughts: Even with quad core, I weighed the options down and stuck it out with this one. One of the reasons I didn't get the quad was for its un-native design. I'll either wait for AMD's quad core or wait for intels native multi cores.

Incredible CPU
Pros: Best Intel I've Ever used, even at base line it's still acceptable.
Cons: I killed it...
Other Thoughts: I Recently Upgraded from this to the AMD Quad FX platform. I tried for a little while to sell it and my modded Asus mobo, but no one would take it so I figured, what the heck, lets see what it's made of. So I rigged up a system, and got everything going, time to over clock where no CPU has gone Before. Since my mobo is modded to allow limitless overclocking possibilities, I went ahead and pushed it all the way to 10ghz. It ran fine for about ten minutes before things started to fry and melt and eventually explode. If you have the means to do so, it'll do almost anything you could ever want it to.

Pros: Just like they say it's THE BEST out there right now ! Awesome!
Cons: I'ts BIG so you might need a full tower to install it ..I have one and its a tight fit ...
Other Thoughts: 45 days ago I bought a 32" flat screen (HYUNDAI) The remote stopped working and they wanted me to pay $58.00 for a new one..Didn't do it and found out it was the remote sensor in the tv.They won't help me with it..Their Customer service is the worst I've ever had to deal with and I can't give the web site but this company has 339 bad reviews on their customer service My advice is to check out the other fine Products that Newegg offers..Like always nobody beats newegg on prices or customer service

This thing ROCKS!
Pros: This thing absolutely kicks a*s! I have it overclocked to 3.9GHz on air cooling! It is pricey, but it lays the smack down on other CPU's! Intel, welcome back to the "Top of the mountain" again! I left you for AMD's x2 4800+, but now I am back!
Cons: Price. Doesn't shovel snow...
Other Thoughts: Running this with: Tuniq Tower-120 (w/96CFM fan) Asus Striker Extreme motherboard 2GB Corsair Dominator DDR2-1142 PC2-9136 sticks TT Armor case with 250mm Side panel fan and 4-120mm Thermaltake A2018 96CFM case fans and 1-92mm Thermaltake A2017 79CFM case fan 3-250GB WD Caviar SE16 16MB cache drives in a RAID0 config.

Great Processor
Pros: This processor is fast! Overclocking is very easy on it especially with the unlocked multiplier. Being a Core 2 it runs fairly cool (35 idle, 45ish max under a good load). I believe it when Intel says this is the fastest processor on the planet. Worked great the first time!
Cons: Stock heatsink looks less than capable. I didn't even bother with it because I didn't want to have to scrape thermal paste from the processor if I needed to replace it. Also of course the almost $1,000 price tag is well worth it.
Other Thoughts: Coupled this with an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 pro heatsink/fan and an Intel BLKD975XBX2KR Mobo and worked great the first time!

ended up smashing my head through a car windshield
Pros: OK -- first off, its fantastic, I love it. I had an opteron 170 @ 2.6ghz and thought wow I'm not going to get anything faster then this for a while and then bam, bought an X6800 and hit 3.5ghz, is is more then 50% faster then opty. But then I bought an e6300 based on other reviews...
Cons: The E6300 overclocked to 3.85ghz stable on a Scythe Infinity with a 2,200 FSB. Yea, thats right, 2,200 FSB. I sold the X6800 as quickly as I could and smashed my head through a car winshield and bowed my head in shame for not reseaching sooner. Bought 2gb GSkill DDR2-800, bam 2.55V gets me a 1100mhz over clock @ 4-4-4-4 for friggen 280 bucks. Can we say, 500 bucks for 3.85ghz c2d, 2,200 fsb, and 1.1 ghz 4-4-4-4 2gb of ram? Whaaa? WHERE AM I? WHO ARE YOU?
Other Thoughts: The E6300 @ 200 put this 1000 dollar CPU to shame...screw the 2mb l2 cache, its like 1-3% performance increase if that on all apps, its the same thing period!! Although the e6300 clocked higher for some reason...newer batch? OH yea, did I mention 2,200 fsb? LOL ahhh hahhahahah ahahhah

Get what you pay for
Pros: This is probably the best desktop processor you can get at the moment and you will definetly not regret your decision to buy one as long as you have the money to buy it. It runs everything extremely fast and just about everything you think a 1k processor should do.
Cons: Stock fan and heatsink are ok at best. Throw away 40 more and get a better heatsink/fan.
Other Thoughts: The guy below me doesnt know what he's talking about quad cores arent being fully utilized and dual-core is more efficient as of right now. If your a gamer of sorts then stick with dual-core as quad just doesn't mean your going to have those extra two processors for the game.

y have 2 when 4 costs just as much?
Pros: architecture
Cons: price/performance
Other Thoughts: y would anyone spend this kind of money when you could spend $XX more and have a quad core??? most mobos that support this chip also support the quad core. i don't own this chip, but if i spent this kind of money on a cpu i would go with the quad core hands down.

Is the price really worth the performance?
Pros: Fast, fast, fast chip that overclocks very well. My B2 revision stays cool and well under the specs from Intel, < 61C, when overclocked to 3.7 GHz at stock voltage.
Cons: Tough buy when compared to E6700 at nearly $500 more. It's nice being the top of the food chain, but the price/performance is clearly in the E6700 chip. Intel needs to improve the cooling fan design. Copper could really improve the performance of the fan.
Other Thoughts: Best Intel processor I've used in the last 5-6 years. I built a new workstation computer around this chip and I couldn't be happier with the performance. Intel has a winner with this new line.

Fast Chip - Mine is defective?
Pros: Very Fast. Unlocked multiplier makes OCing easy.
Cons: Price.
Other Thoughts: My chip is giving strange core temp readings in TAT. Core 1 is +5 to +10 degrees warmer than core 2. I have had some trouble getting this chip to remain stable at anything but stock clocks.
I know it is a better chip than my e6600 but I can't get it to perform as well. It's like having a Ferarri that won't go past 2nd gear.

Asus fans be careful.
Pros: Its a great chip. Faster but not a lot faster then the x6700 chip. I have built about 5 systems with the x6700.
Cons: In hind sight I would have saved my money and bought the x6700. Not enough performance increase in this chip. Watch out for the ASUS motherboards on this one. I have tried 4 motherboards from the p5 series... sli deluxe, premium. Most of witch needed to have the bios flashed to the new versions to even post. Only one ever actually worked with this chip but not that well. Was not memory or OS problems. I switched to an intel motherboard and magically the same hardware worked with great performance and stability.
Other Thoughts: I would stick with intel motherboards with this chip. Compatibility and performance is much better. Ever since i build machine with this chip I use only intel boards. Perhaps ASUS has dropped the ball. Maybe they just got a bad shippment of chips in for their motherboards... who knows

On second thought...
Pros: Re-post
Cons: Re-post
Other Thoughts: My previous post about FX-60 equivalence was totally wrong. For some reason the BIOS clocked the CPU down to 2.1 GHz. After fixing the multiplier, this cpu rocks. So, the 6800 is slightly better than the FX-60 when underclocked to 2.1 GHz. Amazing.

Not what I expected
Pros: Fast, low power requirements, dual core.
Cons: Not as fast as I thought it would be. 3DMark06 is about the same as my FX-60 system. WAY expensive.
Other Thoughts: I replaced my fx-60/asus a8n32-sli deluxe system with the core 2 extreme 6800/evga 680i combination. Well, the new system only scored 300 more sysmarks in 3dmark06 than the fx-60 system. This is with (2) 8800gtx in sli. What a disappointment. I wish I could get my money back...

1 month review
Pros: Depending on where you've come from, you'll notice the speed/power difference. My Photoshop now starts up as quickly as my Firefox did on my old system, and Firefox now opens as quickly as IE. No benchmarks, but I can see a significant difference. This is perfect for the non-overclockers.
Cons: Cost, almost similiar to the Quad's price.
Other Thoughts: Others push the 6600 due to it's clocking capabilities and cost, but for those that don't want to risk it or don't wish to get technical, this is for you. I have this on the P5B Deluxe with the Zalman CNPS9500AT, no issues. 26C-idle, 35C-harsh load, in a room ambience of 18-19C (66F).

Amazing
Pros: It came on a golden chariot with white horses, and everything. Apparently this is rare family heirloom given to only prince intel's.
Cons: I would so say price but i paid 650 Bones brand new!
None BUY IT.
Other Thoughts: It can handle my 8800gtx in sli like a champ...and its Oc'ing capabilities?

Excellent!
Pros: Fast, reliable and cool-running (even using the stock Intel fan). The performance of this processor is everything that you've heard. It makes every computer operation quicker, even rather mundane tasks - the enhanced performance is noticeable as one would expect.
Cons: It costs a lot and the price has dropped only a bit (but not that much) since its initial release. You must be CAREFUL when you seat this chip. It is the only one that I have had where you can install it carefully and still have some pins not make contact (which probably accounts for some reports of DOA chips that will not POST). I have never had this problem with any other chip (and have built quite a few systems). If you push the chip to the lower right hand corner of the socket (I/O shield to your left), then it will seat properly. If you center it, it may or may not work. I can't believe that a chip of this price can have such poor tolerance issues (I am using INTEL boards, too)! If your machine does not POST, then try repositioning the chip as I have indicated - it worked for me.
Other Thoughts: I have built two systems using this processor. One installation was flawless but the other had problems with the chip not seating properly. Hey, but once it is in and running, then you will be pleased. 40-42oC at idle and around 57oC at fairly high load, with the STOCK HSF.

Running like crazy for 3 weeks now
Pros: Phenomenal performance and value – one QX6700 is better than two E6700s, runs cool, quiet (retail fan OK), and saved my rear on a big project
Cons: If your apps are not intelligently multi-threaded, you’ll be wasting a core or two – not cheap… well, yeahhhh
Other Thoughts: I do 3D Animation and 2D Compositing, the 4 cores were running solid 100% in 3DS MAX (MentalRay and ScanLine) while After Effects only took advantage of 2-3 most of the time. But I could run both MAX and AE without a hitch. Even while rendering I could watch some QuickTimes in HD with only an occasional stutter.
It’s been a while since I purchased a killer machine – my last was a dual CPU Xeon 3.4 and this new machine is measurably 3 times faster, AND was ½ the price to build… makes me sick. Don’t hesitate – the value of the quad-core EE overwhelms the dual-core EE at only $15 more.

Overclocked
Pros: It has open multipliers therefore it overclocks verry well!! This is the one unless you want the quad. I would go with ths one there the same price for a reason money talks haha.
Cons: This bad mother does everything I need it to except play crysis because well its not out yet.
Other Thoughts: Overclocked to 3.3 FSB at 1079 Memory at 900

Great Chip
Pros: This was a big upgrade for me, and to see my games run so smooth and so beautifully makes me love this cpu even more. All of my settings are cranked to the top with this thing and it's not even choking. F.E.A.R., UT04, HL2 all run very well!!
Cons: The price is very close to what you'd pay for the quad core, so if you have a little bit more $$, save up for that instead. Also, the stock fan for this thing will not suffice. Getting an after market cooler is the only way to keep this thing from running a high fever.
Other Thoughts: I think I'm going to stick with this one for a long time and see where it'll take me. Being able to work in 3D apps and playing games has never been smoother with this processor.

Screamin'!
Pros: I love this processor. I have it overclocked at 3.46 Ghz and it's running at 22C which is about 70F. Mobo is running about 10 degrees hotter than cpu, but is to be expected.
Cons: Prohibitively expensive, as is the qx6700.
Other Thoughts: Worth it if you have some extra cash floating around somewhere. I'm probably going to upgrade to the qx6700 very soon. I'm just a little miffed that I'm going to have to buy a new mobo as well.

Should Be Cheaper
Pros: Unlocked Multipler,overclocks alrigt
Cons: Too high ,you can buy the Quad almost the same price and have more performance
Other Thoughts: The only thing good about this CPU is that it has a unlocked multipler,You can get the Core 2 Duo E6600 for one third of the price and get just about the same overclocks unless you are useing water or something colder ,The E6600 will do 3.6gigs at 1.32v or the one I have does ,I have seen plenty of them do 3.6gigs with mild voltage increase.I can run 3.8gigs at 1.5v but it runs to hot with just a Heatsink Fan cooler.

Pure Performance
Pros: Everything i throw at it (EQ2, FFXI, SQL queries, etc) run flawlessly.
Cons: Price is a bit high, but for the performance it was well worth it in my book.
Other Thoughts: I opted away from the stock cooler and paired this monster with the Thermaltake CL-P0310 (also from newegg). Has NO trouble keeping it cool during stressful processing.

worth it
Pros: This is a great cpu. I have been able to clock it as high as 3.8, but i run it steady at 3.6. I paid more than 100.00 more when i bought it. if you get a good stepping, you might be able to hit 4MHz
Cons: can get hot when you start upping the vcore. need good aftermarket cooling for this monster. Price could be better.
Other Thoughts: if you have the money to spend, dont hesitate, it's worth the price.

Superb CPU
Pros: This CPU can really deliver the performance you want. Applications open at lightning speed and games (paired with the right graphics card) can be ran effortlessly on the highest resolutions.
Cons: Little pricey, but very well worth it. Would be nice to take away the paranoia of burning it out without using a water cooler.
Other Thoughts: The Cooler Master RR-CCB-WLU1-GP keeps this bad boy at optimal temperatures. Had no problems on my BIOSTAR TF680i nForce motherboard.

Great CPU
Pros: It will run what ever you throw at it. It opens things like a book. NP's with any app I own or use daily. Renders my vids in lightning speeds.
Cons: COST! Still high but worth it. Do not buy the Quad unless your company pays for it.
Other Thoughts: Runs great in a ASUS P5B Deluxe w/WIFI. Zalman 2 Water Cooler. No prob with temps or anything else for that matter.

King of the hill!!
Pros: Awesome processor! I debated on getting this or the monster QX6700. I went with this one because it actually performs faster with most everyday applications and games. If you don’t believe it go to Tom’s Hardware and check out the benchmarks for yourself. This thing is smoking fast and I easily OC’d to 3.47 GHz without raising the temperature. With a Zalman HSF I’m running rock steady at 34° C and can’t get it out of the thirties no matter what I throw at it. If you want the fastest overall computer this processor can’t be beat. If you do a lot of 3D Studio work and can afford it get the QX6700.
Cons: None

This things screams
Pros: I didn't clock how long it took me to install Media Center on my new build but it was by far the fastest install I have ever experienced.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Some complain about prices but its worth every penny of the cost. I cant comment on the performance of stock cooler, what I can say is that it looks rather nice and the heat sink is the largest stock heat sink I have ever seen. I now wonder if I should have not invested in the Thermaltake BigTypoon. For future buyers, try out the stock cooker first and make sure this is satisfactory before upgrading to a Thermaltake (unless of course you want to have the freedom of over-clocking in the future.)
Other Thoughts: Just finished my latest build. Evga 122-ck-nf68; asus 8800gtx; 150gb raptor; 2GB RAM running at 800 MHz; this CPU, and 2*{WD Caviar 500GB}. I got everything from Newegg except the old case and PSU. So far, I have put the processor under some mid to high ranged multitasking demands such as transferring files over from my old HD's as well as installing software and downloading updated drivers. I am into multimedia, so I have slightly under a TB of movies, games, DVR recordings, etc. So transferring all this information to my new HD's would have been an all-night ordeal for my old 2.6GHz P-4, but the Core 2 Extreme just burns through this multitasking like it is nothing. I love it. I have not played any games yet though. Lately, I have been playing Oblivion so it will be nice to see how this new rig screams through Oblivions graphics. I am sure that is when this x6800 will start to shine.

Fast expensive CPU
Pros: Fast, easy to install, stable. What more do you want? I know, cheaper.
Cons: Packaged without thermal grease for mounting cooling fan, but you’ll probably want a third party CPU cooling fan anyway.
Other Thoughts: System configuration: Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 MoBo, Intel Core 2 X6800 CPU, Gigabyte GH-PDU21-SC CPU cooler, 2Gb Kingston DDR2 800 SDRAM, BFG GeForce nVidia 7950 512Mb Video card, Creative SB Audigy2 ZS Platinum audio, 4 WD 74Gb 10K RPM SATA HDDs in 2 RAID 1 sets, 2 WD 250Gb 7200 RPM SATA HDDs in RAID 1, 2 Pioneer 16X DVD±RW optical, Thermaltake W0116RU 750W PS, in an Antec P180 case. … Newegg is great!!!

Awesome Processor
Pros: Very fast went from a old Pent 4 3.2 northwood to the X6800 very happy easy to install.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I was looking at getting the QX6700 but went with the dual core. Also have the Monsoon II keeps this cpu cool.

Pros: An AMAZINGLY FAST and EFFICIENT processor! I had a VERY DIFFICULT TIME choosing between this and the quad-version, choosing this one over the quad for one reason alone, NOISE! The quad dissapates nearly TWICE the amount of wattage and heat as that of the dual-core, which means that you've gotta COOL it somehow, and that means a WHOLE LOT MORE FAN NOISE!
Cons: I have NO complaints! It's a GREAT processor that handles moderate overclocking without a problem, even with the stock cooling fan assembly! What more could one ask for? This is truly an amazingly FAST processor!
Other Thoughts: water-cooling? Are you kidding? For as much as I've spent, I'm not letting any liquids get within 20' of my rig!

kicking but & taking names
Pros: where do i start. this processor just kicks but up and down the court. especially when overclocked.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: search google for x6800 forums and you'll see what i'm talking about. i've gotten this to 4.0 on liquid cooling

Massively fast. Massively priced.
Pros: This is an insanely fast processor. Every with it's Extreme Edition overpricing it's not a bad deal for a processor that can be overclocked to 5ghz with some extreme cooling and volt modding. Or 4ghz with slightly less extreme cooling and volt modding.
Cons: Not really worth it's hefty price tag without the extreme cooling. The E6700 (2.66ghz) can easily be overclocked to 2.93ghz at a little over half the price of this bad-boy.

Wow--Smokes_AMD
Pros: No OC's and running stock this baby smoked my FX60, I had been a die hard AMD customer with 5 Custom built PC's. Sorry AMD, just made the switch to Intel after running tests with this Core.
Cons: I cannot afford to buy one for everyone else.

intel has the crown
Pros: Very fast at stock speeds incredible reaction time in programs boots xp 12 secs faster than my previous setup runs cooler at about 29c with stock cooler.
Cons: the fsb is fast but i wanted to take it to 1133 and wouldnt post at those speeds but other than that its great.
Other Thoughts: I have the swiftech h20-120 premimum for this proc and it allowed me to overclock to 3.53Ghz and not go over 35c on FULL LOAD. BEST CPU IN D WORLD
Pros: Super Fast, loved the 4MB shared L2 cache & very low voltage 1.18.Great overclocker.Runs stable to 3.75GHZ Water-cooled with the right Mobo & Ram combination.Worth every penny.BUY IT FROM NEWEGG>COM.People who complained about this cpu it's because they don't owned or can't afford it.If you got the $$$$ go for it U won't be dissappointed. BELIEVE ME !!!!!!!!!!
Cons: The price $$$ drop very quickly right after I bought it.
Other Thoughts: I have it cooled with a water cooled kit from Coolit freezone. It's xpensive but runs it @ 2.93GHZ 23-24 degrees and overclock @ 3.73GHZ 36-39 degrees max.You can go higher but it won't be stable.I have it w/Intel D975XBX - 2G Patriot DDR2 800LLK kit-Dual raptors 150G and Crossfire(2)X1900XTX. NEWEGG.COM delivered 2 days before the expected day of arrival, Now that's what I call EGG-XELLENT customer service.

Just u wait
Pros: Faster than anything at present faster than the FX 62
Cons: Remake of the Athlon arcitecture kinda ironic given Intell is always saying AMD is copying them but this thing has basicaly the same pipline length as the athlons, thats why they are faster than the p4 at a lower clock speed.
If u want an good gaming maching go with this. If u want the best gaming machine on the planet wait till december and spend the same for 2 fx 74's that will blow this thing away by bout 30-50% it has a 90% increase in performance over the fx62 in 3dmark.
Other Thoughts: benchmarks tell all, dont just go for the fastes Ghz
Im waiting for 2 fx74 and ill smoke this cpu by another 50%
4x4 all the way.

asus p5n32 se deluxe !!!
Pros: Hopefully this will clear up issues about the p5n32 MB. I did alot of reading and research and this board does support sli at 16x. Maybe you guys got a different MB. I just purchased this board today.
Cons: None that I know of yet havent recieved board. But I will be updating when I recieve it. Also everything listed below will be ordered thru the Egg except for motherboard as it was not in stock but I found it cheaper elsewheres but they pretty much cheaper on everything else.
Other Thoughts: Im fixing to build a system w/ above mentioned MB, case-Thermaltake armor, PS-Thermaltake 700 watt, CPU-core 2 6800, 2 GB ballistix ram, Video-2 7950 GT's, Hard Drv-2 320 GB's ran in raid 0 w/ 1- 320 for storage and such.

For true.
Pros: Faster than a cheetah taking down a fat kid. Overclocks very well. I've thrown games and a lot of video rendering at this thing and all it does is laugh and come up with 'your momma' jokes like it's just killing time doing your tasks.
Cons: Price, crazy stock fan that is both loud AND obnoxious.
Other Thoughts: I replaced the stock fan with a Thermaltake Bigwater 735 and it's much more quiet. It didn't heat up too much with a basic config but if you like to tweak it does get hot.
Does not in fact talk about anyone's mom but will EASILY outperform anything she could do on any other processor.

Intel X6800 CPU
Pros: OK I admit that I was skeptical of all of the talks on the CPU until I got it! It won me over!

The Bomb CPU
Pros: I used to rip DVD video depositions at 25 to 30 frames per second with a P4 3.06Ghz. The Core 2 Duo X6800 rips videos from DVD depostions at 70 to 75 frames per second. I have never seen such a dramatic jump in CPU performance. This thing decreased my video editing production time three-fold. I can now render videos in minutes instead of hours over and over until I have a final product. And, the CPU runs extremely cool.
Cons: Price, but who cares. This thing flies.
Other Thoughts: What are you waiting for? If you are smart, you will get with this.

Faster than a speeding bullet
Pros: This cpu is "off-the-hook". It performs any task VERY fast, applications, games, internet etc. I installed it in my new ASUS P5W DH Deluxe mobo with TWIN2x2048-6400 RAM and ATI X1900XT and it fired-up the first time with no problems.
Cons: Price, but it is the Roles Royce of CPUs.

Best processor around
Pros: This processor is the best processor on the market!
Cons: Bit expensive, but the best is the best.
Other Thoughts: Whoever said below that its comparable to a AMD X2 5000, is completely wrong! You only need to check the benchmarks on say, tomshardware to know this.
The Extreme will do things so much faster than the 5000 or even FX-62, beating the FX62 sometimes by minutes!! This baby won 62 out of 64 benchmarks on tomshardware.

Awesome
Pros: Thing runs awesome and i love it! Overclocks well, just don't be skimpy on the board ;)
Cons: Price... but you get what you pay for =D
Other Thoughts: The X6800 remains on top of all CPUs, even AMD's FX 62 (which is better than the X2 5000+.) At least until the Intel Quads =DD

Smoke N Fire
Pros: I packed up my AMD shop and moved to Intel. Coming from a FX-62 to this was noticeable in application load times AND in games. Matched with a pair of TWINX2048-6400C3’s this setup rocks.
Cons: I sold my children to pay for it.
Other Thoughts: Who needs a Quad core when you can have this now.

Intel X6800 Conroe vs. AMD X2 5000 Windsor
Pros: Absolutely beautiful in design and engineering. Very fast, dual core, what else can you say.... nothing really, but we can dream about quad core in the next few months can't we.... Yummy.
Cons: Price, Price, Price. In comparing the Intel X6800 vs the AMD X2 5000+, they are very similar in performance, although Intel wins by a slim margin, but at a cost of $xxx more. For an additional 400 bucks, you would hope that it would be twice as fast, but its not even close to that. Intel needs to put Hyperthreading on this bad-boy and really get things heated up. Price not justifiable compared to excessive cost, especially when compared with the near identical performance of the AMD variant.
Other Thoughts: Wait for Quad Core, it will be out in less than half a year!

A Good Processor
Pros: Like I said in my previous review it is a good processor! But I stand by my remarks as I see them. For those that think that they are smart and psychic, both the Pentium 955+ 3.46 Extreme processor and the Intel Core 2 Extreme are both installed on new ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboards and new CORSAIR XMS2 RAM. Now If you go by benchmarks alone the Intel Core 2 Extreme does out perform the Pentium 955+ 3.46 Extreme processor, but benchmarks register things the human eye can’t process and my point is my experience with both processors in the same room on identical NEW hardware and software platforms, the Intel Core 2 Extreme does out perform the Pentium 955+ 3.46 Extreme processor, but I can only notice a small advantage and when you are dealing with customer satisfaction the user experience, observations, and opinions are more important than benchmarks or failed psychic abilities.
Cons: I expected more.

for mike, 2 reviews below
Pros: mike... you're not so smart are you? you said you're running this processor on the same mb/memory/vid.card config - well of course you're not going get a lot of improvement from the new processor when you're running it with old hardware.
this processor has a completely different microarchitecture than your 955 processor. i'm not sure how technical savvy you are (not too much from what I can see) but you should upgrade your memory and mb to see the difference. good luck!
this processor rocks the house... AMD is eating Intel dust
Cons: NONE!

only a Little Faster than 955Xtreme Edition?
Pros: i dont want to offend the reviewer before me, all i want to say is that this processor litterally smokes 955x, i have compared my results to 955x, i dont know what ur problem could, but i am sorry to tell u that intel has done their job right this time. this processor blows anything on stock speed, and on 3.6 it smokes anything out there.
Cons: absolutly none
Other Thoughts: 955x was beaten by athlons easily, this is core2, 30-50% faster than the highest athlon, this cpu is fast and i dont know why u would say intel needs to work on their processor.

Good Processor
Pros: It is a good processor and seems to run graphic intensive applications and games a little better than my Pentium Extreme Edition 955+, 3.46GHz.
Cons: After reading all of the reviews I expected more. Like I said above it seems to run graphic intensive applications and games a little better than my Pentium Extreme Edition 955+, 3.46GHz. When I say a little I mean I can notice it but it is not impressive. And My Pentium Extreme Edition 955+, 3.46GHz out performs it on multitasking. I have both processors with identical Motherboards, RAM, and video cards in the same room and that is why I can defiantly identify which one does better with the same tasks.
Other Thoughts: You may what to wait until Intel makes more improvements on this processor.

Faster than the others!
Pros: So far so Good! Best running PC I ever built! I have the CPU installed in an ASUS P5N32-SLI SE nForce4 SLI X16 mobo with a BigWater Liquid Cooling system and the CPU never reaches over 37 C (98.6 F) at idle, and never over 47 C (116.6 F) on heavy a process. - (ambient air temp = 22.2 C (72 F)) .
Recently, I had the same exact setup but with a FX 62 and an ASUS M2N32-SLI nForce 590 mobo, and the INTEL setup out-performs without question :)
Cons: None So far...... But, I only have one Video card, so I haven't tried the SLI configuration yet...
Other Thoughts: Hmmm... Current System Specs: -Core 2 Extreme X6800 -P5N32-SLI SE nForce4 SLIx16 -Bigwater SE Liquid Cooling -2GB Corsair TWIN2X2048 6400C4PRO -10K RPM Raptor -PhysX Card -GeForce 7950GX2. ________________________________ Tested following games with no hiccups:
