Excellent Mid Level Choice
Pros: Fast, easy to overclock.
Cons: Still expensive for a processor that has been on the market since 2006.
Other Thoughts: I paired this processor with an EVGA 680i MB, 2 7900 GT cards, and Corsair ram. I am writing this review because I saw so many reviews wished they purchased the Quad core version. To be honest, the Quad core is a slower processor (check out Tom's Hardware if you don't beleive me). The reason why Quad cores are so much slower is that the front side bus is too slow to support four processors. You can have two cores running at 533 MHZ each, or you can have four cores running at 333.25 MHZ each. You won't notice a difference in games that only support one or two cores, until some programs start running in the background like virus scan or firewall software, then your system slows down to speeds of the old Intel (think of Pentium 4 Prescotts). Until motherboards have 2.0 GHZ FSB dual cores will be faster than quad cores.

Great
Pros: Great CPU. When I bought it a a year ago the stock speed was great. Heck, even now it is a good gaming CPU. I am over clocking it now, it does a great job of that even with the stock heat sink.
Cons: A year ago: Nothing. Now: Price. The Q6600 isn't much more money than this and it's the quad core version so I would get that if I were building my rig this year.
Other Thoughts: If you're a gamer this is a great CPU for the price and performance. It over clocks great so you can increase the speed as well. You can't go wrong with this, but the Q6600 is where it's at now.

C2D for Life
Pros: The Processor is fast for the money, dual core is the way to go for gaming as of right now. there are no games at the moment that i know of that use quad core. this processor handles any game or program i throw at it. Im sure the quad cores are better for video editing, and im sure in the future games will be geared towards quad core processors.
Cons: its not free ( Hey we all can dream )

e6600 rocks
Pros: Got it in 07 July. OC'ed it in 07 December. Running at 3.3 Ghz at default voltages (just fsb raise) with no problems since i oced it. Running very cool with tuniq tower 120 cooler set to max and antec 900 case set to max.
Cons: none

Great CPU
Pros: Fast CPU. i went from a Intel P4 2.8Ghz HT.. to this (E6600), and what a difference..
Cons: runs hot, 45-50c at idle, and 60-65c under gaming load. after buying some OCZ Ultra Thermal Paste, it runs very cool.
Other Thoughts: I would suggest buying some good Thermal Paste, to use with this CPU. the stock fan has paste on it but, its very thin, and not a great quality. if you buy this CPU make sure you buy OCZ Ultra Thermal Paste at the sametime. after cleaning off the stock thermal paste and adding the OCZ, my cpu when from 45-50c at idle, to 12-18c at idle. after a yr of the OCZ paste, being on there the temp has gone up some. now it idles around 20-23c

It was the best at the time
Pros: The processor was the best at the time when I got it. It was very good, but Vista was made for better and faster things that were inexistent when I bought it.
Cons: I should have waited for it's quad-core predecessor.
Other Thoughts: It is still very useful for many applications today.

E6600 Pwnt!
Pros: Overclocked to 3.4GHz and still going. Max temps on a 9700 Zalman are 50°C (gaming). Lowest temps are 42 (idle or surfing the web). Runs Gears of War, UT3, COD4 almost flawless. I am truly impressed, but i will be upgrading to a Q6700 for another monster machine year. The price was about the same when i purchased mine...if that says anything. Less heat than Quads too!!
Cons: Not a Quad core...
Other Thoughts: D975XBX2, 3.4GHz E6600, EVGA 8800GT, 9700 Zalman CPU Cooler, NZXT Zero Case, Sony 16x Dual Layer Burner, 2x500GB WD HD, 600W Thermaltake PSU

Pros: Upgraded from single core 2.4 GHz, difference in speed is night and day.
Cons: Unless I use BIOS to overclock this processor, windows shows it only running at 2.3 GHz. Can overclock up to about 2.6 GHz with supplied CPU fan, but would probably need water cooler to push it any higher.

Pros: 4M Cache, 1066 FSB, Dual Core
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: This was at a great price point when I got this, and it's still a very good processor if you don't need quad core (and if you're not sure you do, you probably don't). Glad I got the 4M cache version over other 2M versions.

Great Buy
Pros: Fast, reliable, and no problems.
Cons: Runs a bit hot.
Other Thoughts: I've had this processor since September 2006. I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. I will admit I bought mostly AMD prior to Intel's Core 2 Duo, but if the quality of their Quad-cores is anything close to this, I'll be more than happy to purchase it.
The processor does run a bit hot (60C when under normal load), but I only have the stock fan & stock heatsink. Regardless, it's run intensive CPU applications (such as Fritz chess engine) without ever throttling.
Bottom line, if you're considering this product for a budget-build today, don't hesitate!

I Cant Believe Its Not Butter
Pros: This is the longest lasting part in my computer. I purchased this near its release date (about 2 years) and it's still chunking along. I could not be happier with this processor. I have had this processor on dry ice sitting at 4.725ghz, which is the limit of my mobo (525fsb), not the E6600. I once left my pump unplugged for a day (accidentally of course) and it survived a full day at 90c. I currently have it sitting at 3.9 / 34c stable! It has been through a lot and still posts up 3500 3Dmark06 CPU score. Blamo
Cons: It is time to upgrade and I am worried that 45nm will not put up with serious abuse. Maybe I will go phase change, or get stupid with pelts to keep 45nm under control.
Other Thoughts: I do know one thing, my E6600 will be a nice candidate for a suicide run. System: E6600, P5N32-E-SLI, Danger Den liquid, 2g-Corsair CAS4, 2-9600GT's, 17K 3Dmark06

Solid Processor.
Pros: I bought this processor back in July 2007 for a brand new computer rig. I haven't overclocked it and it has performed excellent over the last half-year.
Cons: This is $40 more expensive than the E6850 which is 600 MHZ higher clock speed.
Other Thoughts: Should of bought a Quad Core instead.

Why Change Horses?
Pros: E6600 serves me well...and I work it hard. It is NOT overclocked...the Laws of Thermodynamics say that you can't get something for nothing. I'd buy another in a heartbeat, even with the new pricing on some of the Intel chips. Runs cool. I consistently run 30-32C at idle, and I have never seen a temp over 54C at max load (running 3DMark). I don't know what you folks are doing that are reporting 50-60C idle temps, but perhaps you might consider boning up on how to install a heat sink/fan. Contrary to popular belief, Intel engineers don't sit around plotting and scheming how to make a bad product just to tick people off.
Cons: Really, there aren't any. An aftermarket heatsink/fan is a nice option if you are real persnickety about temps. It isn't the fastest or most powerful chip, but I'll be darned if I can find something that bogs it down...BTW, I am talking about real work, not playing Crysis at ludicrous speed.
Other Thoughts: With the lowered prices, I was considering buying either an E8500, E6850, or Q6700...but then I figured...WHY? Where is the R.O.I., even at these low prices. Do I want to drop some benjies and go through an uninstall/install, etc? For an additional .22 a 4-cores, or for basically the same chip I have with higher clock speed? The answer is NO! Buy this chip or an E6850...you won't regret it...and, if you really "need" 4-cores, get the deep discounted Q6700.

Fantastic CPU
Pros: Overclocks like a madman. 3.2ghz stable with iffy Shuttle aircooling. 33C idle, mid-50s under load.
Cons: The PC world is starting to pass it by.....
Other Thoughts: Best CPU I have ever owned by far. Intel has got its act together.

Solid, Solid chip
Pros: Runs cool, is a solid overclocker, cheap, and it ran for a year on my 680i XFX board with zero trouble. At idle it runs under a Zalman 9700LED at 27C.
Cons: It's not a "stepper"
Other Thoughts: Bought here on 5/18/07 and more bang-for-the-buck than any chip I've ever had. Upgrading to a Q6600 tomorrow.

Solid CPU
Pros: Easy installation, this chip runs as advertised. I upgraded from a P4 3.2 GHz chip on an older mobo to this 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo on an ASUS P5N-D mobo. Installation was a breeze. I do not overclock, so I had decided to use the stock HS fan which kept it cool at idle at 25C. After a week with this setup, I was not completely happy with the speed increase vs the older P4 so I pulled the chip and upgraded my son's older eMachines AMD 2800 computer with a new case, this E6600 chip and an ASUS P5N-MX. I decided to go with the E6850 3.0 GHz chip for my gaming system.
Cons: This is a good solid running chip so please don’t take my cons wrong. I did not notice a huge increase in speed on the average program on this Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz as compared to the P4 3.2 GHz w/ Hypertheading. It was a noticeable difference in general windows operations for opening and closing, but I was looking for an affordable Core 2 Duo that would put some WOW in my gaming system. My son loves the upgrade from his older AMD 2800 eMachines.
Other Thoughts: My son's system that it is currently used on: Generic ATX case, ASUS P5N-MX LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7050 mobo, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz, Stock Heat Sink Fan, 2.0GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR2 800, BFG Tech GeForce 7900GT OC PCI Express x16, Koutech PCI to USB2.0 Card IO-PU520, Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 USB Headset, Microsoft Desktop 6000 Keyboard, Logitech LX7 Cordless Optical Mouse

Great cpu
Pros: This bad boy can put out more then you would think... core clock first run at 2.43 OC'ed to 3.43. great chip dont waste the money on Quad in less you really do some seruois work
Cons: Gets hot Fast! This could be cause of OC but liquid cooling killed from 57c load to 35c load. Price? still not what i expected 50$ off would be nice

Still! A solid CPU
Pros: Fast and a great overclocker CPU for gaming. Works great with XP pro.
Cons: A little dated at this point in the game, two cores, not four.
Other Thoughts: I have this in a DFI mobo with a water cooler, OC'd and this chip is still working strong. I'm on my second mobo with the same chip already. I'm not going to upgrade to quad cores yet until this chip becomes too slow to do anything, which is a long way off. Still holding on to it's price I see.

Still Going Strong!
Pros: Overclocks very high with expensive cooling. Stock hsf may work to oc...see other thoughts. I hate the fact that this cpu is considered 'old' but if you buy, you won't regret it!
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Even though this cpu is now 'old' you can still buy and overclock well past 3ghz. Many don't believe me but I have mine oc'd to 3.4ghz on stock cooling. During the summer I drop it down to 3.29ghz since my house gets very hot. Anyway, stock cooling has done me right. Oldie but a goodie. btw, i paid full retail a year ago.

still running strong
Pros: fast proc, reliable and efficient..
Cons: soon will be out dated and obsolete just like the pentium procesors
Other Thoughts: e6000 OC 3.7,8800 gtx, ballistic ddr2 8500. Im not planning to upgrade yet.. because the current model penryn is not that big of difference compare to this workhorse in performance..ill just have to wait for nehalem to come out.

It's a beast!
Pros: I bought this chip when it was new and paid a bundle for it, but I'm glad I did! This little dualcore has been OCed to 3.6ghz since I bought it and it's still running strong. It's fast enough for the latest games when overclocked.
Cons: It's getting old now. Stock speed is slow. The 4m l2 cache is small. I would only get this chip now if you are planning to overclock it.
Other Thoughts: When overclocked from 2.4 to 3.6ghz it increased my Crysis frames by about 15. Definitely a LOT of bang for your buck.

great
Pros: Great runs cool, easy to overclock. I've had it running at 3.0ghz for 6months and not one blue screen.
Cons: Not a qz9650?
Other Thoughts: There is little reason to buy a SUPERQUAD core because there are very few programs that take advantage of such high computing power. Unless you plan on running Crysis and ripping movies at the same time, go for the E8500/E8400 and you will be happy.

Great CPU
Pros: Great and fast CPU! This thing overclocks very well on air. I have it on a custom fan and have it overclocked to 3.37ghz and it runs well within the safe range operating temp.
Cons: It's not the new Quad :(
Other Thoughts: I would buy this, it is worth every penny and can be overclocked very well to a powerful CPU.

Solid CPU
Pros: Out of the box power, I have owned this CPU for well over a year and it is still working like a champ. I have not overclocked it on my PC, even running it stock speeds, you will still get very good performance marks.
Running an Intel 975XBX2KR Board, 4 GB Corsair XMS2 800Mhz Ram, WD Raptor 150GB Drive 10K rpm with Nvidia 7950 GToc Card. Computer runs like a champ. I would say it might compair with some of the higher ends at the time I built it.
All in all, a great processor for your money.
Cons: Stock cooler is not the best. Spend a little extra for a good sized aftermarket fan, it will drop the temperature from 60-75 Degrees down to around 35-45 under load. Aside from that, no really Cons to speak of.
Other Thoughts: 45nm Chips are now out. If you want the best of the best and have the money to spend on the chips, go for those. But for some that dont want to spend a fortune just yet but want a fast stable system, you cant beat the E6600 CPU.

The BEST processor available
Pros: Running at 3.0GHz for a year now, Swiftech watercooling. Was undervolted to 1.21V, and ran like a champ. Major BIOS reset put it back to stock, and I'm too lazy to change it again, besides temps are still well below safe limits. Am toying with new memory and pushing it to 3.6 GHz. Basically it has been faster than Intel's fastest chips for almost a year, and can easily be bumped well above whatever they bring out this year. One fantastic chip!
Cons: None, zip, zero, nada.
Other Thoughts: This chip rips through its work with speed and grace, never breaks a sweat and still has overclocking room to spare. The best chip Intel has ever made. Period.
The newer ones with more cache are only a few percent (like 3% to 8%max) at the same clock speeds, but seem to have much less overclocking potential, making this chip the overall performance champion among ALL processors out there today. And probably for at least the first half of 2008.

Great till died
Pros: Ran modern games like CoD 4 and Oblivion fine on a P5N32 SLI WiFi edition with 2GB 800mhz ram along with 7950GX2 also was very cheap compared to higher quality
Cons: Useless now when quad core counterpart and 3ghz 45nm are out. When i tried to OC messed up my whole system couldn't get on windows or into BIOS to un OC it, I wish I knew how to OC better :(
Other Thoughts: Was about to upgrade my Graphic card to a 9800Gx2, my motherboard to an EVGA SLI ultra, and processor to an e8400

Amazing Performance
Pros: The performance of this product is amazing, to say the least. The speed at which it operates is perfect for its price. The overclocking utility included with it is actually quite good, not the best, but still good.
Cons: None, really, its a great product.
Other Thoughts: Pick this up if you want to create a cheap, quality, gaming pc.

great proc
Pros: Great all around "budget" CPU nowadays, decent overclocker, runs everything you throw at it and well. Mine has been running for over a year now and still going just as strong with at least 10 different OS's used.
Cons: I have built several systems with these E6600s and some have a concave or "bowl" shaped IHS so make sure the cooler you get has a back plate and allows you to tighten down a bit extra to get full cooling potential (like a Tt Big Typhoon)
Other Thoughts: There are faster, newer and better processors out there but this is still a very strong CPU even today.

learning
Pros: Plug and Play! Not being the most well versed computer builder in the world, I had not trouble slapping together my first computer since everythng is pretty much plug and play these days. My E6600 along with two BFG 8800 gts OC cards can handle Crysis and COD4 Modern Warfare without a hitch!
Cons: none so far. Although my e6600 is probably the the weekest link in playing Crysis until I learn how to OC! Also my My Mobo only runs 8X insted of 16X in SLI. so not a processor problem obviously there.
Other Thoughts: MSI p6n SLI Platinum mobo, 2 gig OCZ Reaper ram w/heat pipe technology 2 BFG 8800GTS OC cards in SLI configuation. Thermaltake 750W psu, e6600 cpu, Thermaltake Thermalgate liquid cooling to the CPU when i learn to OC properly.

Still Working.
Pros: The chip has been running almost non-stop for almost 14 months now. Very seldom do i power down. Most of the time i am just restarting after loading a new OS (Technet subscriber). I have run all MS OS flavors from Server2008 to XP, 64- and 32-bit without a hitch. It ran in an Intel motherboard for about 6 months and then move in to a Gigabyte motherboard and is still running strong.
Cons: No cons on the physical device, just pricing. I paid $316.00 in January 2007. Prices sure do vary with time.
Other Thoughts: As always, ensure you have adequate CPU cooling (i am using a Thermal Take cooler). I mated the cpu with 4 GB of Corsair DDR2 6400 RAM. I have overclocked (if you want to call Gigabytes tweaker overclocking) a number of times. Non-seqequitur here but, i wonder what would happen if instead of overclocking the RAM to match the CPU, underclock the CPU to match the RAM (besides a little slower).

WOW!
Pros: great CPU, runs everything ive tried to run on it, without any hiccups. runs very cool as well, even with stock cooler.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: easy O/C'ing, possibilities are endless with this CPU!

Ok product, terrible documentation
Pros: Haven't had any issues, the product works.
Cons: Biggest problem was the instructions. They were terrible. The motherboard manual had better instructions for installing the CPU than the CPU itself. Also, it didn't even talk about whether or not using thermal paste would be required given the fact there was a thermal pad mounted on the heat sink already.

Pros: see below
Cons: see below
Other Thoughts: Why would you buy this if the E8400 is far better and cheaper as well as the Q6600 and 100.00 less ummm, can someone explain this

WAIT! Look at price!
Pros: OH, It's great.
Cons: Today, March 1 2008, the price is about $100 MORE than usual. It must be a fluke. (You can buy a quad core of the same frequency for $80 less.) Don't pay too much!
Other Thoughts: Awesome processor. Had it about half a year now. Real work horse.

need for speed
Pros: very stable,very overclockable,
Cons: price keeps goin up..
Other Thoughts: how stable is this proc? I had it OC to 3.4 on intel heatsink playing crysis without any thermal issue..dont know how long it gonna last but i may need to get good heatsink to prevent it being toast.

Amazing
Pros: Got this in 07 July, did a little OC (3.3 Ghz, default voltages), and runs smoothly till this day. Great product.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Cooling this processor with tuniq 120.

not quite
Pros: Many people have been able to overclock this processor quite a bit. And even if you don't it is quite good for most things.
Cons: I was disappointed because the particular chip I bought simply would not overclock past 3340MHZ or so no matter what I tried. And I tried hard. My system runs at about 4 deg C using a ridiculous setup using water on the chip and FSB a 55 gallon tank of cold water and high power peltiers and full size fans on the memory (and to quickly evaporate any condensation--wicked away with cotton) and random heatsinks on other board hot spots. I have to be careful because if it crashes and reboots at default, the chip goes way below zero and I end up with ice and condensation. Each time it did I was convinced I killed it but it is still running. I do testing of chess engines which are optimized for 64-bit multithread. I think those engines are tougher than the normal tests. It runs 24 hours a day at a real 100%. It is at 1.5V. I have tried different memory, bios, tons of settings from oc sites.
Other Thoughts: My experience may indicate that there is considerable variability in the chips and I just got unlucky. Mine is not a high cost system—just a lot of elbow grease. I think I am giving up on it—time to move to a quad.

Yep
Pros: Great performance for Core 2. Check benchmarks, very strong even against quad cores. Great for gaming, got a 5.3 on Vista Performance index. Less than 60% utilization for Bioshock, COD4, Crysis (on low graphics).
Cons: Don't use the intel heatsink, noisy as stink. Under load holds at approx 65C.
Other Thoughts: Yep. Great Proc.

Full Speed Ahead
Pros: VERY VERY VERY stable, 1066 FSB
Cons: It's not an Extrem Core 2 Duo
Other Thoughts: I have this CPU and an E6850, of course the 3ghz is better but this CPU is SO STABLE, even overclocked to 3.33ghz (if your into oc'ing) with a good CPU cooler youll have no prblems

Buy it soon!
Pros: The best Processor i have had. Runs like charm, Takes everything I throw at it and ask for more.
Cons: None NOPE NADA!
Other Thoughts: The reason I am writing this Review is because it should be known that Intel has stopped the manufacturing of these Glorious Processors to start Production of the Next Generation 45nm. Just as sons and daughters should out do their parents i hope the 45nms do well. Get them while you can!

Pros: Perhaps the best proc Ive had my hands on, dual cores are awsome, of course Quad would be even better. I love being able to run tons of proccesses in the background while I game, its almost like having a second machine running. Runs very stable even while overclocked, temp remains very low, Ive yet see it go over 30 C, normal idle is around 20 C
Cons: I didnt buy the quad core!
Other Thoughts: Came from a socket 478 P4 to this LGA 775, kinda freaked out when i didnt see any pins on the proc.

AWESOME
Pros: This processor was a huge step up from a celeron D 3.05 ghz for me. Before it took around an hour to convert a 20 minute video. Now i just converted all 6 star wars films and all 3 lord of the rings films in 20 minutes. I have it running with 2 gigs of ram and a radeon x1600, 320 gb HDD.
Cons: none really... except my graphics card won't let me play crysis on high...
Other Thoughts: its really good

OUTDATED BY WOLF!
Pros: Excellent processor and overclocks very well. If you plan to overclock be sure and upgrade your heatsink. The stock heatsink + fan is OK and keeps temps around 40c on stock voltage, but don't wear your CPU out by overclocking on this stock heatsink!
Cons: Price -- Only $20 less than he Wolfdale? Wolfdale is the best core 2 duo out there (when in stock) and is only $20 more on newegg...it can be overclocked at much higher speeds and has a much faster FSB.
Did you look at it yet? Yes that's right, 25% faster unclocked speed for only $20. dont expect a better bargain... EVER
Other Thoughts: Do your research and look at the Wolfdale. Have patience and get it when it becomes available! Look for it on auction web sites if it is out of stock here! (I'd stick with newegg though just b/c if it's doa)
On a side note I have been using this over a year now with 680i sli mobo, 8800gtx, 2x1gb kingston ram, arctic cooler 7 pro, windows vista x64, and i love it. no money to upgrade to the e8400 yet but this will DEFINITELY be my next upgrade!

Pros: Everything worked perfect right out of the box. Good price. Happy with everything.
Cons: I tried overclocking and Windows got pretty angry with me. I've been to lazy to mess around with it since because I haven't had a need to.
Other Thoughts: Stop reading and start buying

Pros: Aside from the givens (speeds, etc.), what really got me was how much cooler this processor seems to run (in comparison to my previous Athlon XP 3000+) - I'm having a hard time breaking 36*C with my Thermaltake heatsink, and I haven't even finished the break-in period for Arctic Silver.
Cons: Um... I couldn't find an OEM version?

One of the best money can buy
Pros: This chip is fast. Stays cool with stock fan, and quiet. Install so easy a caveman could do it. Lots of Cache. I can decompress a 700MB avi file with WinRAR in less than half a minute.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a solid built chip for the long run this sucker is worth the somewhat premium pricing. Great support at Intel too if need be.

Blistering Performance
Pros: Absolutely smokes anything else I've ever worked with, including A64's, Netburst Xeons, and Pentium D's. I thought about building an Athlon 64 X2 system 6 months before I built my C2D system and it was definitely worth the wait.
Cons: The included HSF is absolute trash as many have said. Don't even bother with it as, even though the E6600 is a relatively cool running chip, the stock cooler can't handle anything under load without sounding like an old buzzy engine.
Other Thoughts: I used this for a quiet workstation rig- E6600 + 2GB RAM + fanless GeForce 7600GS card. Yes, the new 45nm Wolfdales are out, but this is an awesome value- go and get it!

Reliable and Fast
Pros: Great CPU for a decent price. I'm using this in my current gaming rig with Vista Home Premium. While running Firefox, iTunes, and uTorrent at the same time I never go above 5% load in both cores.
Cons: None that I can think of except its not free and its not a quad. I'm thinking of upgrading late this year just to get a jump on things.
Other Thoughts: For all you AMD people saying its terrible: It's not.

Pros: Excellent Processor for just about everything. Have had it for almost a year and it's perfect. Always runs cool and consistent and handles everything I throw at it.
Cons: It's not the fastest
Other Thoughts: Price has gone down only $5 in 10 months. This is a great CPU that is obviously very popular!

Cons: From 329..to 229
Other Thoughts: I had this for almost a year now..and this proc does not slow down..i did a lot of tweaking with this cpu OC it to 3.7 and close to 4 the only culprit is the heat. make sure you have good heatsink and h20..

A monster
Pros: This CPU is a beast for the price. The limits to its overclocking are VERY high and it stays stable all the way up the ladder. Mine is OC'd @ 3ghz and it runs perfectly.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: This was one of the best purchases I ever made. I was a little skeptical at first because of the tiny price tag, but I was pleasantly surprised with the bang I got for my buck. This CPU rocks.

amd killer
Pros: this cpu is truely amazing. originally installed in a 965p mb, it ran cool @2.9ghz on stock volts. recently installed in an abit ip35 pro and i was able to push it to 3.6+ghz by increasing volts to 1.4475 and turning down memory multi to 1:1.2. it idled @24c & loaded @55c w/zalman 9500 AT & artic silver 5. the only limiting element seemed to be the memory. it is pc1066 that cant push past 1120mhz.
Cons: nothing to fault.
Other Thoughts: i have built systems for myself and friends for approx 20 yrs. virtual all have been amd driven. i have considered amd the value leader and i hope that will continue. that said, this cpu is just awesome and could ring the death bell for amd.

Beast
Pros: Runs anything I throw at it and I have tried making this thing sweat. I play Gothic 3 and lets just say my Pentium 4 wouldnt even allow me to walk around. Now the only frame lag at all is when I take out a torch (which is the graphics cards job I believe) and that only lasts for a brief moment. Stock speed is great no need to overclock unless you love power.
Cons: Wasn't free, doesnt do my chores, doesnt make me money. In other words im getting nothing done around the house now lol. But the CPU itself has no cons, except maybe being a little expensive. But hey people you get what you pay for remember that.
Other Thoughts: Great CPU if you can afford it. If not start saving your pennies because single cores are out my freind. This is my first Dual Core and I dont think I could be any more satisfied, untill I get a Western Digital Raptor that is ;).

Pros: Havite it overclocked at 3.4 ghz on 1.3360 volts on my Asus P5E. Can't wait for the new Quad core 45nm cpus come. Gonna up grade to one of those when they come out. Gonna put this chip in another comuter for a linux station.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Recommend it to anyone looking for performance and reliabilty.

E6600
Pros: Runs great , I picked up 2 of them with artic silver 5 and they arrived 1 day early I have'nt overclocked yet , maybe learn more first . I don't really see a need for it so far .
Cons: I was a little worried about seating the E6600 onto the Badax 2 at first but no problems.
Other Thoughts: I love the idea of plenty room to upgrade with the core 2 Duo's .I doubt I will need it but the quad cpu is another option .

E6600
Pros: B2 batch bought in year 2006 now running on MSI P35 Board. Running 24/7 3.3 Ghz @ stock voltage on air. I had this processor more than a year. satisfaction from the e6600 is so greater than my urge to buy the new intel 45nm processors.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I have owned or tested from Celeron 420, E4300, E4400, E4500 and Q6600( all are based on C2D architecture ) and E6600 is my favorite. Overclocks well, good cache size, and also runs cooler than Quads :)

Pros: As you know by now this is a great processor. Stepping up from an old cedar mill 3.6 ht p4, and I can't believe how fast this thing really is. This thing can truly multi task, if you're like me and finally stepping up to dual core processing, all you will say is wow.
Cons: none

E6600 experience
Pros: Updated from E4400 CPU on dg965ry intel board. After install bios recognized and I noticed faster performance. This CPU works very well for 965 boards. I did flash the BIOS from Intels web site prior to powering down and installing. Since I didn't want to disassemble the motherboard to change the CPU I appreciated the snap in connectors for the default CPU cooling fan.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: I still find pushing down on my precious motherboard to install the cooling fan a spine tingling experience. It would be nice if Intel came up with a threaded assembler for gentler cooling fan install. No other cons; strongly recommend this CPU for 965 boards.

Cons: Hmmmmmm...nope.

Workhorse CPU
Pros: Somewhat overclockable, but does what it's supposed to do.
Cons: Price. Compare this now to a E6550 at 180, and I ask myself why this is 230 and is OLDER tech!

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor -
Pros: Well you get a great CPU, AMD fan but not now, Gaming is great and it doesn't heat up that much, water cooled system makes it very OC and never gets passed 34c under full load. 3DMK6 1107 , beat that with a dual under that cost.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you want a stable system this one does it with ease, Crysis runs without a hickup, Will keep it until the price goes down on the quade core.

Pros: I bought this cpu back in 12/16/06 here in newegg when they first came out , It has been running overclock from day 1 with zero , nada , 0 problems whatsoever at 3.8Ghz with a Thermalright 120 Ultra eXtreme totally stable at 39C iddle and 51C full load. Very overclocker friendly. Best investment i have done. Super fast cpu when overclocked , Newegg service great as always.
Cons: cons , what!!!!!
Other Thoughts: Under Dry Ice has run at 4634Ghz :D , go look at i4memory.com for my Benchies on Dice ;)

Sweet!
Pros: Works! It made me a very happy programmer. It just powers through most tasks that I give it.
It runs great while several programs are processing at the same time (local instance of Sql Server 2005, Visual Studio, Anti-Virus, Outlook, ect). I'm a very satisfied customer.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: I'm a software developer. I sometimes watch the Task Manager a bit too much for my health.

Great CPU!!!
Pros: This is a great cpu, the stock fan it comes with is garbage. The plastic clips on the heatsink that it comes with will break very easily. Replaced the stock with a Rosewill Z3, Idle temperature at 34 deg and 50 deg at full load. Running for about 5 months.
Cons: The Heatsink is garbage, go buy a better one.
Other Thoughts: Should have bought the Q6600 but it came out like a week later after I bought this.
Running this on a EVGA 680i SLI motherboard, 8800GTS 640mb GPU, 4gb Corsair PC2 6400 ram, 600W Rosewill powersupply.

Scotty! Warp Factor Nine!
Pros: Fast, Fast, Fast, Cool, Cool, Cool! No Net-Burst Architecture. Intel finally realized that A M D was right all along, and actually did them one better.
Cons: Will not run at 5GHz without liquid nitrogen.
Other Thoughts: Anyone got any liquid nitrogen? :)

Best Ever
Pros: I have been using this processor in my computer for about a year and a half, and it is the best. I havn't overclocked it yet, for fear of the unknown. Anything that i throw at this thing handles it better than best. I dont know what it would do after i overclocked it, and i dont plan to find out. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Runs at about 45*C under heavy load, and at about 35*C under normal conditions.
Cons: The cooling unit that it came with it was not very good, it was horrible actually. Thank you newegg reviews for telling me about this ahead of time, you guys rule.
Other Thoughts: What its running with:
Evg* 860*GTS Superclocked
Zalman Copper Heat sync/ blue lighted fan
Asu* P5VD2-x
2gb cheap and bad memory I bought off of eba*, dont do that
750gb seagat* sata 250gb WD sata
dual dvd burners
500W powersupply (rosewil*)

Good Upgrade
Pros: Good value for performance boost, installation was a breeze
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Bought this to upgrade my Pentium D 930 3.0GHz processor and found my 3DMarks went from 5846 to 9108. Noticable improvement system-wide.

This thing is Great
Pros: It can be OC'ed at least 1GHz over, and still be stable
Cons: Should be cheaper by now, still relatively close to the same price I paid for it about 1 year ago
Other Thoughts: I would buy this in a heartbeat again. This thing is amazing!

Great for the money...
Pros: This product definitely is a good buy. Even now with the Q6600 out, this proc. is a great deal for the money. The quads are nice, but the power gain is relatively small. Not to mention, the E6600 is just as much of an over-clocking beast.
Cons: Not quad...
Other Thoughts: I have mine OCed to 3.3ghz on air cooling (zalman heat-sync) and temps never get over 44 Celsius... In otherwords, you could push this thing even more...

Nice processor
Pros: It's fast, stable, and robust.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I realized that this processor is overpriced (in the market) due to high popularity compared to other Intel processors with faster processing speed and FSB. Maybe it's better to look at others like E6750 and such.

After the jump
Pros: - Fast. - Go... Speedracer!
Cons: - You really do have to push the heat sink down !hard! to get it to sit.
Other Thoughts: - You know, if I subtract the free game I got with this back in May 07, I think I got it cheaper back than, rather than if I bought it now. I think I made the right choice if there hasn't been a price decline in nine months, don't you?

Great speed for the price
Pros: This thing is a beast for overclocking, even with the cooling straight out of the its box. I was able to overclock it to 3.3ghz at 33 - 35 degree temps in my antec 900. Runs well in Crysis (mid 20's - 30's for fps in very high detail areas at 1360x768, no AA), and has never crashed thus far. The ability to overclock this thing so easily makes it well worth the money, even when compared with the Q6600. Highly recommended processor, at least for the next year or two.
Cons: Processor cons = non. Price dropping and new releases... that's another story.
Other Thoughts: E6600@3.3ghz, EVGA 8800GTX (factory clocks), 2gb 1066 Corsair Dominator, 74gb Raptor 10k, EVGA 680i MB, Antec 900.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Pros: A great little cpu. Installed it on one of my Abit Ab9-Pro motherboards and it booted right up and has never let me down. Shows up as 2 cpu's and 1066 mhz so it works. I have not run anything yet that will bog it down. Has not missed a beat creating video's The way this little cpu works it will be some time before I go quad.
Cons: I was a true AMD fan but this little cpu may make me go Intel.
Other Thoughts: I am running 2GB of 6400 DDR2 800mhz ram on it, 3 sata harddrives 500,320,&320 gb and have 2 sata DVD/RW's and 2 ide DVD/RW's on it. 6 fans keep it cool. All on Windows XP Pro

The One, the Only
Pros: Few CPUs can beat this one for overclockability. Period. The G0 stepping is even cooler than previous steppings. On water, I overclocked this to a stable 3.6 Ghz and I would have gone higher but my motherboard only supports 800 Mhz Ram and my FSB was at 400 * 9 multiplier. It will be at least 2 years before you consider upgrading.
Cons: I sold my E6600 to upgrade to the QX6800 (it was used, I am not stupid). I wanted the E6600 back. I was robbed. The E6600 is fast enough to really make one wonder if you need four cores.
Other Thoughts: So you have to ask yourself, is what you do demand anything more than two cores and is 45nm architecture possibily worth the price.

Pros: Good price. Excellent overclocking abilities. 3ghz on stock cooling @ 35c. You really can't go wrong for the price.
Cons: Stock cooler, while it does work very well, the mounting method feels "worriesome" to me.

One of the best
Pros: Awesome CPU...over clocks like a champ. Got this baby up to 3.4 w/ a Zalman 9700 in an Antec 900. If you want a budget CPU that can do some damage, this is for you!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Trading CPU in for Q6600 G0 Stepping.

Incredible CPU
Pros: This is a great CPU, which I have OC'd to 3.4GHz with a Zalman CPU fan. Low temperatures at 100% load.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Runs all games very well in Vista, with EVGA 8800 GTX,EVGA 680i SLI A1 mobo, 2 Gigs HyperX at 800 MHz

Cons: i wish stuff didnt drop in price so fast it makes me never want to buy ANYTHING ever again
Other Thoughts: i wish i didnt buy a bad motherboard then i would be able to OC it.. not that theres any need to

Excellent
Pros: It appears to be a great processor. No issues, super fast, can be overclocked, etc. Very satisfied thusfar.
Cons: Fragile shipping box. I was afraid the processor would be damaged based on how flimsy the box it came in was.
Other Thoughts: I know next to nothing about computer technology compared to a lot of the savvy folk here. All I know is this: this processor works.

Very Good
Pros: Very good processor good speed. No problems whatsoever.
Cons: Fan got loose once, and comp kept rebooting. Dunno how the fan got loose, probably because I shifted apts.
Other Thoughts: Bit pricey when I bought it last year. Now price has dropped eighty dollares. I use it with a Asus P5NSLI mobo.
