Rating + 4 Running perfectly

Pros: I got this and the coolmaster centuruion 5 case. i get 47C idle and 60C max on cpu temp. Everything runs perfectly. Got that silver arctic thermal compound and using stock heat sink. No problems on install. Its running nicely. didn't put much compound on accidnet when i first hooked it up and heatsink was not flushed to processor. temps went to 80C but nothign bad happened. Put a bit more compound on and bam temps are in the nice 40 range.

Cons: None. Running like a champ

Rating + 4 Good processor

Pros: It's good for everyday stuff, it's not too expensive, it works.

Cons: Not core 2 duo, but this was in the price range. Next time I'm definitely going AMD, though. Same price gets you a faster processor, according to benchmarks and other things.

Other Thoughts: I'm not overclocking.

Rating + 4 Wish it was compatible

Pros: It was good but I didn't get to see it's full potential.

Cons: This is the only CPU that doesn't work with the Asus P5ND2-SLI motherboard. Asus never made this clear and had it hidden in the middle of a FAQ about the P5ND2.

Other Thoughts: Get it as long as you don't have the motherboard I do (The Asus P5ND2-SLI). Also don't go with stock cooling. You'll be happy you don't. I went with a Zalman and they work like no other!

Rating + 4 nice for the price

Pros: Price, somewhat overclockable, rock stable at 3.2 Ghz, on stock voltage and cooling. It actually outperformed my old AnD ?2 socket 939 3800+ cpu in quake3 timedemo by about 25%

Cons: it cant touch a core duo, but thats why it costs only a fraction. Runs about 10 C hotter than my core2 6600 as well.

Other Thoughts: Ok the cooling wasnt quite stock, it was combo deal on a rosewill fan. side and rear case fans were installed and of course arctic silver thermal compound as well

Rating + 5 Excellent.

Pros: Love the fact that the L2 cache size is 2x2mb which blows the 2mb shared on a C2D out of the water. 2.8 ghz with a low FSB will make this a perfect OC'er for the gamer on a budget. The fact that this is 65nm tech is even better than the lowly 8 series PentD. Im coming from a Pentium 4 with 2.2 ghz at roughly 90nm-120nm tech. This will destroy my old processor.

Cons: The price rose up about 10 dollars after roughly 2-3 sales. I was about to buy it at around 85 bucks but it rose to 95. Shame.

Other Thoughts: Just wish I could somehow magically convert it to a C2Q. Haha, wish it would also ship on weekends.

Rating + 1 Don't know what happened

Pros: I guess my games ran a little faster.

Cons: I don't know what happened. I thought it would by an upgrade from P4 3.06 ghz but after installing this my computer would randomly freeze up even in idle. Maybe because it's an HP from 2006, who knows? So I tried updating everything to fix it. Including downloading the microsoft hotfix for dual-core processors. And while I was updating my BIOS guess what, it freezes and renders my motherboard useless. So now I have to buy a new computer pretty much.

Other Thoughts: It wasn't fun while it lasted.

Pros: 4mb L2 cache=major cpu"muscle".It
O/C's well too,run mine at 3.3ghz
all the time with stock cooler. All
in all I really like this chip.

Cons: Obviously it's old netburst archi-
tecture under the hood.Even though
65nm still runs around 48C at idle.
Should be 50 dollars at this point.

Other Thoughts: I got this a few months back to hold me over until Intel releases
the 1333FSB Core2Duo's this July,
which my Asus P5N-E will support.

Pros: Nice size cache. Run well. The price is pretty cheap.

Cons: I found that it runs pretty hot 45C idle and right around 55C at max load. i am using a small case though (X-Qpack).

Other Thoughts: Over all id say its a worth while buy.

Pros: Excellent overclocker. Get a good CPU heatsink, and you can squeeze a decent amount of power out of these. Running on an Asus P5W with DDR2/667.

Cons: Prices are coming down fast, but was steep when I got it.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't be surprised if you could push this to 4.0 in a good case on a decent board.

Rating + 5 No Longer Recommended

Pros: A good review for this chip is done by Enjoicube. With that said, I have to say I have enjoyed this chip a great deal, but can no longer recommend it on a price-performance basis. If you absolutely have to have a CPU and don't have the money I still recommend you save another $20-$30 to get the Core2 Duo ALLENDALE series. Why? As other reviewers have correctly noted, the performance, in terms of throughput (number of actual instructions executed per cycle) almost doubles - even with the lowest of the Core2 Duo class (Allendale).

Cons: Chip design is extremely dated. It is in fact, the crossover design Intel used as a filler as the company migrated to the Core 2 Duo design.

Other Thoughts: This chip has been very stable though and can be over-clocked to a limited degree. If you still have to have a chip at this price point make sure you get the 65nm version instead of the 90nm version. It makes a significant difference in terms of heat and performance.

Rating + 5 So far so good

Pros: A lot of processing power for a good price.

Cons: No problems to report.

Other Thoughts: My mobo, a P5B, is reporting temperatures of about 59C instantly upon startup and about 64c after idling for 10 or 15 minutes, but the air coming out is cool. Not warm, not lukewarm, but cool. The stock heatsink is indeed installed correctly. I even used some ArcticSilver paste after carefully removing the old thermal paste. No change whatsoever. I'm going to have to assume that the mobo is reporting the wrong temperature, as this machine runs dandily.

Rating + 4 Runs great, but hot

Pros: Terrific bang for the buck

Cons: Has some “issues”… thermal ones

Other Thoughts: This is a great CPU for my Photoshop workstation which has to process some pretty large (>2 GB) TIFF files. Fills the socket on my Intel D975XBX2 motherboard just fine until quad Core 2’s get cheaper. It ran pretty hot with the stock heatsink fan in an Antec Sonata II case with that advanced air guide, even with an additional fan in the end of the air guide blowing right over the CPU. A Zalman copper heatsink and 120mm front fan did the trick after the air guide made a trip to the dumpster.

Rating + 5 Awesome

Pros: This thing rocks. I have it clocked to 4GHZ w/ 1.4 volt and with DDR2800@DDR2950, this thing blazes. Yeah its not as fast as a C2D but it's also not $400. Also the cheapest C2D only has a 2x cache which stinks.

Cons: Nothing Really. Heat I guess

Other Thoughts: The EIST really helps with temps. I have it on a Big water 745 and I get 34C Idle and 52C load. That's also with my GPU in the loop. One thing you need to remember is load, unless gaming probably wont be reached since it has 2 cores.

Pros: My processor overclocked to 3.5ghz and 1000Mhz FSB with stock cooling and artic silver thermal paste with stock voltage. I'm sure I could push it even further if I switch in my Thermaltake Big Typhoon and increase the voltage. But at these speeds I got more processor (from intel) than I would have if I paid double for the Pentium DP945 3.4ghz.

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: I used a ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA LGA 775 VIA PT880 Ultra ATX to keep my upgrade paths open.

Pros: Compared to my old 775 cpu, this thing runs like the arctic. Under load with factory fan (which is very quite) this CPU rarely goes above 40 C - my old cpu would be near the 70 C range. All this without change to case fans and whatnot.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: Check your MB manufacturer you might be able to run with this cpu if you're on a 775 cpu socket.JoeMan

Pros: It's an Intel. 4Mb L2 Cache, i got mine running on a MSI Mobo @ 3.33Ghz 950MHz Front side bus stable with no hang-ups or anything like that.

Cons: It runs a little hot, about 30c on idel and around 60c-68c on max load with stock cooling, but i Overclocked mine.i bought this when it was $99.00, $14.00 price drop.

Other Thoughts: if you plan to OC make sure to get a after market cooler. or you will end up with my temps.

Pros: Supposedly dual core. Price.

Cons: My Celeron 2.93 Ghtz works just as good if not better than this "dual core".

Pros: Fast processor, a cheap dual core altrenative to the higher end amd's and intel core 2 duo's

Cons: Could fry an egg........ Right now its idle temperature is at about 62-63 Celcius after running for like an hour. Although with a better heatsink/fan or watercooling that can be resolved, better case airflow helps too

Other Thoughts: I would have given 5 eggs out of 5 but the heat is a turnff, other than that it's a great buy (dualcore yet cheaper than core 2 duo's)

Pros: Dual core for under one hundred! What else do you need? Very fast, especially if you micromanage heavy processor applications' affinities to specific cores (mainly for telling single threaded games to focus on one core)

Cons: Not the fastest processor out there, but come on... ninety bucks!

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for someone who wants a hold-me-over until quad core or high-end duos become affordable. Dual core for the win (they won't allow f t w, lol)!! Suggest using a zalman as well, the stock heatsink looked surprisingly good, but I never skimp on heatsinks.

Rating + 4 Good Price - runs hot

Pros: Good price, good performance.

Cons: Runs hot.

Other Thoughts: I am one of the many people that had problems with this chip running hot with the stock fan. Over 52 degrees celcius at idle and almost 70 degrees celcius under load. I reinstalled the stock fan, applied some Artic Silver 5 thermal paste ... several times to no avail. I purchased a ZALMAN CNPS9500 and it made all the difference. 37 degrees celcius at idle and 55 degrees celcius under load.

Rating + 5 Great for the money :)

Pros: Great overclocker. I ran this CPU from 2.8 GHz to 3.2 GHz stable, while on the same voltage. Works wonders when paired w/ the ASUS P5L-MX MicroATX motherboard. Stock heatsink is good quality w/ copper core and aluminum fins. Good wattage, and it carries its load. Two separate CPU die, and 4 MB total cache. Aquamark score with onboard graphics: 11,597.

Cons: The fan on the heatsink is a little noisy, but I can live with it. This CPU runs a little warm (39-48 degrees Celsius) for my tastes.

Other Thoughts: This CPU is worth the money. I paid $xx for this, and it runs like a champ. Just have good airflow through your case, and it'll run cooler.

Pros: It seems like a fast processor. It's affordable.

Cons: The heatsink and fan was a tough install. Longest time I ever took to install a heatsink and fan.

It runs hot ..idles at 50 Celsius and I tried to install some programs but the temperature shot up all the way to 70C and shut down.

Other Thoughts: I never had this kind of trouble with temperature before with building systems. Now I understand why people worry about temperatures.

I might have to run out to the electronics store to find another heat sink. Not happy with this heatsink...can't say much about the processor until i fix the heat issue.

yes..i did seat the heatsink and fan firmly. I reinstalled it many times; and even took out the motherboard to install in firmly.

Rating + 4 Pretty fast

Pros: Cheap dual core, newer process die size so it runs cool. Way faster than my fastest older Athlon XP (which is unavailable commercially now almost). Supposed to be a bit overclockable, although I havn't done it.

Cons: I've read that the core2 duo's execute 10 instructions per cycle, this does 4. Its significantly slower supposedly, although this is a very decent processor for everyday use, and does games pretty good. I bought it for about xx$... One hundred less than the nearest Cor2 duo at the time (conroe).

Other Thoughts: Really can't go wrong if your building towards your dream system from an older althon or p4. These things are pretty good.

Rating + 5 Great Processor whether on budget or not

Pros: This is my second home build. I didn't want to spend more than $500 for a very good upgradable system. I bought an Asus P5B-VM mobo 775 socket with this processor, 2gb pc 5400 G-skill ram, 160gb WD 16mb Cache HDD, EVGA 7600GT Video card and spent $465.....The system runs UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Cons: There are no cons, if you want an amazing system that runs pretty much any game at medium-high settings for under $500 buy all the parts i listed above. The system runs idle at 37.5 and 52 under high load. The best part of the system is that I can upgrade to a C2Duo when the price drops and still have plenty of room for 2gb more ram if I upgrade to 64bit windows.

Other Thoughts: There are a lot of processors out there and choices to make but I made this system according to a budget vs performance scale and I without a doubt got the best possible parts. My other system that I spent over $3600 to build 2 years ago gets destroyed by this computer hands down...Video card with 12pipelines 256mb and SLI with a dual core processor? I'm as happy as can be with this processor.

Pros: Cheap and effective way to crunch through most any apps without hang up. Runs cool and fast. Dual core really shows its colors when you can format one hard drive while installing a game with 2gb of info on the other and do both at the same time in less than 20 minutes :-)

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: remeber that your buying a cheaper entry level chip. It is a super value and does leaps over the old p-4 and the likes, that is if you multi-task and/or you have a program that automatically loads and runs like norton. I have never dealt with a more complete set up than this one I just built. D 915, asus pl5nsli, 2x WD sata II 160 gb w/16mb cache, sli config evga 512 mb 7600 gs cards, sony dru 120c dvd burner, antec power trio 650 watt, cooler master elite case, two case fans by cooler master, soundblaster sound, Samsung 941 bw 19" flat panel. Cheap yet powerful i recommend this setup to the avid but not extreme gamer and multi-tasker. did it all including s/h and windows xp for under 1 5 0 0.

Buy this if u have a cheap budget and buy a mobo that supports the latest cpus like c2d or c2ee and u can upgrade the cpu later whenever u have $. Doesn't run hot!!! i dont get why there are so many complaints about that.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: the fan that comes with it, WORKS AWESOME. I expected it to be a cra*p*py one and its not, its not that loud, a little bit under lots of load but not as loud as a celeron d's fan :). Get a thermal paste to help it cool it down.

Pros: Cheap dual core, very big price diffrence between this and the "D920+" processors with little diffrence. Can be overclocked to atleast 3.0-3.2 on stock cooling. 4mb L2 Cache, very good for gaming, video editing, multitasking. etc.

Cons: The fan makes a humming noise, not loud but noticable in a quiet room at night.

Other Thoughts: Very good processor and its way cheaper then the D920 etc. for little diffrence its a great buy would buy it again, well worth it.

Furthermore after buying it make sure to scrape off the heat gel at the bottom of the heatsink and I reccomend a real thermal gel like artic silver 3 or 5

Pros: This CPU is exactly what the Pentium D was supposed to be. Unlike the 805, it isn't crippled, and the cache size is just mind boggling (especially to a person coming from a 3500+ w/512 KB).The benefits of this processor are apparent in what I do (over the 3500+) sure I game, but I also like to be running other things in the background.
One thing I like about running this in Windows XP is the ability to set affinity-For those of you who don't know how to do this I will explain. Setting the affinity allows me to have all my background tasks running (antivirus programs etc.) while playing single threaded games at full speed. For those of you who do not know how to do this, I will say that the CPU load balances on its own, and setting affinity can can screw up programs.Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to summon task manager, click the processes tab, right click on the process you wish to set, click set affinity. There will be a big box w/ core 1 & 2 checked, uncheck the box you wish to free of the task

Cons: Price cuts of the conroe, and a pentium D based on the core architecture are coming soon. If you want more performance (By quite a big margin) wait for the price cuts (April 27th 2007) if you are like me, and have no patience, get this CPU. THe reason I recommend this over the AM2 CPUs is the upgradeability, most motherboards that support this CPU support Conroes. Be forewarned, Intel does plan to drop LGA775 for their next architecture, K8L can be run on AM2 (note, you need DDR2 to run AM2, and the mobos that support AGP on AM2 are mini ATX). I couldn't afford both DDR2 and a new pci-express gfx card, so I went presler.

Other Thoughts: Again, weigh your options, I was perfectly happy with this CPU only because I knew that this was the smartest choice at the time. Do your homework, look up the CPU charts on toms hardware. Especially look at what mobo options you have. If you didn't prepare for DDR2 or PCI-Express (like Me) look for a Mobo which has what you need (in my case the ASrock quad VSTA). Newegg's search featurehelps a lot.

Pros: These are simply 65nm versions of the Pentium 4, with two cores on a chip. I would prefer a Core 2, but for less than a hundred this is perfect.

Cons: Netburst was never the best processor technology.

Other Thoughts: A testiment to how powerful these are is it killing a Via motherboard that supports it. The board is hitting as high as 79 degrees celcius.

Rating + 5 Surprisingly good for the price

Pros: I paired this processor with an Asus P5B-E and some DDR2800, planning on upgrading to C2D later this year. I upgraded from a P4 3.0ghz, and found an very nice improvement in windows boot up time, program installation time, virus scan, and multitasking. Gaming performance is very good, not on par with C2D, but for the price? You bet. I put an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro heat sink/fan on it and temps stay under 50C at full load.

Oh, and I ordered Sunday night, got the package Tuesday morning. Rock on Newegg; rock on!

Cons: It's not as fast as C2D, but plenty fast for the price.

Other Thoughts: Stock HSF is too loud for my taste, but that applies across the board.

Pros: Don't own, but considering.

Cons: It seems like the more L2 cache the proc has the less you can overclock, so if you were looking to do that you could get a 1mb x 2 and get better results.

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to point out some things that are on the product brief on Intel's website. It's says that the whole Pentium D 900 Sequence supports 64-bit, Virtualization, and Hyper-Threading. I noticed that newegg says otherwise but I would assume Intel would be the more trusted authority, it is their processor.

Pros: Cheap, quick, and reliable.

Cons: Thermal paste is inadequate.

Other Thoughts: I read the reviews before I purchased this proc. I was a little skeptical at first but I decided to trust the community’s thoughts. I didn't even try the stock thermal past - It simply did not look like it would do the job. I replaced the thermal paste with some on hand paste. Processor runs idle at 9 degrees C, 16 degrees at full load for 4 hours (stock heat sink). I needed a budget DNS/DHCP/SQL/Video Server - had on hand ram, hd, and case. Decided to go with a mobo that would support the current ram. Specs: MB - Abit SG-80DC SIS661FX 775. Antec 3U rack SRV case 450 PS. 1GB DDR 400. 80 GB Maxtor HD. Windows Server 2003 SBS with Rapidos surveillance system and 1 camera. *****Five star Budget Performer***** Total cost for computer - $270.00 (Not including OS and Rapidos system/camera).

Rating + 5 very decent CPU for the price

Pros: Bought it 3 months, not burned yet. The chip handles multitasking very good, it does more than I expected. Runs cool with stock fan, I don't know what other folks are talking about the heat problem, 37C at almost 100% CPU loading for atleast 3hrs, 29C at idle as long as builders know how to disipate the heat properly.

Cons: Can not run at 2.8 as it is officially clasified, the system crashes when run some heavy applications. I have to lower it down to 2.66 and have no problem since then, but that 's OK, $100 chip is worth it. Might be the cheap mobo impacts it- Asus PV500MX. If some one have a solution for this problem, I will honestly appreciate for your suggestion.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of upgrading to D940 but affraid of the cheap mobo don't accept that speed. Then have to buy another mobo. Newegg has lots of good deals and seriously takes good care its cust. Already beaten up Tiger direct and other online retail stores. A+++

Pros: Bumped to 3.2 with a flick of the BIOS CPU/FSB setting.

* 4 MB L2 CACHE
* DUAL CORE
* THIS ONE ACTUALLY *SUPPORTS HYPERTHREADING* PER LATEST EVEREST INFO
* INCREDIBLE PRICE
* GREAT FOR SOHO OR MEDIUM-RANGE GAMING
* GREAT FOR UPGRADE TO DUO CORE

Cons: ZERO

Other Thoughts: I paired the 775Dual-VSTA up with a D915 Presler (4mb cache) N82E16819116253, a TTake PO370 (N82E16835106085), a ROSEWILL 5717 Case/PSU (N82E16811147055), 1 MB DDR 400, a GFORCE FX5500 (N82E16814130197) and can run anything I want to run on this box. Rating + 5 Intel Pentium D 915 Presler 2.8GHz 2 x 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

Pros: -4MB L2 Cache
-Easy to Over-Clock
-Simple to Install
-Works *great* with XP Pro x64 or Vista

Cons: -Horrible heat-sink/fan: It will work until you buy another one. It cools the CPU enough so it doesn't over-heat (even under a heavy load such as gaming), but not enough for my taste. It was running around 63ºC while playing World of Warcraft on highest settings.
-As for the CPU, there are no cons that I can find.

Other Thoughts: -I don't believe the heat-sink/fan should bring down the rating of the CPU. I believe everyone should spend a few bucks to upgrade the cooling in their systems no matter what they buy.

Pros: Easy to install, just follow instructions

Cons: Heatsink in box set would not work in my HP a1420n. I had to use the heatsink that was installed for my Intel Pentium 4 620. Make sure your heatsink and fan are the same type as what is shipped by Intel.

Other Thoughts: The above problem was with HP. They didn't have any idea on what I should replace the heatsink and fan with. Very poor QC as far as who made there heatsink and fan. So far the older heatsink and fan seem to be doing the job and it's been about a month.

Rating + 5 Best CPU for the Money

Pros: This is one of the best dual core CPU's for the money right now. I love the 4MB of cache, and that it's a great overclocker. I leave my computer on most of the time, and I have it overclocked to 3.3GHz, it hasn't once died on me. I used to have it on 3.5GHz but my PSU wasn't powerful enough. I've been using stock fan and the temp never seems to go up. I do a lot of video encoding and I can still browse the internet while doing so with no slowdown. Plays games like Oblivion with no problem.

Cons: When I bought this CPU it was $xxx, kinda sucks for me. Other than that there really is nothing.

Other Thoughts: If you need a cheap CPU, but want great performance, look no further. It has plenty of cache, decent FSB and it's clocked decently high. The stock fan isn't anything to cough over and cools it great even when overclocked. For some reason this costs less than a Pentium D 805, which doesn't make any sense, so jump at your opportunity for a cheap and fast CPU.

Pros: It's an Intel

Cons: Stock HSF is noisy and completely inadiquate.

Other Thoughts: Largely disapointed with this CPU. The stock HSF is large and the fan moves a decent amount of air, yet the CPU idles in the high 40's and hits 70 under load. Removed the pad (which appears to already be a silver based compound) and applied 10% silver grease which made no meaningfull difference. The fan also blows down thorugh the heatsink which makes the surrounding components extremely hot.

Pros: Dual-Core, 2x2MB L2 Cache, Overclocks quite well.

Cons: Not even close to performing as well as a Conroe.

Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU along with the Asrock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard to replace an A7N8X and a 2800+ Barton and am very pleased. I have been able to successfully overclock the Pentium D 915 to 3.09 GHz (14 x 220fsb).

In my system I have the following: Asrock 775Dual-VSTA, 1024 MB Corsair Value Select DDR(2.5,3,3,8 @ 1T), PC Power and Cooling Turbo Cool 510 ATX Deluxe, GeCube Radeon X1950 PRO AGP.

In 3DMark05 I score 8100+ with the aforementioned rig. F.E.A.R. runs at 1024 x 768 with CPU settings at high and all video card options maxed out (soft shadows off) for an average of 50fps!

Get this CPU if you have a limited budget, yet still want high performance.

Pros: Excellent overclocker. If you have overclocking skills, a decent case, a quality tweaker's motherboard, and good CPU heatsink, you can reach very nice overclocks on these 915s. I have one mated to an Asus P5WD2 Premium with mid-grade DDR2 667 DRAM. It runs continuously at 4.0GHz. It's been running this clock since last summer at full CPU utilization (Folding@Home running on both cores.) This CPU is built on 65nm architecture, and is not the heat blaster/power hog that that was Intel's first attempt at desktop dual core CPUs. Nonetheless, if you wish to clock it up towards 4GHz, you will need a quality PSU, motherboard, and a computer case that breathes well.

Cons: Not Conroe, but then, neither is its price.

Other Thoughts: I don't think you can find a better price-performance ratio for a dual core CPU, and dual core. This CPU will clock just as high as the much higher priced, higher rated Presler core CPUs in its class. If you aren't an overclcocker, this CPU will still outperform almost any single core CPU. If it's multi-tasking, there's just no contest - dual core wins.

Perfect for gaming PC and especially for those who multitask such as file conversion, internet, music, documents, etc all at the same time. Rating + 5 Great Processor! Heat? What heat???

Pros: Simply a great budget dual core CPU. With my Newegg account this cost me around 100 bucks and it runs great. Yes a Core2Duo is faster, but I can't believe the performance you get for the price of this chip. I overclocked it to 3.2 GHZ and it still remains incredibly stable and cool. I seem to have the latest version of this chip. It has a production date of about 2 months ago. The 915 is not supposed to support Virtualization, but apparently mine does. As to the heat issue, this chip is frosty for me, even OCd and using stock. so I'm totally mystified about the heat reports. I'm watching SpeedFan as I type this and the system is moving between 27 and 32 degrees. I ran it a full load for about a half and hour and it didn't break 50 degrees. Great deal. Grab it.

Cons: None at this price. Again, I don't get the reports about the heat issues. I had a Prescott P4 3.4 GHZ hyperthreading CPU, and that thing was a furnace. This chip is much faster, much cooler, and I honestly can't believe how cheap it is.

Other Thoughts: The heatsink that comes with this CPU is actually of very good quality. If you remove the fan you'll see that the entire core, not just the bottom pad, is copper. It is formed into a large inverted cone. The cone quickly and effectively pulls heat off the chip, dissipates it over its surface, and then the fan pulls the heat right out of the funnel and blasts it out of the case. I'm using a Foxconn micro-atx case and an Asus micro-atx board. The side panel of the case also has a plastic funnel which rests over the heatsink and fan and allows the cpu's heat to be pushed directly out of the case.

Rating + 5 fast cpu

Pros: great processor. Blazing fast and I'm sure it can be overclocked. Runs around 22c to 32c. I would get rid of the heat pad once you have run the processor for a week or so and no problems.

Cons: no cons just be careful to line up pins and take your time. also change bios so the fan spins full speed all the time. You don't want the fan controlled by bios. kind of loud but works well.

Other Thoughts: I would get rid of the heat pad once you have run the processor for a week or so and no problems. get arctic silver 5 and the arcti-clean remover and cleaner to get rid of heat pad!(N82E16835100010)

Rating + 5 Perfect

Pros: 4MB of L2 Cache.Budget Dual Core.Good at multitasking.FAST!

Cons: Thermal Grease on the heatsink sucks. Clean it off with 90-99% Isopropyl Alcohol and use a better brand.

Other Thoughts: The stock heatsink is a lot better than people give it credit for.Idle temps are 20-25C and 37-43C under full load. Make sure you install the cpu and HS before mounting your motherboard. Also make sure to put a good amount of pressure on the HS.Make sure you hear the mounts pop into all 4 sides.

Rating + 5 Great cpu.

Pros: This thing is a beast. Two cores running at 2.8 GHz can handle almost anything you throw at it. I've had this in my gaming rig for about six months now, and I couldn't be happier. I have mine OC'ed to run at 3.3 GHz, and it runs pretty cool (between 25-35 C) at full load. Granted that is with Scythe's Ninja heatsink.

Cons: Though this really is a good processor, unless you're really strapped for cash its worth spending the extra money to go with Intel's Core 2 Duo E6300.

Other Thoughts: Anyone complaining about the stock heatsink needs to learn how to read instructions. If the heatsink is loose, it is NOT seated properly. The proper way to install the stock heatsink is to push down on the pins, and after the plastic retainers are all the way down, TWIST the top portion of the retainers into the locked position. This can get tricky on the third and fourth retainers, as it takes more force to get the retainers all the way down so they can be locked in place.

Rating + 5 Great and cool cpu

Pros: I use this cpu with basic Intel cooler. I give full load with super pi and several other high-loading program, but it works very fast with just 55+-2 celcius degree. It shows 37 celcius degree on idle status, and 41 celsius degree with normal usage, such as websurfing with 10 more windows.

In addition, it is cheap cpu if you consider its cache memory.

Great and cool cpu !!

Cons: None.

Rating + 4 Still a great processor

Pros: Ok, so i have had this processor for about 2 and a half weeks now. Its great, on idle it sits at 33.5 degrees celsius. When there is 60% load is goes up to around 39 degress celsius. Still relatively cool. I doubt i will ever get it past 50 degrees celsius. I am using a different heatsink and fan than the stock. I bought the Artic Freezer Cooler Pro. I suggest that, but if you can get the stock fan and heat sink to work just as good, then thats great.

Cons: Once again, its not a core 2 duo. But if your building a cheap fast system, either this or the 930 would be the way to go.

Other Thoughts: Pentium D 915, ASRock-775VSTA, 1 Gig DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9600, Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum.

What sold me with this processor was the E64 Techonology. If you look at each processor specs, it will let you know if it has 64 technology or not. I needed this for VMWare which helps me install multiple OS systems without reformatting the hard drive.

I never overclock by the way. I prefer to not blow my computer up ;-)

Rating + 2 Not impressed please read

Pros: Not sure of pros at this time

Cons: Cons are: I have always built AMD so the con for me is I can't swap with my other systems to find out whats up with a dead system. But other than that I bought this since it seems the price is lower than amd's now. I always bought amd for their price. At any rate I gave Intel a shot with this system. But it never fired up. It might have been nice. But one thing I can say is their fan that comes with it has plastic keepers on it that snap through the motherboard. That is cheap. One was bent some and I was just begging to snap them in tight so that fan doesn't fall off from vibrations while I am not looking someday. Really they could have paid 25 cents and did something a little nicer. I might get involved with intel still I don't know. But I went ahead and bought another amd for my build. Maybe I am an AMD man forever. But I am not writing it off for my next attempt.

Other Thoughts: If you know a quality fan you may want to buy it too. But it all adds up. You might be ok with the keepers on it. I just didn't trust them. In fact tinker toys are far superior.

Rating + 4 Hot Cool

Pros: Pretty awesome processor for the price.

Cons: The thermal paste is poor quality. My computer kept restarting frequently due to the intense heat. Thermal paste was dry and flakey upon inspection the day after the processor was installed. Replaced stock thermal paste with ArticSilver thermal paste. Problem solved.

Other Thoughts: When purchasing this processor, I recommend buying some Artic Silver thermal paste. Get rid of the thermal paste that came with the processor and replace it.
