Pros: I bough several pairs for my IBM Thinkpad / Lenovo T40 and T42, these chips work fine without issue, showed up right away without any issues.

Pros: Worked after second attempted placement. System Profiler recognized it right away. Has improved internet browsing, word processing speeds more than 2X. Greatly needed upgrade and totally worth the $50 after rebate.

Cons: took two tries for the computer to recognize the second stick. I pushed it into the slot a bit harder the second time and it has recognized it right away ever since.

Pros: Plug it in to my laptop and started working right away. I have a 4 year old gateway laptop and put two sticks in. I thought i was a great value for the ease of installation and for how quickly it shipped. I have recently installed windows 7 on the machine and have had no problems what so every....very happy

Cons: Wish more than two sticks would fit in my laptop, so far no problems with crashing or running out of memory.

Other Thoughts: Wish i would have bought bigger sticks, but since i was just upgrading my current laptop to get me through the next year or so it was not a big deal. Like i said i put windows 7 on the machine cause i had also bought a new hard drive, the machine runs ten times better.

Pros: Works flawlessly. Very inexpensive after rebate (let's hope they pay). Shipping $2 less than quoted online.

Cons: Must submit for rebate to get best price. No installation instructions, but most people won't need them once locating the panel covering memory on their laptop.

Other Thoughts: Name brand at a great price after rebate. I don't trust rebates however.

Be sure to get the fastest chips of the type supported by your computer (DDR SO-DIMM 333 PC 2700 in my case). It is just pennies more than slower memory of the same general type.

Pros: Works great in a 17" G4 Powerbook laptop; the performance boost is very noticeable going from 1GB to 2GB.

Rating + 5 excellent memory for Dell Inspiron 600m


Pros: I was a little hesitant while deciding on this 1Gb memory because of some negative reviews about using them on Inspiron 600m. I eventually bought two hoping to increase the memory to 2gb from the default 512 Mb. It worked right away after I put in only one making it 1.5 Gb, and it made the laptop distinctively faster. I tried the second one, the first time the computer would not start. But after swapping the old and new chips between the two slots a couple of times, at the end everything appeared OK. I noticed that sometimes the chip might not have been plugged in firmly, which could be the cause of the start up problem. After all, these are good memory chips. The laptop is super fast now.

Pros: Good brand name for an inexpensive price when factoring in a manufacturer rebate. It really perked up my old IBM Thinkpad T40 and eliminated the freeze-ups I was getting from a defective DIMM.

Cons: Not a knock on this product in particular, but high capacity older DIMMs are expensive compared to the new technology DIMMs........but..........

Other Thoughts: ....you can really extend the life of an old notebook or desktop by maxing out the RAM. I also recommend reloading the OS and your apps anually to eliminate "Windows Rot". It takes a few hours, but it the better performance is well worth it.

Rating + 4 What a difference Acer 2X fast


Pros: Sped up Acer Aspire like twice as fast. Shut down in 15 seconds compared to three minutes with the Acer when it had 512 mb of RAM. Faster getting online by a minute and a half. Web pages load visually significantly quicker from same 1.5 DSL server hook up. PNY has always worked right out of the box great quality ram.

Cons: SODIMM memory is twice the price of newer DDR memory

Other Thoughts: Should of upped the ACER Aspire 3003 to 2gb as soon as I got it. Would of saved many thousands of minutes that have been wasted waiting for things to happen when the Aspire only had 512MB ram.

Rating + 1 Compaq Presario V5000 series users be warned


Pros: Rebate, which I won't be using as I'm returning the product.

Cons: According to PNY.com Memory Configurator tool this memory should have worked with my Compaq Presario V5201US. Unfortunately after I installed it the laptop detected only 512MB instead of 1GB. Digging through their support FAQ's I found out that their memory modules are using high-density capacity construction which the laptop apperantly does not support. I though PNY was a decent company for desktop/laptop memory, but I'm completely disappointed in their quality after my recent experience. Honestly as a IT professional I would not recommend this brand to anyone in the future.

Other Thoughts: PNY, I hope you fix your Memory Configurator tool which currently is providing customers with incorrect information.

Pros: I ran the stock pair of quarter-gig modules in my laptop for a few years (too long), but it aged quickly, so I decided to throw in the maximum after memory prices plummeted. I wasn't feeling too solid about some of the quasi-generic manufacturers, so when I saw the deal on this I went for it, and it has made a very noticeable difference. I'm considering running Win7, given its low requirements and limited bloat. It may or may not last. : )

Pros: Cost maybe?

Cons: I've tried to upgrade a Dell 600m to 2GB RAM with this product and it has been a rocky road, at best. At first, the system refused to boot: I diagnosed the failure as a faulty DIMM which I returned to Newegg.

The system ran a for a few weeks and then became fiercely unstable, BSODing regularly, but passed Memtests and other diagnostics. Finally, on a whim, I swapped this RAM out and the system has been great since.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I'll be returning to PNY for RAM: the few bucks saved over brands I've had more success was long ago depleted in the time required to diagnose and repair the system's instability.

Pros: popped it into my old snail loading laptop and literally revitalized it, gave it new life! Memory now reads 1.25gb.

Cons: I'm thinking in upgrading the second stick and making it a 2gb total/max, but to get to the second stick you need to literally take the laptop apart (pop the keyboard out), not sure if I want to go over all that surgery. I also think that this ram is a bit more expensive than sodimm-ddr2? shouldn't parts for older models become less expensive over time?

Pros: Simple plug and play installation. I have an HP ZD7180US lap top with a 17" screen. It was originally equiped with 1gb ram. When I ran a crucial.com memory analysis (which I use religiously on all my clients computers) it indicated I had a max option of 2gb, but I was currenltly at 2/3 to 3/4 max memory capacity and that going to 2gb would only give me a 1/3 to 1/4 increase (based on the bar graph). However when I installed the 2gb (two 1gb strips) I found that the computer was dramatically faster on boot up and application transition. Simply put, MAX IT OUT!

Cons: It does not play well with others. I installed a 1gb strip in a Dell Inspiron 1150 along with a 256mb that it came with hoping to get 1.256gb or 1256mb, but it does not work. Took out the 256mb and the 1gb works great. So I ordered another 1gb strip to match. Should make the Dell fly.

Rating + 3 Good Memory, Bad Rebate!


Pros: Good memory. Worked with my old Toshiba Satellite A45 S250 with Ubuntu 9.04 without a problem. Popped the memory in, started the computer up into BIOS and there it was.

Cons: Now the bad. I buy G.Skill memory and have for years. Well Newegg showed this memory with the rebate and it was "alittle" cheaper than the G.Skill without a rebate. So I thought I give it a try. Received the memory filled out the rebate form (which does not have any place to add where you bought the memory from other than the sending a copy of the invoice) and sent it off. Well "NOT" to my surprise, the Rebate tracking center stated "Missing Purchase Location" and makes the rebate invailed. I will never buy PNY memory again and till stay with the memory that has always run great for me... G.Skill!!!!!

Other Thoughts: I will start staying away from buying an item with a rebate. 50% of the time I never see the rebates. And consumeraffairs.com shows the con of it. I do thing Newegg does a great job and I hope they keep it up........ This is why I gave PNY memory a 3 and not a 5 due to the rebate mess.

Pros: Great memory. Added to a Dell 600m Inspiron. Works great, installed in 5 minutes, immediately recognized.
Responsiveness of laptop with the added 2 gigs is amazing.

Cons: Expensive. DDR memory is becoming difficult to find, and luckily Newegg carries a decent supply.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was free, it arrived in a lightly padded envelop. I am very unimpressed with the changes to Newegg's shipping as of late. It used to be, around 6 months ago and previous that the shipping was remarkably better. I am going to be purchasing a Canon DSLR Camera within the month; and I am quite worried about the camera being damaged in transit. I have shopped with Newegg for at least 5 years and their recent lash of poor shipping is quite worrisome.

Pros: Plugged it into the open slot on an HP Compaq NC6120. On first boot the bios did an auto reconfig and the added 1G of memory showed up as expected.

Other Thoughts: The stock 512 MB, with part of that taken by onboard video, meant it didn't take loading many apps under XP to start swapping and bogging down. So this was a cheap performance boost.

Pros: The PNY memory comes with a good warranty and meets the manufacturer specs. This is a good buy if you are upgrading, it might not be the cheapest out there but as far as trustworthy brands go the price is unbeatable. I like PNY because I know I can put it in any machine and it will play nice with all the other bits. I have had problems with other types of RAM in the past but PNY always seems to work. I have been running this stick for the past 3 months and no problems to speak of.

Cons: I am not a fan of the packaging, although I never am. Sometimes the labeling on the PNY RAM can be almost non-existent. I like RAM to be clearly labeled that way I know what each stick is two years from now when I cant remember if that stick was the 1GB or the 2GB one. I will say that if I am interested in real performance I would go with another brand though, see "other thoughts."

Other Thoughts: I like PNY for many memory solutions. If I were building a new desktop system I would go with Corsair XMS or Patriot. This was for an upgrade though. As an upgrade for a laptop or desktop PNY is a good name, same goes for USB thumb drives. I have used many different PNY memory products and have been satisfied with all of them.

Pros: It works! My laptop calls for PC2100 memory, but I have figured out from reading the reviews of others that PC2700 will work just fine in my laptop. Just make sure that it is the same type that the computer requires (DDR or DDR2 cannot be mixed for example) and it is the same speed or faster than the computer requires. Unfortunately this information is generally not available in the product descriptions. I can even mix memory speeds. Right now I have 1 gig of PC2700 and 256 meg of PC2100 RAM in my laptop and there is no problem at all. I believe both memory modules will run at the same speed as the PC2100 RAM. Buying PC2700 RAM actualy saved me money over PC2100 RAM. Sure beats having to shelf the 256 meg of RAM or buying 2 new memory modules.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: The free shipping really helps keep prices down.

Pros: Easy install and prior purchases have always been a plus in purchasing and installing PNY memory.

Cons: Seems to run a little hotter than before. I'm also having a problem with compatibility with other memory modules in the mix. I purchase 1 PNY 1GB memory stick and install with another brand of 512K. First mix gave me serious system errors at boot time (recoverable not fatal), but still alarming since I never had this before. Had another 512K and swapped out... so far no errors at boot time.. I do however have a problem with hibernate disappearing after it runs hard. Never had this before. Will continue to try different options to see if this goes away.

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking perhaps to buy another 1GB PNY stick to see if like memory resolves the issue... Only concern is what if it doesn't, what a waste of time and $$s. I'm going to run with just the PNY stick for now to see if it stabilizes and resolves the hibernate issue... Will update once I let it run this way for a while.
