Very nice monitor
Pros: Beautiful display, COMES WITH DVI CABLE!! Great monitor for the money, backlight bleed isn't as noticable to me as some others, quick response time, height adjustment.
Cons: None

2nd monitor
Pros: Gorgeous color, snappy response time, highly adjustable stand. I like the look of this monitor much more than the 226bw. It's much more understated and the thin bezel makes it great for dual monitor setups.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: I've had one of these for the last 6 months and I've just added a second to my setup. It's of the same great quality as the first. The backlight bleed is a little worse on this one but still very minimal. I play Crysis and Bioshock on these and they perform great.

Great LCDs for the money
Pros: These are great screens, I am looking at 2 of them on my desk and they do a great job for gaming and for web design.
Cons: There is some backlight bleeding as others have mentioned, however, the only time I notice this is when I'm looking at a pure black screen. I've had them for a year and I guess I don't spend much time looking at black screens because I'm not really bothered by this issue.

*sigh*
Pros: bright, HUGE
Cons: refer to other thoughts...
Other Thoughts: I bought it in June..backlight bleed on top and bottom of monitor, but i'm a web n3rd..really doesnt matter to me. dont really game much either. MY problem (which I rma'd it for) is shadowwing across the entire screen. blurry text that almost makes me dizzy if I stare at it too long. i troubleshooted 100% to no avail. so instead of spending x number of dollars on a shiny new monitor, i spent x number of dollars on a shiny new monitor that will be replaced with a refurbished, potentially dinged-up model that would retail for 30-40% less in a store. At least samsung's rma program doesnt leave me waiting a month for my monitor back-I trade mine with a refurb at my local ups store in a couple of days. a bittersweet feeling overall to a GREAT-when functioning- monitor.

Bleeding Monitor
Pros: It's awesome have such a large monitor. Especially when it comes to gaming, I upgraded from a small old CRT monitor. It is also very easy to adjust it depending on how you are sitting, you can almost move it with one finger and it stays in place well when you let go.
Cons: As a lot of people have said, the back light bleeds pretty nasty on the top and bottom. When in normal screens you can't tell but the second it goes dark you have all kinds of light coming through. Also, not the monitors fault but a lot of older games do not support 1680x1050 resolution so you will need to scale it down with your video card controls are just let it stretch to the size.
Other Thoughts: Other than the bleeding edges I am pleased with this monitor. My only regrets are that I didn't get one with the glossy screen for a clearer picture (just my own preference, the flat screen is also very sharp) and that I didn't listen to the people talk about the bleeding back light. I forget about it most of the time until I hit a black/dark screen for whatever reason then I get upset all over again.

A Thing of Beauty
Pros: Excellent Build Quality Excellent Stand Excellent Color Quality Very little backlight bleed through No Motion Blur 8bit Panel Great Styling Huge Screen Sharp Image DVI(with DHCP) and VGA inputs Built in Power Supply
Cons: Input connectors are difficult to get at a common LCD issue.
Backlight Bleed through. I have yet to see an LCD that has none this is without a doubt the best I've seen thus far.
Other Thoughts: No Dead Pixels!!! Samsung Quality...
The Best looking LCD I've ever seen. Color is so much better with the true 8bit panel vs most use 6bit with dithering. The Backlight Bleed is very minimal. The Blacks are Black and the Grays are Gray. My biggest issue with LCDs vs CRTs is the Black being dark gray. This is as Black as I've seen. As always Newegg got it to me fast. Newegg Rocks!!!

Great Monitor
Pros: BIG, Great picture! Great stand! Great product! Great Price!
Cons: Can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: Don't understand the complaints about light bleeding issue. Yes you do see it on a dark screen but otherwise it is fine.

Rebate came 5 1/2 months later...
Pros: I'm still very happy with the pair of these I bought early last summer. Very solid and dependable. Still no dead pixels.
Cons: Rebates took forever!
Other Thoughts: I'd buy another one if they went back on sale.

Amazing monitor
Pros: Beautiful screen. Sharp image and good color. Arrived with no dead pixels. Thin bevels- I despise the newer 226BW model that adds bulk to the bevels, why mess with such a great design?? Makes for an excellent dual monitor setup without extra bulky plastic between the dual screens.
Cons: Some backlight bleed, but it's a minor con to be because I simply don't notice it during normal use. When playing letter boxed movies, I tend to watch the MOVIE, not the top and bottom of the screen where the bleed is.
Other Thoughts: I haven't had any practical problems with the viewing angle or light bleed. Take some time to use the calibration tools to adjust the screen to its best possible settings and you'll not be disappointed by this monitor.

Nice monitor
Pros: Crisp picture. great price.
Cons: some backlight bleed. Power supply buzz/hum/whine (see below)
Other Thoughts: This is a great monitor for the $$$. It has a nice, crisp picture and decent response time. My monitor has an ANNOYING whine from the power supply. This can be stopped (temporarily) by adjusting the Phillips head screws on the back of the monitor. A little tighter, or a little looser, it takes some experimentation, but stopps the noise for a week or so before another adjustment is needed.

Samsung 22" widescreen
Pros: Very big and bright, with even and fairly accurate color, no banding, no hot spots. Sharp as a tack. Runs *very* cool. Fast enough for video and occasional gaming. Has excellent ergonomics and an understated presence.
Cons: A 1" movement of your eyepoint vertically changes apparent brightness and color. (Not good with a rocking chair!) Minor backlight leakage just along top and bottom edges. Blacks appear as dark gray. Does not have dynamic contrast control.
Other Thoughts: After 3 weeks of use, the light leakage seems to be less than when I first got it - don't see any leakage along the top anymore. Doing a calibration seemed to improve on the sensitivity to vertical movement a little. Having the tilt and height adjustments help with this too. All in all, an excellent general purpose large widescreen monitor at this price point. Happy with this one so far.

It's a monitor
Pros: Price point after rebate (if it comes), nice aesthetics (plain), if it's like the 19" lcd I already own, it'll be around awhile.
Cons: Image doesn't have the WOW factor of my 24" Dell, these monitor should be like rear projection big screen tv's that come with the optional clear glossy front panel that you can install if you wish. Those things help turn a dull image into a nice shiny one.
Other Thoughts: Got this for my kid's Dell XPS 410 rig, eVga 7900GS card, e6300, 3gb ddr2. Looks great in games, but I love the effect the glossy screen my dell laptop has compared to the matte finish of these desktop LCD's. Nice monitor still and the price point is less than half what I paid for my Dell 2407FPW.

Cons: Slight bleedthrough at the top and bottom but only noticeable when the screen is blacked out.

Great LCD
Pros: * Fully Comapitable with Mac OS X (I'm using a MacBook) * Clear, sharp screen * EASY installation (took 5-7 minutes) * Very professional looking (all black for the outer edges) - great for home/office usage * Height adjustable (goes up pretty high!) * Sturdy base/outer casing * Vista certified (for those that use Vista)
Cons: * If you're going to buy any monitor for your MacBook, you'll have to purchase a mini-DVI to DVI adapter. You might want to factor that into your total cost. The MacBooks are equipped with a mini-DVI slot and the cable you receive with the monitor package is a DVI to DVI cable, so that presents a minor problem. Get the adapter and you'll be fine.
Other Thoughts: I ordered the 22" monitor on Sunday, received in on Tuesday. Talk about fast shipping from Newegg!

Great monitor
Pros: Great monitor, all pixels were alive and willing to contribute to displaying video.
Cons: I now have to upgrade my 4yr old computer so I can run games at the higher resolution. Not really a con on the monitor, just an aging system.
Other Thoughts: I had purchased the 19" version of this monitor for my wife on the last mothers day, since its upstairs and I use it on and off I grew fond of it. Of course I had to get a bigger one to replace my 21" CRT downstairs...
Samsung seems to make good products, i've recently also purchaced a HD with their name on it, so far so good with that as well.. Go Samsung!

Excellent 22" WS LCD
Pros: Weight, adjustable stand, picture quality, Samsung quality, price.
Cons: None, really.
Other Thoughts: I've owned a few 22" LCD monitors (Acer, Dell, Samsung), & imho this one is the best, in terms of both its performance & value. Strongly recommended!

Nice widescreen
Pros: Crisp resolution, large widescreen, no distortion, decent contrast, height adjustable, solid construction, nice buttons, very appealing look and buttons, no dead pixels!!!
Cons: Color adjustment needed for setup, back light bleeding issue (not as bad as people say). My DVI port had issues but im also running a TI4600 Geforce 4.
Other Thoughts: Excellent buy for the money. Shiny finish would improve the contrast.

Perfect if you're not extremely picky
Pros: I like simplicity, and this is a nice looking, no frills monitor. No USB hub, no speakers (who uses integrated monitor speakers anyway?). Some complain about the backlight bleeding, and mine does a little. But that's only with a black screen. Otherwise, I'd never know. Some also complain about the viewing angle. Again, if you're a graphic artist, buy a different monitor. If you're the average user, you won't be disappointed. The power button lights up blue, but won't blind you in a dark room.
Cons: Doesn't rotate. I deal with that.
Other Thoughts: The three year warranty is always a good thing.

Awesome monitor
Pros: Massive amounts of desktop space at 1680 x 1050! I love playing Civ 4 in widescreen. Height adjustable base. Matte black bezel is great for watching movies.
Cons: Blacklight bleed is noticeable if you look for it. But this doesn't bother me because I previously had a 19" Samsung (same series) and it had the same issue, so I am used to it by now.

Died after six months
Pros: I love having this monitor.
Cons: One day, it started acting funny. On the lower right corner, the pixels started to behave strangely. There was a triangle shape of dark pixels that started to grow, and turning the power off and back on didn't help. In fact, once powered off, I couldn't turn the monitor back on unless I just kept trying and eventually it worked. Yesterday, the monitor just outright failed.
Other Thoughts: I'm waiting on a replacement. For a long time, I have been a big fan of Samsung products, however, this is going to be their test. If they fail miserably I will probably steer away from them in the future.

Not that impressed
Pros: 3 different positioning options. You can rotate it, tilt it, and change the height. These are the reasons why I bought this monitor.
It is very bright, which is a plus. It has an auto adjust mode, but I'm assuming the other monitors have that.
Cons: When I turned it on the first time, there was some backlight bleeding on the border, and there was an imprint in the middle of the screen. Now after a couple of days, it's just on the borders. The backlight bleeding isn't THAT terrible, but people who know what it is, will notice it.
The software is not compatible with Vista.
Other Thoughts: I went from a 19" Viewsonic CRT, to this. It was a huge change, but I thought for what I paid for, I would get some of the quality that Samsung has for their other products.
If you are looking for a monitor that can move in every position, this is it. However if you're looking for quaility, give it a second thought.
I was also very fortunate not to get a monitor with dead pixels. *Crosses Fingers* I hope dead pixels won't come up later.

Overall, very good
Pros: HUGE! Bigger than I expected. Very bright, have it set at 75 and I think it's still a tad to bright. Height adjustment is amazing to have. Looks huge compared to my trusty 5 year old Mitsu***** NX85LCD 18.1". Text is clear, games are clear, zero dead pixels... overall happy.
Cons: Backlight bleed is a little more than I expected. I've been reading reviews here about it, and believe the hype! Only took down 1 egg for it though. Other than the backlight bleed, which I'm sure I'l be over in a week or two, its pretty rockin'.
Other Thoughts: My 7600gt it struggling a bit now at the native res in some games. I should survive though.

great for spreadsheets
Pros: wide for viewing large data sets, great resolution, very bright
Cons: none that I can think of
Other Thoughts: i'd highly recommend this monitor if you work with large spreadsheets. i frequently view large data sets and it's nice to view the data without it being squeezed together as it would be on a non-widescreen monitor.

A Very Good Buy
Pros: This thing is massive, but in a good way. It gives me plenty of space to do stuff in, and the resolution is crisp and nice. I really like the automatic screen setting button, it takes a lot of the tediousness out of finding the right focus and positioning. Heck, I even like the buttons themselves, they are unobtrusive, and have a satisfying click when you push them. I also love the vertical tilt, the 330-degree rotating base, and the height adjustments, because I am somewhat picky about having the screen at the right angle. There were no dead pixels at all, which I was glad of. It has both analog and digital inputs, which makes it useful for anyone.
Cons: There are a couple of issues though. The backlight bleeds a bit at the top and bottom, but, as it has been said before, it's only really noticeable when you are watching a widescreen movie, or playing a dark game. It's really not that big of a problem for me, but this is the cons section, and that's a pretty big one. Another minor flaw I found was that sometimes the auto button can't quite bring everything into focus, but this is remedied by going into the menu and tweaking the settings a couple of places up or down. The auto button is a terrific tool for getting into the ballpark of a pristine picture, and you can go from there. I would also like to see a couple of usb ports on the monitor, but that's just another extra that I personally like.
Other Thoughts: Other than the backlight bleeding, this is a rock-solid monitor with loads of space. The color is spot-on, and the adjustable screen is terribly convenient.

My second purchase was good as the first!
Pros: No dead or stuck pixels. Fairly heavy, sturdy, fully adjustable stand is the best one of all the 22" models I've seen -- no chance of it tipping over, or bobbing while typing. HDCP compliant. Includes both DVI and D-Sub cables. Includes the Natural Color Pro calibration application. Three year warranty on everything including the back light. Easy to use and conveniently located buttons -- especially for switching user profiles and input type. Large factory taped/sealed box prevents tampering and shipping damage. This box saw more shipping abuse than the first one (dented corner, crushed on one end) but still fully protected the monitor from damage.
Cons: It is no longer in production and the succeeding model 226BW doesn't have as good a stand.
Other Thoughts: Bought the first one late May of this year and have been very happy with the accurate colors and great performance! Glad there was still stock left so I could buy a second one for a color-matched dual monitor setup in my video editing workstation. This one was manufactured April 07, a month later than my first. The panels seem to offer identical performance despite what others have posted about 2-3 different panels being used depending on the supply during manufacture. I don't find the backlight bleed or somewhat narrow viewing angle to be as bad as others complain about. The bleed is only there on very dark/black backgrounds and once you calibrate the monitor, will not harm the image or be distracting -- unless you like watching ONLY pure black screens. (Turn it off then.) No viewing angle problems if you read the instuctions about seating position; my clients have no problem viewing from 45 degree angle. Even the most expensive LCDs have these limitations...

Huge Red Dead Pixel
Pros: Great resolution. Good brightness uniformity. AWESOME stand, very very adjustable. Good price. Samsung has a pretty good warranty.
Cons: Monitor came with two stuck/dead blue pixels and a cluster of red pixels. Pretty lousy. Of course, newegg rocks and is exchanging it. I will come back and review again after the new one comes. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident, I have never seen such a bright read dead pixel on an LCD before, and I see plenty of computers both professionally and personally!
Other Thoughts: Hopefully the replacement will be up to the standards I hold Samsung and Viewsonic too. Heck even my sub-standard Hyundai monitor has no dead pixels after 2 years.

Good buy
Pros: Great looking monitor, very clear, had no stuck or dead pixels. I'm mostly a gamer (WoW), do some surfing on the web, and write some papers. Monitor looks great for this, I do not notice any negatives
Cons: None!

Good Features/Price - Poor Quality
Pros: Competitive price, no dead pixels, good features, thin bezel.
Cons: DVI connection would not work (tested on another working computer to be sure, RMA'd the monitor). Light bleed on top and bottom of screen is apparent - tolerable for office use however.
Other Thoughts: Get what you pay for, from now on, I'll pay a little more for something that works. You're basically just getting the Samsung name on a Chi Mei (or similar mfr.) panel.

Good value
Pros: I bought this monitor for gaming, and it is good for just that. Samsung's quality control came through and I have had no dead pixels and the light bleed-through is minimal and can only be seen on the black screen at start-up. The screen is bright and the colors are vivid and well-balanced. Adjustments are fairly simple. There is no visible ghosting. The wide screen and fine detail makes video games more immersive.
Cons: As so many others have said, the worst aspect of this monitor is the narrow vertical viewing angle. No matter how I adjust it, the top of the screen is too dark or the bottom is too light. Also, the monitor only supports the native resolution on my computer. Any other size has blurry text. For me, this makes text and icons a little too small, even after adjustments. Pictures and video on the Internet are also very small. On the plus side, I can easily fit two large documents or applications side-by-side.
Other Thoughts: You can get a better monitor, but you will have to pay double or triple the price. For most users, especially students and home/office applications, this is a great monitor. For professionals and graphic artists, you will want to invest in something better, like an Eiso or at least a Samsung with a PVA screen.

Backlight Bleeding!
Pros: No dead pixels. Plenty of color adjustment to suit any application. Responsive.
Cons: Backlight bleeding!!! I read the user reviews here and thought that a little light at the edges would just be covered by window borders anyway so I bought it. But the one I got was horrendous! It's like someone's shining a flashlight at the bottom of the screen and the bleeding gradients the entire display!
Other Thoughts: Returning this item and will try the 204B...

Decent minitor for the price, but bad viewing angles/colors
Pros: HDCP support, height/tilt/swivel support, nice size without being too big, good price, pixels aren't so small you must squint. Great stand.
Cons: I hate that the colors on this monitor change fairly readily with the viewing angle. I even notice it 1.5 feet away from the monitor with my eyes basically centered on the LCD. You don't need to be way off angle for light grays/whites to begin to turn a yellowish brown, for example. Sitting close to the monitor makes things worse. if you have bad eyesight.
There is some minor backlight bleed at the top/bottom, but it does not bother me that much.
At all of the preset profiles except "Text" (internet, game, movie, etc.), light gray colors fade into the whites. In the Text setting the white isn't as bright. So, the monitor will definitely require some time spent calibrating to look nice.
You may need to update your video card drivers to get the native resolution supported easily.
Other Thoughts: I'm donating this monitor to a family member and getting a 24" panel with a PVA/MVA or IPS panel, with better viewing angles. Sadly, there don't appear to be 22" screens with the more advanced panels and the 24" panels are a big jump in price.
I have to sit in front of this LCD all day long, so I can't afford not to be picky.
I bought this over the similar 226BW model because of the added stand adjustability.
I didn't test movies and games much, since I don't really do that. I mainly need an LCD for programming, photo editing, and GUI design, so I strongly prefer accurate colors to a fast response rate, so I've decided TN panels are out of the question now.
I wish companies would state realistic viewing angles before the colors noticeably change, not misleading us with when the monitor degrades to 5:1 or 10:1 contrast, when it was at a useless viewing angle long before that.

Fantastic Monitor!
Pros: Inexpensive. High Quality. Easy to navigate Menu. Clean border. Height/Tilt Adjustment. Light weight. Bleed through is not NEARLY the thorn everyone in the forums makes it out to be. Once you realize how insignificant it is, you'll be sorry you wasted your time worrying about which monitor has less bleed through. I don't know, maybe Samsung monitors really are the best, but anyone talking about bleed through on these monitors are splitting hairs and DIGGING for problems/issues. GREAT monitor!!
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor two days now. No dead/stuck pixels. I absolutely love the monitor. Had a Hitachi SuperScan 753 (Yes, I was one of the ones who got it from B U Y.com for $164.50!!) 19" which I love as well. Needed to free up some desk space. The border is clean, with minimal distractions. Great adjustment options...wasn't sure if I wanted height adjustment or not, but I'm glad I got it. A note on "bleed through". Are you kidding me? I'm pretty d@mn picky when it comes to my computer/techy products. By the talk of all this bleed through, and how bad it was, or even WHAT it was, I was expecting a pretty big distraction...or even slightly noticable, which would have bugged me. Is there bleed through? Yeah. Barely enough to say so. It's not like a bright white light or even anything to worry about. Distract you from playing games/movies? Once I realized what I was looking at, I couldn't believe this was even in the forums!! Great monitor-great price. NewEgg rocks on shipping too!

Great 22" monitor
Pros: I found this monitor to have nice clean pixels and bright colors. I own two of these I don't have any regrets. I use this monitor for surfing the web and a lot of text editing. Thus far it's been great.
Cons: I can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: I wish I had bought one more.

225bw owners
Pros: Everything works great except one thing, I am posting my question here to see if anybody else has same issue: On windows Vista, when viewing digital camera pictures, when picture is opened inside "Windows picture and Fax viewer", it's very dark;but if it's opened by other picture view softwares, everythinglooks fine. I tried couple of ways and no luck.
Cons: none

Excellent Buy A+++
Pros: I received this monitor less than 48 hours after I ordered it. Newegg cannot be beaten. The price is spectacular. I purchased along with a new(er) 7600gt to replace my aging 6600gt on my ASUS P4P800-e Deluxe. Combined with 2gb ram, 3.2E Prescott, and plenty of storage space. This thing rocks. If I had used my old card, I bet Vista would've been a bit lagging in the gfx department at the native reso. Now I can game at full resolution and still get very good scores without spending a boatload of money. Height asjust is simple, no buttons, just slide up and down.
Cons: Backlight bleeding, but I dont really care about blacks enough to make this note-worthy. I mean, who really pays attention to the bleeding while watching a movie. The only time I notice it is when looking at a screensaver. Just turn off the panel. Save some electricity.
Only thing I wish was that the panel had a tilt. Oh well.
Other Thoughts: <48hrs to my doorstep is simply amazing. I dont care what company it is. The system is so streamlined.
If you want a height-adjustable panel, this one will fit your tastes (without sizing up your wallet)

Pros: This is an amazing monitor. Picked it up over a year ago and havnt had any problems. I play games and work with autocad and I absoutly love this monitor.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I'm upgrading to a 24" or 30" very soon and I'm sticking with Samsung.

Pros: Definitely a little bleed through on the top and bottom, but it doesn't bother me any. Other than that, looks great! Even without having the "S" panel.
Cons: Was cheaper at CC than NewEgg.

SAMSUNG 225BW Black 22" 5 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor with Height Adjustments 280 cd/m2 700:1 - Retail
Pros: Another EGGcelent product. Arrive working, no damage, no stuck pixels.

Other Thoughts: Rotini with Salsa di Limone 1 pound rotini pasta 1 1/4 pound Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil 1 large lemon, zested and juiced 1 cup crumbled ricotta salata cheese or feta cheese 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Consistant Problems
Pros: Nice screen. No problems with dead pixels.
Cons: My family and I have purchased a total of 4 of these. The first one went dead about 5 months after we purchased it. The power light is on, but no picture. All the cables were tested and proved functional. We returned it for another identical model, thinking it to be a one time problem. The second one went out about two months after we bought it. Now we're just waiting till the other two go out.
Other Thoughts: Samsung has a good return and warranty policy, but I don't want to keep returning model after model. I think we're done with this one, if not Samsung altogether.

Pros: This monitor came to me with zero dead pixels (YMMV) and is great for just about every purpose I have put it to. I haven't driven it insanely hard with the most intense action scenes, but I have never seen any ghosting or other artifacts; I play a lot of first person shooters and other games, and my prior gaming instincts have been disproven in this regard. It is bright enough to work in pretty much any lighting situation, as far as I have used it. Build quality seems to be solid, and the stand swivels and adjusts smoothly without losing its place.
Cons: In the 22" widescreeen LCD space, it is slightly more expensive. You should definitely measure where you're going to place it though, my desk makes clearance by about an inch all around, but you should know this already.
Other Thoughts: I think the biggest factor for me when buying this monitor was my happiness with a Samsung LCD TV. For what it is worth, I think that the slightly higher price is worth it, considering how consistently I've been pleased with this generation of Samsung LCDs.

Almost 5 Stars
Pros: Bought 2 for a multi-monitor setup. No dead pixels, smooth and even brightness across entire screen, crisp and clear at multiple resolutions, 3-way adjustable, and a sturdy base. 1 has virtually no backlight bleeding. 1 has noticible bleeding on the top left half.
Cons: You can not bring up the OSD menu if no signal is available. I got them stuck in a loop, each one looking for the oppsite signal (DVI/VGA) they were receiving. Had to boot to BIOS - which they both saw - to be able to bring up the OSD menu to adjust inputs.
Other Thoughts: Wanted one at 1280x800 and one at native 1680x1050. Latest NVidia Forceware wouldn't let me add 1280x800 as a custom resolution. Had to install Powerstrip, add the resolution, then uninstall Powerstrip. Have both set to 30 Brightness and 40 contrast.

Followup Review - This DOES have the USA Warranty...
Pros: HDCP-Compliant (My monitor had a manufacturing date of March 2007); no dead pixels; excellent image-quality; the bundled calibration software (Natural Color Pro) takes the guess-work out of getting the perfect brightnes/contrast/gamma/color balance from this display; the light bleed is very subtle and not at all distracting to me whether running a video editing program or watching a HD video; the base is completely adjustable (height/tilt/base rotation) and securely holds the chosen adjustments -- and no "bobbing" during typing as LCDs w/flimsy bases *cough*Acer* do; display control buttons are right in front for easy access without being distracting, power button blue LED is just bright enough to be seen w/o being a distraction. Can't find anything NOT to like about this monitor...
Cons: Some models shipped with a Canadian warranty card instead of the correct USA one. (See my post from a few days ago.)
Other Thoughts: Newegg called Samsung regarding USA Vs Canadian warranties on this product and then informed me of how to tell if my model has a USA warranty: On the monitor's back is a label stating the Model Number and then the Model CODE. The last three letters of the Model CODE should read: XAA for USA warranty eligibility. (Canadian models use the XAC designation.) So I was able to confirm I had a model covered by a USA warranty, and so can now register on-line to Samsung USA. Thanks Newegg!

Nice Monitor!
Pros: This is temporarily plugged into the VGA port of my Toshiba laptop while I'm ordering parts for a new computer. Even at low resolution (1024x768) and no DVI connection this thing is awesome. Can't wait to get it hooked up right.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I've been ordering a bunch of computer parts lately and Newegg has been flawless in processing my orders. Thanks!

Great monitor
Pros: Huge, HDCP support, no dead pixels, no blurring or ghosting, good color representation.
Cons: I didn't get two.
Other Thoughts: This is a great buy for the price. I plan on getting another one in a few months. There is backlight bleed, but it's really very mild. I've seen much worse. I'd say this one has less than most I've seen.

Awesome Monitor!
Pros: This is a great monitor! Image is beautiful and refesh is really fast. With rebate it's on par price wise with some 19" monitors and give you much more real estate.
Comes with both analog and DVI cables in box.
Cons: Some backlght bleed at top and bottom of monitor for bacl screens, but to be expected with lesser expensive LCDs. Honestly, I didn't really notice it for almost 2 weeks after I hooked it up.
HAve to run at native resolution. Windows fonts with scaling from 1200 x 800 (laptop hookup) just doesn't look right.
Other Thoughts: Newegg was super fast! I had the monitor within a day and a half of ordering it!

First Impressions
Pros: What an amazing piece of hardware; sharp text, lifelike color, huge display real estate. Plus the plastic is strong and sleek, and it just oozes coolness; the pictures dont do it justice. After a week long search, I found this lcd monitor to be the best value given Samsung's reputation as a quality display maker. No dead pixels, no ghosting, no backbleed! Newegg ROX
Cons: None yet

A Fistful of Backlight Bleed
Pros: Great height adjustment and very nice looking design. Affordable, esp when your good monitor dies and you need something to hold you over.
Cons: Risk of wasting your money because of a bad panel.
Other Thoughts: Agree with edgewise, I didn't bother to try to replace this panel because the quality of these types of LCD panels are so bad, the viewing angles are terrible, a solid color extending high, (but not even full screen) is a total gradient -looking dead straight at the screen even!, and forget about standing up and looking down at the screen, total whiteout. sit down on a lower chair to watch a show, totally oversaturated. This technology is just terrible to fuss over the fist sized backlight bleed I have on the left side my panel. Can't return it anyway, its a backlight defect or something, its more than just the top/bottom, this is something that either happened from shipping or is just a defect. So, forget dead pixel risk, what if you get a fist sized bleed in the mid section of the panel? It is really noticeable on anything that is dark and sometimes I can see it on other things, TN type is so flawed technically that this thing is really just SurvivaL for me until I get money.

Pros: Big, vibrant colors, very appealing design.
Cons: As many have mentioned, there is a considerable amount of backlight bleeding on black screens. It is, however, pretty much unnoticeable during regular use.
Other Thoughts: This monitor is great, I ordered a second one to replace my other 19" a day after getting it; can't wait until it gets here.

HDCP-Compliant, but is a 'Grey Market' product...
Pros: HDCP-compliant (despite no listing of that spec here); no dead pixels; great image quality with just a few adjustments; very sturdy, fully adjustable base; UPS shipped it on time with no damage (has really protective factory box).
Cons: NO USA WARRANTY! Warranty only good if purchased and used in Canada!
Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research on widescreen LCDs to find the best sizes/manufacturers/models before choosing this one and so far I'm very happy with it and would like to keep it... PROVIDING NEWEGG GIVES ME THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY ADVERTISED OR SENDS ME A NEW USA MODEL!

Samsung 225BW
Pros: HUGE screen for the price, crisp picture, also the style of the monitor is clean - flat black with blue power light, power light blinks when monitor shuts off on its own.
Cons: None.

Pros: Size, if you have never had a 22" before, check em out, i got this thing the other day and was amazed at how big a 22" really is
Cons: its a bit heavy but thats to be expected for the monitor of that size
Other Thoughts: everyone is saying backlight bleeding is a big con, really all LCD's have backlight bleeding to some excent but the size for the price, i dont think its that much of an issue

Great Monitor
Pros: A beautiful display, adjustable height.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I'm not sure what people are talking about with the back light bleed issue, maybe I'm not experiencing this because I bought a quality DVI cable and not using the cheap cable that came with it. I'm about to buy a second one a this price

Awesome
Pros: Very bright and crisp picture. I have no dead pixels and had to do no adjusting to the monitor to make it look amazing. No ghosting at all.
Cons: Had to install the drivers with old monitor hooked up then hook up new one to get it to work. Not a horrible con and only took a few minutes to fix but may confuse someone who isnt that bright :). Not enough of a problem to make it down.

SAMSUNG IS THE BEST
Pros: samsung the flat panel leader and newegg the internet store leader..
Cons: zero
Other Thoughts: oh i know for sure samsung makes the best flat panels.. but i had to RMA this one without ever taking it out of the box because it was the wrong size.. newegg agreed the specs were improperly listed and is giving me a full refund.. i just want to say that newegg has always given me the benefit of any doubt and i would not shop anywhere else unless i had to..

bad luck
Pros: swivel, height and tilt adjustment, not bad for the price, but read my other thoughts below
Cons: got a defective item: when the monitor is on for some time, a white one pixel width vertical line appears in the middle of the screen and remains there even if the computer is shut down and disconnected, waiting for replacement, hoping for better luck
Other Thoughts: 22 inch monitor actually needs higher than 1680x1050 resolution, which is common now in 20 inch monitors, so if you consider buying a 22 inch monitor look for higher resolution

GREAT SCREEN
Pros: great size. clean look. nice stand.
Cons: can only see back bleed on a black screen and only for an inch or so from the top and bottom, but VERY easy to live with. maybe compairable to diamondtron lines.

Why did I wait so long?
Pros: This is a fantastic monitor! I went straight from one of those bulky old school tube monitors to this and I can't believe I waited so long. I use it for my semi-professional photography and the pictures look great (very helpful in editing). And I LOVE playing Medival Total War with the widescreen. Everything looks so much better! And New Egg delivered amazingly fast!
Cons: While the screen is visible at a pretty steep side angle, I do notice that if I am watching a slide show or video while not sitting directly in front of the monitor, the brightness notably fades on the image. But turning the monitor mostly solves this problems.
Other Thoughts: Amazing monitor.

So bad I'm shocked it's a Samsung
Pros: it was $289 and Newegg offered me a full refund. I don't think I saw any dead pixels
Cons: This monitor was terrible. I was practically speechless after I started using it. The bleed comes in from all sides and extends at least 5-8mm if not a full 15mm if the brightness is up relatively high. The colors represented onscreen vary from one side to the other. e.g. for a beige framed window (like in firefox) the right side of the monitor will show solid beige while the left will show a blue tinge making it look almost purple. The WinXP splash screen that should be fairly solid blue, shows up as purple in the lower left corner. Sections of the screen in solid color will look blocky and smudged. I've adjusted all settings, reseated cables, installed drivers... nothing would fix it.
Other Thoughts: Again, I was so disappointed in it that I will not return it for a replacement. My next monitor will not be a Samsung which, based on prior comments and reputation I spent extra to buy this one instead of a Scepter or some other unknown brand. Also, this isn't my first LCD, I've got a Dell 20" and a 37" LCD TV as well and both of those have none of the issues this Samsung did.

very happy so far
Pros: I haven't had a single problem. I'm a gamer and this is my first LCD; I was worried about performance. I'm telling the truth when I say I haven't had a single negative issue to date. I ran every dead pixel test I could find. Images are clean and crisp.
Cons: It's hard for me to list the backlight bleed as a con. It's only noticeable when the screen is completely black.
Other Thoughts: Great product. I will buy Samsung again.

I love this
Pros: I've owned this monitor for 6 months or so, with no issues. No dead pixels still. Quite happy with it for the low price!
Cons: Backlight bleeding, as others have noticed. But for programming/gaming this is not an issue

Wow, huge screen real estate!
Pros: Just received this unit for my birthday. It is replacing a 17" lcd panel. Nothing but good things so far. I've looked at these in the stores and always said, "maybe someday". Well, here it is and all I can say is WOW!! Big improvement.
Cons: None as of yet.
Other Thoughts: My onboard video chip was capable of displaying the native resolution properly. I will have to upgrade to and actual seperate video card. I guess it is time for that though.

An Excellent Monitor
Pros: Good price/performance ratio. Backlight bleed very minimal. Easy to use adjustment controls. Excellent Height adjustable stand. The design of this monitor is strikingly simple. I think it is one of the nicest looking monitors out there.
Cons: My monitor initially showed a large (6-7") round area in the middle of the screen that appeared to be backlight bleed. Before returning the monitor for replacement I tried applying slight pressure to the area with my finger, and immediately the bleed disappeared wherever I pressed. So with just gentile pressure in the affected area I was able to eliminate the problem completely. Even a black desktop or screensaver appears very black, and only a very slight amount of backlight bleed is visible.
Other Thoughts: I'm using a Geforce 3 card with DVI to drive this monitor. Certainly not great for gaming, but for office apps and internet it works fine. Download the latest Forceware drivers from nVidia and in the installation folder is a text file titled Modes. This lists all of the resolutions supported by the various nVidia products. If your card supports a resolution higher than 1680 X 1050(most do) you should be good to go with the card you already have. I am using Windows XP/ Service pack 2 and even with my lowly Geforce 3 card, the 1680 X1050 option was available from within the nVidia Control Panel. People complain about the blinking power light when in standby mode, but the power light is probably an eighth of an inch in diameter! Come on people! Don't make everything into such a big deal! This is a very nice monitor at a very nice price, and for the average user it will be a nice purchase.

overall a good display
Pros: high resolution (when it works, read cons), good brightness and contrast, ghosting and back light bleed through are minimal, and its BIG - almost as big as 2 17" lcd's side-by-side
Cons: i could not get it to run 1680x1050 on dvi!!! it worked fine on analog but would only go up to 1280x768 on dvi, i tried 4 or 5 different drivers with the same result
Other Thoughts: i just sold it and bought a 226bw because of the resolution issue, otherwise i would have kept it, its a great monitor for a pretty good price, i only own samsung monitors and this is one of the reasons why.

Pros: A very good screen for the price, and the widescreen was defintely worth it. Controls are simple and easy to use.
Cons: The vertical viewing angle is awful, much worse than my old 19" Samsung.
Other Thoughts: Despite the viewing angle, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to buy a new widescreen LCD.

Teh 22" phew
Pros: The thing has massive real estate, it barely fit in the monitor cubby of my desk with maybe a cm of space left over... PERFECT :) As for the backlight bleeding, if you have ever owned an LCD monitor - you would know there is bleeding. If that is your problem, dish out $1500 and go buy a plasma to hook up to your system.
Cons: None so far, will update if some come along.
Other Thoughts: Huge, very bright (I played around the with the settings for like 2 hours until I was satisfied), tons of settings to adjust for your liking, received 2 days after ordering (NEWEGG roxxors), having a stand that is adjustable is a must, 0 Dead pixels, have tried out WoW, BF2, Fear, Unreal, and more and they are all amazingly better.

Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Bought for work as 2nd monitor for a Dell. I like this monitor better than monitor which came with the Dell

22 inches of widescreen lovin'
Pros: Excellent Price, Great Warranty even on the backlight, all necessary cables included in the box, Magicbright presets are useful, Screen is very crisp and clear with DVI and native resolution. Excellent for Gaming with zero ghosting!
Cons: Purchased this same model at a local retailer. The first one had 2 dead pixels and the backlight was dim using DVI on an 8800GTS. The second display that I have now is flawless. Initially it had a "stuck" red pixel, that was very easily resolved with moderate pressure and rubbing. Stuck pixels can occur on any TFT LCD, this one was likely due to shipping as they lie on their face with a large cushion and styrofoam providing protection. I have another other Samsung LCD (19 inch) that was slightly higher quality. Don't get me wrong, this display is fantastic for the price and IMO cannot currently be beaten.
Other Thoughts: Due to the issues with the two dead pixels and the poor backlight on the first unit, I consider it a good value in its pricerange, features and warranty. Not all manufacturers cover the backlight; Samsung does! On this particular display, the backlight bleed is nominal for other displays in its price range and size. Buy it now, its great!

Great LCD
Pros: blazing fast 5ms GTG, super rich color and vivid clarity. 700:1 contrast and .28 pixel, and more. very good looking, minimalistic. dynamic monitor with great option features.
Cons: the TN panel doesn't offer the greatest viewing angles. the back light bleed is noticeable. but only on all black screens. and i saw a blue line going down the monitor, but i hit the monitor with my fist and it went away lol i dunno what that was all about.
Other Thoughts: for the money you're NOT going to find a BETTER monitor. if you want an amazingly beautiful LCD on a budget this is the monitor of your dreams.

Very Pleased
Pros: This monitor looks great running in its native resolution (1680x1050). The color is crisp and the response time in games is great. I never knew that a game could look so good until I got this widescreen.
Cons: Others talk about the backlight bleeding around the edges, but for me it's minimal. Maybe they've fixed it with newer models of this monitor. The only time I notice the bleeding is when I have a black backround, and even then it's not that bad. I don't notice it at all in any games (first person, third person, Action and RPG)
Other Thoughts: It's big, it's light and it looks great. I can't speak for its lifespan since I've only had it a couple weeks, but everything else about it is great.

Best 22.5" LCD for the cash
Pros: Super huge resolution. You'll need a decent video card to play today's games on this thing with settings to make it look pretty. I purchased an open item from NewEgg, and it's superb. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, no defects or marks of any kind. I swear, it's probably the one they open to take photos of for the site! :P
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: At first I was wary of getting a widescreen monitor that didn't match one of the HDTV standards (720i/p, 1080i/p), because I wasn't sure how many games would support odd resolutions. Turns out more games that I would have thought support the 1680x1050 resolution. All of my favorite games support this resolution, and the ones that don't support widescreen can still be played at lower resolutions, like 1280x1024. Be prepared to see the game stretched, though. If you have a widescreen HDTV, you'll get used to this monitor fast.

Great Monitor
Pros: I really like this monitor. Which having said that seems redundant since I gave it a good rating... Anyway, I've definitely ruined myself from smaller less cool monitors
Cons: There is a bit of light bleed but honestly it comes down to how picky you are about such things.

Great for the price
Pros: This is a great monitor for the price. Text is sharp and legible at small fonts. There is no ghosting with games and video, and there are no dead pixels. The stand is very versatile and includes height adjustment, unlike the 226bw which is replacing this model.
Cons: Slight backlight bleed, not very noticeable, not a problem for me. Would have liked a silver bezel color model but I don't really mind.
Other Thoughts: Get this model while you can!

Pros: I love this monitor, especially the height adjustment. I am a very tall person and I dont have to hunch over to use this monitor.
Cons: None really, just turn the brightness down to 30 and the contrast down to 75. The factory has the settings way to high

Nice
Pros: Has a nice picture, no ghosting on any game or movie, played FEAR, BF2, BF2142, CS:S, DoD:S, Doom3 and GRAW with no problems. You really can't go wrong with this product. Very nice resoultion, and makes movies look crisp and clear. The Magictune program is really nice, the presets aren't bad, and it's a lot easier to make adjustments than with the monitor menu.
Cons: There is a little white light bleed though on the top and bottom but its barely noticable, and you can only really see it when your watching a widescreen movie. After time, the bleed through isn't as bad.
Other Thoughts: Can't really enjoy the FULL effect of this monitor, because of my video card lol.

6 months old now
Pros: Still outstanding monitor with no issues. Price is coming down now and will be buying a second one.
Best monitor I've ever owned and I've been into pc's since 1984.
Cons: I'd forgotten about th slight slight bleedthough at the top and bottom until I read the reviews again.
Other Thoughts: It's a real buy at this price.

Great product!
Pros: This monitor is awesome. Just bought it the end of January, and its unbelievable! Picture is so clear, and its almost overwhelming in size...which is good in my opinion!
Cons: Was a little hard to get the pin out of the back to change the height, thought it might break when doing so, also only 2 height settings. Not that it really makes a difference when buying this great product though.

semi low quality, but cheap
Pros: C H E A P and BIG, slim profile, blue LED...
Cons: TONS of light leakage around top and bottom of monitor, VERY noticeable on black screen, DVI chip must be messed up because anytime I use DVI on my G5 or my PC it has green pixels that flash randomly around the screen, but this does not happen using VGA, ALSO monitors blue light will blink constantly, even if there is no signal to monitor
Other Thoughts: DONT BUY if you need a precise monitor that shows things Accurately ...BUY IT if all you care about is cost and size

Wonderful
Pros: I bought two of these and I am using them side by side for 40" of monitor. They work great. Four applications at once without ALT TAB. Using a 7600GT video card with two DVI outputs. Have not seen a dead pixel on either monitor. Stable even at full height adjustment.
Cons: None at this time.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg Rocks on shipping and service. Have not tried any high demand games yet to provide feedback.

Good Image
Pros: Monitor is great compared to the "17 LCD monitor I had, The picture quality is unbelievable and hugh.
Cons: A little backlight bleedthrough but not enough to really concern me.
Other Thoughts: For the price, it is a great deal, Newegg has always had the lowest prices on everything electronic I have purchased for years.

Pros: I am extremely happy with this monitor. It has infinite adjustability with the included software and the image it produces is great. An added bonus is that you can use it as a 720p television, that alone is astounding. Great value, great picture no problems whatsoever.
Cons: Some people complain about the backlight bleed which I do see very faintly but it really doesn't interrupt normal viewing.

Using DVI on older cards
Pros: Height adjustable stand, 5 preset modes for type of content being viewed, brightness and contrast capability ample to overcome very bright room lighting, very sharp text.
Cons: Typical low off axis viewing angles of TN panels. Some video noise evident in DVD playback.
Other Thoughts: A challenge to get working on DVI with older nVidia cards because Samsung timing parameters (EDID) for DVI appear to be essentially the same as for analog D-sub connection. Had a prior 20 inch widescreen sync on DVI at 1680x1050 using a Geforce FX 5200 but the 225BW didn't want to sync at native 1680x1050 60Hz and fell back to 1280x1024. Knew the card could do 1680x1050. Discovered the prior 20 inch was synching to VESA timings for 1680x1050 digital connection but the 225BW EDID spec'd VESA analog timing for DVI also and, in fact, an FX 5200 won't do the analog timing on DVI. Tried using Powerstrip to set timing to VESA digital but wouldn't work. Then tried setting a custom timing through nVidia control panel and it sync'd up. In NV control panel spec 1680x1050 60Hz refresh and Pixel Clock 119MHz, but only if your card is spec'd to handle 1600x1200. New Egg is a model business. Others take a lesson! Samsung support where are you - been waiting a month!

Good for the price
Pros: Bright and sharp image; good colors Great height/tilt adjustment Both VGA and DVI cables included Beautiful matte black finish. Nice design.
Cons: Included driver/software doesn't work on Vista. Driver can be updated online, but no Vista software available yet. One stuck pixel (Samsung will only replace if you have 17!)
Other Thoughts: If you are new to widescreen: beware that most older video cards (low-end cards 3+ years old) don't support it native resolution. I learned this the hard way and is waiting for upgrade to my NVidia FX 5200 to arrive from newegg

Great Screen!
Pros: Very Large; crisp colors; sharp images; plenty bright; fast response time for video/games. Wide enough to fit two open windows: perfect for multitasking. Looks cool; adjust tilt and height with almost no effort; has both Analog and Digital inputs. No screen size hassles with the "Auto Adjust" feature. Uses much less electricity than a CRT. Easy on the eyes. Easy to press front buttons. Fairly lightweight for its immense size. Comparatively inexpensive. No imperfections of any kind upon delivery.
Cons: Backlight is barely noticeable, but noticeable. Some games are "iffy" with the 1650 X 1080 maximum resolution, (but who plays games on resolutions that high anyway). Initial colors were a bit off, but the included software produces natural and vibrant colors.
Other Thoughts: At first I was skeptical of some of the crazy reviews I read on this product, boasting "terrible" backlight bleeding, and dead pixels, and poor stand quality. I have no problem with the slight brightness around the edges of the screen caused by the backlight, and have not had any problems with dead pixels. The stand is not really flimsy, just fully adjustable, so what slight wobble people felt was really the mechanisms adjusting to a new screen orientation. I have had this screen for a few months now; it turns on quick, looks great when it's on, and has had no problems whatsoever. But then again, maybe I was the "only" lucky one in the many thousands of buyers who got the "good" screen.

Great
Pros: Great Monitor. I use it as a second monitor with my Sony laptop. My Sony has a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics card...it's 6 years old. The installed driver was stretching everything on the new monitor which defeated the purpose of having a widescreen. So I fired up Google and found that an Omega 6.5 driver from solves the problem.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Overall, waited a long time and did a lot of research...very happy with this monitor.

Awesome!
Pros: BIG, low price, high build quality, great color reproduction, no ghosting
Cons: Slight backlight bleedthrough at bottom of screen but it is only noticeable with a fully black screen so I don't see it as a problem.
Other Thoughts: I was not a happy camper when my 21" CRT died but now, I'm glad that it did. It probably weighed 60 pounds and was the size of a small boulder. This monitor is well made, huge (but not obtrusive) and the picture is beautiful. The backlight bleed is a non-issue for me as it is absolutely not noticeable when the monitor is in use. I would recommend this monitor to anyone but the most diehard of purists.

10 eggs!
Pros: *no dead pixels on arrival -- none to be seen so far. *picture quality is amazing, and it is amazingly bright. *IT IS HUGE! *IT IS CHEAP! *the monitor itself is solid, as expected of samsung. *easy settings and easy installation. *no ghosting whatsoever. *sumpreme commander, wow, graw2, nfsCarbon, command&conquer 3 demo, and many others plays with ease and beauty.
Cons: *there is a little backlight bleeding on the top and bottom of the screen, but it is so minor, it shouldn't worry you.
Other Thoughts: i should get two more...

WOW!!
Pros: This monitor is HUGE! compared to my 17! Im glad I bought this monitor last night! I came home, saw a few movies, messed around with the settings ect, works great! I get alot of work space with my photoshop, flash, illustrator, ect. Its amazing, 16.7 millions colors, really does make a difference. I havent played games on it yet, but I will try later tonite possibly.
Cons: The install disk isnt an auto install disk, which I had to install the drivers manually, which wasnt much of a pain, but eh, its there. With photoshop, I had to reinstall it because the program couldnt read the size specifications which where to the MAX, and I knew this would happen, but, the top part does bleed slightly, but its mainly unoticable after a while.
Other Thoughts: Kinda figured that this screen wouldnt give me the windows xp glossy look, only because I have a 32 bit XP Pro, and not the 64 Bit XP Pro which this monitor would of worked better for. But other than that, im not fussing. Thanks newegg!
