Pros: Huge screen! Not sure what panel I got but the colors look great. Great value for a monitor of this size and quality so I bought 2, one for me and one for the wife.

Cons: Limited tilt. My wife's desk is raised in the middle and that put the monitor too high, so she was seeing a dark band across the top. Ended up buying a wall mount that solved the problem, would have happened with any LCD screen.

Other Thoughts: Makes a great display for an Xbox360 when paired with a good speakers.

Rating + 3 Usable After Calibration


Pros: The image is crisp and the refresh rate is good. Overall I'm willing to accept the monitor's performance after the battles described below, but I would have returned this LCD if it weren't for Newegg's non-refundable policy. It's a good monitor for gaming and casual use.

Cons: I got a monitor with a 3rd-party panel (mine was made by AU Optronics) that clearly isn't the best of the best. I frequently process photos and I was very disappointed with the color fidelity of the monitor. A friend loaned me his Spyder2, which was able to configure the monitor in a much more accurate way.

I sometimes see a strange, inverted-ghosting effect in certain situations, as if the display is overcompensating to improve its refresh speed. It's not too distracting, though.

Other Thoughts: If you plan to use this monitor for anything that requires color accuracy, you should add the cost of a Spyder2express to your budget. If you get a non-Samsung panel, you will need it. A better idea, however, is simply to look elsewhere.

Pros: This is best monitor ever. If you use DC u get hightest 3000:1 contrest. 2ms for best respod time!! best for games. and Best price ever. I do not know what monitor can beat this monitor.

Pros: As a pro gamer (mostly FPS) I can certify this monitor as very comparable monitor to my previous 1800x1400 21" CRT. I don't notice any blurring in fast-moving scenes. Color contrast is excellent. Everyone who sees my screen loves it.

Cons: After having it for 6 months I've noticed a pixel or two sometimes be a little slow to change colors (goes away once monitor has been on for a bit). The only real downside to this monitor is that it doesn't view well if you're viewing it below it's vertical axis (dark images can be hard to find detail in). However, as long as you sit with your head at or above the middle of the monitor, you'll be fine.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has proved to be a very reliable computer hardware vendor.

Pros: The images are wonderful! The size is huge! The response is perfect for gaming! The cost is great for the quality you get!

Cons: No cup holder/ashtray(just kidding). If only lcd had adjustable refresh rates.(Refresh=frames per second)

Other Thoughts: This thing rules!Huge monitor at a very fair price. Not sure which panel I got but who cares looks great right outta the box. didnt adjust anything. If I knew how to see panel model info I would post it. This is way better than older standered samsung 19inch lcd it replaced. Ill never use standard over wide again.I like it so much I just ordered 50 inch sammy plasma from newegg(gotta love tax returns)newegg rules(except for tax in TN hehe;dang tax is a double edge sword hehe). Do yourself a favor and buy it along with a real fast graphics card cause even good graphics card cant hang at these resolutions.

Other Thoughts: This is a terrific value for a 22" LCD. I was coming from a big bulky 21" CRT so I'm very happy with it. I just got the rebate today. Remember it will take up to 12 weeks to receive it, so be patient. Love it and love Newegg!

Pros: Great contrast, 3000:1 dynamic, 2ms response time makes for a very noticeable difference in gaming, you become more accurate and notice mouse response and keyboard response as well.

Cons: No HDMI in, hard to see tweaking buttons.

Other Thoughts: If your interested in a great value monitor this is the one. Try and find another monitor thats 2ms response time and 1680X1050 resolution for the same price, i couldn't, buy this.

Rating + 5 Another Samsung Work of Art


Pros: Samsung continues to amaze with the 226BW. This was a step up from my 2 year old 20" Samsung 205BW (previous generation SyncMaster) and the difference is very clear. Previously, I had legitimate grievances in two areas: black levels and ghosting (refresh rate). I can safely say that those two things are now a thing of the past. Movies and games are much more visible in dark scenes thanks to the increased contrast ratio, and refresh rates are comparable to standard CRT monitors.

Cons: When I got it out of the box and fired it up for the first time, the colors looked a little funky - the white level and the red level was off by a bit, but after using it for a bit, it seemed to fix itself.

Other Thoughts: This monitor is obviously not the cheapest, but 1000+ 5 egg reviewers can't be wrong. If you're in the market for a new monitor, this is the one. It's worth every penny.

Rating + 4 I liked this monitor so much I bought two.


Pros: Plays all my games without any ghosting and it almost seems like you can dive right into the monitor. Once you have your video output correctly calibrated, this monitor looks fantastic. Compared to my 22' VX1120 CRT, the Samsung looks so much better, the difference is unbelievable. Bought the Samsung for my wife and I liked it so much I bought one for myself. EXTREMELY bright!

Cons: Viewing angle is not very good. You have to be pretty much at eye level with this monitor. If you have a shelf where your current monitor sits, you might want to consider removing the shelf, or setting the monitor on a lower surface. The monitor WILL NOT TILT forward past 90 degrees. It will tilt backward.

Not much of a con, but the backlight bleeds through around the edges of the screen. The bleed doesn't matter to me because the only time I see the bleed is when I start my computer. I don't notice it at all any other time. So what everybody else says about the bleed through is true.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a system capable of displaying all your games and other software in the native resolution or you might as well not get the monitor. My system can't run EQ2 with all the details turned way way up, even with a Nvidia GT9600. My wife's new computer X38, E6750, 2GB 1200mhz DDR2, GT9600 runs EQ2 like a scalded dog. Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm specing out a new computer for me because I want it to look as good as hers. Yes, it made me jealous!

Pros: Its huge! I love this thing, no dead pixels, looks sweeeeeeeeet! great response time! perfect for gaming!

Cons: Hmm.. I still have to calibrate the colors a bit better, hard to get it down right. There is a bit of backlight bleed on the top, but it doesnt really bother me. The two programs included on the disc didn't work on my build. (hence me still trying to calibrate the settings to find my sweet spot) almost too bright.

Pros: what a great monitor. no dead pixels. sturdy enough base. some complain about it shaking. come on, who really moves their monitor. if you try and shake it, yes it shakes. under normal use, it won't move. very nice wide screen, just make sure your you vid card supports the increased resolution. (i think it's 1900x1200, but don't quote me)

Cons: took a few tried to find out the correct source had to be input. as with most documentation translated/printed/made "elsewhere" some things are forgotten or lost in translation.

Pros: This monitor is beautiful! It is sleek and the picture looks excellent. I play Call of Duty 4, and the picture looks amazing on this monitor. Highly recommended.

Cons: Not really a con regarding the product itself, but I just got a letter from the Samsung rebate center telling me this product is not a viable for a refund. Ummmm...either Newegg.com is lying or Samsung is, and I doubt Newegg would lie!

Pros: Great Monitor. The fast response time makes it a great monitor for gaming. I have a 360 hooked up via VGA cables and looks great. I also play CS:S, TF2, Supreme Commander, religiously and it looks great!!!

I also have plenty of room for my code / IMs / iTunes with the great screen size.

Cons: I had to upgrade my computer to make it worthy of sitting by this monitor. The only real con about the monitor is the viewing angle. The colors start to go fairly quickly when you're not looking directly at it... but that's not exactly a hard fix (move monitor slightly).

Other Thoughts: Configuring the monitor took a little bit, but at the same time I probably would have spent the same amount of time tweaking anything.

Pros: Please see Other Thoughts.

Cons: Backlight bleeding at both sides. Noticeably uneven luminance distribution. Vertical viewing angle is pretty bad. It may concern you if you plan to occasionally look at the monitor from a lower angle (e.g. watching a movie from the bed).

Other Thoughts: It's not that a bad monitor for non-professional use but you really want to go with newer SAMSUNG 2253BW instead. In a nutshell, it offers more for practically the same price. From my 2253 review:

"If you're choosing between Samsung 226BW and Samsung 2253BW, 2253BW is definitely a much better pick. Better contrast. Better luminance distribution. Thinner frame (viewable areas are identical). Less power consumption. Noticeably improved horizontal viewing angle."

Pros: Great picture quality.
Excellent refresh rate (2ms)
Had some trouble getting the correct resolution to work under Ubuntu.
Minor flickering when the cables are near other power cables, but that's easily sorted out.

Cons: After 3 months of trying to receive my rebate from Samsung, I still have no luck.
1st attempt, they said I didn't include the receipt. (which I did)
2nd attempt, they said the UPC code wasn't included. That was because it was included in the first submission.

Don't count on receiving your rebate.

Pros: This is a really nice LCD display. I have it running at 1680 x 1050 resolution and the type fonts are very clear. There is a lot of real estate to use. Gaming is very deluxe so far, with no movement trails noted.

Cons: Not really a con, but it BARELY fit into my computer cabinet. The screen is 20.25 inches wide and 16-5/8 inches high with the mounting base included.

Pros: Upgrading from a 17" Dell and let me tell you this thing is sweeet! Going from CRT to LCD I was like what was I thinking using the CRT and now using the Samsung I am like why was I using a Dell?! If you are looking to upgrade then Samsung rocks, this is the clearest picture I have encountered. I wanted a 24" but because of funds I settled for the 22" but now that I have it I don't think of it as settling. This is a 2ms screen, no ghosting, great for games, no bad pixels, vibrant colors. Some mention the setup of the configuration is all out of whack. Mine straight out of the box is perfect no problems. Also nice to what movies on.

Cons: The only issue I encountered was when I first opened the box I put the stand on the monitor first thing. When I went to plug in the DVI cable I found I had to remove the stand then plug the cable in and reinstall the stand.

Just remember cables first! No big deal.

Other Thoughts: If you can get this with the rebate then go for it. This is already a good price but with the rebate its like an early birthday except with out the wrinkles yay!

Pros: This monitor replaces an old Sony 17" LCD. That aside, this monitor is outstanding. The clarity is incredible. There is a bit of light bleed on a black screen but it is very subtle for an LCD. Contrast is great, blacks are black and the colors are vibrant. You will need to do some tweaking to get it the way you want. The included software is pretty simple to use (albeit a bit slow) and it gets the picture looking good. I studied monitors for months before I decided and this is by far the best in this price range. Newegg got it here quick as always. No dead pixels!

Cons: I need a new desk.

Other Thoughts: The stand does not have a height adjustment but it seems to sit just right without it.

Pros: Big, much lighter than a CRT, no dead pixels with awesome image quality. (With a rebate ... and it's pretty, but I digress).

Cons: Doesn't run well with Ubuntu Linux. In my Windows XP partition it was necessary to install the Samsung drivers that came with (either using IE, the only browser supported, or Explorer to run the setup file). After that it runs perfectly in Windows. Since the drivers are not Linux compatible (have not tried with Mac yet), will need to do additional tweaking to have it run at optimum resolution.

Other Thoughts: Note: A few people have mentioned issues with the color being off, this was not an issue with mine. I did notice, however, when I first opened it (and after the driver install) that the colors seemed to merge together (like running your finger over wet paint) in Windows. After using the auto adjust button (first button beside the power button) this was immediately fixed and I haven't needed to use it since. Tried this in Ubuntu as well, as even though there was no color issue the resolution was less than optimum and the viewing size was not as large as the screen. The auto adjust did make it fill the screen, but again different tweaking is required to fix the resolution. (Recommend visiting your local Linux forum for this.)

Pros: Fast response, ghosting is very very low for FPSers, very decent viewing angle, great brightness, very sharp, and very very low light reflection very nice if its in a room that has lights on at times.

Cons: absolutely none, well mybe price, but not really with this kind of quality.

Other Thoughts: Low reflection impressed me the most.
If you are a gamer or a graphic editor this is the perfect screen.

Pros: Beautiful picture even though I'm using it hooked up with D-Sub. The stand is sturdy, and is very easy to assemble and remove, but the best part of the stand is the swivel. This product is very light weight - weighs less than my 21" LCD at work. I also noticed that it has mounting holes if you want to put it on the wall (although no HDMI or component inputs). Not a lot of edge space is wasted by framing which rocks and the plastic has a high gloss shine. Had zero dead pixels on arrival. You can't beat the 2ms response time. Great monitor!

Cons: Out of the box settings don't provide the best picture, you may have to play with the settings a bit. Some light bleeds in from the top and bottom, but has not really been an issue.

Other Thoughts: The price is a steal of a deal for this product and Newegg shipping was quick as always. If you are looking for a large format LCD that looks great in both D-Sub or DVI-D (HDCP) this is it.

Pros: Beautiful. This monitor has bright, clear colors. I haven't noticed any ghosting effects at all in games like CoD4. It's also HUGE (well not really, but going from a 17" CRT, it's a big difference) so there's lots of landscape to work with.

Cons: None that I've seen.

Other Thoughts: Bought this monitor because my 17" CRT was fading fast and I was upgrading to my new rig (E8400, EVGA 780i, 2x EVGA 9600 GT SSC's, 4gb ram) so I wanted to be able to take advantage of higher resolutions, and I was in dire need of a new monitor ;)

Rating + 4 Good, but a few quirks


Pros: Great size, and the colour isn't too bad. For the price, it's a great deal.

Cons: It's too bright for me, even after tweaking it severely. I've adjusted everything I can to dim it while still retaining full shading capabilities, but my sensitive eyes aren't adjusting to this puppy too well yet.

While watching movies, there is backlight bleed. Not a problem during normal use though, because my menu bar and dock are both light.

While the colour isn't bad looking, I can still notice that it is a TN panel while doing some work.

Other Thoughts: Compared to every other 22" in this price range, this is the best one that I've seen. Next time however, I'll spend the extra money on an H-IPS display, and I'll make sure I test the brightness better.

Pros: big, beautiful, vibrant color, good price, etc.

Cons: I get faint vertical banding offset to the right of any strong vertical edges, like window frames, etc. Six alternating dark/light bands over about 1/4 inch. Drives me nuts. Are others seeing this?? Is this a setup problem?

Pros: Once again newegg rescues a product.
When I got my first monitor the analog input did not work. All pixel were firing so I really thought about keeping the monitor. In the end I decided to RMA it. Next monitored arrived in 6 days everything working A-OK!!

Cons: Not worth the ink.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this one again in a hot flash. I have used it on many different cards with all sorts of resolutions. It's not failed me yet!!

Pros: Beautiful looking unit works wonderfully if you have do not have 8600 Nvidia GeForce GT card.

Cons: Does not work with Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT video card. Despite attempts at calibration with ColorVision Spyder. Photo images had very poor tonal separation. Blacks had cross hatch appearance up close. Worked with my the other Nvidia cards I had perfectly below the 8600 series.

Pros: Monitors are great. The picture is as crisp as Ive seen. I am running 2 of these dual View and have a ps3 as well as an xbox 360 elite Connected to each one. The picture is so immaculate that I can shoot people on COD4 Across the map without a scope because it is looks so crisp. Lag is a thing of the past.

Cons: Not really a Con but out of the box you will need to fiddle with the color to get the best possible picture.

Other Thoughts: Love this product and the price on these after the rebate considering the quality of these makes this a steal.

Rating + 5 Excellent Colors minor issues


Pros: This thing has excellent dynamic range. The colors are better than my 56" 1080P DLP. I was hesitant to switch to LCD since I've always owned CRT's for gaming. So far I'm very happy with the change. I didn't think I was missing any colors on my CRT, but as soon as I plugged it in, the difference was apparent. Makes BlueRays look great also.
This thing is huge compared to my 19" CRT.

Cons: There are a couple little items that I notice, but don't really care. The mouse pointer on screen "almost" has some ghosting (if that's what it's called). In other words lines dissipating to the right. You can just barely see it. One other thing. Some letters (just barely) have a red edge to them. You really have to look for it.

Pros: very good monitor. colors are nice and bright. easy setup. i ran the nvidia monitor display wizard and that was all it took to set it up. games and videos look great

Cons: the shiny black bezel around the edges can be a little too much if you have a light behind you (it shines on the border and its brighter than the monitor). other than that ive had no problems.

Other Thoughts: good monitor. if your lookin for a 22in monitor with good stats id totally suggest this monitor.

Pros: Nice large display, pretty good color reproduction, no dead pixels, no ghosting that I can detect, dual inputs w/ toggle button

Cons: light skin tones seem washed out compared to CRT, image unacceptable if you can't drive this thing at its native resolution (pretty much the situation for any flat panel)

Other Thoughts: Free shipping actually had it at my door step within a business day. Plugged it in and cranked my video card to the monitor's resolution and the display looks great. I had a few HD windows media demo movies from Microsoft's website and the monitor handled them without a problem. I'm coming from a 19" Sony Trinitron that I still consider the standard.. If not for the bulky size of the CRT, I'd still be using it. Still, this flatscreen looks great. Great color, crisp image. Had to crank down the brightness and contrast from the factor. I haven't tinkered too much with the correction software, but I have noticed that light skin tones wash out a bit (same as my laptop). Maybe the correction software will help. Have to say that this panel more than meets my expectations.

Pros: The LCD has a sharp picture and a sweet style. I replaced a 22" Gateway that ran at 8MS, I never thought the speed to be a big deal until I purchased this unit. In gaming it does make a difference.

Cons: None in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this at Best Buy because I had to have a screen the same day for work when my Gateway died. I am not a huge Best Buy fan now that they are so pricey but I had to have it so they got my cash.

I noticed a few folks commented on the base, I don't know what they are doing on their desk to make it wobble, I work on mine every day and don't have any wobble issues with this screen at all.

Pros: All worries were put to rest when I first powered this LCD on...No dead pixels, excellent picture...text is razor sharp, the color is outstanding; and I love the ease of switching configurations with MagicTune, as I like it a bit darker for reading and brighter for games, I play a LOT of Battlefield 2/2142 and COD4.

Cons: Wasn't cheap enough to afford 2.

Pros: gotta say, better than I expected it to be, switched from a trintron 21 inch crt to this bad boy, was afraid it would mess up my gaming but even in older games its a great moniter. as other people said it is bright, I mean even when you turn the settings down its still very bright, on newer games it rules though, and I'm not joking either, this is twice as crisp as my crt ever was, I would never consider going back.

Cons: well, the thing feels kind of flimsy for 300$ really, other than that everything is great

Pros: This product has a great picture. The controls are simple and intuitive, and it ran @ 1680x1050 like a champ.

Cons: I purchased this monitor in April 07 from newegg, and it died on me this morning (March 8th, 08). It didn't last a full year, and to me, that's inexcusable. It's in a well-cooled, open area, so it didn't overheat. It's on an APC battery, and there were no storms last night, so it wasn't killed by a spike or voltage fluctuations. It just croaked.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased several other Samsung monitors for my family members, from newegg and other vendors (seven in all). I am extremely disappointed to have spent, literally, thousands of dollars with Samsung over the years, only to give the much-heralded 226BW a chance & watch it crash and burn like a Japanese Zero, with no warning or external cause. While I understand that stuff happens, I can't accept spending $400 on a monitor that didn't last a year.

Pros: I have owned this monitor for 5 months and I love it. Bright, fast response rate. Beautiful.

Cons: After the 5 months I started having this problem where dark colors had rapidly changing brightness (relatively subtle), so I had my cousin bring over the same monitor (I recommended it to him) and he did not have the same problem. I called Samsung's tech support, told them the situation, and no questions asked they shipped me a new monitor and paid for the return shipping. Spent 5-10 minutes on the phone.

Other Thoughts: I had a problem with this specific monitor, but due to their amazing tech support, I highly recommend Samsung and their high rated products sold on newegg.

Pros: Big.excellent customer service by Newegg and Samsung. That is why I gave it a 3.

Cons: Monitor was dead. I sent it to Newegg and they couldn't do anything with it because there was no ups on the box. That is why I told them in the RMA but it is auto accept so I guess they did not know. The monitor would turn on and look pretty until 2 minutes went by then it would have all kinds of colored lines across the screen. I tested it on 2 different computers and the same thing happpened. On my computer I did buy a new video card and a new power supply thinking it could be one of those causing this issue but it wasn't, it was the monitor. As you can tell I am a bit frustrated at this point and my birthday present could have been a monitor that works.

Pros: NO dead pixels, thought i had one but it a piece of packing foam. image is very sharp and bright, the base swivels very smoothly, all the cables are tucked neatly behind the little panel thing. did i mention its 22 inches the space on the the screen is huge, great for final cut and premiere!

Cons: the panel that covers the connections is a little tricky to line up strait, only a problem if that stuff annoys you. and its not a 24 inch :( oh well

Pros: Monitor arrived in 3 days, as usual newegg is tops in shipping. The monitor offers a great viewing experience. No dead pixels and a great price!. I am using this with the Samsung 205BW in a dual display setup and both monitors have a great picture.

Cons: There is no height/tilt adjustment but it does not bother me.

Other Thoughts: If your interested in getting into the service menu, you can, by doing the following...
- Set contrast and brightness to 0
- Press the "Menu" button
- Press the "Source" button for 5 seconds (the second one on the right)

You will then get a menu with the manufactre's info.

Pros: Bright wide screen, DVI & VGA outputs.

Cons: Back cover is cheap where the cable connections are hidden. No height adjustments. Bleeds at top and bottom of screen.

Pros: I got the A panel and didn't even need to calibrate it. Great picture, right out of the box. It is a fantastic, so don't let the panel debate stop you from buying this.

Pros: This is a very, very, bright monitor

Cons: Not able to display darker shades such as a full screen movie or a dark screen saver without bleeds from the florescent tubes and black shades being displayed as shades of gray. Not sure if this was a glitch but it was returned regardless. I could actually see the fluoresce patterns in the plastic layers of the panel when I had it displaying dark shades, never seen that before...
Newegg rocks on returns!

Other Thoughts: I bought the 226BW to replace my 19" Samsung Syncmaster 910t
My Syncmaster 910t is able to display clear black shades and never had any complaints about its performance.

Rating + 4 Excellent monitor, may require some adjusting


Pros: The monitor has a nice large screen compared to the 19" Viewsonic VA1912WB that I upgraded from. When adjusted properly colors are nice and vibrant. This monitor is also very bright. Seems to do well with all different content (games, movies, etc.) after getting it tweaked.

Cons: Requires a bit of tweaking to look good. See "other thoughts".

Other Thoughts: You may have heard the controversy on this Samsung with the different S, A, C versions. I got one that was marked as an "A". It did seem to have a bit of bluish to it and I tried downloading one of the .icc profiles that was supposed to fix this and saw no difference. So I started flipping through the different presets. I happened to be looking at a picture of my car on the screen which has a very distinct color of red. It was looking way too purply due to that blue "push". As soon as I hit "movie" in the presets, the color changed to exactly what the right color is. So I copied down the RGB settings and went about making my own "custom" setting with those settings and adjusted the brightness/contrast with my Avia Home Theater test patterns DVD. The monitor looks beautiful now. My thoughts on the color were backed up when I went looking through other reviews here and found one by a photographer who had two A panels and noticed they looked good with similar settings to mine.

I compared to screenshots of other monitors and that info isn't in my menu. On the back of the monitor it does says it was made in China and it was manufactured in Jan of 2008.

Pros: The display on this monitor is second to none. If you like gaming and surfing the net this monitor is for you.

Pros: Great display with good colors. Easy to install, Vista ready. No dead pixels and very little bleeding.

Cons: The base is awful - it doesn't allow you to lift or rotate the monitor. Since the default height is very low, I had to put some books to lift it up. I know I should get one of those arms to better position the display, but it wouldn't hurt Samsung to add a better base (after all, it's just some cheap plastic).

Other Thoughts: This is a great display! I would definetly recommend it if you're looking for a good 22-inch widescreen.

Rating + 5 First monitor I've ever wanted to marry


Pros: -Bright Screen
-Fast response time
-Decent Price Point, especially considering the features
-NO ghosting
-Black is really BLACK, not just a dark gray.
-If you have to run it at non-native resolution, it still looks really awesome (no fuzzy edges on text).
-Its a Sammie (Samantha in my case), you KNOW your getting quality that lasts.

Cons: -Can a monitor be too bright? I cranked the brightness down to 85% to prevent retina burn-in.
-Wife will surely want a divorce when she finds out I'm engaged to my Sam(antha)sung monitor.
-I don't like the little silver lip at the bottom of the bezel.
-Does not have an integrated USB hub. Not a big deal, but my Dell 19" has it's one of my favorite features.

Other Thoughts: Easily the best monitor I've ever owned, or ever seen. I can't wait to hook it up to my soon-to-arrive Nvidia 8800GT. Obviously, if you decide to purchase this monitor, be prepared to spend lots of free time in your man-cave ooohing and aaahing over the screen.
One last thing..... NEWEGG RULES!!!

Pros: This is a wonderful monitor. Great picture, and the monitor itself looks great. The blue LED on the power button is great at night, it matches the LED in my computer case. I would highly recommend this one. I wouldn't trade mine for any other (of equal size of course) monitor I have seen. It didn't have ANY dead pixels (or is the proper term crystals for an LCD?) when it showed arrived which I was very happy to see, and it still doesn't.

Cons: I wish it would move up and down. But I knew it didn't when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: I used to have a Dell monitor, which was probably just as good, but not as nice looking. However it had PIP and could show two screens side by side, no idea what that is called, I wish this one had that. At the time I had the Dell I had no need for it, now I do and don't have it. No fault of this monitor of course, just something I wish it had.

Pros: I love this monitor, it is well worth the investment.

Cons: Minor Cons: limited adjustments for height and tilt, however it has not been a problem.

Other Thoughts: Even with limited adjustments, I still have an excellent time viewing DVD's, online video streaming has never been better, and game play viewing is godly.

Pros: Bright as anything with zero dead pixels. Sleek looking monitor with Samsung quality. I have the 206BW that was my primary monitor before I purchased this. I've been very happy the 206 which is what lead me towards the 226 and I'm glad I went with it. Samsung has very high quality LCD displays in both computers and HDTVs.

Pros: Great looking monitor and the colors are awesome after calibration.

Cons: Im sure people have heard about the three different panels that were used for these monitors. I received one of the lesser panels that had a blue dominanace, but after doing a calibration with some hardware such as Spyder2, this monitor was awesome.

Pros: Beautiful picture, great for gaming. If you monitor wobbles, tighten the base screw with a screwdriver. This drove me CRAZY for the first week.

Pros: This monitor is gorgeous! I was hesitant about going to a widescreen, but I must say, the switch was a great decision. There is no ghosting whatsoever in any of my games. Best of all, no dead pixels!! I love it!

Cons: Some bleeding at top of screen when fully black. This is to be expected and is not bad enough to take away a 5 rating.

Rating + 4 Pretty good ... A panel


Pros: Nice large 22" widescreen, no dead pixels, clean look, prompt shipping! (Newegg rocks: ordered on Sunday night, received on Tuesday afternoon)

Cons: Coloring is difficult to calibrate. Takes pressing adjustment buttons many, many times on the monitor itself in conjunction with painful tweaking of color sliders in video card software (and from what I've been reading online the past few days, for my 'A' panel, perfect calibration is likely impossible.)

Other Thoughts: Despite all the fuss about S-panels and A-panels, if you wind up with an A-panel it is not the end of the world. Though probably not adjustable (manually) to utterly perfect calibration, you can get pretty close so that you can't really tell. Note: probably not good for doing technical work on photos and video, but otherwise it's a good 2ms (for gaming) monitor

Pros: 22", no dead pixels. Bezel looks nice. Is decent to look at.

Cons: Beware: Before you buy research 226bw c panel. The results may surprise you. They certain surprised, and after my purchase, enraged me. Samsung does NOT make the lcd in this monitor except in the case of the S panel (which seems to only have ever made it into the hands of reviewers.)

Other Thoughts: Samsung sent the higher quality S-panels to reviewers and shipped customers only A and C panels. Both are inferior in ALL aspects to the S panel.

Golden sample. Bah.

On the up side if you're not picky it is a decent panel, just don't expect "Incredible" because you WILL be disappointed.

Pros: Big, wide. Pretty.

Cons: Really bad backlight bleed on all sides. Got it replaced by Samsung with another brand new one. Same issues. Not as bad, but def. still there. Waiting on a refurbished one. Hopefully that one works out better. Bleed is annoying.

Other Thoughts: I don't care what anyone else says. Backlight bleed IS a big deal. Not just for black, but for colors too. Areas with bleed show brighter colors than other parts of the screen. They look washy and just...bad. It's annoying. When playing games or watching movies, those black bars you see when watching other aspect ratios... white shadowing kills it and it annoys the hell out of you. Tsk tsk, Samsung. Tsk tsk.

Pros: Wonderful monitor. Made my life lovely. Can't say enough about it ... when it worked.

Cons: It suddenly began flashing red and having display problems.

Other Thoughts: I've had it for about 60 days since ordering it from New Egg. It was great until now. Whatever computer I use with it, it still flashes in a red tint. If I touch the side of the monitor, it fixes it self, comes back, goes away. Something wrong with it ... will be calling Samsung for manufacturers warranty. Probably a loose wire or something.

Pros: I waited a long time to go from CRT to LCD. My 19" Trinitron was on its last legs and I finally made the jump to LCD. I did not know what I was missing. My games 2moons, COD4, Crysis, etc.... Look GREAT!!!!

Cons: It does have some back light bleeding when the screen is black, but honestly you dont really notice it. B/c the colors on it are just amazing to even be bothered with that.

Other Thoughts: I have said it before and I will say it again. Newegg is the best when it comes to shipping. I ordered Thrusday morning around 6 am and recieved Friday around 3:30 pm. Newegg and UPS are a great team :)

Pros: Great picture. Crisp, Clear, deep. Very stylish. Good price.

Cons: The viewing angle is very bad. If you sit slightly lower than monitor and closer than 2 feet you lose the top of the screen. Also you can't compinsate by tilting because it doesn't tilt down, only up.

Other Thoughts: My desk is the same height as my bed, so my head is lower than the center of the screen. Really annoying. I'm sure if I sat at my desk like a normal person I would have no problems.

Pros: None now that I've owned this thing for about a year...

Cons: After a reinstall of my OS the right and bottom edges of the display drift off screen. I'm running the thing via DVI so the screen position settings in the menu are unavailable...
The "Auto" button shouldn't do anything in DVI mode either but it does. When I press it, (now about ever ten minutes), it corrects the drift and re-centers images being displayed...

Other Thoughts: What a pain it is to have to press the "Auto" button every time I need to scroll through a webpage because the scrollbar is "no longer there"...

Pros: I have two friends that got this monitor form newegg a month ago and at that time they had the S planes and i love then but newegg is selling the A planes now

Cons: Newegg is selling the A planes right now and that is what i got

Pros: It’s one of the best LCD’s I’ve ever seen. Really bright and sharp. Decent angle of viewing. Game graphics look nice. BIG! Very nice displaying of productivity software and text. 1680x1050 is very viewable and can display lots of “panes”. E.g. I can put Outlook folders, email list, preview pane, and to-do pane next to each other and it doesn’t look too cramped and it’s actually usable. No dead pixels.

Cons: Some blur in high speed “real” video. Especially HD. But what can you expect from an LCD. Some blur on moving windows around compared to a CRT. Colors become dark and change colors as you view it from bottomish angle. But hey…it’s an LCD…and you can’t get a CRT at this size unless you want it to be like 80 lbs. (if available).

Other Thoughts: At this $40 rebate it's a very good buy.

Rating + 5 Beatiful screen!


Pros: This a nice little screen. The stand is solid and swivels in case you need to move it to get at the back panel or show someone sitting next to you something. Not ghosting at all during games, no color fading at the edges, either. I have an xbox 360 as well and since I own a VGA cable for it, I can plug that into the analog port and keep my PC plugged into the DVI port as well. There's a little source switch at the bottom that allows you to switch between the two sources and if it only detects one source, it switches to that source automatically.

Cons: The plastic shroud that covers the inputs doesn't always go in and out nicely, but this really isn't a huge con. Higher resolution would have been nice, but I'm upgrading from a standard aspect ratio of 1280x1024 to this and I'm rather pleased.

Other Thoughts: I was a little wary of the price, but myself and a lot of other people are pleased with it. If you want something bigger with a monstrous resolution, then by all means, spend the money. I wanted something that had a clear, solid picture, but was also good for the eyes. I really can't complain at all.
