You get what you pay for
Pros: Large screen that is bright enough to blind you...
Cons: The viewing angle is horrible, the color is off, and after a few months of ownership I am now getting streaking. If you are a gamer, graphics designer or any other computer techie then I would advice passing on this monitor. I wanted a good monitor for a good price and that just isn't reality. If you are looking for a monitor that has good viewing angle, has good and accurate colors, and doesn't streak then I would pass on this monitor.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a monitor that has a good viewing angle, has good and accurate colors, and doesn't streak then I would pass on this monitor. I wish I had went with an NEC I was looking at for $400 more.
You get what you pay for and this just isn't worth it.

Samsung 245bw monitor
Pros: This monitor replaced a 6 year old Philips 18.1 inch LCD. Used only for office work, e-mail, internet, word etc. no plans to use it for gaming or watching movies The Samsung had no dead pixels, great ergonomics, clean and sharp edges. great colors. The ergonomics stand out. So many monitors come with close to no height adjustments.
Cons: TN panel. the limitations of this technology ( viewing angles and 6 bit color) are well documented elsewhere. slight humming noise from the rear. Poor documentation. If you are running windows vista forget the CD and go directly to Samsungs website and download the driver and magic tune software. you will need to do a little bit of digging to get what you need. Although if you are comfortable with internet searches it is no big deal.
Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research prior to making my purchase. This monitor is for a home office environment. No DVD movies or games. the 245bw is a no frills monitor. No speakers, USB and only DVI and VGA inputs. For me this was a plus. I have yet to read a good review of any monitor speaker. Now the humming noise is something that you should be aware of, especially if you are into silent PC computing. This has been reported on other Samsung monitors, such as the 245T. the reports of humming are not confined to samsung monitors. Dell has references on there website. the humming is likely related to the high power demands of 24 inch monitors. One website reviewer reported that 24 inch monitors will pull twice the power that a 22 inch would require. The hum is minor to my ear, but others may find it more of an issue. If you want a completely silent PC be aware of this issue, not just for the 245bw, but for other 24 inch monitors.

Awesome Monitor
Pros: It's HUGE! Very bright (can be adjusted), never experienced any kind of ghosting or delay. No dead pixels or bleeding. Excellent monitor for everyday computing and gaming.
Cons: Not a monitor for videophiles. Not the best at reproducing colors and the blacks aren't anything to get excited about.
Other Thoughts: Amazing monitor for everyday computing and gaming. With alot of tweaking and messing with settings it can produce very nice results when watching 1080p movies but not the best out there. But I have never had any sort of problem whatsoever with this monitor. Solid product from Samsung.

Awesome Monitor!
Pros: At its max, the brightness is unprecedentedly high, and the colors are absolutely stunning. If I wasn't afraid of damaging it, I could definitely sleep on it. This thing is MASSIVE. The adjustable stand is also very useful if you're tall like me, or even short.
Cons: Honestly none.
Other Thoughts: One thing I did notice however was when I opened up Photoshop CS3 it didn't recognize the monitor software or something, but that's probably because I've neglected to download the proper software. Whoops.

Excellent Monitor
Pros: Excellent video quality. Much better than my old Acer 19" low-end and even my ViewSonic Pro series LCDs. Whites are whiter not beige, edges are perfectly sharp. Swivel base is great. You can even rotate the screen 90deg by removing a screw behind the back cover. Horizontal viewing angle is great too for such a large screen
Cons: When rotated vertical, viewing angle is not as good as horizontal.
Other Thoughts: There is a square stain right in the center of the screen caused by the glue of the protective sheet which I haven't tried to clean, I'll only try to clean it when I get some LCD cleaning sheets. The good thing it's only visible when the monitor is off so no big deal.

Love these monitors
Pros: I love these monitors. They are bright and vibrant. I'm not really concerned with super-fantastic color reproduction -- these do just fine for the work I do. I have three of these now, though I did buy them somewhere else. They are just fantastic.
Cons: No USB or speakers, I guess.... but I like the clean lines without that stuff. I bought one at another place and it was defective, but I returned it and got a good one.

Bad for Blu-Ray
Pros: Good contrast, vibrant color, excellent definition.
Cons: Poor viewing angles; Blu-Ray plays at improper resolution (1920x1200 vice 1920x1080), making HD viewing a bit distorted. Image brightness a bit excessive for head on viewing and there's no portrait mode, which has always been a good selling point.
Other Thoughts: This monitor is excellent as a monitor. If you're buying a HD monitor for Blu-Ray movie viewing, I recommend you pass. As vivid as the display is, it's distracting enough without the image being the proper height, but stretched out too long. After all, isn't image quality the primary reason for HD monitors? Gameplayers will be pleased, but again, not being able to watch HD Blu-Ray is a major turn off. My monitor had a dead pixel that looks like the planet Venus on a dark background. To me it's unacceptable, but the company says it's within the specs tolerances.

Samsung 24" Monitor
Pros: Love love love this monitor. Upgraded from a 19" last Christmas and this was worth every penny. The screen is extremely crisp and I experience very little fading when viewing from an angle...not that I do that very often anyways. Highly recommended
Cons: Very slight problem, I noticed that when turning the monitor on after a long period of being off it occasionally displays these crazy blue lines and dots everywhere but I simply turn the monitor off and on again to fix it. Other than that I love it
Other Thoughts: A good price for a great monitor. Mine also came with a great 3-year warranty. Can't beat it!

Super Flat Panel
Pros: This monitor is fantastic I was going to buy the SCEPTRE X24WG-1080P as I have older ones that work great but I viewed them side-by-side and the Sammy won hands down, the whites were better more true and the colors deeper more colorful. The Sceptre is $300 and specs better but I got the Sammy for $370 plus I’ll get $30 back on rebate. I first hooked it up to my 1080i Sat box using a DVI-to-HDMI cable and it snapped right up and looked great, you could use this as a TV monitor in 1080i or 720p.
Cons: No major issues at all it might be nice to have speakers but really I'd rather not have them and get some nice Altec's or Klipsch speakers which you'll probably never see in a monitor anyway.
Other Thoughts: Even though it doesn’t have speakers or a USB hub it still has some very nice features the Sceptre did not like a swivel base, height adjustable stand, and a swivel flat panel mount that allows you to swivel 90 deg to view your display in portrait mode instead of landscape, very cool. The high gloss slim trim frame is also a good selling point esthetically. Viewing from the sides really isn’t bad at all yes it dims slightly but it is really minor and holds a uniform viewing all the way to 170+ degrees.

Too bright
Pros: Looks decent, great, sturdy base.
Cons: Way too bright. It is blinding out of the box. The viewing angles are bad, but not a big deal if you don't move around. Colors/Gamma need adjustment/calibration. When monitor is in standby, the blue LED blinks continuously which is very annoying.
Other Thoughts: MagicTune on the CD does not support Vista 64. Had to download it off Samsung's website. Didn't try any of the drivers.

Great Monitor for Gaming and Work
Pros: I have been using Samsung monitors for several years now and I must say upgrading from the 906BW to this, it is a huge step up. I play Games allot of the time and the clear images are awesome. No dead pixels, clear and crisp images with easy to change settings for gaming, internet and others, you can change so much to suit your needs and eyes. I love this monitor and am currently looking at getting a second.
Cons: Absolutely None!
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a very nice looking monitor that performs very well no matter what your needs are this is a great choice. You cannot go wrong!

bright, but not faithful
Pros: Inexpensive, very bright, rich, saturated colours
Cons: Poor colour fidelity, impossible to calibrate, colour fidelity is a function of viewing distance and angle
Other Thoughts: I bought this display because it was inexpensive given size, and some reviews had been quite complementary. I have had no end of difficulty with the display! It is nearly impossible to calibrate colours consistently across content. Further, the calibration is a function of viewing distance and angle; i.e., if I get it (close) to right in the centre, it's off on the edges. When I get some colours right, others are way off. I bought a calibration device, assuming it would help, but it can't figure out the calibration, either. I can't trust it for image editing and I'm fed up. Getting a new display, no matter what. Avoid it!

Best looking monitor
Pros: The best picture I have ever seen. Bright, sharp, clear. The whole package says quality and polish. The plastic surround is glossy, not dull black. The stand swivels from the bottom like a lazy suzan. We have three of these.
Cons: lower price is always nice. I'd buy lots more, but the boss would rather save $100 and get monitors that are "good enough". These are great.
Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned the viewing angle. First, tilt the screen so it's dead on to where you're head is. Looks perfect. You have to stand up before you can see a change, and then it's only slight. I have people stand up at my desk all the time and they all say the monitor looks great.

Samsung has terrible customer service
Pros: n/a
Cons: When I bought the monitor, I factored in the general reliability of the Samsung brand and the 3 year warranty. After my monitor failed, I contacted Samsung for warranty service. After waiting now 10 days, they have done nothing. I call them two times, but they can't give me a date on when they'll send me a replacement. In the mean time I have no working monitor. After this experience I'll never go with samsung again. I rather pay more for better service/quality than waiting forever without a monitor.

Nice monitor
Pros: Big, very big. Very bright, decent contrast. Blacks are very black, Whites look pretty good. Good response time leads to little ghosting. Fantastic color (for a TN). Very resistant to glare. Good for the money.
Cons: 1 stuck (green) subpixel in left upper corner (nearly impossible to notice unless screen is black). Vertical viewing angle is pretty much whack, but who looks at a monitor from above or below? The anti-glare coating gives some parts of the screen a inconsistant "soft" look in certain situations (almost impossible to notice most of the time).
Other Thoughts: From my reading, this is a TN TFT panal, making it good for gaming, movies, general usage, but usually unsuitable for professional photo editing or other apps that require very accurate color and contrast accuracy. That being said, compared to other TN panals, it does have fantastic color accuracy and a decently wide gamut. The contrast and brightness across the screen aren't perfect, but, once again, better then average. Generally, TN monitors will use 6-bit color, but Samsung has been known to use other methods to improve color representation. I believe it shows in this product.

Fabulous monitor
Pros: This is a wonderful monitor for the price. The chassis is elegant in a solid way. Adjustability of the stand is good and feels sturdy. Controls are easy to use. Panel is very bright and vibrant. Response time of the panel is fine for FPS gaming. Input lag is low. Visibility is exelent, viewing angles are NOT a problem. It's a matt finish panel so you don't have reflection problems. I have no dead or stuck pixels.
Cons: My only gripe is that the on/off button flashes when the computer is shut down and it's one of those bright blue led's. However you can turn it off with one press, so how much of a problem is that. It comes back on instantly. The real con in my opinion is that most online sellers have unacceptable pixel return policies so you are very nervous ordering online. I got mine from an establishment that offers a total satisfaction guarantee.
Other Thoughts: The panel is a TN type so it will not have the viewing angels that another type might offer. HOWEVER this is ABSOLUTELY no problem when you are USING it, only if you are moving yourself large distances from side to side TRYING to FIND an issue with your head up close to it. I'm sitting with my nose lined up at the left edge of the screen and I see only a very tiny shift in brightness on the right edge. If you bend DOWN below the middle of the panel and look up at it, it will look bad. This is known with TN panels and is NOT an issue when you are using it. Adjust the height so your eye level is above the middle of the screen and it is wonderfull. It is too bright when you get it. Adjust Brightness to ~30 and Contrast to ~60 as a starting point. Please go to tftcentral dot co dot uk for a great review and calibration info and info about the types of panels. This monitor when calibrated has very good color representation.

Very Nice.
Pros: Great quality for price. Fantastic colors. I haven't been able to try it will my new PC I'm building but the screen works great with the existing setup.
Cons: Blue on/off switch blinks when computer stops sending signal to screen (most screens on/off turn an amber color). This is kind of annoying at first but I got used to it.
Other Thoughts: It's not really a con so I didn't put it there, but the screen can be really bright. I had to turn the brightness all the way down to 15 so my eyes wouldn't water.

ultimate
Pros: This monitor is amazing. It rotates nicely, and looks even better. It's keen in appearance, and easy to dust. Reflects glare very well.
Cons: The menu's for adjusting brightness, contrast, colour etc etc is a bit weird at first, especially with the way the buttons are set up, but after a quick run through you get use to it.
Other Thoughts: quit procrastinating and just buy this monitor

good monitor, but probs
Pros: great screen.
Cons: got two monitors both with problems. first, dead pixels, and a dent in the screen. second monitor, dvi cable needs to be wiggled every few minutes because the power light will turn off indicating bad connection. and its the monitor, i tried several cables and it does it even when not plugged into a comp.
Other Thoughts: great if they were not so problematic

Great Monitor
Pros: BRIGHT!!! I had to turn the setting down so I didnt blind myself which I love. Im an avid gamer but I cant find any problems with this monitor while playing.
Cons: My first monitor died about a year in, the back light failed and caused flickering unless the monitor was on the lowest brightness setting, I contacted Samsung and within three days a refurb monitor (that looks new) showed up at the local UPS store and all I had to do was swap monitors and was on my way, no shipping charges :)
Other Thoughts: Great bang for the buck and great support!

Fantastic
Pros: I was torn between this and the Dell 24" but I decided to go with this one. It's a fantastic monitor. I upgraded from a 19" LCD and it feels like I was living in the dark ages. The difference is unbelievable. I play all the latest MMO's including AoC and War Hammer Beta, and regular games like CoD4 and Mass Effect and this monitor is awesome for them. Great color, brightness, response time etc...
Cons: Wish it was cheaper, I would like a 2nd one.
Other Thoughts: No dead pixels, works amazing out of the box, although you can play with the settings and get it even better.

Excellent Monitor
Pros: The Samsung 245BW offers the best quality in games at max resolution of 1920x1200. There are no other monitors out there for a good price. I had no dead pixels at all. This is the best bang for the buck! The shipping is quite quick and took only a matter of 2 days to ship. Good job newegg for your excellent service!
Cons: No cons!
Other Thoughts: I like to point out that i'v been a satisfied customer of newegg for many years now and i have no problem with their excellent customer service!

Good Deal
Pros: The first plus about a monitor this size is there wasn't any dead pixels when I got it. It also has very vivid colors and is very bright which I like. The price was definitely worth it to me to upgrade from my 20.1inch; also a SAMSUNG syncmaster.
Cons: I can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: I'm not sure how much you can trust the review of someone who isn't listed as buying the item unless they didn't buy it from NEWEGG and bought it locally or something and then are reviewing it on here. The reason I say this is because I can't seem to understand the problem with the viewing angle the person stated. I've looked at the monitor from several different angels/distances and it looks the same.

Outstanding Value
Pros: 24" wide screen, the stand, the sleek simple design, fast response.
I don't agree with what the industry says about acceptable dead pixels, if I spend my hard earned money on something I expect quality workmanship and if it is something I don't like I want to be able to return it, after all I AM THE CUSTOMER. I don't like Newegg's dead pixel policy so I purchased from a local retailer.
NO DEAD PIXELS.
Cons: I have not found any, mainly because I knew what I was getting BEFORE I purchased it and I feel I got my moneys worth.
As with most large LCDs it gets a little warm.
Other Thoughts: I spent several weeks reviewing monitors and monitor specs before purchasing this monitor and I am not disappointed.
Most of the bad reviews I read on this monitor are about things like viewing angle and color but those people are being too critical and are expecting too much from a monitor at this price point.
If you are an everyday user then this monitor will suite you just fine and those looking for "High End" professional features at a bargain basement price should understand their market, the value of the tools they need and look elsewhere.

Vibrant
Pros: Good Contrast, very bright (easily adjustable too)
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: I've only had it for a few days but this monitor is awesome. The colors are much more rich and realistic than with my old dell monitor (and it was a higher end 19, not one of the cheapy's). I also havent noticed any problem with the viewing angle as others have pointed out. It looks the same to me from either side and i can still see well from the corner of the room. 24" of screen real estate is great.

Awesome
Pros: Great monitor. Huge amounts of space. Nice, bright, and beautiful. Nice black sleek trim, and great stand. Can tilt and move around like crazy. Great for playing crysis over.
Cons: Getting used to so much space takes about a day, but believe me, its well worth it. The one disadvantage is getting graphics cards to run such a huge screen. I'd suggest getting two for great performance, but my geforce 9600 gets the job done just fine. I can play crysis on medium with no problem.
Other Thoughts: Overall greatness. Go ahead and upgrade yourself into a real monitor. If you do coding, 3D modeling, or anything where you'll use a lot of applications, this thing is priceless.

I heart samsung
Pros: Cosumer reports loves samsung, but alot of people wrote warnings, none of them have come true. It has been a month since I bought this, so already my feeble mind is forgetting the terminology for monitor specifications and what not. But that is a plus! Nothing to complain about! Great image, widescreen improves movies and video games, my high rez background looks like an open window. Buy this, buy it now. Samsung is the best. HP #2 mabye.
Cons: Alot say price, but you get what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: I heart samsung!

Great monitor
Pros: The colors on this monitor is excellent. I bought one and set my old one next to it before I sold it on CL in a dual-monitor config and realized how much I liked it, so I bought another. The colors are outstanding. The stand is really nice; I don't have to crane my neck down to look at these screens. Games look great on them. No dead pixels, either. With two of them I can do all my work and never run out of screen space. Watching Netflix on demand looks good on them as well. The bezel is sleek and modern looking and they look great on my desk.
Cons: Viewing angle may not be the best, but I only use them within the intended angle.

Phenomenal screen
Pros: Classy housing, vibrant color, good contrast, height-adjustable stand, HDCP, 1080p support
Cons: It doesn't pour beer.
Other Thoughts: For $400, wow. The dynamic contrast makes for some really sharp images in gaming, image editing, word processing, and whatever else. The screen is a beauty to look at when it's on or off.
I particularly like the height adjustment, which is something you don't see on the cheap 24" screens. Samsung also boasts a higher brightness than the other cheap stuff. Spend the extra $50 or whatever and just get the Samsung, I have no regrets at all.

Great Monitor
Pros: Bought this in April and has worked great from day one. No dead Pixels and has a great picture
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Only thing I hate is newweggs dead pixel policy but other wise a great buy. I have always bought computer components from new and always have had great luck.

Worth it!
Pros: This monitor is fantastic. Upgraded from a 19" Dell monitor and I'm just amazed at the quality of this monitor. Great picture, beautiful display, awesome for gaming. Now that I have a 24" monitor I don't know how I will ever go back to anything smaller.
Great buy worth every penny!
Cons: The only bad thing about this monitor was getting my eyes used to the size. Other than that, nothing!
Other Thoughts: If you find this monitor on a sale with free 3 day business shipping, hop on the deal right away!

Exquisite - My faith in Samsung is restored
Pros: Absolutely elegant construction. Beautiful design, and all adjustments feel smooth and solid. Picture is crystal clear, and very bright.
Cons: As with other pivoting models I've owned, you can tell it wasn't really designed for continued use in portrait mode, as the viewing angle is funky... appear to go from bright to dim from left to right, unless you sit at just the perfect angle.
Other Thoughts: I've had trouble with a previous Samsung monitor "flickering" when connected via DVI, and was hesitant to give them another try. I'm glad I did! This monitor is fantastic, both functionally and aesthetically. GOOD JOB Samsung!

Never buying Samsung again..
Pros: Sleek, beautiful, swivel, tilt, height adjustment...
Cons: Not compatible with Nvidia GeForce 9500m gs. They should make it clear that compatibility might be an issue and to contact Samsung to double check--although that might not work, since essentially you find out after the fact if the monitor is going to be compatible with your graphics card. Their list on their website is NOT COMPREHENSIVE.
Other Thoughts: Use this as a "monitor" for my Asus M51Sn-X2 Notebook. I just got offline with a Samsung rep, we finally figured out why the maximum resolution only goes up to 1900x1080:
The monitor is not compatible with the graphics card.
Now, I say that instead of the "graphics card is not compatible with the monitor" because the notebook is compatible with an KDS 24MDWB monitor--1920x1200 no problems.
With the Samsung, the image is stretched vertically and cannot be fixed. I was told that the only solution would be to upgrade my graphics card...when it is brand new...and not in need of upgrading. Long story short, I'm stuck with a monitor that doesn't work properly (the KDS is being used by another computer otherwise I'd use it instead) and Samsung is never getting another penny from me again. EVER.

Very happy with it!
Pros: Excellent image quality. No ghosting, sharp resolution, great contrast. Love the swivel base with its up & down movement. Also remember to remove screw behind to enable rotation (lay monitor on your bed, remove 4 screws, pull off base from lcd panel, remove single screw inside, reassemble base)
Cons: Viewing angle could be better.
Other Thoughts: Its limited viewing angle is only noticeable if you're sitting too close to it (remember geometry class?). With this huge panel, you don't need to. A person sitting at the right distance centered in front of the monitor should not have any problem with this. I sit at a little over 3 feet away and I can't notice it. Lay back and relax that beautiful image.

Very Impressed
Pros: No dead pixels. Very vibrant colors and no viewing angle problems(and I am PICKY). Again, VERY impressed
Cons: doesn't have HDMI port (but no speakers on monitor so not needed)
Other Thoughts: Was bright as heck at first. nvidia panel said 50 brightness. But you have to turn it down from 100 brightness on panel buttons. I opted to buy it local for just a bit more just incase of any dead pixels. I play FPS games and this monitor is one of the best input responses(diff from teh 5ms thing) and no matter what angle I look at screen, the entire screen is completely visible with no shadowing

It does support HDCP (via DVI)!
Pros: We have been using a bunch of these at work for many months, and they've been very good monitors. The one I use has very good color and response time. I've played a number of movie trailers on the monitor and saw no ghosting, and the number of simultaneous displayable colors is very good. For example, I could not see the banding in moving fire that I can see on my Viewsonic LCD (a VX924). I plan to buy two of these for my home.
Cons: There is one stuck pixel near the middle of my monitor, but it is light grey and I can't see it unless I make the screen all white (via Notepad) and look for it.
Other Thoughts: The specs don't say it, but this monitor does in fact support HDCP via its DVI connection. It is written on the box as well as on the back of the monitor at the DVI connection. My machine has an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX, and through the display settings I can change the output mode. I set the card's output mode to "1080p HDTV" and "1080p50 HDTV", and the monitor displayed it just fine. I tried 1080i and the monitor was not happy (the picture was wavy). So, this monitor should work for a Blu-Ray setup as long as you have a Blu-Ray drive and your video card supports HDCP.

Fantastic if screw removed
Pros: Picture is excellent. Not even one bad pixel. 24" is optimum size. Rotatable software great as is rotatable screen on excellent mount. I Am going to buy another to take home.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Some users didn't know about single shipping screw inside pedestal & couldn't get monitor to physically rotate. Screw is easy to remove once pedestal is removed from monitor.

Best 24" for FPS gamers
Pros: - lowest input lag 7.5ms among all 24" LCDs - sleek cabinet design
Cons: It's TN panel, meaning - horrid viewing angles (upper part is darker than lower) - inaccurate colors, cold and bluish even with Blue=0
Other Thoughts: Newegg was fast at delivery, as always. This monitor is perfect for FPS online gamers, because for them difference between 7.5ms input lag and 40-60ms means a lot. For this single application it deserves Excellent rating. For everything else you should look to PVA/IPS panels. Notice that input lag is not the same as response time.

Satisfied
Pros: Expensivo, but 24''. Looks amazing!!! Games look sweet. Almost do not know what to do with all this space. It's literally like having dual monitors in one. Word opens with 2 pages side by side which is really sweet. Auto-tiling feature in windows makes writing code and papers really easy. 1900x1200 resolution is NICE
Cons: Weird glitches after coming back from sleep. Get weird pixalations after coming back from sleep but quick switching of modes (press auto refresh button) takes care of it. Viewing angle is a lil bad (vertically), but you do not notice it when sitting at the desk. Not too happy with the adjustments possibilities, my Dell Ultrasharp could go upside down if I wanted it to!!! Does get moderately warm.
Other Thoughts: It's pricey... if you got the cash, it think this is a great choice. It's big, so be sure you have enough room on your desk. Yes, it is a lil bright at first, but honestly you can switch the brightness pretty easily (even got some pre-programmed brightness levels already in it).

Simply Amazing
Pros: Crystal clear picture, 1920x1200 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio with 5ms response time, what more do you what? The controls for this monitor should be very easy for new users and a breeze for past Samsung LCD users. Adjustable height though is probably one of my favorite things about this monitor, much easier for my neck now.
Cons: Price - granted there might be competing brands that offer better price on a smaller sized monitors, but none have the same reliability, build, sleekness and price that Samsung has in its LCD monitors when it comes to big ones with high resolutions.
Other Thoughts: Samsung as a brand is now a trusted LCD monitor brand in my eyes because the last LCD (19") I bought was from them about three years ago (Still running like a champ) and I liked everything about it. This 245BW surpasses far past that in terms of specs and looks even BETTER doing it. Please NOTE though: If you run basic office tasks/web surfing, a good graphics card will do. However, if you plan on gaming at native resolutions of 1900x1200, a VERY good card is a must in the 24"+ monitor range. My new build specs are as follows. |||CASE - Antec Nine Hundred|MB - EVGA 780i SLI|CPU - Intel C2Q Q9450|CPU COOLER - ZALMAN CNPS9700|GFX - EVGA 9800GX2|RAM - G.SKILL F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ x2|HD - Western Digital Raptor X 150GB|MONITOR - 24" SAMSUNG 245BW|PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W [For an additional 9800GX2/3 HDs/LCS]|||

Love it!!!
Pros: Beautiful screen; no ghosting or weirdness in any way; no dead pixels. Very, very happy. Came from a 19" Sharp.
Cons: My wife is getting tired of me saying how much I like it, lol.
Other Thoughts: I am a gamer, not a gfx artist, but colors look good to me. I play a first person shooter for about 15 hrs a week and so far, I have seen nothing but an incredible screen. Again, very happy!!!

Flickers alot...
Pros: Nice price, no dead pixels, nice stand and design.
Cons: View angles are awful, but worst than that it flickers a lot! Go to the Samsung support site and read the FAQs on the flicker problems before buying this model. Unfortunately it's too late to return, but I will be looking for a replacement.
Other Thoughts: Samsung what's the deal?

Highly Reccomended
Pros: Adjustable (either high or low), 1920x1200 - looks great, no dead pixels. DVI cable included :)
Cons: Gets warm (although I haven't noticed any lack of performance), viewing angle is not great (as long as you don't move around a lot, it won't be noticable)
Other Thoughts: Good to fit two webpages/windows open side by side. Brightness should be turned down when viewing text documents or webpages (it has settings for text, game, etc.)

Works Good for Me
Pros: I just purchased this one for my new build with a Q9450, and a Diamond Viper 3870PE4512SB. And I love it. I mainly use mine for photo and video work, and so far I really enjoy this one.
Cons: would like to have the one with the HDMI port, but I can make due with this one. No cons .. for the price.
Other Thoughts: coming from a 19" Samsung, I really like this one much more. I don't see any of the issues that other reviews have posted here. I'm totally satisfied with this monitor. newegg delivered this along with all my new system parts, all at once, all in 3 days.. great service..!!

Works perfectly
Pros: As expected from previous Samsung LCD monitors. Everthing worked perfectly out of the box. There are no dead pixels and everything looks great. There is no ghosting what so ever in all of the games tried to date. And I can not see any glare from the back lighting as I have on other monitors along the edge.
Cons: The screen enclosure is made of a gloss finish and I can see a reflection of whats on the screen arround the edges. They need to make this a non reflective surface. On the bright side, it is very hard to notice and im in some ways just nit picking.
Other Thoughts: The wife is already hinting that she needs a new display soon as well :) (there is nothing wrong with her display, mine is just bigger)

It's a love hate thing
Pros: Price. Easy to work worth. Not much ghosting. Works well for gaming.
Cons: Viewing angles are terrible from below. Only from below though. The brightness is an eye strain and takes some patience to adjust. In order to rotate the monitor, you must take off the stand and remove a screw.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for cheap money. It is worth my what I spend (roughly $250 new) however there are often times when I with I spent extra money and bought something of better quality. My advice, if you find this cheap and you are on a budget it is worth it. If you have some extra cash, don't buy this. Use the extra cash and avoid the headaches of poor viewing angles. I have to put my stand as low as possible and tilt the screen towards me or else the top of the screen becomes dark.

Samsung still delivers
Pros: It's a Samsung; Great value; Plenty of (needless) adjustments available; True 5ms response time; Quality (it's a Samsung!)
Cons: Absolutely none
Other Thoughts: Zero dead pixels (as expected from Samsung, the world's top lcd panel maker). Newegg delivered practically overnight for normal shipping (warehouse in my area). Not much more can be said about the great quality of this product. I'm not a color expert or anything, but this monitor's display is beautiful to me. Screen is big and clear and well designed.

It's a trap
Pros: Nice price for great looks and specs. 5ms is sufficient for gaming.
Cons: Terrible vertical viewing angle. The default brightness distorts color accuracy even after calibration. Got a dead pixel after only a month of moderate usage; can't return until I get 17 dead pixels, yay.
Other Thoughts: Looks can be deceiving. Go with another brand.

245BW
Pros: Great contrast ratio and resolution. 5ms response time is high enough for me to not notice a difference for gaming.
Cons: Brightness varies too much with viewing angle. An annoying and distracting dead pixel pops after only a month of moderate use. Samsung won't do anything about it unless 17 pixels die on a 24", so I wish you good luck. You'll need it. Pray every single night before you sleep.
Other Thoughts: Since I was one of the unlucky ones stricken by dead pixel and forsaken by Samsung's absurd return policy, I would not recommend this monitor to anyone else.

245BW
Pros: BIG, makes my old 21inch BenQ look small :(
Cons: bottom of the monitor is WAY brighter then the top, its really notisable in every game/movie
needs to be calibrated big time in order for it to not suck, but after that, its all good.
Other Thoughts: i wouldnt buy a second one... dont buy a TN panel :-\

DOA
Pros: I don't know yet, as my monitor was DOA.
Cons: Called Samsung tech support and was able to get to a real person reasonably quickly. They are sending a new one, but I am disappointed by the amount of time it is going to take. If I ordered a new one from NewEgg, I could have it here in 4 days. But it is going to take 2-4 days before Samsung even ships it. Then the normal shipping time. This is unacceptable for a DOA product. It should be on the shipping dock within a couple hours of me calling.
Other Thoughts: Shame on you Samsung for letting your Quality Control standards slip.

Good LCD 24"
Pros: Great Resolution and contrast ratio. Nice large sreen Great for movies and games. It has a quick responce time. It is HDCP.
Cons: The top and bottom have some light leakage. The colors are not as good there. There is also one area in the middle where the lighting is not even, but you cant tell exept if your looking at a black screen. There is also one stuck pixel that wont come unstuck. (sorry for any misspellings)
Other Thoughts: I love it. The price is great. I put this next to my old samsung 20" full screen and they both fit on my desk. They are different in hight by a tiny bit.

SyncMaster 245BW
Pros: This monitor is just outstanding. Clear, crisp images at 1920x1200, and the most vibrant colors i've seen on a monitor(crt/lcd). Other reviews complain about the brightness of the monitor, but i love it. It doesn't hurt my eyes at all after hours of use. As for making the pixels bigger being cheating...19" non widescreen lcds are 1280x1024 on average. 22" wide are 1680x1250, and 24" wide are 1920x1200. thats just the way it is, and it looks awesome on this monitor.
Cons: not at all.

Excellant Monitor
Pros: I bought this monitor off E to the Cost and it was a recertified model for about one hundred and fifty less than Newegg. The monitor is BRIGHT, CRISP, CLEAR. Games and movies look outstanding.
Before I bought this monitor I used a Samsung 940b which is the same model in the 19" version. This monitor definitely displays a better picture than the 19" version.
Its huge! I have to turn my head the slightest bit when changing from looking at the top left to the top right!
Don't hesitate, if you spend more than 2 hours a day on your computer you will love this monitor.
Cons: My monitor came with 2 stuck pixels but they are only noticeable when the screen is displaying all black.

generally disappointed with 24" monitors
Pros: okay, you get 1920x1200 resolution and 24 inches to look at. DVI port and a vga port. Very crisp text, even in vga at full res. Note: I am not writing this specifically to rate samsung, more to do with the concept of today's 24" monitors.
Cons: Compare a laptop with 1920x1200 screen. You can buy a entire laptop for $1000 with a 1920x1200 screen which has to conform to much tighter power, size, weight, and quality standards than a desktop monitor. So, why can't these people make decent desktop monitors? $400plus and no hdmi, no hdcp, scales any signal to fit no choice in the scaling behavior.
Other Thoughts: I was looking for mainly the ability to view a large amount of information (docs, coding etc). I have better than average eyesight (doctor proven) and I find that just making bigger pixels on a 24" monitor is sort of .. well cheating. I bought this samsung off best buy for a day and turned it back because I didn't see the value in dishing out $400 for just "size". And again, this is my opinion regarding all 24" monitors, not just the samsung. And going to 30inches.. well I don't feel like pawning my kidney just yet.

WAS Working Great.
Pros: Beautiful, Nicest Monitor Ever Owned, Great Refresh Rate, Good For Games, 1080p, you name it.
Cons: Super, Super, Bright. (is that really a con). Even color calibration cannot make it look right, 50% Contrast and Brightness and color calibration and it still looks too bright. Also my product has already died within one year of use. Samsung support looks good on the outside, not so much from the inside.
Other Thoughts: Recommend running with a Spyder (might as well for this much $). It will bring down the green as it displays a little too much. Mine just died in less than 6 months, I've had things die, but not a 500$ monitor. I used "Advanced Exchange" to replace it since I'm out a monitor here. They are sending me a "used" replacement. It's been 13 days since I submitted my "Advanced Exchange" and I just got my UPS tracking # today, although it hasn't shipped yet. Is it usual policy or is this monitor in high replacement demand? I don't know, but I'm not going to go with a Samsung monitor after this. Picky, ya I know, but 3 weeks for an advanced exchange? And a 3 year warranty when it dies in the 1st 6 months?

Still Waiting on it
Pros: I hear this thing is great....well, I've yet to see it. NewEgg shipped UPS, and UPS says they delivered it, but left it on my porch. Needless to say, I still don't have my monitor, and getting more and more upset by the day. WHEN/IF I get it, I'll update my review!
Cons: I don't have what I've paid for, and I'm probably getting the shaft. After all the shopping on Newegg, I'm hoping they help me out on this one.

Great for gaming; good for video
Pros: 16x10, very fast response time for gaming, nice look to it, no dead pixels.
Cons: Birght out of the box; you must lower the brightness. Adjusting it is a little difficult which is not a major issue if it sits in the same place on your desk. Only video input is DVI; no HDMI.
Other Thoughts: I love this monitor because it is ideal for my purposes. I have a 37inch Sharp Aquous for movies and TV, so I don't much need this monitor for anything but browsing and FPS gaming. With my 8800GT, Counter-Strike Source runs like a dream at maximum resolution. COD4 and other new games looked fantastic. Definitely get a good vid card for this monitor, but remember it is DVI only. It is 1080P and will support all HD video, just through DVI and not HDMI.

Awesome monitor! Great deal!
Pros: This monitor is bright, crisp, sharp. I bought it on sale for $419 excluding the $30 rebate which will make it $389. For a size and quality like this, its a great buy. I was worried about pixel problem, but fortunately this unit has no dead pixel. Samsung is catching up to Sony. Why pay more for Sony name brand when Samsung is just as good. Played COD4 on it, its awesome. Text, graphics, movies, all looks good on this monitor!
Cons: Can't think of any at this moment. Maybe improve on the refresh rate and contrast ratio.
Other Thoughts: This unit was well packed and easy to setup. Plus on line registration for Samsung product is a breeze.

There IS some ghosting.
Pros: Size, very bright, great colors, crisp text, excellent control over height/rotation/tilt. Very sturdy and lightweight. Buttons are classy and the power button icon is lit up with a blue LED (I love blue LED accents). OSD is easy to navigate. Not much backlight bleeding (better than most). No dead pixels here. 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
Cons: There IS ghosting. Everyone here who has commented about ghosting has said there is none, and I can assure you there IS. It's not terrible, but it is a little annoying. Not only can this be seen in games, but it is CLEARLY visible when dragging windows around on your desktop, quickly scrolling text, or moving the cursor across the screen. I'm running it at the native resolution (1900x1200) for both the desktop and my games. It also needs a little configuration as the default settings make it a little washed out because of how bright it is.
Other Thoughts: I'm going from a 19" 2ms (BTW) Viewsonic display. There is most definitely a little ghosting especially when comparing it to a monitor with a 2ms response time. I just wanted to make this absolutely clear to future buyers. I paid a little more by buying it from a store but it's worth it to me seeing as how Newegg's dead pixel policy is ridiculous. Overall, I'm very happy with this monster of a display.

Its a steal
Pros: I recently bought this monitor, on sale for $419, with some hesitation. I knew Samsung was the best, they are the new Sony, but I was concerned with the whole 6-bit verus 8-bit debates. I had a concern with buying a 'budget' model Samsung.
Well my concerns are unwarranted. This monitor is incredible and worth twice as much. I was using a Dell 2407 that was a year old, and I paid almost twice as much for a year ago. The Samsung LCD beats it in all aspects.
Its bright, crisp, clear, I see no distortion of any type. In addition I took some high resolution Nikon Digital photos and viewed them. They actually looked better on the Samsung than the Dell 2407.
Overall if you're looking for a 24" LCD, I dont think you could find better without spending twice as much. Even then you maybe getting equal quality.
Thanks Samsung, and Newegg.
Cons: The button layout isn't as user friendly as it could have been. Also the number of ports is minimal, but it has what it needs and nothing more. This isn't necessarily a con, because I've paid extra to get extra ports or features, that I never use more than the first day.
Other Thoughts: Buy it, you won't regret it. I paid $749 for my Dell monitor a bit over a year ago, and the Samsung is much better for only $419 on sale.

Pros: Great picture. No dead pixels, viewing angle is fine for movies, bright, some nice presets, and the contrast (particularly blacks) is fantastic.
Due to my ThinkPad's dock's DVI connector performing horribly (I don't know if this is hardware or the fault of the Intel graphics but I wasn't about to use non-free nVidia drivers), I have this hooked up via VGA. The fine adjustment for analog sources works much better than any other LCD I've used -- I can barely tell I'm not using a digital connection. (I paid $175 for that dock... sigh.)
Cons: The bezel on my previous monitor, a Samsung 941BW (I think that's the model number... 19" widescreen) was very thin and matte and had sharp corners. Which I liked a lot. One reason I bought this was that it looked very similar online. It turns out it's glossy on the front and the corners are slightly rounded. I think it's about the same size proportionally to the monitor. This is very much a matter of taste, though, and certainly not enough to make me reget the purchase.
Other Thoughts: According to Xorg's calculations, it's 94 DPI, which is annoying enough that I manually reset it to 100. I know, I know, relying on "standard" ppem values makes B.J. cry, etc. I'm a bad person. But practically speaking: it's nice and big. Fits well in my setup. Again, whether you prefer your display to be under or over 100 is totally subjective. But I figure it's worth noting.

Newbie Magnet
Pros: If this is your first 24 inch monitor you will be very happy with this bright, cheerful monitor. You must use MagicColor (tm) to properly set the colors, but this is very simple to achieve. Okay monitor for gaming (I use dual 8800GT in SLI mode).
Cons: No HDCP. And like all cheap 24 inch monitors, if you move your head up and down you will notice dark banding at the top and bottom of the picture. This is distracting in Photoshop and becomes an irritation if this is your work machine.
Other Thoughts: If you are more demanding, I recommend the Samsung 245T. Sure it costs more, but vertical viewing angle is superb. The 245T has more connectors (Component and HDMI are added) and supports HDCP which is needed for BluRay playback at 1080P. Worth the extra money. The 245T is good for gaming provided you set your graphic card to do upscaling.

ONE stuck pixel!
Pros: Monitor is gorgeous. Colors, clarity and brightness are fantasic
Cons: ONE STUCK PIXEL! This is the second samsung widescreen LCD I have had in the last 10 months with a stuck/dead pixel! the ONLY good thing is that 1900x1200 is so many pixels that you have to really look to find it. But it's still there and I'm hoping I get 9 more to replace this monitor.

I can see clearly now
Pros: Clear picture, vibrant colors, black blacks. I don't experience eye strain with this monitor as I do with work monitors. Love the pedistal adjustments.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Had a Sceptre 22" connected to the same PC, hooked up this Samsung 24" without changing any thing else and all I can say is WOW this is great!

Amazing picture quality
Pros: First, I would like to say that this is by far the best monitor I have ever owned. Also, this monitor came with not one single dead pixel!! AMAZING RESOLUTION 1920x1200!!!!!!
Cons: The screen is a bit thicker than a normal 19 inch pannel.
Other Thoughts: I wish I could afford the 30 inch :)

Very nice
Pros: Too many to list... great brightness, vast amounts of screen real estate, very fast, easy high adjustments, no dead pixels out of the box... I could go on and on
Cons: My only con has nothing to do with the monitor itself but with the software. I tried to run the color calibration software that came with it. After going through their steps and saving the color profile, everything looked wonky. When I opened Photoshop, it told me that the loaded color profile was corrupted. I ran thru the process multiple times and got the same thing every time. Finally, I switched back to the standard windows profile and everything looked perfect again.
Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this monitor. Software, not so much.

This is a big monitor
Pros: This Monitor is big, really big. And VERY bright! I had to turn the brightness down when it was dark in my office. I really like how easy it was to adjust the height of this monitor, even though it only has a low and high setting. It arrived with no dead pixels and no damage that I can see. The menu is easy to navigate, and with a bit more tweaking I really got this monitor looking amazing! HUGE difference from my 17"!
Cons: Its somewhat hard to hide the cables, since they just come from the bottom of the monitor, but that is a very minor detail! The monitor also has a bit of tilt motion if you adjust it, allowing it to easily get bumped un-square, but its no big deal
Other Thoughts: This is a great monitor to not only game, but multy task as well, you can upon up a great deal of windows and organize accordingly! If you want a nice quality monitor at 24" in wide scree, I would recommend this monitor to anyone.

Pros: Very vibrant colors, outstanding text clarity and absolutely no ghosting. The stand is sturdy and very easy to adjust the height.
Cons: Rather narrower viewing angle than other lcds, but thats to be expected from this technology. I'm going to be sitting in front of it all the time so it really doesn't affect me.

2nd review after using for a couple weeks
Pros: Razor sharp on the native resolution of 1920x1200, good scaling for games, not so great for the desktop when you need lots of text
Cons: Bad horizontal viewing angles
Other Thoughts: My first review of this monitor was glowing, but after a couple weeks I've been annoyed by the horizontal viewing angles. Its impossible to sit directly in front of this monitor and not get washed out color reproduction on the wide edges of the screen caused by the distance from the middle of the screen to the edges. This monitor is too big for itself! How is this? It bugs the heck out of me when I'm reading an all white page and the edges are slightly yellow. Moving my head a couple inches to one side cleans up that side, but makes the other one worse. Perhaps Samsung is using an inferior display techoology but this bugs me.

Great Monitor!
Pros: Best sub $1000, 24" monitor hands down. Great picture, color and contrast. No ghosting, very nice control options and, most important, NO DEAD PIXELS. Minimal light bleed on totaly black screen. Not otherwise noticible. Movies and games, @ 1920x1200 res look equally stunning using my 8800 GTS (G92 512mb). Outstanding product from Samsung.
Cons: None yet. Most of the negative reviews regarding view angle are from folks trying to use it across a room as a HDTV. If that's what your looking for, look elsewhere as this isn't what this monitor is designed for. The TN panel works just great when used as intended; as a computer monitor.
Other Thoughts: Buying here at Newegg saved me about $100 over my local, brick and morter stores. No tax and free shipping. Delivered on time and in perfect condition. I'm very satisfied. Check it out locally first to compare the picture and size to other 24" monitors. *WARNING* this monitor will look smaller on the shelves than on your desk!

Wow
Pros: Amazing picture quality. Text is displayed very sharply, the black enclosure is glossy and attractive, games look incredible on this monitor!!
Cons: No HDMI input, no USB hub. The included cables (DVI-DVI, VGA-VGA) are a little too short, I have to buy a longer one to reach my computer comfortably.
Other Thoughts: I've been a CRT user for 15 years, including my previous monitor, the Sony GDM-FW900 24". I believed nothing could beat CRT for visual quality. This Samsung 245BW proves my wrong!!! I'm amazed at the sharpness of the screen, even at non-native resolutions. Games look incredible, with no ghosting or tearing. I have it hooked up to a GeForce 8800GTS 320MB graphics card, and it looks phenomenal under both Vista and Ubuntu. Highly recommended!!!

not too bad
Pros: great color, brightness, ease of install and form factor
Cons: Magic tune does not workwith GeForce 6300
Other Thoughts: You've seen some reviews complaining of problems with the vertical view being wacky -- well it is...
I am unsure as to my intentions as of yet - the display is great but you do have to muck around with the display to get yourself to a good spot.

Open Box
Pros: I bought this monitor from New egg as an open box item,it was $100.00 cheaper . The box arrived in terrible condition . It had holes and tears in the box . The stryofoam was broken in several places . The monitor was wrapped in thin white material . I thought oh great , surely the monitor is in bad shape, but when i opened the box , the monitor was brand new and no defects. The colors are great on this monitor. I had a 22" HAHNS and this monitor blows it away . I can read text frome a foot and half away , unlike the hahns where i had to be within 6 inches to read the text . The reds are red the blues are blue and the green is green.Excellent quality monitor , much more vibrant than 19"-22's" lcds I have had in the past. No dead pixels . Absolutely great , and i have it plugged into a gtx 8800. All games look fantastic . Office looks good too.
Cons: No Cons except the condition of the box .
Other Thoughts: Buy it now!!! I am glad I took a chance on an open box item .The only thing missing from the box was the cable ,no big deal as i have several of these. I feel very comfortable with this purchase. I will buy more.

Optional speaker bar is not available anywhere
Pros: The manual and specs for this Samsung product discuss installation of an optional speaker bar. The "hangers" for it are in place on the back of the monitor, however, it was never built or sold. I called Samsung and got no straight answer, and other posters didn't either. One person discovered that the intended speaker bar was to be extremely similar to that for older 13-17-inch Dell monitors that were built by Samsung. Dell stocked it as their "AS501 speaker bar" but the hanger spacing is too short to fit this Samsung.
Eventually I discovered a very nice substitute solution. Purchased the Altec Lansing FX3020 Soundbar and made a 24" patch DC power cord to tap the Samsung monitor's audio power jack. On SoundBar end, use Radio Shack Size K Coax plug, SKU 274-1567. On Samsung end, use Radio Shack 4.0x1.7mm plug (yellow tip with slits in inside diameter), SKU 274-1532. The Soundbar will force the user to give up about 0.75" from the lowest possible height adjustment.
Cons: Samsung has a long history of rebate scamming and I got bit for $50 on this monitor. I sent in the original UPCs and I rec'd a Samsung rejection letter saying I did not.
Other Thoughts: Great monitor. Really. Except for the rebate scam, I've been totally satisfied. Product recommended.

FANTASTIC!
Pros: Beautiful monitor. Bright, crisp and clear. Purchased this and 2 19" Acer AL 1917A's to replace an IBM 21" and 2 IBM 17" CRTs. Originally hooked through a 4-port D-sub/PS2 KVM as primary display for 2 PCs and 2 servers with the Acers serving as secondaries for the 2 PCs. Bright colors. A little tweaking on this brought the colors to be indisdinguishable from the Acers set to auto.
Replaced the D-sub/PS2 KVM with the 4-port Avocent DVI/USB KVM with USB hub and audio. (everything above purchased from Newegg)
Cons: I had to call Samsung.
Other Thoughts: After 5 months it started flickering when powered on. Made a call to Samsung and they immediatly shipped a replacement to local UPS store. I got an email when it arrived there 3 days later and swapped it out for a factory sealed NEW one, no credit card required. Shopping at Newegg for over 4 years I've spent $14,000+ here. Unless I need something NOW this is the only place I buy my parts and supplies. Unrivaled customer support when needed which is almost never becuase I know what I'm buying unlike alot of people that tend to writew reviews. I've never been disappointed with anything I've bought from Newegg. I've been writing justifyingly stunning reviews about Newegg since I started shoppping here. (I like the goodies they send me)

Good, but not for gaming.
Pros: + Very large size + Extremely bright colors, almost blinding. + Absolutely no ghosting in any applications or games
Cons: I guess my con will be a more comprehensive look at this (and I assume most other LCD's) monitors inability to produce accurate shadows. Whether you are watching a video or playing a game, the shadows this monitor is capable of reproducing are no where near the quality of a CRT. You can see layers of the shadow, which I personally find to look very poor. Even worse, with the future of games constantly evolving to more realistic environments with realistic lighting effects - this monitor is incapable of reproducing those to their exact quality. My personal belief is that you should be more worried about your computers ability to reproduce the graphics you are trying to view than your monitor.
Other Thoughts: Very nice monitor, nearly perfect in many ways. Perhaps it's only downside is from an environment which encompasses all LCD's.
Games I tested out shadow effects in; FEAR, CS:S, TF2, Half-Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Awesome
Pros: Amazing monitor. blacks are blacker than black. beautiful picture. pictures look more realistic than on my viewsonic va panal. the contrast ratio is perfect. i would prefer watching movies on this rather than an hdtv (if it came down to picture quality). the stand adjustment is great. HDCP
Cons: it does not have usb ports but for the price of this monitor i would not expect a usb hub. move video inputs would of been nice (hdmi) but lets get realistic here.. its not a tv. if you want to watch movies get a 42" hdtv then you can talk about blu-ray and what not
Other Thoughts: I am a future engineer and i know a lot about monitor panals and would recommend this to anyone. no dead pixels. gaming on this is beautiful. i see more (way more) detail on this panal in gaming than on my va panal. If you want more features get a more expensive samsung monitor but i beleive any monitor around this size is too small for watching movies so extra inputs would be useless to me. For this price the monitor can not be beat. highly recommended from a professional.

Take advantage of current rebate.
Pros: It's big, it's a widescreen, and in it's native rez of 1900x1200 it looks flat out gorgeous. Great color and text is very crisp. Switch to large size icons and use Firefox to more easily increase text size and you are good to go. Bought from Newegg, delivered by UPS. It arrived in good shape and worked perfectly right out of the box. No assembly, no bad pixels, no complaints. $50. rebate still in effect but must be mailed in before March 31st.
This is my first widescreen and I fell in love with it immediately. My Samsung 204B became an instant 2nd choice and I wish I switched to widescreen sooner.
Cons: None from my point of view. Some people might wish for greater viewing angle but I see no problem with it. I use it at home and sit in front of it at all times during use so it always looks perfect. Some may complain about a reflection from the glossy black case that puts a half inch frame around the panel but I only notice that in the daytime and it is not really a problem though I prefer flat black.
It shipped with a CD-ROM containing 2 pieces of tuning software. Magic Tune does not work and directs you to the Samsung Web site which also does not have a version that works. No biggie. Natural Color did work OK. The Web site also does not seem to have the most recent driver for the monitor. After installing I visited Windows Update which had and installed a newer one.
Other Thoughts: ASUS P5E, EVGA 8800 GTS, 2 gigs RAM. It also worked fine and looked great on my old backup computer, a P3-based machine with a Radeon 9800 Pro vid card and 500 megs RAM.

Great monitor to buy Recommanded
Pros: I have this monitor over 5 months bought from same local store for $329.00 on black friday. So far so goods, no issue. I have also bought Acer 24" and HP 24" vs this monitor. Samsung is much more better in Picture quality, response time, contract ratio. So I went and return other 2 and keep this one since then.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: wish it have HDMI on this monitor.. HP much look nice from from the look however because of the response time it 2MS G2G (grey to grey) is bad than 5MS Black to white. so instead of that hp about same quality as samsung.

Samsung rocks
Pros: Fantastic monitor, it's huge! Great color and contrast, very, very littl backlight bleed. No dead pixels, no ghosting, and crystal clear.
I now play all my games at 1900 x 1220 and it rocks! Took a couple days to get used to the large, wide screen. I found myself moving my head around a lot instead of just moving my eyes! LOL - - I'm past that now. Features are great, I love all the adjustments that the stand provides. No need to install the software... I just let Vista and my Nvidia software handle all the adjustments. I highly reccommend this monitor!
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Well worth the extra bucks over the 19 or 22 inch models. I compared this model side by side with the 226BW inch model and this is way better. The 226BW monitor is only an 8 bit monitor and shows a lot of banding on gradients... this one does not.

Superb.
Pros: TN panel or not it has great color, and can't be beat at this price. It is bright, but that is what the adjustments are for. This is not a Television it is a computer monitor, so I don't understand people giving negative reviews for viewing angles. I use it for gaming and it has absolutely NO ghosting using a EVGA 8800 GTS as GPU. Totally blows my old Dell 20 incher away in every aspect. I am totally satisfied and would buy another. No dead pixels either.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Great LCD for the price. Actually, hooked up to my new Mac Pro is awesome. I did have to tone down the brightness by 25% but still awesome.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: Great bang for the buck!!!

Very nice screen
Pros: Easy to set up. Software is also easy to understand.
Cons: I find myself adjusting the brightness often when going from the Intarweb, to games, to images. But I did this with my old CRT also.

Buy this monitor
Pros: I recently purchased this monitor to replace a Acer 2216 and oh man what a difference.
This thing is so awesome compared to the acer it is indescribable so I dont even know why im trying
The monitor has versatility on height and tilt features of the monitor.
The packaging is top notch
Cod4 at 1920 x 1200 is absolutly increadable I would highly suggest this monitor if you are running an sli setup like my self
The 3000:1 contrast ratio keeps getting me killed because Im constantly starring at the scenary and keep getting myself shot looking!
Colors are brilliant Loveit Love it
Cons: From back of stand to actual monitor user interface is quit a distance make sure you have room on your desk so its not to close to you.
Also puts off a ton of heat along side my high end gamer its enough to heat my house after a couple hours of gaming

Pros: This monitor rocks no ghosting or dead pixels. Software is a breeze but then again I didnt get Crapista still running good ol XP. For the reviewer named BOB, you should downgrade your technical understanding to novice because you could have went onto Samsungs website and downloaded the correct drivers. If you cant even do that maybe you should go get the GeekSquad to help you out.
Cons: none this monitor is flawless

Pros: Fantastic screen. I was somewhat nervous because people have reported some ghosting, however, my monitor shows no ghosting. I'm tried cysis, COD 4, and TF 2 on it and they all display flawlessly.
The screen is wonderfully bright and large. Looks simply beautiful. I love the swivel and tilt functions--they really come in handy.
Finally, no dead pixels!
Cons: Price--more than some other 24"s, but definitely worth it. You get what you pay for.

In Defense of Samsung
Pros: I've already written a positive review of this monitor, but had to write in to respond to the negative review someone wrote up because the software for monitor wasn't working on his Vista platform. When I installed the software, it specifically mentioned that if I was installing on a Vista system, that the disc wouldn't work, and it gave instructions and link on where to download the necessary drivers, etc for Vista users. Listen, I've been guilty of this myself...I order a product and I'm anxious to get it going. In my excitement, when I actually get the product, I overlook important information presented to me on the installation disc or accompanying brochures. Please read ALL instructions and PAY ATTENTION to installation disc info. Samsung is a great company and it shouldn't be blamed for our inability to follow instructions.
Cons: None

Bad for gamers
Pros: Very bright, Nice frame, Easy to setup...not much else.
Cons: The problem with this monitor is that there is an issue with viewing angle. The problem isnt that you cant see well from the side. The problem is you can see well from straight on. When viewing straight on (more noticable when playing games) the top of the screen is dim and the bottom is bright. You cant adjust this and i found it very disappointing. I tried moving the monitor farther back and that did nothing. I figured the people saying the viewing angle was bad were exaggerating but they werent unfortunatly.
Other Thoughts: Dont buy this monitor if your buying it for gaming. I was hoping that the bad reviews were just making something out of nothing but they werent. I was originally looking at an NEC and i wish i bought it instead. If your not buying this monitor for gaming you might be ok (which is why i think alot of reviewers cant notice it).

Yes, it is a TN display
Pros: Good monitor for the price.
Cons: No Pivot, No HDMI
Other Thoughts: To the poster who siad it's not a TN panel, it';s TFT panel....TN is a type of TFT. Look at Samsung's site
http://www.samsung.com/us/pdf/245bw.pdf Panel Type = a-si TFT/TN Again, nice monitor, but given the choice between this one and the 22" 1920 x 200 Lenovo L220x S-PVA panel for the same price , I'd have to go with S-PVA.
