Rating + 5 Great Monitor


Pros: Excellent Monitor. No ghosting and nice colors. The "opticlear" gloss finish makes it look even better. Some reviewers say the glossy finish is a con, but as long as you don't have a bright light behind you, the picture looks awesome with the gloss finish.

Cons: The glossy finish can make for bad glare, but if you have the room decently shaded, it's not a problem. The blue power light is a little bright.

Other Thoughts: The native resolution means that you need to run your video card at that resolution and can be a bit small for normal tasks. Make sure your video card can handle it. The 3 year warranty makes me feel better after my last monitor died 13 months after I got it (yes the warranty was 12 months).

Pros: Excellent quality bright display. I very much like the Opticlear display, glare is not an issue. Superior to all the other cheap LCD monitors I've used in recent years. Zero dead pixels.

Cons: None so far. If I wanted to be real picky I might say the setup/control buttons are flimsy, but I rarely use them.

Other Thoughts: I just ordered two more.

Rating + 5 Boys shouldn't cry...


Pros: Amazing! Brilliant color definition. Clear seperation of "dark & lights". Very nice menu buttons & options. 4 USB ports on-board! Silver housing matches my decor & doesn't show dust . Good response time for DOOM & QUAKE. Native res is perfect for most games @ high quality settings. Makes my video card happy :-)

Cons: Wish all 4 USB ports were on the bottom, (2 are on the bottom & 2 are on the side which makes getting the 2 on the side rough because my display is a corner, but I managed to 3M tape a USB port on the bottom of my self which turned out pretty effin' nice).

Other Thoughts: This display brings tears to my eye. It makes my computing experience wet, (with tears). This thing injected new life into my computing habits, (which lead to the demise of the relationship between my girlfriend & I: I wish she looked this good).

Rating + 4 probably the best 19" 4:3 LCD monitor that is currently available


Pros: Fast response rate, very uniform backlighting with no noticeable "leakage" on any side (just like I expected from LCD monitor made by NEC), very bright.

Cons: This is a 6-bit TN panel so color dithering is rather noticeable especially if you've been a long-time user of a good CRT monitor (like I was), the silver bezel+buttons are kind of distracting in certain situations and there's no other bezel color choice. No height adjustment.

Other Thoughts: This monitor has a glossy "Opticlear" coating, which can be either good or a bad thing depending on the lighting in your room - with no light coming into your room it greatly improves the contrast and makes color more "vibrant", but if you have a moderate level of light coming into your room (the direction doesn't really matter) - prepare to stare at your own reflection if you're gonna play a very dark-colored game/movie.

- everything except glare

Cons: - glare is ridiculous. It is pretty much unusable during the day. Admittedly I put it in a room with too much sun, but geez.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what I'm going to do with it. It looks great, and works well for me at night, but the rest of my family can't even use it during the day. I guess the old monitor is coming back and I'll...eat the $200 on this one. :(

Rating + 5 Sweet monitor


Pros: Replacement monitor for a customer of mine. Used it for a week to verify all pixels were working properly. The color and sharpness of this LCD monitor are very nice. Nice ultimate gaming nice, but I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone who uses their computer for primarily surfing the net.

Other Thoughts: Has a built in USB hub which put 4 more USB ports at your fingertips. Has a swivel base that makes adjusting the view angle a breeze. The forward/reverse tilt is very generous. Beautiful monitor

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor after trying the Samsung 906bw. I didn't like the widescreen at all as I don't play games nor much videos on my monitor. The text is much sharper on this monitor than the Samsung. I will give a slight edge to Samsung on color quality. I have yet to tweak my monitor so that edge might not last long. Nec was super easy to set up. Very glad I switched monitors. The Samsung was nice but I like the Nec much more.

Pros: Razor sharp. So bright that I turn the brightness down to 50-75%. Beautiful colors & gradients. Fast enough for gaming, although I have not tested yet in intense games. Intuitive, understated controls "float" just under monitor, including nifty "joystick" button. Optimal resolution is clearly 1280 x 1024. Incredible monitor for the money. NewEgg, how do you do it?

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: Some might miss the lack of swivel adjustment. Note this is a 5W x 4H aspect monitor. I like the added vertical room for page-shaped work.

Pros: This monitor is doing everything I hoped it would. Bottom line, buy with confidence!

Mine is hooked up via DVI-D to a Mac G5 and via D-Sub to an AMD Linux box. When both are running I can switch back and forth using the "Select/1-2" button.

The USB hub (hi-speed v2.0) has my keyboard, external hard drive and UPS status line attached, more or less permanently. The 4th port is open for occasional thumb drive use. I have a USB extension cable coming from each computer and simply plug the NEC hub input into the one I wish to use at the moment. Low tech A/B switch, but it works!

Comes with all the cables you need. USB hub is powered by the monitor itself, not by a separate power-supply box.

Cons: USB keyboard is not detected by either OS X nor by Linux during initial phase of booting when plugged into the NEC hub. It is fully usable once the system is completely up. My guess is that only the first level of USB ports are scanned for the keyboard during early stages of booting. Later on, the entire USB tree is chased and devices on the NEC hub are registered and usable.

Other Thoughts: Glossy screen is _NOT_ a problem. No flaws with pixels, bleeds, etc.

Part of the plastic case was not snapped together at one single point. Easily fixed once I discovered it.

I've not touched the menu adjustments since initial setup. Very low maintenance.

Proven to work with Mac OS X v10.4.10 and Mandriva Linux 2007.1 (Spring). No manufacturer's drivers required. I have no info about extreme gaming, 3D or multimedia video perfomance.

Pros: Excellent crisp image, no ghosting, though I'm not a gamer. Easy to control. The VGA autoadjusted image is so perfect that I switch to DVI only when got a docking station which didn't interact well with it via VGA. I've purchased FOUR of them through Newegg since Feb 2007. Arranged as a 2x2 multimonitor setup via an Ergotron deskstand. No dead pixels in all 4. Newegg is awesome!

Cons: Only the 4th shows slight bleeding of backlit at the bottom of the screen.

Other Thoughts: The screen is glossy, this is a con for many. Not for me.

Pros: No dead pixels.Very bright, had to turn the brightness setting way down.Excellent color,even better than my crt.Pricing in line with monitors that can't touch this in quality.Simple to setup.I've seen dozens of lcd's and this rates with the very best.

Cons: Very minor light leakage that's only visible on black boot screens.I see no leakage at all in windows.Who sits and stares at boot screens and gets annoyed?

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best and this monitor is well worth the money.Only time will tell about longevity but other NEC products I've owned held up great.

Rating + 2 Don't do it!!!!


Pros: I was very pleased with this monitor at first. It had a crystal clear finish and played movies as if I was watching HDTV. But after 2 months of having it, I couldn't believe what happened. A 2 1/2 dark strip spread right down the middle of the screen. I changed computers and video cards and no change. It happened after every 10 mins of operation.

Cons: New Egg is the bomb!!! They had this monitor to me in less than 3 days. I don't fault New Egg for this problem but I fault myself because I took a chance and bought a product that I was not sure of the brand. Pus, I never seen this brand in any store other than Walmart. Thats why they are dropping the price.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you research the brand and models of all products before you purchase them and PLEASE!!! read the reviews...

Pros: Best monitor I've purchased so far. I first saw this at a local store (whose name I am not allowed to list here) for about $300 and it stood out from the other 20 monitors on display. I came home and found it on newegg for about $100 cheaper. The colors are awesome. The built in USB hub is a great plus. You can never have enough USB ports. And buttons are placed in the perfect area. I used to own two Hyundai D90s and the buttons were built in underneath the actual monitor surface and were difficult to press. These buttons are a delight.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Looks very nice externally. Comes with color coordinated cables (grey / white). Comes with all the necessary cables.

Rating + 5 BEST LCD I HAVE EVER SEEN!


Pros: This LCD is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I originally decided to pony-up and buy an expensive LCD when my CRT died, I am extremely happy I did! Other manufacturers offer similar monitors, but none that can even touch the response time (4ms) or the contrast ratio! (700:1) Playing games with the "full bloom" turned on is worth it more than ever.

Cons: The OptiClear "shiny" surface can get annoying.

Other Thoughts: To correct my above Con, simply tilt the monitor.... or play in the dark ;-)

Pros: Cheap. Inexpensive. Didn't cost a lot. Somebody actually answers the phone at NEC customer service.

Cons: Color management software is really bad at certain color temperatures. Uneven backlighting from top to bottom. Default settings are generally way too blue. But what do you want for $200?

Other Thoughts: One dead pixel. A decent monitor if you don't need decent color management or want a second monitor for desktop overflow. An excellent entry level monitor.

Rating + 5 IT'S A GOOD ONE !!!


Pros: This monitor is really nice. It's actully light gray with a silver bezel which is very clean looking. I plan on getting a MacMini in the future, which should match well. I am currently using on a Dell Inspiron 9100 (DTR) with Radeon 9600 DVI port. Works great. Very bright - lowered it to 45%. Vivid colors, although like most monitors, I doubt if they are set accurately. I'd like to get a Pantone Huey to calibrate it. I was leery of the high gloss screen, but in my set up it's only noticeable when turned off. Then I can see my reflection. I'm sure if you had a bright window behind you it would create problems, but it sure does improve the image. World of Warcraft looks awesome on this thing. No dead pixels and no noticeable artifacts when gaming. A very satisfying investment so far.

Cons: It seems that text doesn't render quite as good on this as my older Samsung 930B, but it's not a deal breaker by far. I bought this for my wife, and the two monitors are only a few feet apart. I like my Samy, but jeezy peets, this thing makes it's image look flat and grungy. Bummer. I originally wanted an NEC, but they were too expensive at the time. Well they sure aren't now! Maybe someday I'll have one for myself. Sigh.

Other Thoughts: Having all the cables is great. My Samsung didn't come with a DVI which I didn't think was a big deal. But all the ones I found had those big honkin' ferrite gizmos on the ends which wouldn't allow the back panel to fit. Just recently got one made without them that would fit correctly. I do wish the USB hub wasn't up so high, but that's no big deal. Enjoy your new toy people.

Rating + 5 Glossy and bright and exceptionally clear


Pros: If you like a bright, glossy clear picture, this monitor is for you. I have a dual video card, so I have the NEC monitor sitting right next to my Dell Ultra Sharp monitor. It makes the Dell look dull and flat. I may have to buy another NEC to put next to the NEC the quality is so much better

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Unlike many other monitors, this one comes with the cords you need. No dead pixals. I wanted to buy this monitor while I was living in Japan a about three years ago but the price was around $600 then.

Pros: Excellent display, pictures look great, DVD playback is superb. I love the USB ports; one simple connection to the computer for keyboard, mouse, iPod, and media card reader. I also love the dual inputs. I have have my PowerBook connected to DVI and my PC to the VGA. I just change input to go back and forth between my two computers.

Cons: No height adjustment, but this is a very minor problem. Just find something to put underneath the monitor.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor last fall. I liked it so much I decided to get another. This is a great price. I prefer the resolution of a 4:3 monitor versus a wide screen. I, like most people, read top to bottom so the vertical real estate is more valuable to me. My wife says I'm happier since I got the new monitor. I hope she enjoys how happy I'll be when the second monitor gets here.

Pros: This monitor has a great picture. It is one of the better ones out there in this price range. The USB outputs are great for my wife and her flash drives for school. She was really happy with the look of this monitor.

Cons: I haven't really found any so far, unless you don't like the color silver. I guess the one draw back is that there are no height adjustments, but I can live without that.

Other Thoughts: The rotating base is very nice, and so is the cable tray!

Pros: ... almost none. clear, extreme contrast.

Cons: Okay ... where do I begin. Horrible ghosting in ALL of my games (CS:S, Oblivion, GTA, Stalker). Stupid glossy screen which reflects all light, which makes playing games in the morning a pain in the behind. Bleeding on all sides .... wow ... I totally regret buing this. I wonder if I still have the warrenty ...

Pros: This is an upgrade from a 5 year old mediocre CRT. Although I haven't figured out how to optimize fonts yet, everything else is spectacular. No dead pixles. Super Newegg deal. Delivery in 28 hours.

Cons: The fonts are not perfect but I have no experience with LCD. Too bright out of the box but easy adjustment.

Other Thoughts: Linux only system and no problems with non software adjustments.

Pros: Everything! USB hub is very clever and useful. Nice design; small footprint, easy-to-use menu, cord management. After several days of shopping I kept coming back to this one. Sorry, I haven't tried games yet, but looks great with pictures and text. No dead pixels...always a plus.

Cons: Vertical angle is a little low, but that doesn't matter when sitting =)
Power usage a little high compared to others, but still lower than a CRT.
Price makes me regret what I paid for my first LCD (17") 2 years ago.

Other Thoughts: Not sure how Newegg ships everything so fast...I'm starting to get spoiled!

Pros: Had this monitor for 14 months and so far its been great. The quality of the monitor is still awesome and the display is still holding strong.

Cons: I previously reviewed this monitor and gave it 5 stars, but after 4 months of owning this monitor I started to get burn ins at the bottom of the screen from light to medium gaming (2-3 hours.) Games such as warcraft 3 and starcraft with the fixed bottom portions would create background burn ins and not go away till 12+ hours of no usage. Also no matter what stays on the screen only the bottom would get burn ins. I am curious if anyone else is having these burn in problems? I contacted NEC Display and getting the monitor warrentied, but have to shell out 50$ for them to send a monitor and shell out another 20ish$ for shipping this one back. The other option was to send the monitor and get it repaired and have a turn around of 2-5 (which is really 10+ days). Of course i had to choose the first option because 10 days as a college student without a computer just doesnt work.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor, best display view for 19 inch.
Have to send photo of the problems to NEC support.
Customer Service is great, but the solutions are not at least budgetwise.

Pros: This monitor is extremely bright; I had to turn it down pretty low to not wash out my wallpaper. The display is very clear. I am impressed by the menu system for controlling monitor configurations; it is very easy to use. The preconfigured modes are also handy for fast switching. The USB hub is handy as well. I'll buy another when I get a video card that will support them. I reviewed several other monitors and researched them for two months before I made my decision, and I have no regrets.

Cons: No height adjustment, but that's acceptable for the price and quality.

Other Thoughts: I may have to get a new desk to fit two monitors now. :P

Pros: Ok, I'm going to start off by saying that when I turned on this monitor and started up my games i literally orgasmed all over myself. This thing looks AMAZING and I cannot put enough emphasis on that, the gloss finish is by far a huge PRO in my opinion.

I received it with ZERO dead or stuck pixels.

Viewing Angle: The viewing angle on this thing is REALLY good for an LCD, the best I have seen.

Response Time: The advertised 4ms response time is confirmed, absolutely no ghosting in any games I play. cS source, world of warcraft, fear, far cry just to name a few.

Color Rendering: From what I can see the color accuracy of this beast is top notch, its factory defaults are good, and then if you don't like them they are FULLY customizable to anything you would like. The default brightness is set to 100 though, hehe you might want to tone that down a bit.

To sum this all up, I could not be happier with my purchase, and for under 250 dollars!? Add to Cart.

Cons: ... I had to clean up the mess after I orgasmed ...

Other Thoughts: USB ports are also a huge plus on this for me, comes with a good DVI cable. Everything is built really sturdy and is not cheaply made. Looking at this monitor is like looking at heaven. AGAIN... ADD TO CART.

Pros: Wow. This monitor simply blew my expectations away. Compared to other LCD monitors I have seen, the text looks clearer and graphics are more crisp. Next to no ghosting in games. Definitely worth the money. No dead pixels and Newegg got it to me quick.

Cons: The blue light next to the power button bothers me a bit on darker games. I'm sure I'll get used to it though.

Pros: The clearest LCD display I've used. Almost TOO bright ,but it doesn't wash out when the settings are maximised. Love the color-goes well with my "trad" platinum cases. The status LED can be dimmed...very thoughtful feature.

Cons: I would have paid more for the same feature set with rotation/height adjustability. But it can't be faulted for what amounts to for extra-cost features.

Other Thoughts: To the poster who went on about "scarey" (sic) Japanese companies...well..NEC IS a Japanese company. A very old one. I could go off-topic with that ,but I won't. Suffice it to say , this is a superb piece of equipment from an established brand with a comprehensive warranty. It's screen treatment has real benefits in terms usability and lessening of eyestrain and is unique amongst its peers. The "argent" case color scheme goes well with older machines (and newer Apples). I haven't tested the "speed" of the display ,but it appears to be state-of-the-art. I'm writing this in Win 2K which has esthetic "issues" ,shall we say :-).We'll have to see how it looks in Vista & XP later. Verdict? I'd buy it again in a second.

Rating + 5 Great first LCD monitor


Pros: This is my first LCD monitor, and so far, it’s fabulous. I’m seeing a range of colors that I’d never seen before, and all my games and programs look more vibrant and sharper than ever. I’m a pretty active gamer, from HoMM5 and Civ4, to UT2004 and Prey. No ghosting whatsoever for most of my games!

Cons: So far, the only game that has given me any visual issues is FEAR, and that’s probably due to the fact that the game doesn’t seem to support the monitor’s native resolution of 1280x1024. Other than that I would only say that the default brightness is a bit too much, but that can be fixed easily through the settings.

Other Thoughts: I can already tell that working with CAD and other productivity applications is going to be so much better with this rather than my old CRT monitor. I’m glad I’ve made the upgrade.

Rating + 5 The Best 19" LCD Money Can Buy


Pros: This monitor is one of the best purchases I ever made. It is extremely bright with 400cd/m2 of brightness and the 700-1 contrast ratio makes everything look crisp and clear and is great for gaming. I did not have to adjust the contrast, brightness, or colors when I hooked it up for the factory presets were perfect. After I hooked it up I tested it out with the games that I have and found no ghosting at all. The gloss on the screen does wonders for the picture and is an added bonus. Also I found zero dead pixels once I turned it on. For the cost it is a little pricy but worth every penny. If your looking for the best 19" lcd money can buy than this is it!

Cons: I tested this monitor out after I hooked it up and couldn't find one thing wrong with it!

Pros: Silver design, big, bright, somewhat fast response (4ms), decent colors.

Cons: Bad backlight bleeding.
Dead pixel in the center of the screen, a cluster of about 3 of them, too.
Incredibly bad viewing angle.

Other Thoughts: Had to send my first one back because it randomly stopped working,
replacement had smudges and fingerprints on it out of the box, came with a cluster of dead pixels... my first order didn't have any. Just my luck. Don't listen to the reviews that say it
looks better than a CRT, that's just bogus... doesn't even come close--and don't get it if you plan on doing graphic work.

Pros: Great price on a great monitor. As usual, Newegg was prompt and gave shipping tracking number. Nice glossy finish with no reflection problems. Great color, etc, etc. Now I'm just waiting for NEC to come out with a similar monitor at 24" :-)

Cons: Mine had one dead pixel. It is a red pixel stuck-on, so it is not visible most of the time (only shows during startup when screen is black or if screen is blue in that area). But it is 90 percent to left edge, so I'm OK with it - especially considering how little such a great monitor cost me.

Other Thoughts: Seems to remember its last state when power is removed (which is a good thing). I have a switch console so I can turn on computer/printer/monitor/etc, with a single button. Fortunately this monitor is smart enough to power up when the AC is given to it without my having to turn it on separately.

Pros: Very, very bright LCD, clear and crisp images, no noticeable ghosting while playing FPS games. Easy setup, specific drivers and color profiles were easy to find at necdisplaysolutions.com - the usb hub is nice and the monitor is nice looking too, goes exceptionally well with my silver case.

Cons: Native resolution of 1280x1024 may make text a problem with poor eyesight, while this can be easily fixed through modification of Windows settings, it's very minor. Occasionally the glare from the backlight or sunlight through the window is mildly annoying. Not that bad though.

Other Thoughts: I was running a GeForce 7900 until it died, replaced it with a cheap ATI Raedeon X300SE until my RMA 7900 arrives, and it still looks incredible. Should look marvelous with any video setup.

Pros: Beautiful picture. No dead pixels. Display easily moves to any position necessary. Swivels smoothly on its stand with the touch of a finger. No geometric screen adjustments necessary, and there's a 4-port, USB 2.0 Hub on the Monitor! Both VGA AND DVI connections make this is a Great Display for the money.

Cons: A spot made especially for mounting an iSight or other type of camera would have been nice. Better yet, intergrate a high quality camera into the display.

Other Thoughts: The built-in USB 2.0 hub gives me a great place to connect my scanner, which is plugged into a bottom facing USB port on the display. Also having two USB ports wonderfully placed on the side of the display creates super easy access to USB 2.0 for the 2GB flash drive in my pocket. And I still have USB 2.0 ports left for great speakers or a USB microphone. You just can't beat this one!

Other Thoughts: I am using 2 of these monitors on my PowerMac G5 with an x800 XT graphics card. Using one adc->dvi adapter to power second. Its works flawless. I do graphic design with photoshop,illustrator,cinema 4D and these displays really hold up in terms of color and print accuracy. To put these monitors to the test I tried World Of Warcraft,Sims2,AOE3 and had absolutly no issues or ghosting. Possibly those who get ghosting are not using staright dvi connectors or have there refresh rate set wrong. These monitors like 1280x1024 and 60hz. I am considering buying 2 more of these for my pc. great product and i recommend it to anyone! newegg came through with overnight shipping when i paid for 3 day.. i love you newegg!

Pros: I was worried about the highly reflective screen causing problems with glare. However, this monitor is so beautiful, those few times glare is an issue don't seem to matter (e.g. when the sun is setting and reflecting light into my office; I don't have any problems with the lights in my home reflecting on the screen). The colors are very rich and there is no flicker like on my old CRT I have never seen a more beautiful monitor. The design of this monitor is very modern and pleasing to the eye. In addition, the controls are very intuitive and easy to use.

Cons: There are no real problems with this monitor. I could see that in a particular environment the highly reflective screen could be an issue. However, as I mentioned above, the glossy screen makes this monitor 5 stars.

Other Thoughts: I would make this purchase again without a second thought. I went from a Sony Trinitron CRT that I adored, to the 90Gx2 that is so bright and so clear that I could never look back. Like others, I turned down the brightness and had to make a couple of adjustments with my video card software, and baaam! Perfection. Without question, this is the monitor to buy, especially for the price on newegg.com!

Pros: Do your homework, and you'll find this is an amazing deal. The places online that rate monitors put this NEC right up at the top, plus the NewEgg price was way lower than anyone else I could find. No problems installing it, and the picture is outstanding.

Cons: There was one stuck pixel. Googled "stuck pixel" to find out how to fix it. Problem solved.

Other Thoughts: I'm a satisfied NewEgg customer. Besides the great price, there was free shipping when I ordered it on a Friday afternoon. It shipped the same day and I got it the following Monday. I won't buy anything like this without checking NewEgg first.

Pros: Excellent resolution. Very readable text in the 1280x1024 native size. I was worried about using mail-order but no dead pixels...YAY. Display was next to my old 19" gaming crt in a sunlit room, maybe some have a problem with reflection but the contrast was so much better than my monitor, it was simply amazing. I could read it clearly and all colors and darks just simply stood out. Would Buy Again!

Cons: 4msec refresh. Doesn't play movies with lots of black contrasts well... to be expected with the 700:1 Contrast ratio.

Other Thoughts: I can't play dark games like Doom3 with my monitor during the day without drawing the curtains, not so with this one. The screen is also 2 inches taller than my 19" monitor's screen.

Pros: Of the dozen or so LCD's I've owned, I like this one the best. Text is sharper, colors more vivid. Of all the SXGA, TN panel LCDs, the 90GX2 certainly is a contender for "Best In Class".

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not perfect, but its flaws are few and slight. Blacks could be blacker, of course (as is the case with all TN panels... but at X-Bit lab test of 0.53 nits with White = 100 nits, the black is average for TNs). Mine has a SLIGHT backlight bleed across the bottom, but it's masked by Windows Task Bar. The BrightScreen reflection which detractors highlight as negative (wrongly so in my view), is barely noticeable, even when I focus upon seeing it. Overall, the positives far outweigh the minor negatives.

Pros: Excellent picture detail. Very easy to navigate menu. This replaced my older 19" monitor, and the difference is simply amazing. No dead pixels.

Cons: Be careful with the brightness when you first power it up. They seem to be shipped @ 100% brightness level, and it's VERY bright. I currently have mine set at a mere 17%, and it's plenty bright enough!

Other Thoughts: NEC is a good name to trust. Sure, there are cheaper price, but this is the monitor to beat for the cost, no doubt....

Pros: What a great surprise..I finally put away that 50lb 5 year CRT and plugged this monitor in..The room lit up and the picture very sharp and clear.Not one dead pixel..and I haven't seen ghosting on any of my FPS games..the DVI-I really made the difference when I plugged it in and my computer finally recognized it..

Cons: Slight light leak around top edge.
Very bright when it arrived so I turned down the default brightness to 80%.

Other Thoughts: It was worth paying a little more for this than i intended..all my games look new as well as all my pictures.

Pros: No dead pixels ! One the best LCD I have ever seen. Sharp fonds and the color is just out standing. An excellent base to support the monitor. Good wire management. The two leads can not be seen unless you go to the back of the monitor.

Cons: The only possible improvement would be a height adjustment, which maybe need by some users. No portrayed adjustment either, but again not used by many.

Other Thoughts: I have owned it for close to a year and are very please. Payed $400.oo for it so it is even better priced now.

Pros: I have been a huge fan of CRT for games for years, but when I saw this monitor in action I was amazed. Not only is it fast with no ghosting or tearing..it has a beautiful bright picture. Text on this bad boy looks much better than my ViewSonic Graphics Series CRT did. The coating on the monitor is very very bright.

Cons: The gloss coating on the screen might be a problem with some people with light sources coming toward the monitor. In my case my windows in my room are on the sides and not even my TV which sits behind and next to me show glare. So for no...NO CONS!!!

Other Thoughts: Swivel Base, 4 Port USE 2.0 Hub, and gloss coating make for some excellent features...

Pros: I reviewed this monitor a few months ago and only gave it four eggs because of a couple minor irritations. One was the relentless non-native resolution warning. Eventually I stumbled across the fact that it could be turned off through the menu. Guess I should RT*M. My other complaint now seems overly picky given the superb performance of this moniter. So I am writing this second review to give it the 5 egg rating it deserves.

Pros: Very Vivid Color, Nice glossy screen, Looks very stunning. Bought it from BB and it stood out from all the other monitors there by far, you look at it and you mutter under your breath "Wow"... (at least I did)

Cons: None - (That "Resolution Notifier" that reminds you when your not in the native res. can be shut off btw lol. Press the "Menu" button on the monitor and goto "Menu Tools" there you will see "Resolution Notifier" ;) turn it off.

Other Thoughts: Um would have bought it from Newegg, but I don't like the Brown company or the fact that I'd have to wait so I bit the bullet and got it from BB. (Don't wana say company names.)
Very nice I'd recomend it to anyone who wants a nice monitor or gamer.

Pros: As a gamer, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this display can keep up with my GF8800. It doesn't exhibit the streaking or ghosting like other LCD monitors I've used in the past. Very bright and sharp display. Bright enough to light up my office if it's the only thing on! Convenient USB port expansion on the left side. The screen has a shiny surface to it rather than your typical LCD/Laptop display. Because of this, it doesn't seem to scratch as easily when you wipe it off.

Cons: Very minor - doesn't tilt down far enough. I have my monitor sitting pretty high relative to my head while sitting at my desk. I have to put a couple of magazines under the back half of the base to angle it down a bit more.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with this purchase. There aren't many LCD monitors that I've seen that are this bright, and clear.

Pros: Where do I start? I LOVE this monitor, and have owned it since the January of this year. So far, no dead pixels or any other problems. Here are the pros:

-Picture looks awesome, when you look at it in person at an electronics store, it DOMINATES the other ones.
-Opticlear screen, makes colors look more vibrant (like a TV), great for watching videos and playing games.
-Fast response time. While all LCDs have ghosting to some extent (the only inferior aspect as conpared to CRTs), this one is much less noticable than the other monitors I have seen. In fact, unless I am looking for it, I don't notice it.
-It has a USB hub built-in, which I use for a mousepad I have that lights up. When I turn the monitor off, it cuts power to the mousepad, so it saves me having to turn both off individually.

Cons: I've noticed very few negative things about this monitor, and they are all minor. But here they are:

-Power on/off button is a little loose, have to jiggle it around to turn monitor off (I'm used to it now).
-Slight light leakage at top of screen (though almost all LCDs do this).
-Glare can be a problem if you don't position the monitor right, so make sure you angle it right so you do not have a light source behind you.
-Height is non-adjustable. Since I use dual monitors (this is my primary), I need the picture at same level. However, I easily fixed this by propping the monitor with magazines underneath it.
-Wish it came in black (all black, including the front).

Other Thoughts: Monitor comes with USB/DVI/VGA cables. Power button has a blue glow. Also, I noticed the picture is VERY bright at factory settings (100% brightness). I turned mine down to 55% brightness. It still looks plenty bright, and it isn't blinding (the 100% gave me a headache). I STRONGLY recommend turning it down, because I said so.

Pros: Stunning picture quality. When monitor is turned off it reflects but when it is on it's bright and there is no reflection as long as you don't have some reflective surface behind you that reflects sunlight on to the monitor. It's bright and the responce time is very good. If your computer can run all the games you play at native resolution, you'll be happy with the picture quality.

Cons: As stated previously, as long as there is no reflective surface that gets a direct hit from sunlight behind you, everything is alright.

Other Thoughts: It comes with all the cables. USB hub is a nice feature even though I only used it once. Resolution is amazing if only my video card could output enough fps to run smoothly on different games, I have an old computer. I run games one step below the native resolution.

Pros: Just wanted to state that you can disable the native resolution warning(I just found this 6 months after my purchase). It is in the Menu/Tools part of the menu.

Amazing detail, crisp images and text. Almost too bright, but it is a plus to be able to tweak as I need. I also hooked this monitor up to my Xbox 360 (I can't spring for a nice hd monitor) and the quality is great. Actually looks better hooked up to the 360 in some of my experience than the computer.

Cons: Vertical viewing angle is bad. I just noticed this playing my 360, but I can't complain since it wasn't meant for someone to be jumping up and down while playing Rainbow Six with a controller.

If you're coupling this with another monitor, know that you can't adjust the height. I program and work in 3d programs and didn't have any problem adjusting between the 1.5" height offset, just keep your tools on one screen, your workspace on the other.

Other Thoughts: I had my heart set on a cheaper monitor until I went to a local store and saw this beauty for myself. It stands out so easily from any other monitor this place carried, and they had about 30 different LCD monitors at least. Get this puppy and you won't be sorry. Price is at least 1/3 lower than when I got it, so now I'm looking to replace my older 2nd 19" lcd with another one.

Pros: I'm actually thrilled to come home to this monitor, color looks like it's painted on the screen! You can't really ask for anything more.

Cons: None, except for the fact that I'm seriously considering a dual-monitor setup. And maybe another two for work. It's monitor crack.

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit when it first came out and it was worth it with a much higher price tag. You'd be insane to pass up the deal here.

Pros: The quality of the images produced by this thing are incredible. I have used / purchased many LCD monitors and this is the best I have had. If you see this at a retail store it will not do justice. Bright and crisp. Be sure and go to NEC site and get the updated drivers and you will be amazed. Games, DVD's are fantastic.

Cons: Cant think of one negative.

Other Thoughts: I read a couple of reviews and one complained about the glass screen being too reflective. Don't let this deter you. I notice no glare whatsoever.

Pros: Nice tilt and swivel. Adequate on-screen controls. Has quick change mode button (standard, gaming, text, photo). Viewing angle is better than expected. USB hub works great. No bleeding and the backlight is very even.

Cons: Shiny like glass so it reflects light. No height adjustment.

Other Thoughts: I got no dead pixels. The reflecting is not that bad and well worth the performance over the dull matte finish of other monitors like my cheap dell. The ghosting in games is minor. It took me about two days to get used to it, now I don’t notice any ghosting at all. I didn’t go widescreen due to some games not playing well in widescreen.

Pros: Clear, sharp, high contrast display with no flicker. USB hub is a plus.

Cons: Uh, well, I guess the setup menu might be better, though it's probably a 5-star as well. Newegg price is higer than some retail stores if you have the time to shop around.

Other Thoughts: I've had a Hitachi superscan elite 751 and a Mitsubishi diamond pro 930sb both of which I thought were pretty good until I sat this monitor next to them. I've found nothing to complain about with this monitor. It is easier to read text with it's highest resolution and at a greater distance than either of my other two at 1024x768 and 1+ft closer. If you've got the $$ this is the best I've seen. The image is so vibrant that it sucks you into it and you forget about the initially annoying reflective screen. If you have a white background (wordprocessing and spreadsheets) you may not even notice the mirror-like finish. I've not noticed any ghosting.

Pros: I don't do much gaming. Mostly spreadsheet analysis, so sharp text was critical. No LCD this size was good enough for me to quit using my 19" CRT with a .20 pitch - until now. I looked at every TN, IPS, PVA and MVA monitor and this one had the best reviews for text.

I'm very satisfied. Sharp picture, great colors, no dead pixels and the Opticlear makes everything POP!

Cons: None really. Opticlear is only an issue when the screen is all black, which is very seldom for me, otherwise it's a huge plus. I only wish NEC had Opticlear on a 20" model.

Other Thoughts: Screen resolution warning is easily disabled. Press "Menu" button, use toggle to go to "Menu Tools", select "Resoltion Notifier" and turn it off.

This monitor should last until the new SED monitors are out next year. The specs on those are unbelievable!

Pros: Been using a gargantuan Sony 500PS CRT monitor, circa 1999, as a gaming monitor because for years no LCD came close to matching its fabulous display quality. Have bought several LCDs in hopes of finding an acceptable monitor smaller than the Lincoln Memorial for my desktop. Well, they are now all on non-gaming computers. Tried this NEC because of glowing review in Maximum PC magazine. Display quality is best I have seen in a LCD. Only a couple of disappointments.

Cons: When playing BF2 (my current obsession), I find the green HUD-type aiming reticles for vehicles tend to disappear when aiming at targets in they sky. Have not found a way to correct this problem. Not a issue with my CRT. Also, NEC pops up an incredibly annoying message that complains when you are not using the native resolution. It does this for every application that opens and requires that you press a button on the monitor to make it go away. The native resolution makes everything so small, I never use it. I don't want to be nagged about it 20 times a night. I am deducting one egg for these two problems.

Pros: The picture quality is amazing -- images are sharp and bright. Dual inputs let me connect two computers to the monitor at the same time. USB ports on the monitor are very useful.

Other Thoughts: I compared this monitor with several top samsung, viewsonic, and acer monitors. Many of them had specs that were similar or better than this monitor. It goes to show that raw specs are not really indicative of quality. I strongly suggest that you go to a local store and check out the monitors before buying them online. This NEC is at par with the expensive SONY lcd monitors (which I regard as the best), and I am sure you will be happy with this purchase.

Pros: To simply say Wow, is a huge understatement This thing is gorgeous! I'm not sure exactly what Opticlear does but this Screen is vivid. ~

Very bright & very clear, blows anything I've owned out of the water. Makes my Sony WEGA look like old news. WOW ~

It also doesn't hurt to have it running on a Nvidia Geforce 7800 Video Card, with triple shielded 24kt. Gold Monster DVI Cable :)

Cons: The only real con I have is about the shipping. ~ UPS "3 day select" seems to always take more than 3 days. Newegg did a great job of processing and shipping, UPS didn't.

I guess It wouldn't have been such a big deal if I wasn't working off of a 10 year old 14.4" CRT with fading color and a missing VGA pin :(

Other Thoughts: You absolutely get what you pay for. I will never go back & buy another cheap no name monitor again. Honestly I can't, my eye's won't let me. ~ To sum it all up in one word, this monitor is Gorgeous.

Pros: The Opticlear sets this monitor apart from the get go. Sleek and well featured options make it a great value that carries you well into the future for many years of use. Glare is not in issue. Great front controls with miniature joystick make for easy and fast adjustments. The four different viewer settings utlizing the front control switch is a an outstanding feature.

No dead pixels. I'm loving life with this monitor!!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I originally had this set up with analog settings. Was not too happy with the text clarity. Video card software adjustments did not do much. The actual monitor had a manual setting for "fine tuning." This made all the difference in the world! I would highly recommend that you use your monitor with the analog setings for a trial run before switching to the digital connection. I'm currently running digital(the monitor doesn't have the actual 'fine tuning' option with a digital connection, only analog mode) and think that things were much, much better in analog mode. Will switch back soon.

Pros: The picture on this thing is absolutely beautiful! I have never seen anything so nice. The picture is wonderful, the higher resolution gives you move space on your screen, and the USB ports brings everything to your desktop and away from the floor.

Cons: I can't look at my TV the same way. The picture just does not compare to this monitor.

Other Thoughts: Someone once posted the USB ports cut off when the monitor does. That only happens if you cut the monitor off manually. When the PC puts the monitor in standby, the USB ports stay fully functional. Great for those who have a USB mouse, keyboard, or flash drive. There is no real need to cut the monitor off completely unless you just cannot stand to part with the 2 cents a year it costs to run that orange LED.

Pros: Sharp text, terrific colors, good black (not perfect but very good), not one dead pixel. Easy to use on screen controls, the small "joystick" makes easy work of adjustments. No black bezel like 99% of the other LCD monitors out there. Goes well with my silver/off white speakers and tower system.

Cons: No cons really. Slight (and I mean SLIGHT) amount of light bleed at top and bottom, faint and barely noticeable.

Other Thoughts: I have used many LCD monitors at work and have always been disappointed with them. I ordered this monitor instead of some of the less expensive models hoping it would have the quality of a CRT. Was I ever impressed when I powered this up and connected it using the DVI cable.

The price for this was a bit more than some other models I considered but was well worth every penny! The D3LL UltraSh*rp I'm using at work pales in comparison to the quality of this display. The opticlear screen just amkes everything on the screen POP at you! I highly recommend this monitor!! I knew someone would finally get an LCD to not only be comparable to a CRT, but to actually exceed it. I can honestly say I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Pros: Amazing for gaming, Movies, Photo editing, anything.

I've used Maya, Photoshop, etc for Editing and havent noticed any problems at all.

Took some time getting used to from CRT, maybe a day or so, Im using 8200k Setting in color and it seems to be just right.

For gaming, or anything, you can't go wrong.

Now im sure some of you will go and be like *well*, the Viewsonic 2ms is better!**, Not really, it hurts your eye's and it sucks for 2d plain and simple, just save your cash and buy this.

I'll Definately be buying a second one now :)

Cons: The USB ports turning off when the monitor is disabled are kind of a downer, especially with my Plantronic GameComPro 1's, but aside from that, everything works as it should, if not better.

Other Thoughts: I had this for a good bit now, Im Quite fond of it, Using the DVI of Course, I'm Truely diggin this, For Gaming, editing, or ANYTHING, this thing can do it better.

In comp. to a CRT, this thing wins hands down due to its vivid color display and nice gloss finish.

Pros: This monitor is just outstanding. 19" of bring, fast, crisp LCD goodness. The integrated USB hub (especially the one in the back!), the cable routing system, the relatively small physical footprint, the great picture, the bright backlight... I could go on forever on how amazing this thing is.

Cons: The integrated USB ports (two in the back, two on the side), while incredibly useful, require that the monitor be turned on to be operational. The navigation button is a bit touchy.

Other Thoughts: I went from a low- to mid-range 15" CRT (running off of the analog RGB connection) to this high-end 19" LCD (digital). As one of my friends predicted, my face practically melted at the difference.

Pros: Awesome specs that don't disappoint. Best high quality CRT replacement LCD available for below $xxx. Zero dead pixels. Great color saturation across the entire screen at reasonable viewing angles. Simply gorgeous.

Cons: No height adjustment, but that's somewhat moot.

Other Thoughts: Be careful if your typical PC environment is bright, or if you have a lot of sunlight in your room. The glare from the monitor can be an issue. Basically if you already have some glare issues, this monitor would likely make it worse. If not, then this thing is an absolute jewel.

Pros: This is truly a great monitor. No dead pixels, no edge bleeding, and definately no cheap quality. I'm always freaked out to buy things in this price range, but I made the right choice on this.

Cons: No height adjustment. I have a 5.1 speaker system and I would like to place one of the speakers directly under the monitor but it won't fit. Oh well, not a biggie.

Other Thoughts: The picture on this thing is amazing. Some would consider the glossy screen a con, but it's more a matter of choice. The manufacturer put it there because it makes a better and clearer picture, but if you are going to have the monitor facing lights or a window than this is obviously not going to be the best choice.

Pros: Looking for an LCD with the clarity of a CRT. After a year of looking and compairing, I finally took the plunge to LCD. Couldn't have made a better choice. All the spec's are better than the competition clear screens. "WOW" was all a friend that works with photography could say.

Cons: Took some time to set up exactly like I wanted, but this is my first LCD.

Other Thoughts: Didn't need the extra software from NEC. I don't play high end games, but I have no ghosting, dead Pixels, or bleading. Just a very clear and crisp screan.

Pros: Crystal clear.. the gloss screen actually makes for more vibrant colors and blacker blacks than any other matte LCD I've seen. I use it for graphic design so I love how detailed the photos appear on screen. The hidden swivel in the base is a nice touch.

Cons: Very bright & contrasty... sometimes makes my eyes tired. But maybe it'll force me to take more work "breaks" :)

Other Thoughts: beautiful design / the silver is very sleek. Cord organizer on back is very very nice.

Pros: Crystal clear picture. No ghosting ( I am not a gamer but in everyday use and watching movies I have seen no vapor trails). Vibrant colors.

Cons: Glossy finish on screen makes for a lot of glare. You have to place the monitor away from light source glare and then it is great.

Other Thoughts: Very pleased. Only downside is the glare which I solved by taking it out of the path of window & lamp reflections.

Pros: Fast, good colours, easy settings. USB plugs are handy.
Nice looking. Perfect pixels. Gray cords easy to distinguish in the rats nest of them!

Cons: BLEEDS around the edges and in an appropriately oblivion gate shaped patch in the middle. Not too loudly, but still annoying, esp. on dark backgrounds. RMA time. If dell can make a screen w/o bleed why can't these idiots?

Guess if I untimately have to see the blood, I'll take the vx922. I'd rec the same. Colours are a little little nicer, it's possibly faster, and it has no glossy screen, which is useless.
