Rating + 5 Great monitor!

Pros: A big, beautiful monitor. Works like a charm--no dead pixels, no problems whatsoever in the time that I've owned it. I use it on my gaming PC and all my games look gorgeous on it.

Cons: None.

Rating + 1 Terrible Support

Pros: My viewsonic monitor has been acting up for more than 6 months and I get wavy lines if I turn the brighness level down and after this problem my brightness level was also fading.

So I sent my monitor for repair and I include everything that was included in the retail box on end of December and they received on the the 7th of January. So I wait 3 weeks and still on repair. Supposedly on the 16th business day Viewsonic isn't able to to fix it I get a replacement. On the 19th business day I give them a call and they told me something like inventory didn't take place until the 12th of January and that they can't send me a replacement even though it's been 19 business days since they received it. So I ask for email of the Customer Service dept and I emailed them letting them know my frustration. I get an email back next day telling me I will get a replacement. My original monitor had a DVI connection and they were trying to replace it with a lower model with no dvi connection. So I asked

So I asked them for one with DVI connection and they told me they fixed my monitor instead and it's on it's way.

Other Thoughts: I finally got my monitor back not in my original box I sent but in some RMA box with no power cord or dvi cables. It was also missing the back plate of my monitor. So I emailed them supposedly they will send me the power cables and dvi cables but no back plate of my monitor. The funny thing is the monitor now makes wavy lines when I first turn on the monitor which it didn't do before. I have to wait a good minute or two until the image settles down.

Moral of the story. Do not buy Viewsonic for warranty support. Google "viewsonic warranty complaint" and there are literally hundreds if not thousands of complaints for this company.

Rating + 5 Great monitor

Pros: Looks good, big, cheap. 2 years and no dead pixels.

Cons: If you get picky about it the brightness isn't even across the screen. I had to run screen calibration stuff to find that out.

Other Thoughts: If you are super picky about your color and brightness this isn't the monitor for you. Of course you already knew that when you saw the price.

Rating + 1 Beware

Pros: Arrived with no dead pixels. Fairly large size

Cons: paid 500 when it first came out, Died 6 months later, sent it in and it cost me 65 bucks in shipping charges. Repaired model still working strong.

Other Thoughts: Viewsonic should have covered the shipping i will never buy another Viewsonic because of this

Rating + 5 Solid product

Pros: Definitely a good buy. I run dual monitors, but my other is a smaller VGA LCD, and it pales in comparison.

Cons: One stuck pixel (red) that I haven't been able to get out, but it really is only noticeable when it is on a white background. Not a big deal.

Rating + 5 Good buy

Pros: Good look, it swivels which makes it easy to get to the back for cables. I've had this for a year and it has worked great. Great bang for the buck, I don't know if I would trust many other brands. It works, and has worked for a year, that's the best pro I can think of.

Cons: The buttons on the side are not marked, makes it hard to find the correct button without looking closely to see what you are doing. Trying to navigate the menu is tough because of this, especially in dim light. I never use the speakers, but for a while I did and they had problems, kept switching on and off randomly.

Other Thoughts: One time I had this running all day with movies and TV, non-stop. It shut off for a few hours, I think it overheated. It wasn't a big enough deal to figure into my rating, if anything it shows how reliable it is, recovered fine. I would recommend this monitor to anyone, the jump in price for a 24" isn't worth in in my opinion.

Rating + 1 Horrible Customer Service

Pros: Great quality and resolution for the ten months it worked.

Cons: Terrible ViewSonic Customer Service.

After ten months the monitor went out randomly. I proceeded to return the monitor via the limited 3 year warrenty. If the monitor had been in stock, I would of gotten a new one but since it wasn't, I was told it would be repaired and sent back to me after at most 14 business days.

They received the monitor on the 11th (UPS Tracking Order), however they didn't get around to checking it in until the 13th, so the time limit didn't start until then. The monitor was finally shipped out 22 business days later, and I received it 6 days later without any of the cords sent back with it.

Other Thoughts: I highly doubt this to average life of a Viewsonic monitor, but this does show that if something goes wrong with your monitor. You can count on them doing the absolute bare minimum required by law to fix the problem. So now, I have been without a monitor for almost 2 months, and after having finally received it back, I have to go out and buy another cord to use it.

Rating + 2 Dissapointed

Pros: Great monitor when working. I have two in an extended desktop configuration, and the calibration out-of-the-box seems to be identical, even with photo test targets. They're sharp and bright, and I like them.

Cons: About 4 months ago one of the two suddenly could not be recognized by Vista. I'm dual-booted with XP on the same machine, and XP still recognized it for a while. It stopped working altogether after another 2-3 weeks. I reurned it to Viewsonic under warranty, but it took about 6 weeks to get a replacement. I' don't know what was so hard to diagnose - it certainly wasn't repair time that held it up since it was replaced with a refurbed unit. Now the same thing is happening. I'm not sure if it is the one that failed before or the one that has been good since purchase, but it's two failures out of two monitors that are about a year old.

Other Thoughts: Viewsonic used to be considered one of the best monitor suppliers. What's happened?

Rating + 3 Ok monitor

Pros: - 22" monitor
- 85hz vertical refresh rate!
- 1680x1050 resolution
- very little ghosting
- the stand is nice

Cons: - lots of bleeding from the top and the bottom (only really noticeable when the picture is black or very dark)
- I still notice ghosting (nothing really major)
- colors out of the box are washed out (didn't want to mess with the color, see other thoughts)
- only 700:1 contrast ratio (most monitors are around 1000:1 without DC)
- seems like it only has 16.2 mil colors (most monitors today have 16.7)
- speakers are useless...

Other Thoughts: My brother has two of these monitors (both had dead pixels on them, one had only one and the other had two) and I borrowed one for a couple of days till my monitor came in the mail. Since the monitor was not mine I did not want to mess with the colors, so I don't know if I could make the colors fuller but as of right now the color red looks really washed out, the other colors I could not tell. The monitor is good, but not great. Another thing I am not sure of is if the response time is 5ms BTB or GTG; that is something that I would look up b4 buying the monitor.

Rating + 5 Great monitor

Pros: Monitor has a sharp, clear, colorful picture. No stuck or dead pixels, and no light bleed. The monitor can be elevated or lowered, which is a nice feature depending on your desk setup. The stand is sturdy. I have owned it for around a year now and the picture has remained the same - the 1680x1050 looks great in every game I've played, including F3, WOW, Age of Conan.

The monitor looks very nice - the black and the bit of silver around the edge give it a subtle accent. My friend has actually commented on how cool/large this monitor looks (even though he has a Dell 24 inch).

Cons: The monitor has made a strange popping/clicking noise starting about a month after I bought it. At first I was concerned - you don't really want monitors and tv's making noises - but the noise is never accompanied by any degradation or problems of any kind, so I never did anything about it, which may have been foolish depending. The noise is not particularly bothersome or annoying and I guess I've been too busy to do anything about it.

Other Thoughts: I have a e6420 (OC to 3ghz), 2 GB DDR2, Nvidia Geforce 7900GS OC, SATA 3Gb/s Samsung HD. With this monitor all my games have always been crystal clear and the monitor keeps up with the other components.

Getting spoiled and the screen is starting to look small to me - NO monitor less than 24" can get 1920x1200 resolution - max you're getting is 1680x1050. Still looks great, but something to consider.

Rating + 1 Monitor Good; Warranty Service Terrible

Pros: Monitor works well and has a good warranty period.

Cons: Backlighting isn't great. I had the monitor for 2 years with no problems. Then the monitor failed to display an image. I was happy to find that it was still under warranty so I got an RMA and sent it in. Took over a month to get it back. 2 weeks passed and the monitor failed in the same way again. Worked with tech support to identify a bad backlight (shine a flashlight at the monitor while its on). RMA it back again to have the backlight replaced and I'm still waiting. Since the end of August, I've had my monitor for 2 weeks. :-(

Other Thoughts: This was my second Viewsonic monitor, the first being a 19" short depth CRT that lasted for over 8 years.
Next time, I'll probably get a monitor from Dell, and it definitely won't be a Viewsonic.

Pros: Great picture, height & angle adjustments

Cons: The built-in speakers suck.

Other Thoughts: We have 5 of these in the office now, and they're all great. One of them, connected to an older computer, is being run at a lower resolution and scales it very well.

Pros: Sharp image. No dead pixels. overall extremely satisfied.

Cons: just nit picky stuff. sound obviously ain't great. Buttons on side are a little small. also I use both DVI and VGA inputs and the controls to switch are through the menu using the small buttons. Would be nice to have an input button.

Other Thoughts: At full resolution, this baby is sweet! so much area of space. Word doc open next to internet w/out overlap.

Rating + 3 Really that bad?

Pros: This monitor was great for the 11 months it worked for me. Except for plug and play issues, you can read about online if you search.

Cons: Just recently, exactly one year after i purchased it, this monitor is no longer detectable by either my laptop or pc.

i sent it back to view sonic, and its been over 14 business days, they keep giving the run-around.

They automatically tried adding 5 days to my RMA status instead of honoring the arrival date. Luckily, i kept my tracking number to prove to them they received it on the 20th, and not the 25th like they forced me to believe. They have no problem changing the date if you keep your tracking number.

The last 3 days I've called have been the 14th day. Tomorrow I'm supposed to get a new monitor. Yesterday i was supposed to as well. Well see what happens.

Other Thoughts: If your willing to wait over a month and dealing with customer service who tries to schmooze you into additional days of RMA, then this monitor is for you. If i had known this about View Sonic's customer service, i would have chosen a different monitor.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor

Pros: Great 22" widescreen Monitor with no dead pixels. What sets this one apart is the Excellent Height & Tilt adjustments. Most other monitor's have very limited height adjustment. The screen is bright and beautiful. I upgrade my monitors on a regular basis and this was a good choice for me. I am using this baby for a new gaming system I just built so I can rock&Roll in COD4.

Cons: $$Price$$300.00- Not really a con because you get what you pay for. You can get a 22" widescreen monitor from a different manufacturer for $100.00 less, just not with the quality and adjustment features this unit has. I like for my monitor to sit higher up so I was willing to pay more to get exactly what I wanted.

Rating + 5 Excellent desktop monitor

Pros: I love this monitor. I use it as a regular monitor at home and a gaming monitor when lugging my 360 around. Excellent resolution, color quality, response times.
The swivel and tilt functions of the monitor seem simple but they're nice to have and I have come to really not like monitors that don't do them.

Cons: I can't stand the tiny little buttons for the menus and volume on the lower right hand side. It seems great that there's only one single button on the front, but i like accessibility.

Other Thoughts: This was the best buy that I could find when I bought it last October. It still is an awesome monitor that is nice and versatile, not to mention that it looks good too.

Pros: Very nice monitor. I use it mostly for office apps and web browsing, but also watch HD TV off air w/ my tuner card and it looks outstanding. The kids love it for their gaming too.

Pros: Great picture, ok sound. This monitor is awesome, I hooked it up to a brand new Vista machine that I just built for my wife, and its like you're looking through a window not at a computer screen.

Rating + 5 Great Monitor

Pros: Great design, sharp picture, nice colors, and no ghosting or dead pixels. I've never had the need to use its speakers, but they're probably just so and so. The ability to both raise and tilt this monitor is very nice, and one of the things I was looking for in a monitor. (surprisingly MANY models don't even have a stand that goes up or down). My previous monitor was a 19" (18" viewable) CRT of the same brand that I had for years, and this one runs circles around it.

Cons: I will mention that the packaging of this monitor was pretty scary. The back of the box actually had a second piece of cardboard taped around it, which looked strange. When I opened it up the original piece actually had a huge hole in it, yet the monitor and inside packaging was in perfect condition. (which leads me to believe that the hole was made prior to putting the monitor in there, which is good). Luckily there were no issues, just a slight scare at first.

Other Thoughts: This is my first LCD monitor, but I knew what to expect after doing a lot of research on LCD's for a long time and looking at different models and reviews for each. Originally some reviews made it seem like 5ms wouldn't be great for gaming, but I got this and it works great. So, I can safely say now that anything 5ms or under will give you no noticeable ghosting. Also, always calibrate a monitor and fix its colors up when you first get it. It really made a difference with this monitor, and now colors are much more vivid and the contrast/gamma settings are much better now. I'll also mention that I used the Nvidia control panel to change the settings and it worked out nicely.

Pros: Was a decent monitor, no complaints on picture, no dead pixels (out of 2 monitors).

Cons: Had to rma my first one of these as the digital input died after a cpl weeks.... Now the 2nd monitors digital input has died after about a month...

Other Thoughts: I wasn't even mad about the first one, I know it can happen. But now to have another one with a very similar failure? I've lost faith in viewsonic. At least the analog input still works so I can use it, but very dissappointed.

Rating + 3 nice monitor ba customer support

Pros: Let me first start of my saying that the monitor is great, one of the best monitors I had as long as it does not break on you. I had the monitor for about 10 months when it broke and had to send it out for repair and here is where the problem starts. If I just had to rate the monior it would have been 5 eggs but you must rate the monitor and the Warranty it comes with the Warranty took 2 eggs off the rating on the monitor.

Cons: The customer support for any RMA really stinks. When I called for an RMA because the monitor would not turn on for more then a second they told me aboaut 2 weeks turn around time, well 2 weeks I did not have a problem with but right now it's been around 11 weeks and still no monitor.
First they sent my monitor back to someone not even in my state, then I been promised 3 times I will have it with in 2 weeks and two of those times by a manager of customer suport. The 3rd time they promissed me not only did they have my original monitor back from the person they sent it too but they could not send it for over a week due to inventory but as soon as inventory was done the manager was going to have it rushed for shipping and send 1-2 day shipping well guess what 10 days later I still do not have it. My last call to them once again the manager could not tell me why the monitor did not ship yet and did not know when it will ship out.

Other Thoughts: I started to report Viewsonic to the BBB and you must read the problem with Warranty people are having and waiting months for the items.
I have taken this one step more and filed a report to the Attorney General for CA State as well, sick of companies pushing us little guys around because they think we have no choice but to take what they dish out. I will no longer buy any Viewsonic for home or for my work as well. I got a new HP monitor now because I could not wait any longer for my monitor to be shipped to me. PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS ON VIEWSONIC ON THE BBB WEBSITE !

Pros: Nice big clear picture. Movies look great!

Cons: nothn really... just lil annoyances. A blinking message saying to disable this message press button two. I have yet to find button 2 before the message disappears all together. Also, the screeen saver/power saver works inconsistently even with updated drivers. I wouldn't mind a adjustable height on the screen too.

Other Thoughts: oh well, my primary concern was the picture and that's cool

Rating + 5 Great monitor!

Pros: High resolution, great brightness, very nice clarity, fast response time, extreme viewing angle possibilities? If you're looking for a monitor that fits a budget and will work for a long time and gives you everything you'll want from a monitor, then this is it. The display hasn't had a single dead pixel yet (and I've owned the monitor for almost 9 months). It hasn't given me a single problem at all! Very high quality, as to be expected from Viewsonic. The buttons on the face still click after being used so many times, too. I can't however, say much about the speakers, since I literally have never used them. I have another sound system I use. However, being 2 watts, I wouldn't expect much out of them.

Cons: There's a little ridge on the top that collects dust over a long period of time, that's it.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor for everything a monitor needs to do and at a great price. I would definitely buy it again given the chance.

Pros: Great monitor for what it is, not much else to say. I like the height/tilt adjust and style of this monitor over others. I don't use the speakers so can't comment on them, and wouldn't expect much if I did use em heheh.

Cons: I would have given this thing 5* but my first one died after 2 weeks. Stopped recieving digital signal thru dvi input. I'm not one to make much of a fuss about it as I know these things happen sometimes, and it was quickly resolved with RMA replacement after a call to viewsonic for a casenumber.

Other Thoughts: Woulda been nicer not to have to pay to ship the first one back... But I'm happy for now, if 2nd one dies I won't be.

Pros: No dead pixels. Crisp display. Great for gaming. Movies look good too. Excellent value for the price. My second monitor from this manufacturer with excellent display quality.

Cons: Some minor back-light bleed through in a dark room when screen is all black, but that's to be expected from an LCD at this price. Can only notice it during movies, which I don't watch often at my desk.

Other Thoughts: I don't use the built in speakers, so can't comment on those.

Rating + 3 Bad luck I guess

Pros: Widescreen, good response time for an LCD. Rotates on axis.

Cons: 3 lime green stuck pixels. Returned to Viewsonic directly and the replacement they sent back has 1 red stuck pixel near center. Paid expensive shipping charge to ship across the country to them.

Other Thoughts: I've tried getting rid of the stuck pixels using software and rubbing gently, but no luck. None of the pixels would become unstuck after months of trying on and off. This is my very first desktop LCD monitor. I've had a CRT up until this.

Rating + 5 Additional notes

Pros: Height adjustment, bright enough, decent viewing angle, rotates, etc.

Cons: I wasn't disappointed with the product in any way, really.

Other Thoughts: the one thing I want people to be aware of with the display is that it has color banding. It's most obvious in white to gray and some brownish-red to pink-white gradients, but you may notice that color variation is a little bit wavy when you expect it to be a straight uniform gradient. So yes, there is some color banding. But it's not like this is a really expensive panel, or that the banding is a big issue, just something to be aware of.

Pros: No dead pixels, adjustable height.

Cons: Poor contrast, can not get all shades of gray to show using ColorVision Spyder2 device.
Vertical viewing angle poor, I would expect a VG series display to perform better, the VX I have at work is much better. Also the blue power light is too bright.

Pros: My boyfriend got one of these monitors for his birthday from his family last year. He had mentioned at some point that he wanted another one to match up his set (he has two connecting monitors) So I decided to get the matching one for our Anniversary/V-Day present, and it was a hit! I am soo happy and really glad that it got here so quick.
I was a new customer and now I think I will be a returning one!

Pros: Great picture and NO BAD PIXELS. No real blur to worry about when playing Crysis. If you turn really fast I could get blur, but if you can hit something when during that fast, you are good.

Cons: A little bit of light bleed at the bottom of the screen when booting computer but I can't see it during game play. I was worried about getting bad pixels and they all worked so I am happy.

Pros: NONE

Cons: Monitor lost video signal within 1 month of purchase. Return to Viewsonic on 12/3/07 after receiving authorization. As of 01/16/08 still no idea when monitor will be repaired after numerous phone calls and registered letter.

Other Thoughts: Check the BBB for a company report of Viewsonic before purchasing any of their products. I did not and that was my mistake.

Pros: Very good picture quality. Auto-adjust is very accurate on the first try. All cables are included (DVI, D-Sub, Power, and Audio). The silver trim around the outside is nice.

Cons: The integrated speaker is terrible. I personally never use them, but if you were to use this one, you would be very dissapointed. It's like laptop speakers from 5 years ago.

Other Thoughts: The adjustment buttons are on the side and very non-intuitive. Not a show-stopper by any means though.

Pros: I have nothing bad to say about this monitor. I upgraded from a veiwsonic 19' CRT and I am not looking back. It is easy on the eyes has a crisp clear picture and handles all my games readily, and looks good to boot. Not a single dead pixel upon arrival, and as always Newegg got it to my house lighting fast.

Cons: I had to arrange my wires better now as my CRT wouldn't hide them:-) I'm not sure that is a con though.

Other Thoughts: The height adjustment is great. I am 6'2'' so at the tall adjustment it is perfectly at eye level. My speakers fit right under it also. I don't use the speakers on the monitor so i can't comment on those.

Rating + 3 Bad Backlighting

Pros: Screen is huge. No dead pixels. Sharp image quality, no ghosting. Good response time, fast enough for gaming.

Cons: Uneven backlighting.

Other Thoughts: My serious complaint with this monitor is that the backlight is noticeably brighter at the bottom of the screen than at the top. I can see the difference in color from top to bottom on my solid color desktop. I did a test in Photoshop: opened an image, duplicated it, put one at the top of the screen and one at the bottom, and adjusted the bottom image so it looked identical to the one at the top. I had to adjust the bottom image brightness down 10% to match appearance.

The problem was so noticeable that I called ViewSonic and they told me I had a defective monitor. I returned it and got a replacement monitor, but the new monitor is the same.

In most apps this doesn't matter a lot and I don't notice the effect much playing games. However it's a major issue if you plan to do image editing.

After having good luck purchasing my last couple monitors mail order I really feel burned on this one.

Rating + 5 This monitor makes me feel like a better person.

Pros: 22" widescreen: How have I lived without you for so long? Every day I spent staring at the blurry, flickering image from my old 17" CRT was a day I could have spent basking in your perfect, high-intensity glow. No dead pixels, no stuck pixels, no complaints! Had it running analog at first, and while I was impressed, I'll have to admit that I can see the difference when running over DVI. Sweet digital molassy! I'll admit - I almost sprang for a 19" 5:4 LCD. Given that I was looking for an adjustable stand, I only ended up spending an additional $40 to save a whole lotta regret. Despite what I said, it's not entirely perfect; previous posted comments remarking on back-light bleed and good-but-not-fantastic black levels are valid. However, given that 99.9% of my time will be spent looking at Eclipse in its widescreen glory, I'm not worried. It's sturdy, it's pretty, the adjustable stand works fluidly and flawlessly, and I feel I made the right choice.

Cons: The speakers aren't much to write home about, though if you bought this screen for your hi-fi needs, serves you right. Given that I had no speakers before, though, they're definitely an upgrade.

Other Thoughts: The package includes power, VGA, DVI and audio cables, so no worries there. Yes, the bezel isn't the slimmest, but otherwise I'm pleased with the ergonomics, especially the height adjustment. Bear in mind the height has only two settings, down and up, and that the speaker pushes the screen up higher. Yes, if you move your head around the screen you'll notice colors go dimmer, but it's not pronounced at all, and on the whole the viewing angles are in the better range of the LCD screens I've seen. If you use this as your work monitor that'll be a moot point anyway, as the swivel works incredibly well. Finally, Newegg, I salute you! Though I suppose I was lucky the monitor only had to go from NJ to Brooklyn, I still get choked up when I remember how I ordered this on Tuesday and had it at my front door Wednesday morning. Newegg, I'd like to take you out for a beer.

Cons: Speakers are so-so (but what built-in monitor speakers aren't?), side controls take a little getting used to (about 30 seconds, maybe?)

Rating + 3 Do not believe the manufacturer's stated vertical viewing angle.

Pros: Bright, clear picture. No dead pixels. The swivel, height, and tilt adjustments make this monitor really stand out from the crowd. Newegg's service was great, as always. I received the monitor only 2 days after I ordered it.

Cons: Do not believe the manufacturer's stated vertical viewing angle. Noticable changes in contrast occur simply moving your eyes from the top to the bottom of the screen. If you view the monitor from below perpendicular, the image will fade to black quickly and eventually invert colors. Changing head elevation without adjusting the screen tilt will cause text to become unreadable.

Other Thoughts: This was my first LCD monitor. When I purchased it I was unaware of the different types of LCD screen matrices, but I have since learned a great deal about them. This monitor, along with all other 22" widescreen LCDs currently on the market, is a TN Film display type. This means it has a fast response time, but terrible vertical viewing angles. For a monitor of this size I found the vertical contrast differences unbearable. I gave this monitor to my wife and ordered a CRT screen for myself. I am disappointed that Newegg's knowledge base didn't include any information about the different types of LCD matrices, as I would have really liked to have had this information before I ordered this product. I encourage everyone to research the different types of LCD monitors before making a purchase.

Pros: The VG2230wm is a great value for a 22" widescreen display. The picture is crystal-clear, installation was easy...now made even better with 2 side by side as I purchased another to complete a triple-monitor setup. ;) Highly recommended!

Cons: Accompanying software is somewhat useless. Speakers don't provide the best sound...there are MUCH better ways to output computer audio, though. Wish the cables were a few feet longer...

Other Thoughts: NE's shipping and processing times are second to none...thanks Eggheads!

Pros: Big but not heavy, widescreen, beautiful and crisp! This is a high-quality display and the price is very reasonable. The built-in speakers actually sound all right, too.

Cons: Macromedia Flash-based installation software is mildly annoying.

Other Thoughts: No dead pixels or problems of any sort. Haven't tried Photoshop with it yet, so I can't give an evaluation for situations where color precision is important.

Rating + 4 not bad

Pros: Great resolution, great color, nice adjustable arm unlike so many others with a fixed position.

Cons: Horrible light bleed, I don't understand how people can say it doesn't. I came from a Viewsonic CRT and I know what black looks like. Watching a movie that is 16:9 creates small top and bottom bars that are a bright gray and are quite distracting from the viewing experience. As with all LCD's this is the case, but man I hate it. Black is just bright gray even after turning down the brightness/contrast.

Other Thoughts: For the price paid, it is a good lcd screen, I just wish they made plasma's this small so I could get a decent picture for the price I paid.

Rating + 5 Decent, solid monitor

Pros: Although I nearly purchased the next model up with an Ipod docking station, this monitor was on sale and too good to pass up.
Love the adjustable arm.
For a 700:1 monitor it is plenty bright in an office setting, and has no backlight bleeding problems.
The resolution size sounds odds, but I assure you it is easy and natural to work with.

Cons: Inbuilt speakers are tinny and weak for music playback. Perfectly fine for Windows beeps, bloops and notifications, but use something better for music or movies.
The resolution will definitely spoil you; it will be hard to go back to a smaller monitor.

Other Thoughts: There are much cheaper devices out there now (Acer comes to mind) with similar specs, but when I buy one of these for my wife I'm still getting another Viewsonic. I know I can trust them.

Pros: Visually very good. Image takes on a very warm look at extreme left/right viewing angles, but straight on, crisp, good colors, no dead pixels, and bright enough.

Cons: Clean styling ruined a bit by a gaudy aluminum-look trim strip that bulges on the bottom left and right edges, goes over the top and bulges again in the middle. A failed attempt to spice up the styling.

Other Thoughts: Excellent functionally especially for $300, but clean

Pros: Absolutely beautiful displays. I could not tell ONE thing wrong with either of the two of these I bought from newegg. That's a LOT to say, folks. Color, brightness, viewing angle, everything -- even the stands they come with. Wow.
... Oh, & they're BIG. Check the measurements & use a tape measure v/s your desk.

Cons: When I bought them, they were about four bills apiece. As of the date of this review, they're 3 bills apiece. The price must be the only con with these, though.

Pros: Great LCD. Runs great with games, don't see any ghosting at all. No dead pixels. Did have one stuck green pixel in the lower left corner. Went away after a days worth of use.

Cons: Not the monitors fault but 1680x1050 is almost too much for an 8800GTS 320MB in newer games running at or near max settings. Some light bleed at the edges. Wife is nagging to get one of her own.

Other Thoughts: I was a hardcore CRT guy till my 22 inch Viewsonic CRT died on me. It was going to be another $150-200 more than this LCD to get another good CRT at 22 inches. Purchased after doing some research and crossed my fingers. Haven't looked back since it arrived.

Pros: exceptionally clear, bright, not much light bleed at edges, no stuck pixels at all on delivery, sturdy easily configurable stand

Cons: if your eyes can see the difference on a good CRT between 80 and 100 Hz refresh rate, you may notice slight pixel "buzz" with this monitor.

Other Thoughts: this is my first LCD monitor for home use, moving from a beautiful ViewSonic 22" CRT, the P225. The P225 supports ridiculously high refresh rates, and my eyes got used to it! Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to compare the "buzz" I've noticed with the VG2230wm to other "good-to-game" LCD monitors. Perhaps something with sub 5ms response time would look better to me?

Pros: Sleek. Good Value. Most adjustable monitor ever.

Cons: Speakers suck (to be expected). Would have liked dedicated volume control.

Other Thoughts: Very good monitor. No problems whatsoever with the deisplay. No dead pixels; brightness and color were consistant thoughout. As noted, the speakers are lame. Not a problem if you use seperate speakers like the vast majority of users out there. Though, for the life of me, I can't understand why these speakers don't sound anywhere as nice as the free snap-on speaker bar I got with the 17" Dell this monitor replaces. Not having dedicated volume buttons/dial is a pain as you have to migrate through 3 menus on the OSD to copntrol the volume. Clearly this is not as good as some of the next tier 24" monitors running higher resolutions. But unless youu need HD connections for TV veiwing they cost a lot more ($xxx) for 2 more inches of viewing area. Very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Besides Newegg's fast delivery (2 days), the monitor had no dead pixels. I got this model due to height adjustment and matt black finish. Many monitors in this price range now skimp with no height adjustment and have a gloss black or silver finish, which can reflect light (annoying/bad when photoshopping).

Cons: Slight light bleedthrough at the center top and center bottom of the panel, but it is minor to me.

Other Thoughts: I'm driving it with an analog video card now, and the picture is clear and bright. A DVI signal should be better. Great monitor for this price range.

Swivel and height adjustment is better then any I've used or tested.

Cons: They need to lose the "stylish" metal trim around the edge. My workstation has three of these and the trim forces the monitors to be farther apart then I like.

Rating + 5 Nice Monitor

Pros: Rotating (turntable) base, and the vertical height adjust work really nicely. Whenever I want to show someone else what's on my screen, I can just turn it towards them. Compared to other LCD screens I've used, less light leakage, but still some apparent. Also lighter weight than some, which is nice if you have to move it. Makes a good movie viewing screen for dorm room. Can put on movie and point it at the audience.

Cons: 1 stuck pixel, apprx. 2" to the right and .25" above the lower left hand corner. (Doesn't bother me, I've seen LCDs much worse off for dead pixels.)

Other Thoughts: I use this as 2nd display for my laptop w/ x700 mobility 128mb on Ubuntu Linux. There is significant color difference between the 2 screens, but I am not sure which one is off, I tend to the view that they might both be off in different shades. No trouble driving both displays @ 1680x1050, though most games seem to default to mirror mode in full screen. Can't seem to get a correct big desktop at 1280x800 + 1280x800 for some reason (thinking it might have to do with monitor DPI differences). Have use speakers once, they are better than my laptop's, but not near as nice as my 2.1 logitech. I might have had a past review and I think my opinions have improved slightly with time.

Rating + 4 Good monitor but the expectations were high!

Pros: Size is awesome not just because I switched from a 16" monitor. Easy to install and set up. No major issues. Great sharpness, more than enough contrast and brightness.

Cons: Vignetting (at least they call it that in photography)! The brightness of the image gets less towards the 4 corners of the screen. That bothered me in the beginning, but now I don't notice it any more, only if I look for it. Also, when the screen is "black", there's some (what other users may describe as) minor bleed through around the edges. Non in the middle. That however doesn't bother me. Because normally I don't look at a black screen.

Other Thoughts: The expectations were high due to the raving reviews. It definitely IS a great deal, but not flawless. Compare prices!

Rating + 5 Nice bright monitor

Pros: Great size, clear text, bright display.

Cons: Haven't found any real problems. I can't figure out why once or twice a day there is a little bit of "phasing" on the upper left portion of screen. Basically looks like the screen is warping. It's very moderate and I'm think it's system specific because I own two of these and it only happens on one.

Rating + 5 Viewsonic Graphic Series 22"

Pros: Attractive LCD monitor and amazingly beautiful picture. Easy to adjust height and tilt. Viewsonic contruction is great.

Cons: None, but don't plan on the speakers giving much more than adequate voice.

Other Thoughts: Other manufacturers are good, but after a history of comparing Viewsonic against other brands, Viewsonic ususally wins out in our experience. Great monitors from a great company.

Pros: Amazing picture; many others have already stated how awesome this monitor is.

Cons: Can't really complain about it. I don't use the included speakers - I would guess relatively few people actually do use them. When running a game at non-maxed resolution, popup displays about optimum resolution, but it can be disabled - no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Truly an amazing deal for anyone looking to step up to a nice, large, wide screen. Works excellently with the games I play (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Battlefield 2) - no ghosting issues at all.

Rating + 5 Will suprise you when you open the box!

Pros: Sharp and colorful, but make sure you put some time to change the default setting. THE BEST MONITOR YOU CAN GET IN THE MARKET WITH THE LOWEST PRICE EVER!!!!!!!!

Cons: WHAT? Are you kidding? At this price you are a dumb old man if you don't buy it, and I mean it.

Other Thoughts: No dead pixel at all. No leakage even when the screen is totally white or black.

Rating + 4 Good image, icky sound

Pros: Beautiful screen. Very crisp. Controls are straightforward, buttons are well-placed. Love the mute button. The neck is easily adjustable and brightness is more than I'll ever need.

Cons: I needed some built-in speakers for increased desk space, so I opted for this model. I have smashed many clock radios in my day, ergo Ican report with confidence that these speakers sound even worse than most clock radio speakers. And I mean bad. I also have one dead pixel. I cannot complain about one measly pixel among the millions of working pixels, but I would be remiss not to mention it.

Other Thoughts: Did I mention that the dead pixel is red and distracting? Other than that, factoring the horrible speakers, it's still an awesome monitor at a great price.

Pros: Big! I initially went from a 21" crt screen to a 19" lcd screen. There was a somewhat noticable decrease in size... in comparison, this screen is gigantic! Great image, looks crystal clear.

Cons: None that i can think of.

Rating + 5 ViewSonic knows how to build 'em

Pros: This monitor is fantastic. I have it hooked up to a new system I built with Windows Vista Ultimate via the digital DVI connection, and the colors and details are vividly amazing. The graphics just seem to want to leap off of the screen! There are no dead or stuck pixels that I can detect. Ghosting? Bleeding? What’s that? It’s good-looking hardware with a sturdy base, and the height adjustability is a plus (I’ve seen other reviewers here state that you can only set the height of the monitor to be either all the way up or all the way down, but I’ve found that to not be the case in my experience – I’ve been able to adjust it in marginal increments). To put it simply, this type of large display just makes using your PC an extremely enjoyable experience.

Cons: Well, I don’t think this model employs HDCP, but I don’t know if that’s going to be an issue or not. It’s going to take some time before high-def DVD drives are common on PCs. Right now, all I can say is that this minor characteristic is not taking away from my appreciation for this monitor.

Other Thoughts: I was almost going to go with a different brand, but I ultimately opted for this ViewSonic. I’ve owned two CRTs from this manufacturer before, and they’ve served me well. Get this baby and you probably won’t be disappointed. This was also the first time I ever ordered anything from Newegg, and I’m very pleased. Delivery took no longer than a few days. You guys are awesome!

Rating + 4 Nice Monitor

Pros: Height Adjustment-- I wanted a screen with height adjustment, otherwise I'd probably have gotten a cheaper screen.

Pretty bright. Lighter weight than I expected.

Works fine.

Cons: There are cheaper 22" screens. Has some very slight light leakage (way less than my laptop LCD) and also has somewhat nonuniform brightness at higher settings.

Other Thoughts: 1 stuck pixel, right on the left edge of my lower gnome panel. Can't even notice from more than a foot away.
Default colors slightly off, but easy to fix.

I'm using as the 2nd display on an Ubuntu big desktop setup with my laptop's ATI card and it works OK. The other really nice thing about it is the rotating base.

Overall, very satisfied, but wish there'd been a cheaper monitor with height adjust/base rotation.

Pros: Crystal clear screen, looks great at native resolution.

Cons: Built in speakers are not worth your time.

Other Thoughts: Most complaints on these comments aren't worth your time to read. Most bad ones are for DOA. People that take so much notice of the "Flaws" need to get a life.

Rating + 2 Dissapointing

Pros: Nice and big, adjustable height is nice.

Cons: The speakers are a waste of resources. Came with one stuck pixel right in the middle, luckily I was able to fix it. Significant bleeding around the edges when viewing black. Only has a 60hz refresh rate.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because of all the good reviews for it but now that I have it I am disappointed. I might even stick with my 19 inch.

Rating + 5 VERY NICE

Pros: Clear, Quiet, No dead pixels, fast response, Sound is even decent when you go into the LCD settings and max it out before changing the PC volume output. Had a 21CRT and this is so much clearer and crisper.

Cons: None. Never seen a Super High End LCD but I cannot imagine better.

Other Thoughts: I Play World of Warcraft and the play with this LCD is the envy of all 8 other players in the house
