The pictures are very sharp and flawless. It is a really simple plug and play type of monitor. Highly recomended. Cons: None that I can think of. DONT'T go to Newegg, and if you ask them for a proof of purchase with your serial number on it, it won't happen so don't try. doublejack Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week	2/15/2006 12:05:15 PM Disappointed Pros: very slim and small footprint, base folds up for easy transport, very bright whites, no dead pixels Cons: the auto picture adjust is Terrible with a capital T, the response time is insufficient for gaming, the color accuracy is poor - everything looks washed out a bit, like a picture taken in to much light, and the lack of DVI input results in slightly fuzzy text. Other Thoughts: Every time there is a signal change (reboot, coming out of power save mode, switching resolutions, etc.) you lose your image settings because the auto adjust kicks in. This is beyond frustrating. When I switch from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 the auto adjust shifts the screen down about half an inch. This creates a black bar of empty space at the top of the screen, and the start button gets pushed off the bottom of the screen. To fix this I have to manually adjust the picture position higher - every single time. I would only recommend this monitor for an environment like a library, where it will be run at a constant resolution and not be powered down, and a cheap price is more important than quality. My first LCD and now I wondered why I waited. I may not have exotic demanding use for it but I can't find anything that I don't like. If there is a dead pixel someplace, I can't find it. Pros: Exellent image quality(Fair control over it,but good out of the box).No ghosting or image smearing with movies or games(like quake,fear,far cry e.c.t). Great price and a great buy. Cons: No 1600x1200(not a big deal at this price). Not very adjustable(it can't tilt forward) Dosn't have DVI,but again...your not paying $400+ Other Thoughts: Monitors are hit or miss...they either work well or they are doa/rma.If you get dead pixels on ANY lcd it dosn't mean the display model is junk,it means you got a bad apple.Send it back and get another. (Had to tone it down a little). No dead pixels. Good moinitor for general use after a color calibration. Cons: Like all monitors in this class, it's not the best for detailed photo editing. Cons: Do not buy this monitor if you are doing any graphics work. I know that LCD's are not the way to go if you want color correctness but this monitor is atrocious. There are very dramatic shifts in color intensity from the top to the bottom of the monitor. I know this tends to happen with all LCD's because of viewing angle but i've never seen it this bad. Pros: Very small footprint, easy to set up, bright, clear, crisp picture. Cons: None yet. Other Thoughts: I bought three of these monitors and all three worked flawlessly out of the box. They were up and running with the drivers installed within 10 minutes, two on one desktop, the third on a 2nd desktop. The picture quality is excellent, the text is crisp, the styling is lovely, the graphics seem fine for the low-end gaming I do, and the footprint is very small. Comments: It must have been some sort of miracle but the monitor that I order over the weekend arrived noon on tuesday! And for the record, I live in Hawaii (yeah I can't believe it either.) No ghosting in any of the games I've played. .264 pixel pitch makes for a good sharp picture. Thats all the good stuff, now for the not-so-good. If you dont use native resolution Picture is blurry so if you plan on gaming, make sure you have a card that will handle 1280x1024. P.S. Newegg shipping is incredible. Guess I should have paid more attention to the difference between SXGA and Active matrix/TFT. Everything, especially the lettering looks pixelated. Not smooth. I do a lot of photo editing and it is very difficult with the images being "pixelated". As soon as I can pawn this one off on someone for close to the price I paid, I'll get a different monitor. Heero Tech Level: Ownership:	10/25/2005 10:11:11 PM Had high expectatinos, however... Comments: This monitor made me sad. It was going to replace an old Sony SDM-HS53 that I wanted to get rid of. When it arrived, I got all excited only to find that it had a stuck yellow pixel right in the middle of the screen. I've tried every technique (rubbing?!) there is to revive a stuck pixel, but to no avail. It was stuck good and quit annoying! On text it was ok, but try graphics or movies and just forget it. It contrasted painfully on dark backgrounds. I believe they should take better measures during manufacturing to ensure that dead/stuck pixels are eliminated. The lighting was poor. Sure the monitor was bright, but I could see brigher spots on the monitor where the lamps were located. I would have a few bright and a few darker "blobs" on the monitor: very disappointing. Also, the monitor had the "wavy" effect of older CRTs, which was very odd for an LCD, but sad nonetheless. Lastly, the display resolution was nice and big, but it was extremely difficult to read at its native resolution of. All of this combined made for a very poor piece of technology. It's been replaced with another viewsonic (15") that I am very satisfied with. Don't knock my review just because I had a stuck pixel. It is all too common for them to occur. Don't be suprised if you have stuck pixels, they are easy to get especially with monitors that have a larger native resolution. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? This is the perfect standard LCD monitor, very affordable. No dead pixels on mine, but there's always that chance. It happens sometimes. This is my second Viewsonic LCD. Made FarCry look 1000 times better. I did have 1 stuck pixel though....it took a helluva lot of rubbing to get it out but now im pixel perfect. N/A Tech Level: Ownership:	9/1/2005 10:51:02 AM ok but 1 bad pixel Comments: I guess the monitor is pretty nice but I have one stuck pixel and it's very annoying. There is this link some say can fix stuck pixels but not dead ones. But be careful to read the forums, some people said they had more after they ran the video but some they fixed their LCD monitors. Liked it a lot, so when I saw the VA720b at this price, I ordered it for my Bride. She was working with our old CRT and was having eye problems. Now she is more than happy with the VA720b. It does a great job with our photos as well as text. I use Photoshop Elements 2 & 3 with great success. Both of these View Sonics do well with photo editing applications.
