Ok while it lasts
Pros: I thought it was a fairly decent monitor while it lasted. Note that my previous monitor was a 15 inch CRT.
Didn't have the backlight bleed problem that other people have reported.
Cons: I've owned this monitor for around 2 years, now. I used it mostly for graphic design. Early on, I noticed the color was pretty good, except for shades of gray: there was a whole lot of banding and it was hard to calibrate to get correct gray shades without hints of green, red, or blue. Also, after 2 years of use, the thing died on me.
Other Thoughts: It's too much hassle to return the monitor, so I'm buying a different one. Would rather have a wide screen, anyhow. I would not purchase this monitor again.

what about service?
Pros: Very adjustable stand, good colors.
Cons: Buggy user interface, bad support and service.
Other Thoughts: I bought this after reading the glowing review at Tom's Hardware. It produces a good mage, although the fine color adjustment controls were too buggy to use. I just left it on sRGB where the adjustments are disabled. After a year I started getting red bars all over the screen. No cross-ship or sympathy from Viewsonic, so I had to spring for a new display. My Dell 2007FP looks way better anyway, and comes with some support.

Great Ergonomic Monitor
Pros: Very Good looking monitor, very adjustable ergonomically, clear and cause no problems
Cons: Price mainly
Other Thoughts: We have hundreds of these at my company right now, and they are our monitor of choice. They are very reliable and have only had a few go out. They are bright, and easy to carry around.

Excellent monitor... poor reliability
Pros: The monitor is incredibly sharp with high contrast, near perfect color, and wide viewing angles.
Cons: I have purchased 4-5 of these for various uses and have had to replace three of them within a year. Viewsonic's service is not quick unless you have paid $15 for their express exchange program.
Other Thoughts: Still the best 19" monitor I know of but I am shopping my options. Never once had a dead pixel.

Awesome color reproduction
Pros: I have had this monitor for almost 2 years and love it. Picture quality is superb and I have noticed very little ghosting in games. You really have to try to make it happen, ie. in a first-person-shooter look straight up into a dark sky and spin in a circle while firing a weapon. What seems to impress everyone most is the depth and true color reproduction. Makes games a joy along with photo editing. I have purchased other viewsonic monitors in the past for computers that I have built for other people and have never seen a dead pixel. I don't have any complaints about the swivel base, I set it up the way I liked it and haven't touched it. I guess some feel the need to keep moving their monitor around. Ordered everything from newegg and have always found their service to be exemplary.
Cons: The first 930b I received took a dump after 3 months. I didn't want to deal with warranty so I sold the dead one to a friend and let him deal with it. I purchased a new one for myself. It took about 2 months for my friend to receive his new monitor. Viewsonic was good and easy to deal with and neither of us would ever hesitate to buy from viewsonic again. (This warranty issue took place in march of 2006. I cannot speak for the quality of viewsonic's warranty as of late)
Other Thoughts: This is the fourth viewsonic monitor that I have purchased from newegg and I have never gotten a dead pixel. Even viewsonics' lower end monitors have a better picture, when properly calibrated, than most other monitors.

Buy this monitor !!!
Pros: The picture on this monitor is Jaw Dropping I would not hesitate to recomend this monitor to anyone !!!! if the price would go down i would buy more ! the ergonomic adjustments are also incredible up down rotation 270 tilt top to bottom and EVEN rotate landscape to portrait. no bad pixels not found of sleep modes no light seepage either this err my monitor is solid AGain I am happy with the performace of MY monitor
Cons: The Price Don't try to put this bad boy back in the box while it is possible you will end up man handling it ! cable management could be better it does work thou !
Other Thoughts: I too was swayed by the toms hardware review that said for the best of both worlds this is the best 19" monitors so if your not a hardcore gamer and not a fulltime office use this monitor rocks i play quake4 and other games with no problems also the 3 inputs is very nice its also super easy to swith from one to the other with the 1 and 2 buttons on the monitor 1 DVI 2 VGA i was torn with this verus Samsung and i am Super happy with my choice this is a unbeliveable monitor. as to the service issues that is never a good thing i believe Viewsonic is ablle to make a great product but i also think they are slipping !

Always been good to me...
Pros: Monitor has always provided a great picture. As a developer text quality is a big issue for me on a monitor and I've always been pleased with this monitor. Performs well for text or graphics which for my use is a required balance.
Cons: The Pro models don't come down in price enough.
Other Thoughts: I've always thought the Pro monitor was slightly better than Value, X, Graphics or other series. So that's why I stick with Pro.
Technically I have a VP191b which was the model before this one. Everything I see indicates this model is an exact replacement.
Worked for over 3 years. Recently screen saver didn't kick in and left ghost image of windows logon screen. Leaving powered off overnight made the ghost go away which I thought was very cool. Expected to loose the monitor over that.

Ok display, Horrible customer service
Pros: I purchased two of these for a dual display setup. There were no dead pixels on either display, and the colors were decent.
Cons: Neither monitor will handle power saving modes correctly and require the the monitor power be cycled to come back on. After three months, one wouldn't turn on at all. The color quality does not match between the two displays, even with calibration.
Other Thoughts: I've called customer service 7 times now for a replacement for the dead unit. Each time I speak with them, I get a different story about the status of my return. Over three weeks later, I'm still waiting on a replacement unit. I use this monitor all day every day for my job, and this is totally unacceptable. I would not recommend Viewsonic to anyone due their poor warranty fulfillment policies and poor customer service.

Support is terrible
Pros: Good monitor works well with games, mine had no dead pixels.
Cons: The monitor started having problems with the video input recently. I sent it back over 2 months ago and it has still not been replaced. I have called their customer service several times, one of the times I was told it had been shipped back. A week later still no monitor, called again and was told that it would be elevated to corporate. I will wait another week before calling again but I am not hopeful I will get a replacement any time soon.
Other Thoughts: Although I think they make a quality product I will not buy Viewsonic products again. The run around and customer disservice I've experienced in trying to replace bad hardware is more than enough to get me to go with another brand.

Great Monitor
Pros: Great vibrant color, almost all direction swivel, bright around all edges and corners, large flat base for sturdy no-tip stand, easy to use OSD
Cons: Little pricey for it's age, the large base and backside makes it a pain if you need to pack it up and ship or when moving, makes you want two of them
Other Thoughts: Bought this last summer and it's run like a champ. I have my screen on 24/7 and it's still bright and vibrant a year later. I've moved twice since I bought it and it's a pain to pack it because the base takes up so much real estate. The swivel is unmatched. I've owned 2 other panels and one of the hidden annoyances is when you change position or move around and can't swivel the monitor to face you. This one doesn't have that problem. It even adjusts height. I wish it had dropped in price from last year. I acctually paid about half a bill less last September, but that may have been a sale, however it's worth the dough.

Possible Flaws
Pros: I purchased this monitor a little more than a year ago, and although I don't usually have the time to write reviews, I decided to definitely write one this time. For about a year, we loved this monitor. The colors were vibrant and we didn't have any complaints. However, about a month ago, I noticed a number of fine green, flickering, vertical lines on the screen during the boot process. Also, after the computer booted up, if the screen had a lot of black or grey on it, the vertical green lines were very apparent. Thinking our video card was dying, I installed a new one. Unfortunately, the problem did not go away and that's when I realized it was the monitor.
Cons: After reading other reviews of this monitor, I have come to the conclusion that some of the monitors must be poorly made and that, over time, the flaws begin to show. I don't know how much longer our monitor will continue to operate or how long it will be before additional green lines appear, rendering the screen useless. From what other reviewers indicate, it's probably not worth it to seek customer support from Viewsonic.
Other Thoughts: This is a very nice monitor...as long as you get a good one. If you end up with a flawed one, it's not worth it -- at least not at this price.

Don't walk, run from Viewsonic!
Pros: I bought this monitor after reading the positive review on THG's website. Admittedly this was a good monitor when I bought it. I was quite happy with its response time for video (though I don't play games), I thought its color reproduction and viewing angles were also quite good. I especially liked the height adjustable stand.
Cons: Monitor lasted a year and began having a problem where colors were distorted and a hatched pattern would appear with certain colors. At first was intermittent, then constant. Sent back to Viewsonic for warranty service - what a circus. 2 months later am finally getting a replacement, but not optomistic - others have stated they either give you a "repaired" model that has the same faults, or a "demo".
Other Thoughts: Viewsonic has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. If you are lucky to have your monitor be problem free then fine - but I truly feel it is not worth the risk. Plus many users write their review after owning only for a a day or two, or maybe a week or month. In the long run, if your monitor fails, don't expect a good outcome with Viewsonic's customer service. Virtually all other reviewers that have had to send their monitors in for warranty work/replacement all state the same thing. You have been warned!

Pros: Nice color. Good specifications. Etc.
Cons: I have one "dead" green pixel. It isn't dead when it isn't black/white but otherwise its always green.
Other Thoughts: Please remove the blue informational sign.

Working Great for Me
Pros: Clear and Bright with no Back Lite issues. Worked fine out of the box. No dead pixels.
Tilt, Rotate, Height adjustment.
Cons: I do not need the 'no signal' message.
Other Thoughts: Very happy with this monitor.
However, it took over a week to receive and when it did arive the delivery people just put it and 2 other monitors 2' into my garage as the door was open. No knock, no ring, no nothing.
Pretty lame for 3 day shipping and the fact that they leave $1k worth of product out in the open in my town house row! Pretty lame.

Problems
Pros: Good (not great) display. Good features such as rotate, tilt/hight ajdustment. No dead pixels.
Cons: DVI went out twice! 5 -6 weeks for warrantee repair. Shipping at MY expense. Lousy customer service.
Other Thoughts: Not worth it.

Excellent Monitor...if it stays working
Pros: The display is excellent. When it was working properly it was by far the best display I have had.
Cons: None other than my experience recently.
Other Thoughts: The monitor developed some strange purple vertical lines after about 7 months of use, causing the look of the display so suffer horribly. I talked with Viewsonic to try to get a replacement and even arranged for advanced replacement, but I have been waiting a couple weeks now because they have none in stock to replace it. The only way I would be able to get a replacement through ViewSonic is to send it to them for repair, which they tell me would take 3 weeks, which is unacceptable to me. I came back here to New Egg to arrange for a replacement (under their 1 year policy) which I will be taking care of on Monday.

I have many
Pros: Zero Dead/lit pixels, and very little ghosting.
Good color reproduction.
I use TFT.exe to test all of my LCD's as they come in, and I cannot see the dreaded "X" on my unit.
You can now see a percentage when you adjust settings in the menu.
Cons: The menu button depressions should be filled white to make them easier to read, and help with menu navigation. Very small con.
Other Thoughts: Between my business and personal computers, I run all Viewsonic LCDs. Currently I have over 30 Viewsonics and the only time I had a defective panel, it was taken care of ASAP. Not a dead/lit pixel on any of the monitors.(How many panel monitors can pull that off?)

Excellent Monitor
Pros: Been playing various games on this monitor now and had no ghosting at all. The picture is crisp (using DVI input, not tried the VGA). The brightness of this monitor is amazing. As with most LCD's, it shipped with the brightness at 100 percent. This was far too bright, I had to reduce it to about 50 percent. Mine didn't have any dead pixels, nor did the one I purchased for my wife.
Cons: The stand design is less than ideal. The back leg sticks out giving this monitor far too large of a footprint for a flat panel. Viewsonic has a better design in the 20.1" version of this monitor; if you are trying to have a good sized LCD in a small space, go up to the VP201b, if you have a little extra room behind the monitor, the VP930b will do just fine.
Other Thoughts: This is a great monitor. The picture quality is very good, the brightness is phenomenal, and with Viewsonic's warranty, you can hardly go wrong.

Not worth it
Pros: Nice display - when it is working.
Cons: Quality control & customer service. DVI stopped working after several months. Was told replacement would be sent right out. Didn't receive anything and after calling back was told I would have to send unit in first and that an email had been sent with instructions. I didn't get any email from them and they said their email system had been down. One week later they told me the unit needed parts they didn't have and would take up to 90 days. They didn't offer a new replacement. I asked them if they didn't have the parts, then who did? After several more weeks, they just sent me an obviously used refurbished unit that had the same DVI problem. I used the VGA input on that for several months, but returned it last week. They are now replacing it with another refurbished unit so will have to see about that when it arrives.
Other Thoughts: No more Viewsonic. You buy a new retail monitor, it has problems and gets returned, and you end up with a refurbished unit. In my case a monitor with the same exact problem. The customer service is very poor.

My First LCD... Purchased for Photo Editing and Gaming
Pros: Amazing sharpness, contrast, brightness, and screen size seems huge after using 17" CRT's the past 10 years. Games look amazing, and I've notticed no ghosting. I play BF2142, WOW, COH/COV and a few others.
Cons: - Probably should have stuck with CRT's for photo editing. Although this monitor comes highly reccomended among the budget photog community, I can definately see it's downfalls compared to a CRT. Although color is very accurate (I use hardware calibration) I feel this monitor is just too sharp, and shows too much contrast especially in areas that should appear true black. (Shaded areas appear brighter than they should.) This monitor tends to make images that are underexposed look perfectly bright, so this may pose a problem for my use if i'm not careful.
- Beware those with older graphics cards and computers, the higher native resolution on LCD's works your graphics card alot harder. I had to lower alot of other settings in my games to keep the native resolution.
- There definately is a "X" across a dark screen... Default settings are much too bright anyway. Turn down contrast/brightness, and the x goes away for the most part.
Other Thoughts: I don't mean to be too harsh on this monitor... I LOVE IT. I give it a 4, for reasons mentioned above as I have some pretty specific needs with photo editing. But, it still blows me away for normal computing, and especially gaming. Photogs beware... there is no substitute for a good CRT!

Great 19" Monitor
Pros: It's big, bright and beautiful. It handles ALL games I have thrown at it (Oblivion, Sims 2, Gothic II, Battlefield...) without any ghosting or any other sort of image distortion. With some calibration, the color accuracy is great. I do a lot of work in Photoshop, Indesign and Dreamweaver and am very impressed.
Cons: The backlight is very visible in all four corners of the screen. VERY Noticeable at FIRST and on dark screens. But 90% of the time it is NOT noticeable.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an aging 21" CRT. I held out for an LCD that could both offer fast enough response times to GAME and the color accuracy required for GRAPHIC DESIGN. It excels at both. The only thing I wouldn't recommend this panel for is watching movies, but that holds true for any 1280x1024 resolution panel.

Pros: I am an IT Professional and purchased this LCD for my main gaming rig. I don’t know why people are complaining about ghosting I wouldn’t believe them. I get no ghosting what so ever in HL2 or CS. I run at 1280x1024 at 75hz on a X700pro. Picture color and quality is better then any LCD I've seen in a long time. Having 3 inputs is a real plus esp. for IT people. This lcd is actually 300-nit brightness (typ) and 1300:1 contrast ratio (typ). According to viewsonic. Anyone who complains about this LCD lacks the knowledge to tune it right, and to configure their pc right.
Cons: The perfectsuite tuner app works wonders for tuning the display, but there is a catch. The app will put junk in startup and create splash screens, and services. Id def recommend removing all startup junk it creates, and disabling any services you don't need like the pivot software. One other glitch , when i switch over to the analog input which is hooked to my G4 Tiger Mac I Have to constantly recenter the display by hand. Only once per boot though, there is not perfectsuite support or driver support for mac. DVI XP ATI seems to be the way to go with this LCD for the best quailty. Def run it at 9300k too and turn down the brightness a little and it will be perfect for you.
Other Thoughts: For only xxx bucks these days you cant beat this LCD

VP930b vs VX922
Pros: This monitor is bright, pretty, colorful, and the stand is nice. It looks very good, and I couldn't see any quality issues, screen-wise. The remanence/motion blur/ghosting isn't too bad to game, even competitively, since edges still of objects show fast enough and don't blur too much. The viewing angle is pretty good, too.
Cons: The remanence could be too poor for your taste. It does cause a noticable amount of detail loss and could be distracting, especially for a hardcore gamer.
Other Thoughts: I returned the VP930b and got the VX922, instead. The VX922 has some remanence as well, but is significantly better in that front than the VP930b (I'm not sure if ANY LCD is better than the VX922 for remanence - I think it's imposible to make a LCD perfect in this area). The VX922 is a 6-bit LCD, though, so I don't think it would be adequate for someone who works with photoshop for a living. It looks great most of the time, especially for text, though gradients can look grainier than they should. I don't know if the VP930b is 6-bit or not, so you should look this up before purchasing it.
In the end, I stuck with the VX922 cause I game and browse the web more than I edit graphics. If/when that changes, I will purchase a second LCD monitor more suited to that task.
Also, I am re-purchasing the VP930b for my mother, who codes, and does graphic design, but does NOT game. She is quite excited and impressed with it.

Pros: Large screen. Easy to use. Its a Viewsonic!!
Cons: I had one dead pixel. Not too bad, but its dead :D. Otherwise the only thing that bugged me is the "DVI" blue thing that pops up everytime the monitor gets signal.

sorry, not for gaming
Pros: beautiful realistic color sharp picture height, pivot, swivel adjust
Cons: response time isn't fast enough for gaming
Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor with the expectation that it would do everything well. It's too bad that it ghosts in gaming. If you do office work or photo editing, it's a great monitor for you. If you are even a casual gamer, I would look at a different model.

Great all around display!!!
Pros: Excellent display all around, no problem thus far. I bought one of these approx 4 months ago in conjunction with a dual output vid card. After waiting a bit, I like the display so much, that I bought another one to match it. Now with dual 19's, its superior. I am a gamer, CS Source being my weakness, and this display truly delivered. I was very worried about refresh rates and display colours when I was making my initial selection. This one surely delivers. I have no ghosting or flicker when I am in a croweded game and moving around as fast as I can. My rig had a 7800GS vid card, and 2.4 ghtz proc with 512 ram. It runs flawlessly on my machine. BOTH displays showed up with zero dead pixels.
Cons: My only complaint is the X factor, or the area of lighter colors in the extreme corners of the monitor. I can only see it for about 60 seconds after turning them on, and in a totally dark room with something dark and solid colored on the display. In games, I don't notice it at all.
Other Thoughts: This thing swivels far more than I ever expected, making it great for different configurations. My previous displays had always been CyberVision, and I got this one at the advice of a friend, I would easily reccomend this to another friend. Its also very good at displaying normal items such as text and/or webpages. The text is always crisp and very easy to read from almost any angle.

Pros: I've owned this for nearly 1 year now. Super sharp and crisp from day 1 to present. GREAT maneuverability. Beautifully slim bezel. DVI and VGA hookups are easily accessible. Not 1 single dead pixel. Really like the small security lock slot on the back to hook up a laptop security cable to. Nice little added touch with the 3 cable management clips on the back riser. Slick. Overall just a super monitor. ViewSonic has ALWAYS come thru for me!
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: I've used this monitor with everything from playing EQ2, to rendering extremely color specific PhotoShop files, to using it for web browsing to running an Apache server. In every single circumstance this monitor was and is as true as ever. I'm extremely pleased.

Nice monitor
Pros: Good brightness/contrast/latency. It's completely adjustable as to fit anywhere and be seen. The viewing angle is great as well.
Cons: The base is larger than "normal" and every time there is a resolution change a blue box pops up telling you what mode (DVI/Analog/etc) you're in.
Other Thoughts: When I told friends that I bought this monitor just about everyone said "you could get one for much less than that." I bought this monitor because it's a brand I trust and is of high quality. Monitors are too often neglected in quality and that's what everything that one's several hundred/thousand dollar computer is displayed on. You get what you pay for!

Good
Pros: I bought two of these for a dual monitor setup. I previously had a VP191b and these work just as well if not better.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I'm not understanding why some reviewers are complaining about a lack of USB ports. Why does a monitor need USB ports?

The BEST!!
Pros: Nice swivel tilt, adustable height, and slim bezel. Rich colors/very minimal ghosting on games/movies. Nice packaging (who cares if the box is only latched and not water tight sealed...not like its being delivered by submarine or boat), and (who cares if it doesn't have a USB connector in some gimmicky place on the monitor...bend your lazy self over and plug into the other 8 USBs that you have on the PC.)
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Ordered and recevied the next day on standard delivery! I owned the an older model of this series in 17", and it lasted 3.5years of rough LANing, and treatment. It still runs great today! No dead/stuck pixels on delivery which is like playing russian roulette when ordering any LCD online. (whew)

Incredible Monitor
Pros: First off, the advantages of being able to work in Portrait Mode are many. For text, spreadsheet, it can't be beat. And many, (most?) web sites are designed in Portrait, why scroll down if you don't have to? I found NO bad pixels, the set up was very easy. I found NONE of the complaints, (which were few anyhow), that others found. Absolutely great features.
Cons: Okay, I agree it would be nice if it had a USB port, but, don't let THAT stop you from buying this monitor. And I agree that Viewsonic should seal the box closed, but it was closed and latched.
Other Thoughts: I received it in less time than estimated, but exactly as the tracking information suggested. The resolution, 8ms speed, and all specs were very competitive if not superb. My buddy owns the model that this one superseded, and he still loves his 3-4 years later, and of course now the technology costs half what it did then. In terms of the price breaks as you go up in size, I don't think it is worth it to go to a 21", just too large a jump from 19 to 21. Needless to say, I am real satisfied with the unit and with NewEggs service, pricing and support to date.

Causes radio interfernence with wireless devices
Pros: Good pixel timings.
Cons: This product will interfere with all wireless devices within 3 feet, including wireless speakers, wireless keyboards/mice and wireless network adapters.
Other Thoughts: Do not buy this product if you use wireless devices.
Before buying any display device, download the manual and make sure it doesn't say something like "If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on..."

It's a VP series.
Pros: Outstanding LCD, I am still impressed since the first day. This is my 3rd Viewsonic in a row and is the 6 in my family (3 CRT / 3 LCD). You can be sure that you will not be disapointed by the movies/games you can watch/play. (Check Tom's Hardware Review) I will like to buy another to make a dual screen setup.
Cons: The OSD pop up or BLUE BOX everytime that detects a change of resolution or a change in the INPUT signal, but after a while I used to live with that.
Other Thoughts: My profesional advice as CAD Designer/Gamer... forget the calibration software, use Displaymate demo or the full version.

Great LCD! but not the software
Pros: - Stunning picture clarity, color and contrast - awesome ergonomics - no ghosting in games
Cons: - Perfect Suite software trashed my business PC requiring me to restore the entire system
Other Thoughts: I came from an NEC/Mitsubishi 19" CRT with Trinitron that died and was very hesitant to switch to LCDs. I only did because the selection of CRTs out there was pathetic. I've very glad I did - I can't begin to describe how much better games look with this LCD than with my CRT. Text is crisper than it could ever be on my old CRT.
The included software is extremely invasive. It starts its own services and set itself up to start every boot. During install, it trashed my ATI video card driver and had a fight to the death with ZoneAlarm Pro. The loser was my rig. After uninstall, I could not install another video driver and had to restore my sytem. There's no need for calibration software to be this invasive.
I don't see any lit-up 'X' on a black screen - then again I don't use my computer by looking at a black screen either.

Viewsonic
Pros: Excellent contrast and sharpness.
Cons: 1280x1024 Max Res. Could use higher. No DVI-D. Which is strange given that both my VP1720 and VP2030P have that ability.
Other Thoughts: Have the VP2030P also.

Beautiful
Pros: No ghosting. Looks beautiful. No dead pixels. Good cable management.
Cons: Backlight went out, but Viewsonic was quick to replace it.

Pros: nice crisp color and quick dsplay... No dead pixels...
Cons: DVI went out after a month. Whole monitor quit functioning after 3 months.
Other Thoughts: I'll never buy anything from viewsonic again. Can't get hold of customer service to return my product.

Great LCD - Recommended
Pros: I use this lcd for webdesign and photoshop, I was hesistant to leave the CRT world because I have always heard that LCD's can't produce the same colors but this screen is AMAZING. I highly recommend it for graphics work. Great contrast without being overly bright. By it and don't look back.
Cons: very minor...the base/stand is rather bland and boring compared to others.

Great but
Pros: Great product once you adjusst/calibrate the monitor it's awesome!! Way too bright at purchase. Videos look awesome but a wide screen would view better. Colors look great, I'm a designer. I only play 80's games so they look great. I screen span with ibook.
Cons: Screen shakes some if your desk is not steady. After reading the reviews I was worried about the brightness and tons of dead pixels. none so far...knock on wood. Blue box is not annoying as people ranted...just pops up and goes aawy. OH, in portrait mode it is slow w/ibook. That's the only con but who uses it in portrait mode?
Other Thoughts: New Egg rocks! I order all I can from newegg now. Other companies takes too long to get my stuff these days.

Great LCD - Stupid Anti-theft
Pros: Execellent form factor, stand, buttons, finish; very good LCD for gaming (CRTs have superior performance for gaming - I'm a BF2 HL2 gamer); love the auto-tilt feature for web page viewing (you can see the whole page at one time - no or little scrolling)
Cons: The anti-theft feature (built into the monitor, NOT the software) is possibly the WORST idea in the history of bad ideas; I never enabled the feature - it had other plans and enabled itself (all I did was unplug the LCD to move my PC, then plug it back in . . .). STUPID blue anti-theft box in the middle of the LCD makes life hell . . . finally found solution on the web (hard power off the LCD with the switch in the rear of the LCD; then hold down Up arrow & power buttons in the front, then turn the rear power switch back on). This feature SUCKS.
Other Thoughts: If you are a gamer and use a CRT - think long and hard about switching to an LCD; I miss my killer CRT performance and sharpness in games, but the LCD's killer form factor tips the scale in its favor, but only slightly - this is an individual chioce.

Oh Yes!
Pros: Well, this monitor out performs everything. It's no wonder why tom's hardware uses it as their reference monitor. This has overall a more even curve in the response compared to practically every monitor out there, even the $1,000 + models. Also has a very functional base, very sturdy.
Cons: None that I've found.
Other Thoughts: If anyone wants to convert from a CRT to LCD and plays games, this is the monitor for you. No ghosting at all, which is very important, and not just at one spot (go look at the response times of all those 2ms monitors, their average is around 30). This is by far the best monitor, espescially in the price range.

Pros: I bought this monitor based on Tom's Hardward Guide recommendation and it is as good as they say, but I found the pixel spacing too corse for my eyes to really enjoy the screen so I switched to it's big brother the VP2030 and am much happier.
Cons: None except the above mentioned pixel spacing.

OSD Popups Are Not That Bad
Pros: Great picture and ergonomics. Default settings are a bit bright and on the warm (red) side, but can be adusted to near perfect. No dead pixels. Great color saturation. Although the panel does noticeably blur moving cursors and text compared to my CRT, it is not really noticable when gaming or in real world use. Very talented Jack of all trades, though a master of none. No LCD I've ever seen is the best solution for every application.
Cons: Although the picture overall outperforms my CRT, it does fall short in games and pictures with dark areas with details. There is a sort of silver sheen on top of the image from the backlight that prevents the blacks from being black. I've never seen an LCD panel that didn't have this effect. It changes slightly with viewing angle, and as such, each eye sees it a bit differently which makes it even more noticable. On this monitor it is worse in the corners than in the middle, but overall this monitor is less affected by this problem than others I have owned, especially TN panels. It can be minimized by lowering the brightness and increasing viewing distance. In bright scenes the picture is fantastic. For dark games (or games that need a different resolution) I'll stick to my CRT. The Viewsonic box is shipped with no outer box or tape to secure the flaps. PerfectSuite is useless for adjusting the picture. Only install it if you have no other way of implimenting pivot mode.
Other Thoughts: After reading other reviews, I was worried about the blue box that appears when the monitor senses a change in video input. I was relieved to find out that the box is small, stays on the screen for only five seconds, and can be eliminated immediately by pressing the "1" button on the front panel. If it obscures part of your POST, just press the "1" button and it vanishes, just like anything else on the OSD. The resolution notification some people complained about can be disabled entirely. The infamous theft deterrent box could only appear if you activate it in PerfectSuite and provide a code number. Even if you did activate it then change your mind (or forget the code), it can be disabled permanently by powering up the monitor while holding down two buttons. I almost didn't buy the monitor because of this. I'm glad I did since this turned out to be a complete non-issue.

excellent
Pros: very accurate, evenly bright, nice calibration software, lightweight and thin.
Cons: its fast, alright, but its not the fastest.
Other Thoughts: keep in mind this has 16.7mil colors as opposed to the 16.2 in most other displays. being a photographer, my main reason for purchase.

great
Pros: Great Monitor, Great Colors, Very Bright, and no ghosting. I had this monitor for about 4 weeks and I haven't found any dead pixals.
Cons: The back light does leak form the corners of the screen, but you can only see it when its dark. Also the stands dimensions is a little too deep for my tastes.

Good
Pros: No bad pixels on mine. Great contrast, good color, fast enough refresh for most things, even OK for games. Great all-around monitor. And it uses less power than smaller Dell monitors.
Cons: Light does leak in from the corners but is not noticable except in ideal conditions.
Other Thoughts: This is a great all-around monitor. There are better gaming monitors or better photo editing monitors, but this monitor does everything quite well at a great price.

I chose over the vx because of color depth.
Pros: Color depth. Far better in gaming than my good crt monitor.Far less eye strain while viewing web pages or gamming! No dead or stuck pixles. No ghosting. Great gaming monitor.I gave the monitor 5 eggs. I am not rating the company here.
Cons: Imop i think a crt is a little clearer viewing the average web page. My dvi input quit working after 3 months, so i rma ed it. Story in "other thoughts".
Other Thoughts: I rma'd the monitor. It took 4 weeks almost to the day to get it back. It still had the same problem(dvi still didnt work, i even tried a new cable and different pc's) so i called them back and they gave me a new rma # and paid the shipping, saying that when they recieve it they will send me out a new one.
second time I sent the monitor out on may 29th 06. i just recieved it today(july 19th 06), after calling them on july 13th.The first time i called on this day i was on hold for 18 min, and when they went to transfer me the call got droped. So the second time i called it was 28 min to get through, but they were very nice and said they would put a rush delivery on it, and they did. If i hadent called it probably would have ran out of warranty before they sent me a new one. They didnt however send me a dvi cable, nor the correct software. Sure they sent software, but not for my monitor.
So it only took 9 weeks and 2 days (the second time including shipping time to and from)

Pros: Stable stand has cord guides. No fish-tank gloss. True color w/o adjustment. No bad pixels. Portrait mode. Buttons for brightness & contrast sufficient.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Yellow bang eliminated by correct driver but normal operation in any case. Portrait mode behavior is track-ball-like with on-board graphics unless driver is correct.

Poor Support / Yellow tint
Pros: One of my two VP930b's looks great. Nice for dual display setups. Quick response time. Highly adjustable stands. Good viewing angles.
Cons: The most horrible customer service I've ever experienced, coupled with a high defect rate. I had to pay shipping to return one of these nearly a year ago when it was DOA. I was without a monitor for 4+ months getting fed every time I spoke with a customer rep at Viewsonic.
Ordered another one (only because it's for a dual display setup and I wanted something identical, I won't buy Viewsonic ever again) only to have a horrible yellow tint that cannot be corrected through any color settings. I now have two of these side by side one looks great, the other terrible.
Other Thoughts: 0/2 for me. This time I will be demanding an advance RMA replacement, which they normally only allow if you buy "express exchange" warranty service shortly after your purchase date. The first RMA experience I had with them was completely ridiculous and the cost of shipping these back adds up.

DOA, very poor support from viewsonic
Pros: Great monitor if you get one that works. Bright, fast and clear. Good colors.
Cons: Out of the 2 I ordered, 1 came DOA. I spent many hours on hold only to get disconnected. Once I did get my RMA, I had a 3 month wait for my replacement.
Other Thoughts: ViewSonic support is a nightmare, especially when compared to Sxxxxngs superior tech support.

Worth Every Penny
Pros: Bright, crisp and large. Price is right.
Cons: The DVI message when it switches on or changes displays is annoying, like everyone else posted. I like to see POST sometimes.
Other Thoughts: A couple of USB ports would have been nice. No dead pixels, but I don't credit anyone with that really.

Inconclusive
Pros: Large Screen, menu controls, height adjustment.
Cons: Location of ports on back
Other Thoughts: I got this monitor today, and it was defective. DVI connection produced a yellowish tint to the screen, even during boot. Analog produced the same, but with a red tint. I can't give this monitor a fair review because it didn't work. Newegg was great, RMA right away. I don't know if I'm going to order this monitor again, due to another recent review reporting a similar problem. As of right now, I'd consider this monitor a risk.

not so amazing...
Pros: - set up was a breeze - text is crips and clear - dvd video is ok - haven't played games on it yet
Cons: getting ready to return it. Had it a week and the DVI went out on it. Now only the dual analog works. Which comes to mind that its a royal pain to switch between computers with this monitor. You have to use the menu selection process. About 5 steps. Worthless!
Other Thoughts: If you have two computers hooked up and turned at the same time and you reboot the active one then the monitor auto switches to the other computer without asking. Wny would anyone want this???

VP930b = Good
Pros: No dead pixels Adjustability of panel on stand Contrast Ratio Brightness
Cons: Brightness (the user cann adjust this thing WAY too bright!) Controls non-intuative
Other Thoughts: I am using 2 of these in dual monitor setup. One aspect of LCD's that is often ignored is how adjustable the panel is on the stand. The VP930 is pretty good in this regard, and I suspect that the cost of the stand accounts for some of the "high" price of this model. Using a dual monitor setup is a revelation! I'm satisfied with my purchase, and look forward to trying dual widescreens under Vista.....if the industry EVER gets DRM, HDMI, connectors, cables, Video cards, etc. straightened out.....

ViewSonic VP930b
Pros: I started looking on the 'net and basically I realized that no LCD monitor would be good. I have always find for any model and company a bad word, review, etc etc.. So I based my decision on facts: I owned another LCD monitor from ViewSonic (VX-900II) and I never had an issue (after almost 3 years now). So I decided to stick with this company. The VP930b is a great monitor, 1000:1 ratio of contrast and you can tell the difference based on VX-900II. After calibration, which you are forced to do by the installation software, everything is nice. Movies OK, CAD work super, office apps good, videoconferences perfect...
Cons: At the moment none.
Other Thoughts: I would reccomend this monitor to everybody. Also I would like to say that I'm impressed by these guys at NewEgg... they are something. I ordered the monitor at 13:00 of one day. At 11:00 of the next day the monitor was already in my apartment! Less than 24 hours!!! This is amazing... I bought other stuff from them and I always got it in less than 24 hours. Strange people that complain or have strange issues there are everywhere, but if you are a normal person you won't have any issue with NewEgg. They exceeded my dreams about customer satisfaction. Sincerely. I hope that they keep working like this...

Amazing Monitor and Service
Pros: Great color representation (1000:1 contrast ratio is great), 8 ms-- fast no visible ghosting, no dead pixels
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I was amazed at the service NewEgg offered. I ordered this OEM Open Box, so I was expecting a box with a monitor in it, poorly packaged. What I got was the original box inside another box with large amounts of bubble wrap-- protected and preserved perfectly. I also received, to my surprise, all cords (VGA, Power, and DVI), documentation, and CD's. A Perfect condition monitor for 100 dollars under NewEgg's New VP930b's sell at. Can't beat that!

VP930b
Pros: I purchased two monitors from Newegg, one was this VP930b and the other was the VX922. After readinng alot of the reviews I was concerned about bad pixels and the UPS shipping. I am very pleased to report that both monitor arrived with NO dead pixels and the packages from UPS were in great shape. This monitor is usued mainly for editing picutes. This unit has an awesome amount of changes that can made to it to bring out the exact color display.
Cons: The only con I see is that it has a large learning curve to set the monitor to exact color desired. This usually is a good thing since it offers so many adjustments.
Other Thoughts: As always I will continue to shop at NEWEGG

Works Great
Pros: *NO DEAD PIXELS* For a harcore gamer you will want a 2ms response time and you won't worry about color quality as much. For a graphics designer, you won't care so much about response time, but you will care a LOT about color quality. This monitor is a good balance between the two with *excellent* ergonomics. Also, I don't notice any ghosting myself.
Cons: Stupid theft deterrent has given me a problem and Viewsonic has terrible support. Strange controls, but easily accessable and arn't too hard to figure out. If you change the resolution to anything, but 1280x1024, the quality sucks, but they warn you about that anyways, and I think the resolution is fine to begin with.
Other Thoughts: To *temporarily* make the theft deterrent box go away, bring up your on-screen display by pressing "1 and 'up.'" This thing is easily adjustable, but the stands do take up a lot of room. I have a big corner desk, so it doesn't bother me, but take the stands into consideration. People have noted the "X" thing, but it really only appears when the monitor is off. I don't notice any color distortion and the Perfect Suite software to help calibrate is decent. Worth the money if you are riding the fence between color quality and gaming. Also a prime choice for an office monitor as it is easy to read.

Great Monitor
Pros: Good color, good response. Very adjustable.
Cons: There is a bit of light leak in corners that show on a dark screen.

Excellent Monitor - Great Replacement for the VP191
Pros: The contrast and color on this monitor are fantastic. I use a dual display with the VP930b's predecessor (the VP191b) beside it. In my opinion, the VP930b outperforms the VP191b. Have no dead pixels that I can see.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Huge fan of Newegg! Keep up the great work!

Very Nice Monitor
Pros: Nice Screen Size, Clean Looking Design, Sleek, Convienent Carrying Box, Adjustability, Swivel Screen.. Great Colors..
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I love this monitor, it's my first LCD and I am very impressed and happy with my purchase of it.. Not one single dead pixel either.. Using this and the new graphics card it's really improved my game experience in BF2

Pros: Adjustable height, nice looking, no dead pixels. Great picture after adjusting all of the settings.
Cons: The popup graphic that displays the current input after changing the resolution or powering on the monitor. Default settings are too bright.
Other Thoughts: I read the reviews before purchasing and I figured I could live with the current input popup graphic. It's a lot more annoying than you might think. It covers up the center of the screen and there's no way to move or disable it (strangely enough, you CAN move the popup menu). It stays there for around 10 seconds - WAY too long. It comes up whenever the monitor powers on and obscures the XP welcome screen. Bad move Viewsonic

Everything I wanted
Pros: I'm no expert, but it seems perfect. Initially I had to do the auto adjust to get rid of some slightly visible verticle banding on white screen. Perfect now.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg should ditch their 8 pixel policy. Implies 7 is OK which its not. Almost lost a sale in my case - seemed safer to go to Costco and get something inferior but local and returnable. Glad I didn't.

nice monitor
Pros: good color, bright, barely any ghosting when playing FFXI, very sharp graphics at optimal resolution 1280x1024, able to raise screen height which effectively frees up more physical desk space
Cons: native resolution isn't 4:3 or any other standard aspect ratio, resulting in wasted monitor space when viewing movies or playing games which don't support the 1280x1024 aspect ratio. slight ghosting when compared to CRT
Other Thoughts: no dead pixels

Well worth it!
Pros: The ergonomics are absolutely wonderful. When I got this I dropped by CRT (literally, but accidentally, lol). I was so glad that I had NO Dead Pixels. The image quality is good, but a real monitor junkie will want a higher quality than this one provides. I haven't noticed any ghosting
Cons: The theft deterrent is a pain. It came on at random times and it obstructs your screen. I followed the instructions to remove it, but it does pop up now and then. I can remove it by bringing up the on-screen display. There was a small scratch in the top left corner, but it is too small to affect viewing when the monitor is on.
Other Thoughts: If this had a slightly lower response time it would be an amazing buy, but this is a very well-rounded monitor. I picked it over a cheaper 2ms because it had better ergonomics and image-quality. A great monitor for someone who dabbles in many aspects of computer use (gaming, graphics, video/3d editing).

ViewSonic LCD
Pros: Nice Image. Bright. Highly adjustable (hieght, angles (rotates and tilts), portrait/landscape). No dead pixels. I don't notice any ghosting in Counter-Strike: Source. Reds/Blues/Greens come up perfect, as do all other settings (moire, etc) with no adjustment.
Cons: I miss the screen size, max resolution, and available resolutions of the 21" CRT I replaced. Brightness needed to be turned down significantly and I still don't have the brightness/contrast set up 100% how I'd like it. Limited to adjusting only brightness/contrast though the on screen display.
Other Thoughts: Arrived just fine, but the box it came in was not secured at all. There was nothing preventing someone from opening up the box at all. NewEgg should have taped over all the flaps.

excellent monitor
Pros: Deep blacks, fast response, great ergonomics
Cons: Slight backlight bleeding at the corners, no way to disable the input box which pops up right in the middle of the screen after changing resolution
Other Thoughts: Despite the cons mentioned above, I still give this monitor a 5. From my experience with LCDs, most LCDs are either fast and suffer from lack of accuracy and a poor color reproduction, making them unsuitable for office use, or vice versa. This is not the case with 930b. It's fast enough so that there is no detectable ghosting (at least to me) and at the same time it's quite plesant to use in an office setting. The text is very sharp and the colors are good. Yes, there is some backlight bleeding and the color reproduction is not perfect, but I have yet to use an LCD that does not suffer from these two issues.

Great LCD
Pros: Black level is satisfying, very nice ergonomics. Fast delievery from newegg as usual even its a refurbished item. No dead pixels, and came with everythings just like new.
Cons: Grey and blue are disappointed no matter how you calibrate it. The X pattern blacklight which is the little light appear on the 4 corners was obvious before calibration.
Other Thoughts: In reality, not all the reviews are as accurate as they seemed like. The best way to judge is still by using your own eyes. I can only describe what I can observe. Black is really deep and its something you want to appreciate after feeling the "darkness" from movies, pictures and games. In movies, or videos, colors are little better than my previous monitors, including dell 2005fpw, but its still far from getting close to the CRTs' level, especially you can obviously see the noise when it's displaying blue and grey, even after calibration. It performs nicely in games just like other LCDs I had, however, no suprise you should expect with the higher price of this monitor. To conclude, its an ok purchase to me since I was expecting this might be the one to replace my CRT monitor. So far none surpasses or even get close to my CRT when viewing DVDs, but the friendly design and the deep deep black are some nice work I haven't seen.

Great Monitor, Fast Shipping
Pros: Monitor worked great after receiving. No dead pixels. Easy setup. Extremely pleased with entire process from order to receipt.
Cons: Nothing negative yet.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg is great. Monitor was advertiesed as refurbished, but actually it was a customer refusal. I got a brand new monitor. I will always shop NewEgg first.

Only if it works!
Pros: Great looking monitor Small bezel surround 8bit panel
Cons: After 1 month of operation monitor died. RMA process takes too long > 1month Quality Control lacking
Other Thoughts: Seems like viewsonic is having their customers do the quality control for them, This monitor had no dead pixels (yeah!) but died after less than 1 month in use. RMA process took forever 45 days to get them to send a replacement monitor after it could not be fixed in a timely manner. Took many calls to cust service to get action....

Amazing monitor and newegg rocks
Pros: Happy with everything. I used to get headachs every two weeks.. I used to use a viewsonic CRT. Got this monitor and I could feel the difference on my eyes right away, and so far no more headache issues.
No ghosting in any First person shooters.
Very bright.
Newegg has a NJ warehouse so I got it the next day with standard shipping!
Cons: The X is noticable when the monitor is very dark, but it does not bother me one bit...

Instant RMA
Pros: Pivot, tilt, swivel, included DVI cable
Cons: Color representation is completely screwed up from the first moment. No red at all! Can't RMA to NewEgg because they don't RMA monitors. Do now I'm out shipping to Viewsonic in addition to a $400 monitor. Very mad.
Other Thoughts: Tried it on VGA and DVI and on two computers. Same terrible color results. Called VS and they just said RMA, no help. After taking 6 months to make up my mind now I have a "minimum 14 business day not including shipping to or from" them. I am so disappointed. Everyone makes mistakes I guess but I would have bought a $150 one if I didn't live by "you get what you pay for". I spent the extra for the dead pixel warranty and the reputation. I guess it wasn't worth it.

Better than Samsung 204b-By a Long Shot
Pros: Absolutely Awsome Picture, Lots of adjustments. DVD's look great and there is no ghosting in BF2. This looks better than the Samsung 204b that I bought and at least as good as my old 17" CRT.
Cons: Terrible software, Says its not XP compatible, Slight X pattern on a black screen, Annoying blue input box pops up all of the time.
Other Thoughts: The picture is honestly a lot better than the 204b that I bought of course this is only a 19" and there is a very big difference between a 19 and 20 inch monitor (seems like a lot more than and inch to me) but i feel that I wound up with a better product. If the 20" version of this monitor is in your budget buy it otherwise just get this one it is definitely worth every penny.

Solid monitor for gaming
Pros: Beautiful color for a non-graphics professional LCD. I use mine for gaming and office software. Works very well for both. Text is crisp. Haven't seen any ghosting on the games I play. They are all played a lot: BF2, Call of Duty2, Doom3, Fear, Far Cry, and older games.
Stand allows for plenty of adjustments-great for comfortable viewing.
Haven't played any full screen movies on it, so can't judge that.
Cons: I also have the "X" on a totally black screen. It's only in the corners (not a full X) and not detected while playing games (even Doom3 and Fear) or using any other software.
You will need to calibrate this monitor from its defaults for best colors (and less of an "X"). Default brightness and contrast are always too high on any LCD I've dealt with. Seems to be a LCD thing.
The blue bar that pops up when you change resolutions is annoying, but doesn't actually disturb my playing. Wish it could be turned off, though.
I had one dead pixel. On far left, only visible on a totally white screen. I have to look for it to notice.
Other Thoughts: I really love this monitor. Great screen size and has been flawless for my needs. Best resolution (as in all LCDs) is the native, so have a strong video card for games (I have an X800XL). I'm a field tech who works with a lot of LCDs for my clients. This is the best one for color and gaming I've seen for its size and price range (sub $xxx).

Good quality gaming monitor
Pros: Good color depth; Nice response in FPS games; Nice, sturdy stand; Clear text.
Cons: Backlight bleeding around the corners, although it isn't enough to bother me. Also, whenever the screen resolution switches, it tells you what input you're plugged into - i.e. get a big blue "DVI" box whenever I alt-tab out of a game.
Other Thoughts: I mostly use the monitor for gaming and it's great. The color representations are very good. Ghosting isn't a problem as the response time is low enough. If I concentrate on very fast moving objects in BF2, I can see the slighest bit of ghosting. But I don't notice it the rest of the time while I'm playing. I recommend it for gaming and everyday use.

Awesome Monitor
Pros: Very Large screen space Easily adjustable, no buttons it just glides Colors are really nice No ghosting in BF2 (and I play it a lot so I should know.) No dead pixels Only notice the X effect when on complete black image, but lower the backlight and its fixed AWESOME!!!!
Cons: The software it came with Perfect Suite seems to have frozen my comp on startup. But I can still adjust my monitor with my graphics cards settings.

LCD Monitor
Pros: Size, size, size. Brightness and clarity. 1280x1024 resolution in DVI looks beautiful!
Cons: It is a little to easy to adjust height. Wish it was a little firmer.
Other Thoughts: I was considering a 20.1" monitor but now that i have this one i couldn't imagine getting a bigger flat panel. This is so huge and so beautiful. No ghosting with FarCry and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory so far.

Viewsonic Rocks !
Pros: The 1000-1 contrast ratio is amazing. I have seen things on my games and the FS9 flight simulator. That I did not even know where there before ! Really love how you can rotate the screen 90 degrees and it will rotate the info automatically..
Cons: Has 1 dead LCD. But I can live with that. Don't like the stupid blue DVI signal pop up. It is annoying. I have contacted ViewSonic to see if it can be disabled..
Other Thoughts: If you have the money get it ! Not sure why it took 4 days for a 2-3 delivery.

Great monitor.
Pros: The monitor is really fast. I've watched movies, and played a lot of Quake 4 on it, and some other games, and haven't noticed any ghosting or artifacts or any of that nonsense. Colors and picture quality are excellent once you've run its included calibration software.
Cons: Shipped with one dead pixel, which kinda sucks, but it's not all that noticeable. I don't see it unless I'm looking for it. And the stock color settings are a little screwy, so it'll take some manual intervention to correct them.
Other Thoughts: Out of the box, it's pretty bright, and I can see the X-shaped backlight that everyone's talking about. Even with stock settings, it's not all that noticeable, though. It's not gonna be the end of the world like some people seemed to think. After I ran the calibration software, I can barely see it at all, and only then when I'm watching widescreen movies or looking at an all black screen and the lights are turned off.
Also, the monitor seemed to have a yellowish tint to it, but this was also fixed with the calibration app. Now it looks perfect.

Newegg = Lord
Pros: This monitor is great, no dead pixels at all, and games look amazing.
Cons: There is definitely a noticable glow in the corners on a black screen, but it doesn't bother me at all. My laptop's LCD has this far worse.
Other Thoughts: I ordered it UPS ground, and no joke, it was here 24 HOURS LATER! I am truly astounded. I always use Newegg and I always will.

Excellent choice for me
Pros: This monitor is very bright and crystal clear...I adjusted the brightness/contrast to better match an old CRT I'm using for monitor 2. Otherwise it was calibrated perfectly right out of the box and is ideal for graphic work, which is what I do. Maybe I'm impressed because this is my 1st LCD, but I won't rest now til I get another one. Viewsonic conveniently supplied cables for DVI and analog.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: The thin bezel was a factor in purchasing this model. Eventually I'll dock two in portrait mode. The base is stable and versatile, but wide (2 feet are 15", 2 are 10") but rotating them 90 degrees will allow for this config. Newegg shipped immediately.

Great LCD, poor support
Pros: none
Cons: DOA. Sent in for an RMA with Viewsonic on October 25, 2005. It is over 3 full months later, going on 4, and I have yet to recieve the unit back. I started calling Viewsonic to ask what the problem is every other week in December. Since January I have been calling them 1-2 times weekly, and have been assured it would ship out the next day every time I've spoken with them. I've tried everything with these people, the support is the worst I've ever seen. It's ridiculous at this point, I don't believe a word that thier support tells me.
Other Thoughts: Do not RMA through Viewsonic, if you have a problem deal with Newegg if possible. Viewsonic's support is a joke. I will never buy a product from this company again.

Dude this is an excellent monitor!
Pros: Excellent for gaming, played Far Cry and no noticeable ghosting. Good color representation in gaming, no noticeable dithering. Good movie playback. Excellent for all around use such as internet/gaming/movies.
Cons: Very slight backlight bleed on black screen. Doesnt affect gaming or watching movies.
Other Thoughts: I did alot of research before choosing this monitor. If you want one of the best 19" lcd monitors, this is the one to get.

Great LCD
Pros: Had this monitor for almost a month now. Great functionality, large viewable area, sturdy/heavy base.
0 dead pixels.
Cons: Screen is very bright out of the box--but once you adjust display settings, it is fine
Other Thoughts: Fast shipping. Thanks NewEgg.

VP930b
Pros: The contrast on this monitor is fantastic. If you like bright screen, then this monitor is for you. Overall, the image quality is excellent. I've been playing Hlaf-Life 2, Quake 4, and CoD 2 without any significant artifacting or ghosting. However, the most impressive aspect of this monitor is not the video quality (which is good), but the fact that the screen can be completely adjusted [up-down, left-right, tilted: forward-backup-side-to-side]. The combination makes this screen
Cons: The X pattern that everyone talks about IS an issue. The corners of the monitor are brighter than the center...
Other Thoughts: The unit comes with 1 DVI and two standard VGA connectors.

Good LCD, not a CRT replacement.
Pros: For an LCD: Good contrast, no flicker problem with movies or applications that are critical to pixel response times (fancy way of saying Half Life 2).
Very nice profile/case with a thin edge.
EXCELLENT stand with high degree of movement.
Cons: While I didn't expect this monitor to rival a pro CRT screen, I was hoping for better image quality. Complaints:
1.) X shaped ghosting at the corners. Not ok on a $450 monitor. 2.) WAY too bright at default settings. 3.) Lousy gradation. When you look at smooth grayscale gradation, there are big "clumps" of color instead of smooth banding. 4.) Red Saturation is really off. I know this is adjustable, but I can't get a decent red saturation while having a decent color temperature. 5) Nasty quality at non-native resolutions. This may seem obvious...but you have to play games at the monitor's native resolution...which is 1280x1024. If your video card doesn't support playing a game at 1280x1024, then you have to change the monitor's resolution...which is what many people have to do. But...this makes for really lousy image quality.
Other Thoughts: While it's a good LCD for everyday use, it simply is not acceptable for any color critical work.
I know Tom's Hardware is absolutely in love with this monitor...but it isn't the standout winner they say it is. There's a difference between having good results on a test, and actual real world user experience. And this monitor falls a bit short of expectations in that department.

DVI DOA
Pros: Rotating screen, high quality adjustable stand, good picture quality, very little ghosting, great for dual display setups.
Cons: DVI input was broken from day one. Spoke with Viewsonic, rep talked me into a repair RMA instead of a replacement. Recieved my monitor back over 6 weeks later in the exact same condition I sent it away in.
White X seen on a black screen.
Other Thoughts: Spoke with another CS rep at Viewsonic. He said he couldn't believe that the first guy didn't just send me a brand new replacement immediately. He gave me an advance RMA replacement for a new VP930b and 2 day Fed-ex shipping. It's been 4 business days now and I still haven't recieved the replacement, so I'm very disappointed with the service from Viewsonic.

1st time LCD owner
Pros: Well. This the first time I own LCD. 1000:1 contrast ratio gives you crystal clear and so bright colors that I have never seen before on my old 19" DELL P992 CRT(even when it was brand new). AND, it's always good to have LCD with zero dead pixels as well.
Cons: If your are gamer like I am, this LCD may NOT be the one. Little ghosting and bluring when playing FPS games. Of course I have that X shape backlight bleeding as well (you can live with that easily) but it's almost unnoticable.
Other Thoughts: So: If you are harcore gamer, you may wanna look around for better perfomance model. BUT, if you wanna have LCD with best color representation - this is the one for you.

Not too bad...
Pros: Great contrast and brightness. Works well for most games. Not too bad of a price.
Cons: I fell victim to the ghosting white 'X' that gets burned into the screen by the backlight. I only notice the ghosting 'X' during darker screen moments such as those you encounter playing Doom 3, BF2, HL2 or any other 1st person shooter with dark areas.
Other Thoughts: Not a bad buy for the money. I would keep the LCD if it weren't for the 'X'.

Pros: Very adjustable stand, thin edge bezel, great image quality. Both VGA & DVI cables included.
Cons: One dead pixel. Small “DVI Signal” notification onscreen for about 5 seconds whenever you power up or change resolutions.
Other Thoughts: After using this LCD for 3 weeks I love it and highly recommend it. The tilt, swivel and up & down adjust on the base is great & I really love the thin edge bezel.
The image is gorgeous - bright, sharp & clear with beautiful colors. Brightness to spare. I set to 60% for everyday use.
Only one dead pixel.
The X-pattern backlight bleed through issue has been overblown. I maxed out brightness & contrast and displayed a totally dark screen in a pitch black room in the middle of the night. Yes, I could faintly see the X-pattern that people have talked about. Then I turned the lights back on and set the brightness & contrast to suit my personal preference and have never seen the bleed through again. If you use this monitor to watch dark shadowy movies with the lights out in the middle of the night this might be an issue for you, but for normal use it’s not a factor.
I’m not a gamer so ghosting not tested.
There’s no such thing a perfect monitor, but this one comes very close.

Very nice...
Pros: Excellent picture quality, easy setup, this is the best display I've ever owned. It's got very crisp picture quality and I absolutely love it.
Cons: 1. OSD is annoying if you are a gamer because it pops up every single time your video card switches modes (luckily you can move it out of the middle of the screen).
2. I had ONE dead pixel on mine, I can barely see it though... still it's unexceptable for such an expensive device.
3. Until I adjusted the factory default settings of a 100 brightness, there was an X pattern in the backlighting when on dark screens.
Other Thoughts: Overall a great monitor, but for that single dead pixel, it's only getting 4 stars. NewEgg, you rock.

Viewsonic VP930b - Not bad
Pros: The contrast on this monitor is very good, better than adverage. The color quality is also fantastic. There is no real detectable ghosting, at least any that I can see. This is a fast panel. I've got no dead pixels that I can determine.
Cons: The uneven black in an "X" pattern is evident when the screen is black. That's my only complaint.
Other Thoughts: I did look into the ViewSonic VX922 panel that was less expensive than this one. At this time it's hard to get hard data on that panel. It APPEARS that it's a 6bit panel, not 8 like this one, and that a few of the timing features at 2ms, but the highest latency is 34ms. Buy this one...

Still a great monitor
Pros: Bright, vivid colors; lots of screen real-estate; very flexible stand; multiple inputs.
I like it so much, I bought 2 more.
Cons: The X problem is viewable on a totally black screen, so if you watch widescreen DVDs, then you'll definitely notice it. However, if you're like me, then you rarely have a totally black screen, then the X isn't there.
The on-screen display via the front buttons is clunky and stays on the screen too long, espcially with resolution changes.
Other Thoughts: Ghosting is not an issue with my PC, even with first-person shooters or other games, thanks to a high-end video card.

Very nice monitor
Pros: Very big, can do all of the turning and flipping. I recomend this monitor.
Cons: I got 4 dead pixels out of the box! It's not tbad though you can hardly see them. Is very slightly green colorerd. Almost unoticable.
Other Thoughts: Anyone know how to fix the green?

Great for World of Warcraft
Pros: Great colors, no dead pixals, WoW looks awesome. No ghosting
Cons: Other people giving bad reviews, I read a lot of tech sites but some people say they hated the LCD and there was ghosting and stuff, I can say 100%, this is an awesome LCD, if there is any problems(ghosting, bad colors) it has to be there computer nad not this LCD.

Great after calibration
Pros: No dead pixels, multiple inputs, professional build quality and finish, excellent color reproduction and dark blacks. Color suite software for calibration absolutely useful and essential.
Cons: Poor initial factory settings for brightness, color temperature, contrast- everything seemed to be cranked to 100%. Buttons are a bit confusing- #1 and #2?
Other Thoughts: I was shocked how bright the monitor was when I first turned it on- I saw the faint corner light bleeding when I had all settings at 100%. However, this easily went away after calibration with the color suite software provided. My settings ended up around 40% for color (user adjusted- reducing the color of all 3 kept the temp at around 6500, but just with less brightness), contrast, brightness. That is the only reason this is 4 out of 5- they should have more realistic initial settings since no monitor needs to have that much brightness out of the box, especially an LCD. Connected via DVI.
