Pros: This modem stopped my Phase B Errors for incoming faxes. That is my only need for a dialup modem and it did the trick. I receive 40 or more faxes a day.

Cons: dont buy this modem.out dated,says it has caller id,it does`nt.says it will work with old v90 system,wrong.back to the caller id,web sight says your isp has to have a special#2 call waiting service for it to operate,they dont have any updated drivers to get around this.they claim there DSP chip will work without robbing power from the main computer,again this is wrong.locks up my computer and does`nt always log-off.speaker only comes two ways,off & loud.

Other Thoughts: go with USR 5699B model.cost more,but it works

Pros: It works well. The best modem I have. It has a DSP and V.92 and V.44

Cons: It's controllerless so it requires a driver. No Linux driver included. Like most modems, the speaker has two settings. Loud and off.
