Rating + 4 Happy to own them

Pros: Comfortable, durable, nice sound. I have had these constantly plugged into my computer for over a year, have occasionally dropped them and rolled over the cable with my desk chair, and they continue to perform flawlessly.

Cons: You could get better sound quality than these (but you'd probably have to pay at least twice the price to get it). The sound seemed to have a bit less weight to it than I would have hoped.

Other Thoughts: The standard cable they come with is very long, which can be good or bad. Also, standard cable ends in a 6.3mm connector, so you need to attach the included 3.5mm connector for common applications. Attaching the adaptor makes the jack/plug a bit long and relatively heavy.
The earcups may feel a bit stiff initially, but are very comfortable once you break them in.

Rating + 4 Good Headphones

Pros: Amazing sound quality for price and good bass. They are pretty light.

Cons: Too much pressure and it creates a little discomfort for you head if you wear them for longer than 30 mins.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend these headphones because of the price, it has the sound quality of $400 headphones.

Rating + 5 AWESOME!

Pros: These headphones are the best I've ever owned (and I've owned Bose headphones too). The Bass is amazing and when using them for video games they are like surround sound. Playing UT3 with them is an experience not to be missed!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just shop around for these, sometimes newegg has the best price (most of the time) and sometimes not...

Pros: I haven't bought myself a good pair of headphones in some time. These do the trick. Most comfortable HP that I ever wore. And they're large, I have a big head (like Stewey on family guy) and there is plenty of headroom.

Great quality as well. I did a lot of research and the consensus is the HD555 are the best there are.

Cons: Haven't found one yet.l

Other Thoughts: I use these for late night movies on my PC and when I play games so I don't wake up my wife and kids. I can have these on load and the sound doesn't leak through to wake wife up.

Rating + 5 Solid purchase

Pros: I'm extremely satisfied with the fit, performance and build quality for the price of these headphones. Extremely comfortable with excellent range of reproduced sound. What more could you want? Whether the source is the onboard audio chipset from my six year old MSI motherboard or the 15 year old Yamaha amp in the living room, excellent spacial reproduction.

Cons: They are so comfy I fell asleep one night about 3 months after I purchased these, listening (thanks to the 10' cord) to some music and I must've leaned on them too much. A small stress fracture developed in the left cup holding attachment - right through the brand-name. But it hasn't expanded in the last 12 months, so. Just don't fall asleep with 'em on. heheh

Other Thoughts: I've tried a few headphones in the local big box stores and though I couldn't find the Sennheiser brand to test drive, I bought them on the reviews of previous purchasers. I would say that I'm average with my knowledge of audio performance, but I specialize in other areas, and I know what my ears enjoy. If you don't mind spending the money on a good set of very comfortable phones (I wear a size 8 hat) which don't cause ear sweat or headaches and deliver excellent sound whether on your pc gaming or plugged into your entertainment center, then these would be your selection.

Rating + 5 Sound is incredible

Pros: Awesome highs, mids and lows- all frequencies sound clearer than any other headphone I've tried. As I'm not a fan of noise-canceling phones (they tend to lack the range and they're overpriced), these do a great job of drowning out external sounds. These are soft and comfortable, and I've worn them for over 6 hours straight without any discomfort on my ears or head. The build quality is excellent, and while I'm careful

Cons: While they are circumaural, they still have an open ear design (which is partly responsible for the crisp, natural sound). Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend these to people working in the office- you'll probably bother your coworkers. For that purpose, I'd recommend Sennheiser's lower-end (but still awesome) EH-350 headphones- unfortunate that Newegg no longer carries them.

Other Thoughts: These are not the kind of headphones you put on for privacy- rather these are for audiophiles who want to hear every nuance in their sound. While I originally bought these to listen to music, they work incredibly well when gaming- just be sure to get a decent soundcard- most integrated audio chipsets lack the SNR for quality playback (Realtek 889 or better).

Rating + 4 Worth the price

Pros: These headphones are great! The ear pads are ginormous and very soft. I have worn these for many consecutive hours late at night with little/no discomfort. The sound quality is very impressive. I notice detail in music I have never been able to hear before.

Cons: Pricey. Definitely crackles a little bit at high volume with high bass. The 6.3mm connector is pretty bulky, so it can fall out of an mp3 player easier than 3.5 connectors.

Other Thoughts: There is no in-line volume control, but that doesn't bother me. Sennheiser makes the best headphones/sets IMO.

Rating + 5 Incredible

Pros: Sound amazing with no burn in (though I'm sure they'll be better with it). Bass is really there, which is important to me for the kinds of music I listen to (bass guitar-heavy stuff). The highs and mids are still there too. I was afraid of the 280's because of the lacking bass and didn't want to have to reset the equalizer on all of my electronics to account for lacking bass. So glad I went with these over the 280s.

Cons: Some sound leakage both in and out (because they're open headphones, not closed), but nothing bad in my opinion. Very long cord. I just wrapped it around my mp3 player and shoved it in my pocket anyway.

Other Thoughts: I got these to replace a pair of closed headphones that, no matter how much I broke them in, they still hurt my head after about 30 minutes. I recommend these over any closed headphones, especially dj's. I was afraid of the 280's because of the lacking bass and didn't want to have to reset the equalizer on all of my electronics to account for lacking bass. So glad I went with these over the 280s. Sounds great with a sound card.

Pros: Dear Newegg:
About 5 minutes ago I submitted a review for SENNHEISER OMX70 3.5 mm right-angled stereo mini-jack plug Connector Earbud Adjustable stereo clip-on Sport earphones. However, I meant for that review to be used for the Sennheiser HD555.
Please change it if possible.

Rating + 5 Finally they broke

Pros: So I've owned these babies for probably 2 years or so. I've probably dropped them thousands of times, ran over the cord with my chair, dropped them on my desk, etc. The actual headphones themselves have never broken, the plastic and fit has always been perfect.

However, due to the vary large cord, and the very small distance from my computer, the cord began to tangle. This caused cuts in the tubing covering the wires, but this didn't actually damage the sound.

However, FINALLY, the sound in the left headphone cut out. It almost seemed like it was supposed to happen, with all the damage these have taken.

By the way, the bass became clearer and clearer towards the end, and I loved these all the way.

Cons: Very very long cord causes tangles and bends.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money

Rating + 5 Ummmm....WOW!

Pros: I honestly don't know where to start. I am having a hard time wanting to listen to my computer speakers or home theater speakers, and they are both high end Klipsch speakers which are in my opinion the best there is. These headphones sound just as good if not better. I can hear so many aspects of the music, and small things I could never hear before. I am almost speechless at these headphones. The highs and lows are outstanding, and the bass is perfect. I listened to BEATS by Dr. Dre ate Best Buy and these Sennheiser HD 555's BLOW THEM AWAY! The clarity of these headphones is just insaine! I am listening to them on my computer right now with an HT Omega Carlo Plus+ sound card. The combination of the two put together in mind blowing. I am not using a headphone amplifier either, and I see no need to unless you would like to lose your hearing. I am a huge audiophile and accept nothing but the best in my car, computer, or home theater. Trust me you will not be disappointed if you buy these

Cons: You don't own them yet! I couldn't live without them.

Rating + 5 Upgraded from Icemat Sibera..

Pros: So many of you wonder, "Is it really worth it to upgrade to the HD555's from an already decent headphone set?" YES!

These headphones are way out there. I was a bit skeptical when I read the reviews when I heard things like: "They're so comfortable, I forget I'm wearing them!" or "The bass is amazing..". Well all this is true.

Music-
When It comes to music these headphones let me listen to sounds I have never heard before. I listen to lots of different music and everything is so balanced and perfect there is nothing to complain about.

Gaming-
I play a lot of Counter-Strike:Source and other games.
I wanted headphones that were top of the line. I need the best to hear where enemies are gonna pop out from. Immediately I realized how much better these were from my Icemat Siberas. I can literally close my eyes and point to exactly where the enemies are just by sound ALONE! These headphones are amazing!

Pros-

Amazing Comfort

Sound Quality is insane!

Beats Icemat

Cons: I really can't think of anything...

Cons-

WHAT?.

Other Thoughts: JUST BUY THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I was a bit mad that I could plug it in into my speakers headphone jack but, I could care less now that I know how good these headphones are.

READ THIS!!

If you've heard anything about the bass being bad or too low. THEY ARE WRONG!

It is true that the bass is weak when you first get them but, YOU NEED TO LET THE HEADPHONES BURN IN. Most high quality headphones are like this, give it time.

It takes only a couple hours till the bass starts kicking in. The bass is incredible!

Just so you know.. I paid 130$ for these.
It was worth it.

Rating + 5 WOW.

Pros: These are hands down the best circumaural headphones for the money. Perfect balance of price/performance. I've had these for more than a year, and still look EXACTLY they same way as the day I got them. I break things easily, and it REALLY surprises me that these have lasted this long in new condition like they have. These are the most comfortable headphones. I wear them for about 4-6 hours daily, and I mean daily. Sound is untouched and comes through like it should and like it was intended. Do your research and there will be no surprises.

Cons: None that I can think of, honestly. We all love to be critics, but there is nothing I can think of that would be a con.

Other Thoughts: If people think these are uncomfortable, they either have the most oddly shaped head or they will NEVER find comfortable headphones. These are hands down the easiest headphones to wear for hours on end than anything I've ever come across in my life. I use upgraded padding than what comes stock (sent to me free) I don't know if they sell them, but if they do they would only be 5-10 dollars I'm guessing. Better padding material than the foam and fit better.

Rating + 5 Sound Terrific

Pros: Comfortable, durable, single line out the left side

Cons: None, I was aware of two of the "issues" with these headphones before I purchased. More in the 3rd half of my review.

Other Thoughts: These are circumaural headphones. This means they will not block your ability to hear noise from outside the headphones, nor will they be quiet to an outside listener.

This comes with the larger 1/4" plug rather than the standard headphone jack size. The headphones do come with an adapter but the only place the larger default plug is useful is plugging these into my stereo receiver. Normally they are plugged into my PC or my Sansa.

Rating + 5 For the price, they're hard to beat!

Pros: There are many good things to be said about these headphones. They are extremely efficient, which is great if you ever want to use them with a portable music player (though I don't recommend these if that is your only use for them). Comfort is another thing that deserves to be mentioned. If you wear glasses, you'll appreciate the comfort of the velvet padding. I can barely feel them while listening to music during the day, and can be comfortably worn for multiple hours. However, the most impressive aspect of these headphones is the well-balanced and accurate sound. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better set without spending $50 or more than what you pay for these. The treble is fantastic, and the midrange is fully realized. Bass is tight and accurate, without being overbearing. The level of detail is astounding once they get settled in.

Cons: As efficient and sensitive as these headphones are, you won't get the best low bass without a separate amp. That, combined with the break-in period these headphones require may be a deterrent for some listeners. Sound leaks, but this is understandable considering that these are open headphones.

Other Thoughts: It needs to be said that these headphones, like any good set, won't achieve their optimal sound until the magnets have time to become relaxed. Paired with a decent amp, you can unlock the full range that these cans are capable of. You don't necessarily need an amp to get great sound with these, though. A half-decent soundcard on your PC should be adequate for most everyone. As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't recommend these if you're only going to use them with an iPod or the like. Games, and especially music, sound so much better with these headphones. For the price, you really can't beat 'em!

Pros: These headphones were quite the jump from a pair of Logitech USB headsets, both of which broke after a while because of non-durability. The quality of these things amazed me; I could now tell the difference between 320kbps MP3s and AAC/Vorbis. This brought me into slight despair as I realized that I needed to re-rip all of my CDs.

Purchased this in June last year and these are still working hard.

Cons: Bass is lacking, but if you don't pump something that really needs a subwoofer through it, you probably won't notice too much. Haven't heard distortions in months, though.

Other Thoughts: Burn-in definitely helped to make what little bass there was sound better than right out of the box.

Pros: Amazing sound, and very comfortable. I highly recommend these headphones if your looking for nice quality. I've hooked them to my amp, and they sure do sound great for music, gaming, and movies.

Cons: Everyone next to you will hear your music. But this should be no surprise due to them being open headphones. However, I wear these in a office (in room of cubicals) and I can put the volume to a moderate level with no one hearing a thing. Works for me!

Other Thoughts: These are very pretty light headphones, yet feel like they have a solid construction. They also mold nicely to your head and squeeze enough to not feel as if they will fall off your head.

Comfortable as hell. (I wear glasses and BTE hearing aids.)

Cons: Sounds bleed through the headphone like crazy. People downstairs of my APT could hear it through the walls.

Rating + 5 Very Happy

Pros: - GREAT sound.
- Long cable.
- Very comfortable, I have experienced no discomfort wearing these for extended periods of time. The open design does allow some room noise to enter the soundstage at lower volumes though I tend to view this as a plus for my situation.

Cons: No in-line volume control.

This is a big con to me as I'm not accustomed to having to go into game settings to raise or lower volume. It's less of a problem when watching movies as the volume icon is more readily accessible.

Given the quality of sound I feel that the trade off was worth it, just be aware that if your focus is gaming, that unless you plug your headphones into a speaker system module with volume control that you will have to pause your game to adjust volume settings. I can't even count the times I've been blasted at high volume when forgetting to lower the volume a bit before launching a game.

Other Thoughts: I've been using midrange gaming headsets for years($50 range) and had absolutely no idea what I was missing. The difference is astonishing. I miss having the built in mic, but a desktop mic will suffice.

Nearly all of my gaming headsets have lost sound on one side or the other within 6 mo. to 1 year (most likely due to cable abuse). I decided to step up to a higher level of product this time around. The difference in sound quality is stunning. I'm hearing sounds in games that I'd never even noticed before. The improvement when watching movies is equally impressive.

The last thing I will address is comfort. I often watch movies on my PC while reclining on my bed. All of the headsets I've used (on-ear) have been extremely uncomfortable when resting one side of my head on a pillow. I was a bit worried about the same situation with these due to their size, but the plush ear cups combined with the over-ear design are actually quite comfortable in that situation.

Rating + 5 Closed vs open

Pros: Velvet earpads (great for those with glasses), sound quality, long cord

Cons: Sometimes a hard case would be nice.

Other Thoughts: As has been stated a time or two the sound will leak out of these. If you want to keep sound in you need to get the 280's or a similar closed design which means you'll have to take them off more often to let your ears adjust. The open designs dont build up the pressure on your ears but those around you can hear what you are listening to. I have one pair of each, closed for traveling on airplanes and open for relaxing at home. So do the proper research on the types and get what fits you needs instead of griping about sound leaking out when you've purchased a open design. :) Regardless, the sound quality from these will amaze you.

Rating + 5 It brought out the best in all my music. Something I never experienced with computer audio before.

Pros: AMAZING audio clarity, super comfy design (even for my fat head), well built, the best headphones I have ever owned in my lifetime.

Cons: Zero.

Other Thoughts: Newegg doesn't give me enough space to give justice to every feature this pair of headphones offers. I am using an Auzen X-Fi Prelude sound card, and the sound clarity is something I have never experienced before. I am mostly a gamer but I enjoy listening to music on my computer. When I played a concert version of Hotel California and turned on the Amphitheater effect via my sound card software, I truly felt like I was in the front row of the concert. With these headphones I was able to hear every strum of the guitar, every shake of the maraca, and every tone of Don Henley's voice. It was truly incredible, and again, something I never experienced before with computer audio. Saying that these headphones bring out the best in music is an understatement. I owned many headsets and headphones ranging from $10-$300. NONE compare to these. If you are looking into an audio upgrade or just a new toy, BUY THESE. RIGHT NOW. Especially if you are a gamer. I can't tell you how much these help.

Pros: While I am in no way a serious audiofile type, even I could tell a notable difference in sound between these headphones and the cheap off the rack stuff at your local consumer electronics store. Very happy with the purchase.

I wear glasses and most headphones crush my ears painfully into my glasses arms. These headphones were cushy enough that this wasn't an issue.

Rating + 5 Beautiful.

Pros: This set of headphones is as high-quality as it looks. It's really soft, and good for long periods of listening. It's the first set of headphones I've ever worn as a hearing-impaired person with hearing aids to be able to put over my ears entirely without any feedback. I think it's because of the open-design. The basses are so much louder than before, and panning is beautifully executed.

Cons: Finds every little blip or scratch in an mp3 file. That's the downside to getting higher-quality speakers or headphones.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again. Good price here too--double digits lower than you get it at other places. Noticed big improvements in general audio listening (at high bitrates, mind you), but haven't tested for music creation yet--that's next.

Rating + 5 A Very Pleased Consumer

Pros: 1) crystal clear sound
2) no crackling when volume is cranked up
3) very comfortable and well padded
4) great price
5) balanced sound--bass, treble, and mid-range are all clearly distinguishable
6) solid construction

Cons: 1) sound does leak out, but not in
2) cord not long enough (for my needs)

Other Thoughts: I bought these cans b/c our new living room isn't ideal (open floor plan, cathedral ceilings) for a surround sound system unless I spend a fortune, yet I wanted a means of enjoying the full audio fidelity of my PS3 games. Well, let me tell ya', I got it: I can hear sounds that I didn't even know existed! I've been playing a lot of Saints Row 2 lately, and just being able to hear even "clink" of your bullet shells hitting the ground, and every little conversation from passing pedestrians has made me totally enamored with this headphones.

I'm not an audiophile, and I don't have other over-the-ear cans to compare these to; but I can honestly attest that the incredibly balanced, rich sound has made me a very, very happy consumer. I'd highly recommend these headphones to someone who wants to get the most out of their media without spending a fortune.

Pros: Clear mids, deep bass, PERFECT treble

Cons: Even though these headphones are relatively efficient on power, using them with your Ipod is not recommended. Even on a plain computer these lack the proper power. ONlY when you have a speaker system with a pre-amp you can directly control you can fully experience the wonderful bass, mids, and treble. Also, they leak ALOT of noise, so you cannot use them most situations (IE Airplanes, Bus, Library, basically any public place).

Other Thoughts: If you want audio-phile grade headphones, these are decently priced w/ free shipping. They will require plenty of power to fully experience them. Oh, and at full volume, it's essentially like having a pair of projecting speakers of the sides of your head.

Pros: These headphones are great! I am a gamer and these are the best headphones I've ever used. Not only do my ear stay nice and cool (it's almost like I'm not even wearing them) plus the sound quality is terrific. If you're a gamer, these are a must have!

Cons: The only bad thing I found was that the 3.5mm connector is a bit wide. I am unable to plug in my microphone while using having these plugged in. But that's ok with me...

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for any gamer.

Pros: Absurdly comfortable. I've had a lot of mid-high range headphones and these are by far the most comfortable. You hear people saying, "I forget I'm wearing them!" about certain accessories, but with these, I really do.

The sound is great all throughout the spectrum, really clear bass.

Cons: Everyone around you will be able to hear what you're listening to. It does a pretty bad job of keeping the sound in, although that's not really the intent of this type of headphone.

Other Thoughts: If you're a gamer and talk on voice chat (Ventrilo), you can hear your own voice clearly through this, which helps you control your own voice level. I purchased the Sennheiser 280 Pros, and gave them to my girlfriend because I couldn't hear myself at all.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a set of $30 koss headphones I was blown away by the comfort, sound and construction of these headphones. Don't hesitate, you won't regret your purchase.

Rating + 5 Great Selection for Me!!!

Pros: Wow! A few weeks ago, I bought these headphones for a family member's birthday. After giving them to her, I had to try them out - they are terrific. They match the highs and lows perfectly, and the bass reflects that of my Sony home-theater system. They are so comfortable too - they aren't so warm like a closed design would have been. I was so impressed that I bought a pair for myself. Also, the Newegg price and fast shipping is unbeatable!

Cons: Not really a complaint but just something to consider: the cord is unbelievably long - who really needs that?

Other Thoughts: I couldn't decide whether to buy these or the HD 280 Pro model. I settled on these because the 280s felt like they pushed against my head too hard, and they got way to warm. Also, I read that the difference between the two are that if you buy the 280s, your music style requires that you have headphones that can hear each and every pindrop. While I listen to music like jazz where it is imperative that I can hear the details, I still wanted headphones that could play my music loudly and it still sound good - these fit that description! I love Newegg's prices and shipping!

Rating + 5 Awesome Sound, annoyingly long cable

Pros: I love these phones! Great sound reproduction without any noticeable frequency spikes or troughs. Seem very neutral to me, with maybe a hint of pumped bass. Extremely comfortable.

Cons: The cord is obscenely long. I wish it was either detachable, or was shorter and came with an extension because its length can be amazingly unwieldy. Also the huge plug (1/4" stereo) and adapter that is REQUIRED for use on any normal device (barring A/V receivers) is really stupid. the adapter adds on about 4 inches of length to the plug and can exert a ton of force on the socket due to its length.

Other Thoughts: The annoying plug bothers me but honestly the sound quality overshadows that inconvenience. Buy a cable adapter from radio shack or something and you wont have to worry about breaking the plug socket on your iPod (or whatever you use it with) because the included adapter scares my with its weight and its ability to act like a lever on the socket. Great headphones, annoying cord. Get them now! The price is a freaking bargain!

Pros: Decent sound, decent comfort

Cons: Not as good as others in price range.

Other Thoughts: I ordered these because my audio-technica AD700s were a little uncomfortable so I thought I'd try these out seeing as they are in the same price range and got good reviews. The HD555s are inferior in sound quality and comfort to the AD700s and having both I would say the AD700s are better in every way. Do yourself a favor and get the most for your buck and get the AD700s.

Rating + 5 Fantastic

Pros: Very comfortable over long periods, and even with the open design they don't let out enough noise to bother the people around you at any reasonable listening level.

These things sound absolutely fantastic. They have fairly flat frequency response all across the range of human hearing, although it drops a bit on low bass - a small equalizer adjustment deals with this. You won't get boom-box bass, because boom boxes (and anything else with a cheap subwoofer) play exactly one bass note but play it very loud. What you get instead is audio fidelity, with the ability to play all low frequencies.

Cons: Unusually, these have the 1/4" plug on the headphones with a fairly ungainly adapter to use the more common 1/8" plugs. I'd suggest buying an adapter which includes a flexible cable, because the included solid adapter can put a lot of strain on the device it's plugged into.

Other Thoughts: A few people have complained about the bass, so let me clear this up further if the 'pros' section didn't cover it for you: They won't rattle your fillings out, but if you pay attention you'll notice that they're actually playing notes instead of making thumping noises. It also helps if you run them from a headphone amplifier or a device with a proper amp circuit - sound cards and portable devices designed to drive earbuds might not be able to provide enough power for strong bass.

Pros: Very comfortable, even after listening for a long time; great sound for the price; ears less sweaty after extended use than with my headphones with closed cans.

Cons: Roommate is slightly annoyed by escaping sound, but it's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Most people would say that if you live with or around people who might get annoyed by what they hear outside of the headphones that you should look into different ones.. I disagree. Anybody that says they're annoyed is just jealous that the headphones are on your head and not theirs! On another note, Newegg never ceases to amaze me with their efficiency in processing orders and getting them shipped out.

Rating + 5 Best gaming headphones period.

Pros: These headphones are light, comfortable, easy on the ears, long / thick cord.

I had these all of 3 hours and was banned from my favorite CSS server. It is unreal how these bring out the sound in your games, Cod4, Warhammer, CSS, Bioshock and the list goes on..

If you are on the fence on these, just get them its worth the investment.

If you have any kind of audio issues (hissing / popping) these headphones will let you know.

Cons: Only con i really had is the fact it has the older 1/4 plug w/ an 1/8 adapter, makes for kind of sore thumb out of the back of your PC or if you plug into the front, it will stick out a few inches.

Other Thoughts: Will absolutely make you a better player know where they are coming from :0

Rating + 5 Sennheiser HD555

Pros: Excellent sound quality and comfort. You will of course need to give them time to burn-in, but for the price paid, these are well worth it.

Cons: While the package includes a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) adapter, it's not very suitable for computer or portable music player use since it causes the jack to stick out quite a bit. You might look into ordering a more flexible one to prevent wrecking it by accident. Some people have complained about the Bass quality, but most media and music players these days have equalizers that can tweak the Bass to your choosing. The Bass quality is definitely better than my old headphones - Sony MDRG051s - so it's still a step up for me.

Other Thoughts: I tend to research purchases like this on any website that reviews it. It definitely paid off. I listen to a lot of music while I work and relax at my computer, and I demand a lot out of my music, and these met it. I would not consider myself an audiophile, but prepare to drop a few more hundred dollars if you're looking for anything better. For the rest of us, these are perfect enough.

Pros: I've always used headsets before, but typically they're made by gaming companies that give no real thought to durability. The sennheiser's though are superbly made and actually feel like they'll last a long time. The foam covering on the earcups is extremely comfortable and the open ear design keeps your ears cool.

Cons: They can be a bit hard to actually adjust. The slide for the earcups sticks a little too much when I want to adjust them.

Pros: Great Sound. No muffle sound. easy on the ears even in high volumes. very very comfortable.

Cons: the cord is a bit long for laptop use.

Other Thoughts: Remember these headphones are open back headphones no noise canceling so don't expect quiet. u hear people just as loudly when you have them on as if u do off. sound travels freely though these headphones. they cover my entire ear very well and i can have these on for hours and hours and not have a problem at all cuz they are so comfortable. This is def not for mp3 players unless ur an idiot... and the cord is extremely long especially for me because i use a laptop, im sure it is very useful for people with desktop users. i just simply put a rubber band around the cord to make it shorter and have had it on ever since. im starting my second year of college with these and they have drop many times and still no damage to them. Definitely recommend these headphones for people who don't need the noise canceling feature.

Pros: very comfortable, good cord length, great sound quality and construction

Cons: at this point, I'm not sure it's worth $80 more than an hd202. HOWEVER, mine aren't done burning in.

Other Thoughts: compared to the 202's, which I was using before, the sound is fuller and a bit richer, though I think that's because of its open design. Mids and highs are much better defined. Pros: These headphones are the milk! Their sound quality is better than bose in my opinion. The cord, which you wouldn't think a big deal, is a perfect length and is very thick so it can sustain many rollovers from your computer chair. The plastic is definently first rate and seems like it will last a long time.

Cons: They are not as bassy as i would like, but honestly if i want some bass i would have bought a 7.1 surround sound system. They seem to amplify sound almost to good to the point where the headphones are acting as speakers and everyone can listen to what you are listening to. They really don't cut out any surrounding noise, but what the heck just turn up the volume.

Other Thoughts: I gave them a 4 star because they are not as comfortable as i would like, but i got them for a good price and the sound quality is outstanding. Would definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for a modestly priced pair of headphones that can compete with the top dogs.

Rating + 5 Pamper Your Ears

Pros: Sennheisers have been my personal favorites since 1974. I've owned other brands but always recommend this company's offering to any and everyone.
I have 2 pairs of the HD555's and the HD280's as well. These by far are the most ergonomic and comfortable open air I've ever tried. For discriminating listing my Ultrasone 2500's reveal more naturally accurate Piano, Horns, tympani, acoustic guitar etc,but cost 4 times as much. Those are worth it but are not as comfortable: Round versus oval shaped and too much headband pressure. There is a very pleasant yet moderate noise isolation that allows you to hear ambient noises like the doorbell, phone rings and people talking next to you but masks the distracting noise. Sometimes I put these on to soothe the headaches of lawn mowers, leaf blowers, car alarms or anything else causing a headache. I fall asleep faster with these even with nothing playing!

Cons: You'll have to hear them for yourself to decide if they are the best $sounding headphone Value.

Other Thoughts: Bose invests a heap of money on their marketing and and has convinced a lot of people to overspend for what sounds slightly dull and over compressed to me. And I have been in and out of recording studios enough to have a good listen to live music and think Sennheisers are always on your sort list since this is what many Pros use.

Cons: not free?
idiots like lord shredder write reviews about them claiming to be an audiophile while complaining about lacking sound quality while listening to garbage quality sound files ?

Other Thoughts: @ lord shredder, you sir are an idiot. If you have a decent sound card and GOOD headphones like these sennheisers your awful quality 192kb mp3 files will seem to have white noise in them and not sound amazing. Becuase that is the difference between a 320kb mp3 file a good quality lossless audio file and the garbage at 192kb if your such an audiophile why are you such a dolt,.
Mp3s cut out certain sound wavelengths those typically arent REALLY easy to hear if your using your garbage ipod headphones but with a high quality soundcard and nice headphones like these your lacking audio quality is amazing apparent

Rating + 5 High Quality

Pros: These headphones are a great deal especially for what you get. You will immediately be able to tell the quality of the audio that you're listening to. I wouldn't recommend these to someone that is going to be listening to strictly mp3's because most mp3's aren't up to par with cd or dvd in terms of clarity and precision. Although why you'd spend over 100 dollars on a pair of headphones and then listen to mp3's is beyond me. The connectors are nice and solid. It's also a plus to have the 6.5 mm connector for my receiver later at night. These will definitely put you into whatever you're listening to or watching.

Cons: There is a bit of sound that "leaks" from the headphones, but for most purposes that won't matter.

Other Thoughts: Phenominal, especially for the price.

Rating + 5 Can't beat Sennheiser

Pros: I bought these to replace a treasured pair of HD-545's I'd acquired a few years ago. Despite a recurring problem with the wiring (a obvious design flaw in the 545 that couldn't be helped with the purchase of a new cable—I would imagine that's why Sennheiser doesn't use that type of connection anymore), I adored the comfort and performance of the 545's. In comparison, the HD-555 is just as good, if not better. Yes, the fit is a little snug at first, especially if you have a big and fat Andre-the-Giant-type cranium like mine, but rest assured, the foam will soften over time. And yes, the design does allow for sound leakage, but if you're listening to music at such a high volume that it disturbs other people in a totally quiet room then you may want to get your hearing checked. Certainly nothing that a strategically placed fan couldn't fix—or maybe do yourself a favor and just cut back a little bit on the speed metal. All in all, well worth the purchase. Danka Schoen, Sennheiser!

Pros: These headphones sound great. If you're into techno then they're perfect. Maybe it's just me but techno, electronica, trance, etc, sound ten million times better with these headphones than any others that I've ever tried. They sound great with all other types of music as well and I haven't even broken them in yet! As far as gaming goes I haven't gotten a chance to try them as I am currently building a new computer, maybe I'll write back once I give them a test run on Crysis.

These things are also extremely comfortable, I can wear them all day no problem and I'm pretty picky about that sort of thing.

Oh and for those worried about the whole adapter thing it actually clips on really well and is not loose like many others.

Best headphones for the money I've tried.

Cons: If you want headphones for any form of privacy and listen to things louder than a whisper then these headphones are probably not for you. These things are practically little speakers. I knew buying them that they would be like that but I didn't know it would be to the extent that it is. So yeah, if you're buying these be prepared for that, I can hear them through my bedroom door if I have them up loud enough. However I don't use them for a laptop, mp3 player, or anything like that so it doesn't really matter.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you shop around, as of this review Newegg is ripping you off compared to some other e-tailers. Lower them back to $100 guys!

Bottom line - Great headphones, sound quality is great, headphones are super-comfortable, but they definitely offer very little in the way of privacy.

Pros: Good for FPS games with a good sound source. I use them for all my games.

Cons: They're so good they forced me to write this review =x.

Other Thoughts: These are worthless if you don't have a high quality source of sound. =p

Rating + 3 Mediocre Sound

Pros: Quality construction, thick cable, flexible rubber, light weight, extremely comfortable velvet ear cups. Sonic clarity great for gaming/movies (not outstanding for hifi music). Definitely better than brands like Sony.

Cons: The sound is marginal, even at the cost. The mid range sounds out of phase (and slightly tinny), the bass response is almost non-existent below 100. The high range is extreme, but not in a pleasant way. It isn't smooth, it picks up unwanted noise, and MP3s even at 192Kbps sound like a swirly mess.

Other Thoughts: I am an audiophile and do digital mastering. I have been a user of Koss studio headphones. I find these very disappointing in sound comparison. However, due to Koss products being of very poor construction, I keep breaking them and was moved to find something more durable for 40 hours a week hours of listening. I've read about the "break-in" period, and the Koss have that as well, but sound much better immediately. I may return these.

Rating + 5 Amazing

Pros: Exceptional clarity, sharpness, detail in sound. I have never heard better sound. I'm not even an Audiophile (although these are making me one) and I can recognize the differences between these and other headphones. Great for games, as well.

Cons: Have to break them in. These headphones are so advanced that any music quality below 192kbps makes the music sound bad. Jack is a few inches long due to the 3.5mm adapter.

Other Thoughts: I can testify to the breaking-in process that these require to have adequate bass. The more you use them, the stronger and deeper the bass gets. BUY THEM.

Rating + 4 Great but situational

Pros: The sound is great. I've never had a pair of headphones that sounded this good. They also fit great and you can wear them for hours and hours and never even notice. I think it's velvet but whatever it is on the ear cups feels like heaven.

Cons: The downside, and its a huge downside if you're trying to use them like I try, is that whatever you're listening to, everyone else can hear it. These are not headphones in the sense I knew them. These are more like portable speakers in a headphones package. Even when you have something playing at low volumes, the sound will leak out and everyone else will hear it. These are not "personal" headphones in that sense so be aware where you're listening to them.

Other Thoughts: They sound great but they didn't fit the use I had in mind for them, and therefor do not get 5 stars with me. Extremely comfortable and great sound but they are portable speakers more than headphones. I have a sound system at my apartment so I was hoping they would work as a great pair of headphones to watch movies on my laptop while I'm travelling or other stuff and these are not that kind of headphones.

Rating + 4 Solid Quality Headphones

Pros: These headphones are the most comfortable piece of equipment I have put on my body. Comfortable to wear in any situation, which includes resting in bed. The quality of sound is succint, clear, and excellent. The cord is very long, which for the majority of the time is beneficial. It is also durable but light.

Cons: The bass is not very strong. I never knew I cared for bass levels until I heard some of the differences between this headphones' average level bass and other high-end gear. The greatest drawback is the open-ear design. Not ideal at medium-high to high volumes for roommates and listening to in public areas, which is a letdown.

Other Thoughts: Again, sound quality and comfort level is fantastic. Sound leakage is a drawback, and bass is a little weak. 4 stars.

Rating + 5 Amazing headphones

Pros: Amazing sound through all ranges, increased depth and clarity from lower grade headphones. Even when paired with a cheap amp, in my case a cmoy, they project a large laid-back sound. There is no edgy sound as in my old HD205's nor is there the muffled, bassy sound of a friend's HD280PROs. Also, they are amazingly comfortable! I have glasses and my ears stick straight out yet it's more comfortable to wear them than not!

Cons: Higher impedance (50ohms, newegg has yet to update specs) is difficult for many portable devices to properly drive. An amp such a cheap DIY cmoy take them from hollow, almost tinny at times to a nice full sound which I have

Other Thoughts: I'm not an audiophile, but these headphones are just downright amazing if you can properly drive them. My digital music player was having issues driving these. After a bit of reading I decided to make a cheap "investment" by constructing a cmoy amp and I haven't been disappointed by the pairing at all.

Rating + 5 Amazing for price

Pros: Amazing sound for the little they cost. I have not heard better sounding headphones although I have not been around many. Has nice bass response and nice highs. With these headphones on my music comes alive.

Cons: None really only thing I wish is the cord wasn't one long cord maybe a coil instead but that isn't a big deal at all.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend these to any of my friends.

Rating + 5 Headphone phun.

Pros: I've tried many a head phone over the years and I tend to stick to the 50-100 buck range and these just happen to be on sale for just the right price at time of my purchase :)
These are the BEST headphones I have ever owned. They are built well, they are the most comfortable and they have the most clear sound from such small speakers. I use mine in conjunction with a x-fi fatal1ty pro and I've never heard games, music and movies like this from headphones. They are even better than my 5.1 surround sound speakers.

Cons: The cord could be longer.

Other Thoughts: Get em while they are hot! Best deal on the net.

Rating + 5 Good phones.

Pros: Great sound, had a previous $120 Sony headphones before this and they sound better than those.

Very very comfy, fit very comfortable around the ears and head.

Cons: First time I plugged it in I could not hear sound out the right side. I hooked up to my iPod and could hear in both sides, then hooked back up to PC and worked just fine.

A kind of con is also the cord length, extremelyyyyyyyy long.

As well as the plug into the computer being a bit too bulky.

Other Thoughts: These arrived 5 days after shipping with rush.

The sound leaks quite a bit on these headphones, extremely so and more often than not when just laying there. Such as vent voices when you are away, I heard them from downstairs.

Rating + 5 Excellent Quality

Pros: They came out of the box ready to plug in. There were no drivers to install, and the only thing I had to configure was my making my system recognize sound through the Audio Output.

First, music. I can hear certain drum taps, sounds, pitches, etc that I never heard before in my edimensional Audio fx pro's. I get amazing quality out of these and I highly recommend them.

Second, games. I now play call of duty 4 on 5.1 channel speakers, high sound quality. I can almost perfectly judge the distance / direction of other players and gunfire with these on. I am in tournament play, and they have greatly helped with my performance.

Third, comfort. These feel very lightweight, the padding is excellent, my head doesn't really feel like they are on, and overall I love wearing them. If it wasn't considered unfashionable, I would probably put them in my iPod.

Cons: I don't know if this could be considered a con, but to some it might. If you are in vent with people you talked to before getting these headphones, you might have a problem. Mainly because it seems like they have different voices, and younger players seem a bit younger. When people breath ever so slightly into the mic, you can feel it in your ears, which might be a turn off for some.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con: Apparently, the bass in the headphones develops more as the diaphragm loosens up. It takes about 200 hours of total usage, before bass will feel heavier and come in better quality.

Rating + 5 great gaming headphones

Pros: Comfortable, unparalleled sound quality, durable, great costumer service, better sound quality then some $200+ headphones.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Use them for counter-strike and halo 3 and the positional hearing on these headphones are so amazing that you don't even have to see someone to know where they are.

Rating + 5 Great spatial sound and comfort

Pros: very comfortable, watched a movie with them and forgot they were on my head... good spatial sound, quality is pretty decent...

Cons: quality and crispness wasnt as expected, but still better than average.. i wasnt as impressed with them as i hoped to be.. however i've only had them for 1 day

Other Thoughts: since i've only had them for 1 day, and after reading about the "burn in" effect, i think within time they were sound better, because i believe in the burn in effect... i left them running over night continuously playing music from my mp3 player and when i woke up the next day they sounded slightly better, maybe its my imagination but i dunno, im giving them 5 stars for their comfort and good spatial sound... and i have a feeling that within time the quality will improve, the bass is there but could be better, comparing them to a 15 dollar pair of walmart sony headphones, i found that it wasnt a "huge" jump up, but i think that's cuz im use to the 15 dollar pair, so i just have to get use to this new pair and i think i'll be a lot happier with them, actually i already am happier with them, but im hoping they get better in time... from burning them in...

Rating + 4 Truly amazing headphones.

Pros: A pair of these and an X-fi Xtreme Gamer can make you hear enemies from spawn. The sound quality for music and games are amazing and will blow you away. The HD555's are extremely comfortable, durable, and lightweight. Make sure to use a decent quality soundcard with these headphones, or you won't unlock it's full potential.

Cons: Unfortunately, some sound leaks out of the headphones. This leak actually benefits the sound quality by giving it more surround, but it is bad for private listening. My parents got angry when they heard the moaning from my p0rno.

Other Thoughts: Good for games and music, but I wouldn't recommend it for any hardcore p0rno viewer.

Rating + 4 Great Open Ear Headphones

Pros: These headphones deliver excellent sound and are capable of very high volumes. For open ear headphones these contain the audio well, just don't turn them up to high, high enough to make your ears bleed.

Cons: No attachment for cord control. Extended use allows alot of heat around the ears.

Other Thoughts: When I first got them I was so used to using closed ear headphones and was very disappointed with the leakage at the higher sound levels and the bass, scheduled a RMA. After some use I began to appreciate the quality of the audio at the lower volumes, which is still loud when wearing them. Also the bass began adjusting and now I can say these are the only headphone I have ever owned that need no help from an equalizer.
