They Rock!
Pros: Amazing sound, I expect these to last me quite a while. They were a huge upgrade from my Sony MDR-V250's that I had owned for many years (they just broke). Before I couldn't really tell the difference between music ripped at 128kb/s and 256kb/s, but now, with these, it is very easy to tell how much higher quality the 256kb/s ripped one is. Sound is extremely crisp. Treble and mid sounds amazing... and bass sounded great too (though maybe not as good as the Treble and Mid, it's still awesome.) Very comfortable headphones, too. Though they were rather tight at first, after 5-10 hours of use the begin to loosen up and confrom to your head nicely. They also look pretty cool for big, bulky, around ear headphones, and I very much like the metallic green tone. The holder that it comes with for the headphones was exactly what I needed, because my last headphones broke because I set them on my chair and sat on them sadly. Nice and lightweight, which is good.
Cons: After continuous use your ears may rub up against the speaker, and it hurts after rubbing against it for over an hour or so. Be warned people with big ears. Not really a big deal though, and i only noticed it in the first 5 hours of using the headphones (before they loosened up). The cord is also considerably long (3 meters), so this is not a pair of headphones that you will be using with your player in public. I tested it with my Creative ZEN Vision M MP3 Player anyway, and it sounded great with it regardless, and the volume was acceptable aswell. Note that these headphones, because of its open ear design, does not block out any sound at all. In a loud environment these aren't too ideal. The open ear design makes the sound much better then an equivalent closed ear design, so it's worth it in my opinion. If you're in a noisy, populated environment, these headphones aren't for you.
Other Thoughts: I read many other reviews and noticed a lot of people mentioning how the headphones leak sound. Because of its open ear design this is true, however, it's not nearly as bad as people say. Maybe it would be a problem in public, but I don't think many people will be using this while in public much anyway (with the exception of maybe Air travel) because 1: They're bulky. 2. The cord is long. 3. These things are great, but face it, it's pretty embarrassing to be wearing these big things in public. Get a pair of good earbuds (I'm using Sennheiser's CX300-S earbuds. I reccomend them for your player too)
BOSE might have good noise cancelling, but their sound is equivalent to headphones that are a fraction of the price. I own a pair of Bose's QuietComfort 2's and the sound in the HD 485s are far better. I would easily sacrifice the noise cancelling of the BOSE for the sound quality of the HD 485s
Oh, and these headphones get a thumbs up for gaming, too.

Very good, let the phones wear in a bit
Pros: Great sound quality and comfortable feel. The headphones are a bit larger but they fit tightly and snug on your ears and head.
I am in the process of wearing these in a bit in terms of sound. Music sounded a bit "muted" at first. I am using a Creative Labs FX series for high-definition sound. I modified the sound card settings to work best with headphones and this meant turning off some of the features that you might normally use for surround sound speakers. This also helped the headphones performance.
Cons: Sound is a bit muted at first - at least that is my experience but I am no audiophile.

Four Egg rating, ONE reason why.
Pros: Awesome clarity. I've had these for a whopping one day and I'm already in love with them. Very crisp, solid sound. Very comfortable, awesome build quality, detachable cable, replaceable ear covers/muffs. It came with a headphone holder, and I actually like the color of these cans. In games I can hear things I've never heard before, the sound positioning is pretty dang good.
Cons: One con, and one con only. Noise. These are loud. What I mean is, anyone around will have no problem hearing what your hearing. They do not keep sound INSIDE the cans unfortunately. That is the only downside to these.
Other Thoughts: They are the best cans in this price range HANDS DOWN. If your looking for a good gaming headset, pair these with a Logitech USB mic. Perfect combo, its what I use.

These are GREAT Forget Bose!!
Pros: These are great crystal clear. The price is also very resonable and i would buy these headphones over the $140.00 Bose ones any day. They are very comfortable to lots of padding able to wear them a long time, in fact im wearing them right now. All in all dont waste your money on high end brands like Bose when you can buy Sennheiser, it is truly a great brand.
Cons: No cons i like everything about them
worth every penny
Other Thoughts: The Cord length is great if your going to plug them into your computer and use them only for that. DONT try using them for a ipod the cord is like 10 ft.
These are defiantly media pc Headphones!

just great!
Pros: I love these things. They're VERY comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The cord is DETACHABLE, so if anything ever happens, you can buy replacements directly from Sennheiser. The sound is very good and won't get too distorted at loud volumes.
Cons: Not very attractive to look at, but comfortable nevertheless. I wanted slightly more bass, but these are just fine.
Other Thoughts: Free shipping, what are you waiting for?

Pros: Detachable cable Comfortable Great sound for the money Headphone Holder
Cons: Maybe the color?
Other Thoughts: I owned a pair of HD500's a few years ago. Needless to say I killed them(accident :X) and have been wanted to get another pair of sennheisers.

Pretty Decent
Pros: Comfortable Audio cable detaches Overall decent sound Punchy bass
Cons: overpowering lows, flat highs and midrange Lacks WOW factor No carrying case or bag
Other Thoughts: I was expecting a lot from these cans from preious reviews but once I tried them on I'm some what disappointed. They are good enough to keep but I'm not wowwed by them. My high end car stereo sounds much better.

Sonic Astonishment!!!
Pros: These headphones ROCK! I noticed that a few reviewers have claimed that these headphones are lacking in the treble department. You guys are tone deaf. These headphones have outstanding treble performance. I had a chance to compare these headphones to my friend's HD 280PRO set. What I noticed in the comparison was, the HD 485s have a much more "warm" sound, but without being "muddy". The HD 485s, impressively, almost reproduce the sound of big floor speakers; something I've been searching for for quite some time. The treble response is very equal and even. For example, the 6kHz range doesn't overpower the 15kHz range. As far as bass goes, the HD 485s have the best bass response out of any open-ear, and better than most closed-ear headphones that I've listened to. The HD 280PROs, however, sounded like a good, yet typical, set of headphones. The midrange and lower treble (approximately from 700Hz - 6kHz) was overly present. Ran outa room. Conitued in Cons...
Cons: PROS Continued: The HD 280PROs produced glass-shattering, ear piercing, and uncomfortable treble, where as the HD 485s produced more of an overall "clear" sounding treble. *CONS:* There are no significant cons, however, there is one minor thing that should be addressed. These headphones are open-ear, and because of that, others around you can hear whatever you are listening to very easily. For example, I was listening to one of my favorite songs "Meridian", by Sirenia at full blast the other day. I happened to look up and noticed the ol' lady, who was acrossed the room, singing along.
Other Thoughts: These headphones fit tightly, but at the same time, are very comfortable. I've listened to these headphones for hours at a time, and neither my head nor ears have ever felt soar. It's amazing how Sennheiser has managed to cram so much awesome into one set of headphones! Buy these!

Awesome Headphones
Pros: Owned them for over a year now. Still sound just like they did out of the box. For anybody that knows anything about sound quality, these headphones are a godsend!! They are very comfortable for long periods of time... They make anything sound amazing in the whole range from low lows to high highs!!! Great for music, gaming, anything involving sound!!
Cons: Very big... would have been nice if they were collapsible
Other Thoughts: Great buy, would definitely buy these again.

Great buy
Pros: Cant be beat, even for a higher priced set. very comfortable. great overall highs lows and midrange even with a mp3,cd player. amped they are even better. very happy, satisfied, and would buy another set when these wear out.
Cons: none at all.
Other Thoughts: they do have a break in period. they seem to achieve a more warm and better sound after about 20 to 30 or so hrs of listening time. love the bracket/holder.

Amazing, Simply Amazing
Pros: I was stunned after trying on a pair of my friend's HD485s--the quality that I had been missing out on, the bass that I had never known, the cormort that I would soon come to know. These headphones are a godsend, for now I am even purchasing a X-fi XtemeGamer sound card to up my audio experience that much more. These headphones make everything sound better, I can now even tell the difference between 128 and 256 kbps bitrates. You will not be sorry, especially with this unbeatable price and great manufactuerer.
Cons: The only thing is that I realized how bad my onboard sound card was, so I am upgraded to an X-fi Sound Blaster from Creative.
Other Thoughts: The cord is very long, which is a nice plus. After about 15 hours of use, the headphones break in and the bass settles down to a great level.

Good headphones
Pros: I wear these at work. Good for long duration, they breathe well. They sound well balanced, the bass doesn't make my ears sore after an hour or so of listening like my HD 202s sometimes did. The cord can unplug from the headphones, so a rip or break doesn't put you out.
Cons: They're a bit bulky, but that's what I expected. They're also not behind-the-ear, unfortunate for hair when at work, but again, that's what you expect when you buy these. It's hard to think of a 'gotcha' con. The adjustable headband slides a little too easily, when I put them down occasionally one side will slide up into the headband a little.
Other Thoughts: Good buy.

A few extra notes
Pros: Big Head- I have a pretty big head. When I first bought them I worried if they would be uncomfortable. They're not! Have been able to wear them for 3+ hours with no irritibility, and yes you do forget you're wearing them.
Durability: The flexbility of these headphones allows them to be beaten up extensively. I have thrown them in a backpack countless times with heavy textbooks. It takes a lot to break them.
Cord: Cord is not welded into the headphone, so it is very easy to replace if something unfortunate happens Everything else from sound to price has been reviewed extensively, and I agree with those people
Cons: After a about a year, the adjusting mechanism wears down a little, which is not anything close to a big deal, but sometimes makes it so that the headphones sit unevenly on your head.
Other Thoughts: If you want a durable, reliable, amazingly priced headphone, these are for you! Everyone I show these to wants a pair.

Great sound, but everyone will hear you.....
Pros: Superb sound quality and supremely comfertable, although I have personally never owned top quality headphones I would imagine they sound something like this. Rich bass and clear treble, great for gaming and music playing and personal listening but.....
Cons: Not really made for out of the house, and it isn't just aesthetic. While the massive size does a fairly effective job of keeping sound out, it does nothing to keep sound in. At less than half volume someone next to you in a quiet enviornment will hear it clearly. In a way, this almost defeats the purpose of headphones.
Other Thoughts: I have been looking and looking for some good headphones for my mp3. Unfortunately, the four main types of headphones all have their drawbacks. Buds are uncomfertable and usually dont sound so good, canals are great when you dont hear yourself breathing, circum-aural are great if you dont want to hear an echo and dont mind your ears burning up, and supra-aural are great if you dont mind everyone around you thinks your rude because they can hear your music. *Sigh*. I will try canals methinks. If the last option pertains to you, these headphones are waiting for you.

A real winner at last!!!
Pros: Finally Sennheiser has almost brought back the sound and comfort found decades ago in the 414 and 424 models. The precise definition of sound demanded by classical music combined with the bass that gives rock solid rock. They are not as good as the old 424's but they are as close in comfort and sound as available. Excellent vocals. Terrific bargain here now at NewEgg
Cons: They are comfortable and use sponge but they fit away from the ear unlike the early on-ear models which muddies the bass a bit. Noticable on hard percussion such as LZ' "ZOSO" album and Cream,e.g.
Other Thoughts: Until Sennheiser comes out with on-ear 'phones that sound this good, these are great for the price I paid here on NewEgg.

Excellent headphones at excellent price
Pros: These headphones sound great, highs to lows. The lows impress, I didn't expect under $100 headphones to have such great bass. They are also very comfortable, after wearing for 15 minutes I forget they are on my head.
Cons: The ear holes are smaller than some higher end head phones.
Other Thoughts: I tried out a buddies HD600's with a headphone amp for a few days. The price tag was a little too steep so I went with the HD485s. The only noticeable difference is in the highs - the 650s highs are much more pronounced.

Pros: Exceptional clarity in the high end, good solid bass, and adjustable.
Cons: They're not free and I have been spoiled by Newegg and exceptionally fast processing and shipping
Other Thoughts: Don't write reviews on speakers/headphones until you give them a chance to burn in. Vista's version of my audio drivers seem to have more on the high end whereas XP's version of the drivers has more bass.

They are OK for the price
Pros: Good bass, highs and mids are pretty clear. Nicely priced. nice long cord. Make sure you give em a week or so to break in. Bass was making popping noise first day I had them
Cons: Kind of tight fitting, the ear padding and covering makes your ears get hot quickly, Kind of gives me a headache after using for an hour or two. they should have used that soft pleather like material instead.
Other Thoughts: I read all the reviews, which were great on this site, however, I am upset that I didn't get ones with better ear padding and covering. I will be sticking with my Bose. They are better for general entertainment purposes and gaming in my opinion.

great find
Pros: Great set of headphones. Fit my head just fine. No headache after hours of gaming. Sounds great if connected to a sound card. Great price also!
Cons: Sounds so-so if connected to onboard sound. But a sound card is much better IMHO.
Other Thoughts: If ya need headphones and you are not a trained pro....Get These.

Expectations Met
Pros: These cans rock! Even without breaking them in, they deliver straight out of the box. Running these directly out of an X-Fi, the lows and highs are hard hitting and crisp. Bought these for music (Industrial/Electronic) and gaming. Current comparison for the headphones are the HD457's which I used for quite a while, and the improvement was quite noticeable with the HD485's. Excellent range coming from the low-end for any interested bass-head!
Cons: I find the mid-range on the HD485's is somewhat lacking. I find these cans to be great for electronic music - but probably not for anything needing pronounced tonality in the mid-range as you may loose some quality.
Other Thoughts: I recommend the HD485's to anybody seeking good sound or the entry-level audiophile. An amplifier could probably open the sound on these babies even more. Happy listening!

On Par With In Ear
Pros: Very comfortable. Very rich sound.
Cons: None as of yet. They still work.
Other Thoughts: I bought this after my Shure E3Cs died on me. The Shures were in ear buds. The 485 does not cancel out the noise as well as in ear buds, obviously, but it definitely makes up for it in delivering a more clear and polished sound that only a pair of circumaural headphones can deliver. Top quality headphones here.

Great Headphones
Pros: Great sound! Waited 2 weeks to be sure that it has broken in before writing this review. Great bass compared to all the Sony headphones I've used in the pass.
Cons: Ears do get a little warm, but it is expected since they are enclosed headphones.

Pros: The sound on these headphones are by the best I've heard. And I've tried many different brands, Sony, Zalman, etc. The Sennheisers are just so crisp and clear! Great bass as well which is what was surprising, a friend of mine said that it sounded like the headphones had a built in sub. Awesome headphones
Cons: A bit pricey but worth it, didn't buy them on newegg though, found them somewhere else for $60 Sorry I'm a traitor =/

By far worth it
Pros: All sounds come through amazing. Bass is incredible. High end and mid sound superb. Very comfortable wearing for hours on end. Cord length is good, but I also love long cords for my headphones. Removable cord is also a very handy feature for me.
Cons: They do leak sound, and aren't ideal for quiet rooms, as everyone will be staring at you as you live away in musical bliss.
Other Thoughts: Highly recommended.

Best headphones I've ever bought
Pros: I was completely blown away by the quality of these cans. Sounds unlike anything you've ever heard, and very comfortable too. For this price, you just can't get anything better.
Cons: It takes about a month of regular listening to break them in completely, but this is standard for Sennheisers and I knew that when I bought them.
Other Thoughts: I can only imagine what their more expensive stuff sounds like.

Awesome
Pros: The reason I bought these is because I wanted circumaural cans because I'm getting too old (30) to put up with phones crushing my ears. Turns out these things rock. The comfort is class A.
Cons: None yet. Had them about 6 months

Great Sound
Pros: Very crisp sound and strong bass. They are also very comfortable. I can wear them for several hours without feeling uncomfortable.
Cons: None really.
Other Thoughts: It's better to plug them directly into your sound card rather than a jack on your speakers. I did that and there was no static at all, whereas plugging into the speakers created a bit of static.

Night club in your head
Pros: These are actually Circumareal and NOT supraaural. That means that the ear cups fit around your ears (Circum) instead of the phones sitting on your ears (supra, which is incomfortable). Awesome sound for $xx! They sound like a nigh club if your playing that type of music. For higher quality phones like these the base is amazing. No cheap booming sounds or stuttering. Highs are just really nice. I listen to ALL kinds of music and evrything soung great. Moving sound like the theater. Cable is long, and parts are replaceable.
Cons: Remember that these take a week to break in, both in terms of sound and fit. They will feel a little tight for a few days and then they are VERY COMFORTABLE! The sound can be a little warm at times, but seriously for music, gaming and movies this is the best! Was $xx when it was on a deal.
Other Thoughts: Ahhh my first Sennheiser phones! Had a $xx Sxxy one the MDR-200 which was also good, but these are way better.

Very Clear, Very Awesome
Pros: These sound so clear, and are extremely comfortable. Also the sound positioning is very cool.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Slight static when there is no other sound, but I'm almost positive this is because of my on board sound card, which I am upgrading.

great headphones
Pros: pretty good sound quality and bass, a little bit tight feeling at first but a very comfortable fit (should stretch a little over time), cord long enough to do anything except walk all over your house
Cons: no microphone, but i knew that getting them
Other Thoughts: got these mainly for a new mp3/media player cause the stock earbuds suck of course, use them secondly for my PC when i dont want to be too loud

Sennheiser just gets wiser
Pros: Overall good sound quality (as other reviewers said...its so precise that you would start hating low bitrate songs because you can hear the annoying background sounds) Bass is handled very well, extremely deep making your time greatly enjoyable. No fatigue when listening to it for long hours. One time i had it on for about 7 hours and even slept with it..i didn't feel any pain in my ears. Give it some time for the optimum quality to hit..then youre in for the best enjoyment of music ever. Treble is superb also.
Cons: -For mp3's...i believe it doesn't handle the sound quality AS well as it does for pc and other grand sound systems. - When i'm on my pc with these phones and i open the window..i still can slightly hear the winds coming through...and i can hear my door creaking when i close it....so it does bring in some outside noise...i wished it did..it wouldve been the greatest headphones ever then. It does leak sound...i don't know if it's a lot but i just have very good ears.
Other Thoughts: I hope sennheiser is able to make headphones like these except closed versions...that have better potentials at noise cancelling. Besides that the quality of these headphones are top notch and amazing. Best value, best quality, best as always..Sennheiser.

Great Sounds!!!
Pros: First I have to say is WOW!!! the sounds are amazing and Clear...You hear them all, the highs, mids and lows, and each one has its own clarity...some reviews say it doesnt drown out the background noise, yah right. i have three little ones and i cant hear nothing but game...they are a great buy!!!
Cons: none yet!!
Other Thoughts: this is my first pair of real headphones and i am impressed!!!

Magnificent!!!!!!!
Pros: Well rounded pair of headphones. Great highs, and extreme lows. The mids are above average, but not exceptional. Very comfortable. They have been worn for several hours; (3-4), with no ear fatique so far. The listening experience of these 'phones is very intense! Good job Sennheiser!...and you too, NewEgg!
Cons: The highs are so high, that you can hear everything, and then some, on every song. Although that could be that I am not used to listening to headphones this clear. Additionally, I am not sure if it is a soundcard issue on my recently purchased laptop (HP dv5000), or what, but I can hear some songs better on Winamp, and others better on iTunes.
Other Thoughts: My research to find these headphones was fairly intense. So they were scrutinized thoroughly against others in its' class; (grado, shure, etc...) before the purchase. Again, the money was well spent and if I had to do it over again...I would!

wonderful product
Pros: Comfortable on first use and remain comfortable after many hours. Excellent sound quality. Nice mount for hanging headphones (keeps them away from the PC where my wife sometimes placed them). Great price.
Cons: Foam padding might deteriorate over the years. Might not be as good as more expensive Sennheiser headphones?
Other Thoughts: Replaced a 10 year old Technics headset I bought for $xx retail (I had an employee discount - only $xx) - sounds and feels noticeably better and I liked those old headphones.

AWESOME !!
Pros: HD485 + X-fi Fatal1ty = Awesome sounding! Everything is crystal clear, sounds are totally separated, with depth, the feeling is like 3D Sounds for music. Headphone surround is awsome.
Cons: NEVER !!
Other Thoughts: U gotta break these headphones in... I left mine on MED-HI volume while at work for 4 days and its all good. Grab the VISA and go buy yours right now!

Fantastic Headphones
Pros: on Audigy 2- these are terrific for any kind of music. makes me wonder why i even considered spending more on a more expensive set. desk clip is a nice touch (you don't realize how convenient it is until you try). sounded better after a couple days of break-in. Ordered before noon, at my doorstep by 4pm the next day. NEWEGG ROCKS!!!
Cons: it's been about a week and they still feel a little tight after an hour's use. ear foam looks kinda cheap, but it's fairly comfortable considering this isn't a "deluxe" or "luxury" set of headphones.
Other Thoughts: slightly disappointed that they are circumaural, studied pictures for a long time and thought they were flat (supra-aural i think). definitely not for blocking out background noise, but that's not what they were made for.

Crisp & Deep Surround Sound
Pros: Crystal clear clarity with my Creative 7.1 24-bit 192KHz Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series card. Unbelievable quality to these things. Deep surround sounds give gaming a cinematic quality and 128 kbt mp3's sound like mp4's. Comfortable and Easy to wear for hours and very sturdy build. The holder attached easily to my desk and with its adjustments im sure could fit on any desk with a lip.
Cons: Ear pad material picks up a lot of dust, but that's nitpicking.
Other Thoughts: As virtually everyone else has pointed out these cans are by far the best under (and even over) a hundred $ I've owned, and I've owned more expensive ones. If I ever lost them or they were damaged I'd buy the same ones again in a heartbeat. In fact I like them so much I'll probably buy a duplicate set just for peace of mind.

Excellent sound for the money
Pros: Quick delivery as always from NEWEGG. The sound from these is excellent. I bought them for general use and to compare to a pair of Noise Reduction headphones and prefer these much more than the background hiss of the NR set. Extra long cord. Adapter for 1/4" plug. Convienient holder.
Cons: They are large.

Ridiculously Good Sound
Pros: These headphones have amazing sound. I'm using these in addition to 5.1 surround, and I've got to say: these sound way better. I popped in a music CD, and the clarity is absolutely ridiculous. I've never heard my music sound like this before -- even on my good 5.1 speakers. The range on these headphones is 16Hz-24kHz with less than 0.2 percent distortion, which is totally awesome. They're more comfortable than any other headphones or buds I've had before. For my setup, the 10ft cord is exactly what I needed -- I'm using all 10 feet of it. Comes with an adapter to change the plug size and a nice thing to hang the headphones on that attaches to a desk.
Cons: When I first put them on, they seemed to be a little too pre-curved for my head. After a few minutes of wearing them, though, that feeling went away, so there's really no problem. The headphone holder has a tendency to slip a little on metal legs of desks. It still works, though. Made my 5.1 speakers that cost 4 times as much sound lame.
Other Thoughts: I've got a top-of-the-line sound card, which may or may not play a role in the sound quality.

Awsome Supra-aurals
Pros: Excellent design, i haven't had any problems with design after they have been broken in. Superb lows, and crystal clear highs. You will experence depth to your music that you never knew existed. I was able to hear the subtle plucking of strings in any rock songs.
Cons: Bass can be to much some times, which makes it hard to hear the mids.
Other Thoughts: Cannot emphasize how good these headphones are, even compared to some of the lower $XXX headphones.

Nice Headphones
Pros: Clean sound with good mids and a potent bass. Nice quality, comfortable. Headphone holder comes in handy.
Cons: None, really. See other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for the price. Compared to the HD555 (I own both) the bass is a tad more pronounced, so is the treble. Messing with the EQ you can achieve a very similar signature to the 555 (or vice versa), save the mids in the 485 aren't quite as clean as those in the 555.

Almost An Year
Pros: I've owned my 485's for about an year now and paid a quite more back then. It was money well spent. Don't let the low new price fool you. They are great set of cans. I use them hours on ends with my IPod every day and they get better each day. If you don't like earbuds, you must at least get the 485's. After almost an year of use, I have no regrets buying them. I will buy another pair for the office or upgrade to the 595's which are a lot more. You can't go wrong with the 485's. They are AWESOME!!!
Cons: The cord is too long, but I use zip tie to manage.

Why didnt I buy these sooner?!?!?
Pros: umm.... Where do I begin? Extremely comfortable, ungodly response, and almost weightless. The bass had excellent depth to it, and the highs REALLY shine through. I havent even finished burning them in yet... they sounded WONDERFUL straight out of the box. VERY good price/performance. Sennheiser all the way!!!
Cons: They DON'T exist...
Other Thoughts: These headphones were NEVER intended to block out background noise... they can easily drown it out... but were never intended to filter it.

Good phones for sure
Pros: Extreme comfort even for long periods without sweatiness, excellent sound quality, good bass reproduction, cool including mount/hanger.
Cons: Doesn't isolate user from outside noise very much, not a big deal.
Other Thoughts: These phones were a great deal for the xx I paid for them. The design speaks of quality, and everything just feels right about them. There's really nothing to dislike. Even the box was impressive, lol.

Break Them In!!!
Pros: | v
Cons: | v
Other Thoughts: Make sure you break these cans in or burn-in. I did a lot of research on this and its true. I have been leaving them on at mid/high volume when I leave the house and even just after 2 days they sound better than the day I bought them. The price these cans are at right now is a STEAL!!! They even produce a nice "Soundstage" for the people who know what that is. If you are not looking at spending over $xxx.xx get these cans. These are up there in the mid/high end don't let the price fool you.

Awesome!!!
Pros: I went from Plantronics Audio .90s that I have been using for the past 3 years to these and all I can say is WOW! The things people say about listening to music are TRUE! I can almost not stand listen to 128 kb/s MP3s anymore because these headphones are so clear you can hear the hissing sound a lot louder than regular headphones. They do take a couple of hours to get used to but one you do they will fit your head perfectly and you can wear these headphones all day. Awesome Highs, mids, and lows. The bass in these headphones are incredible. I swear I am going to go deaf because you can listen to music so loud and it is not distorted at all. I am a HUGE gamer and from a gamers standpoint they are great. You can ACTUALLY tell EXACTLY where people are coming from in games. These headphones coupled with a standalone mic and you will be good to go.
Cons: No cons here. Except when pushing the bass to the limit they do rattle but any speakers will do that when they are loud enough =)
Other Thoughts: Headphones wise you really don't need to spend anymore money then this. These are going to be the best headphones for a price/performance wise and you are getting a lot of performance for the price. Especially if you are a gamer and want some good headphones that are under $xxx.xx than these are great.

Awesome
Pros: Awesome sound, very good highs, mids, and bass/lows, great for a budget gamer/cheaper person, these are one of the best price per performance headphone on the market, and should not be missed
Cons: none, other than the fact that the 595's are just a little better (but cost $100 more)
Other Thoughts: Newegg was fast, Get them!

Great headphones
Pros: - Unbelievable response across all frequencies. I was amazed at how awesome my music sounded compared to my other headphones - Excellent quality for the price - Headphones encompass ears completely - Ingenious screw-on 1/8" -> 1/4" adapter does wonders for reducing the plug depth in tight spaces.
Cons: - Do not completely isolate you from outside sounds, despite the fact that the headphones cover your ears. You can hear higher-pitched frequencies like fans running, etc. through them. - The cable is almost impossibly long. Even at a desk, the wire repeatedly gets caught in the casters of my chair. If you plan on traveling with these, you had better bring a twist-tie.
Other Thoughts: It's mostly just the little things that cost these headphones the fifth egg, but if you're looking for great sound, but have a low (read: student's) budget, then you should get them.

Wow.
Pros: Amazing sound quality. All the depth/high's and lows you could ever want for a great Gaming/Listening experience. These headhpones are GRADE A for comfort and during my long gaming session (over 8+ hours long) I can hardly tell they are on my head. Great soft paddins, great headset holder is included.
Cons: No mic. Being a gamer the only con I have is it not having a microphone; but these headest are so AMAZAING! i went ahead and bought a throat mic.

Excellent
Pros: Excellent sound. Great highs, mids, bass. Light weight. So comfortable I forget I'm wearing them. Detachable cord. Comes with easily mountable rest. Great price. Good deal.
Cons: As with any headphones the bass just isn't comparable to a good sub. You really need to feel bass as well as hear. I haven't found a pair capable of that yet so this is really being picky.
Other Thoughts: I never fully appreciated my X-Fi sound card until I started using these for gaming and music. I'm really glad I bought these.

Hear all the Music
Pros: I never really purchased high end headphones before and thought I would replace a somewhat mid range noise canceling set with these. All I can say is WOW. I was stunned to notice the quality of music that these produced. The Headphones are extremely comfortable and I use them for about 6 hours a day.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Great Headphones
Pros: Sound Quality is superb. I used to use a set of S**y's for sound editing but found them to be uncomfortable and unclear. Switched to these and can hear everything! Very comfortable even after 5 hours of daily use!
Cons: Break them in!!! They'll sound like cr*p for the first few days but once you get used to them you'll love them. Also (more of a testimate to thier quality) I can hear EVERYTHING so it takes me twice as long to edit an audio track but the final output is 5x better.
Other Thoughts: These headphones will sound only as good as the audio source it's connected to!! Don't blame these headphones if your music sounds bad, cheack the SOURCE/Encoding! (ie radio vs CD player)

Just what I was looking for
Pros: Very comfy, I can't stand headphones that sit on my ears instead of around them. They don't get too hot either.
The sound is perfect; very well balanced in my opinion, though that is a matter of personal taste as much as anything.
Cons: Non that I can think of specifcally. They distorted a bit for the first few days (maybe a week) especially on the high end, but they have broken in fine.
Other Thoughts: I went ahead and got these along with a new soundcard and a set of speakers, since I was getting everything else from New Egg. I wasn't sure just what to expect, but the price was good and Sennheiser has a name.
I've been using them every night for about a month, after the other people in my house go to sleep, and they have broken in very nicely. The highs aren't too harsh, and the base is appreicibale. Music sounds great, and they give just enough punch for gaming. This is my first pair of decent headphones (as in the first pair I've spent money on) so I don't have a great base for comparison, but I am 100% satisfied.
Of course prference for headphones is a very individual thing, so the best I can say is that if I had to buy an other pair of headphones, they would be Seenheisers.

not what i expected
Pros: strong bass
Cons: too small for my head, gives me a severe migrane, rendering them useless. audio has a tinny, boxed in quality, as opposed to the other headphones that i have used, such as my current icemats, which are so flimsy that they have to be superglued, taped, and rubber banded together.
Other Thoughts: if you have a big head or like rich audio, these headphones are not for you.

Unbeatable for the Price
Pros: Light, comfortable, good sound, great price. Comfort is really important to me because i wear these cans for many hours in a row. I sometimes forget I have them on.
Cons: havn't found any.
Other Thoughts: I'm basically using these cans for gaming and some light music listening. Great alternative to speakers if you don't want to disturb the other people in your home.

Highly Recommended
Pros: Light, though frame, long thick cord, high quality drivers, well padded, deep base, killer price.
Cons: some people might not find the cans comfortable due to the "not huge" can sizes.
Other Thoughts: I just couldn't be happier with these headphones. They're the best and most expensive headphones I was willing to buy. I've been using them for two month and felt compelled to share this report and give credit where credit is due. They sound great playing my music and games. They sport deep base, great mids and highs. For playback, these headphones are either mated to a great quality 5.1 soundcard or to an audio receiver. I've made the mistake of tripping over the cord and sending these cans flying off the table or across the room a couple of times and they have taken the rough landing like a pro. These headphones were exactly what I was waiting for; great quality and great price.

Pros: First, I have had these headphones for about 4 months now. They sound amazing, it took about 4 months for me to break them in though. I can certainly tell the difference between out of the box and now. I listen to all kinds of music, but they handl techno especieally well. Tight bass
Cons: They are kind of hot. I can only keep them on for like an hour or so. I am pretty picky about that though. (Thats why I give it a 4)
Other Thoughts: I think they do not get enough power out of my motherboard headphone jack. I run this through a USB sound card to give it the power desierved.

Incredible Headphones
Pros: One can tell immediately that these headphones are special; clear, great base, and very comfortable. Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow is a real trip with these on. The reproduction is amazing.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I have purchased headphones before, over the years, but nothing that could produce music like these. Highly recommended.

Wow
Pros: These headphones are amazing. I am noticing things in songs I never knew were there, Lord of The Rings with these headphones is beautiful, I almost prefer them to surround sound. Open design keeps your ears pretty cool. Very durable (stepped on them and they didn't even make a noise). Little holder thing is nice. These are amazing headphones.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Even the box is fancy. It has a built in lock, and it is just a cardboard box!

Cons: none.

Pros: Excellent cupping of the ears, Wonderful bass, excellent clarity.
Cons: A little bit spendy, but worth it. Large...but thats to be expected, they are home theater headphones.
Other Thoughts: You get more than you pay for. I bought them for music and gaming. They work wonderfully. You hear things you never knew were there. Definately worth the money.

Fantastic
Pros: Awesome sound. Highs, mids, lows... Fantastic. Someone said the bass wasn't that good, but I thought it was fine. As much as you could expect from headphones. Just great balance and clarity.
Cons: At first the headphones were kind of tight against the sides of my head, but after a while of use, and a little bit of stretching they fit better. Hopefully they're get a little looser over time. I don't think i have a wide head, but if you do they might feel a bit tight. They'll loosen up.

Perfect Headphones for the Average Listener
Pros: Fantastic set of headphones without paying an extraordinary amount The foam bands around the headphone speakers form a ring on the outside of your ear, an odd feeling at first but extremely comfortable. Very good for long session listening or even listening in bed. Also they are good for running off my Ipod, although a little bit less quality due to the ipods power.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I'm not an audiophile, but I enjoy a good set of headphones and for me these are perfect. The sound is excellent, and any better would most likely be wasted on me. And finally, just to reiterate, as they are "open" headphones, you do need a fairly quiet environment to listen in.

Execelent
Pros: Great sound for the price, sound comes in clear and crisp while watching a movie, playing a game or listening to music.Great directional aptitude, if your a serious FPS gamer I recemond these for hearing where you oppponent is comming form. Nice long cord that will let you get up and move around a good distance. Solid construction, usefull headphone holder and visualy pleasing desigin. Neat box.
Cons: A littel too bulky in my oppinion for portable player use. Slighitly uncomftorable desigin, the cloth padding can be a little itchy and the cans can make your ears really hot after extended use. A simple removal, shake, scratch and put them back on and you'll be set. If you have big ears you might not like these so much since the inside of the can is a little cramped. To be honest, nothing I would call a buy-stopper for these cans.
Other Thoughts: An amazing pair of headphones at an amazing price. Too many good features toped off by Neweggs amazing service (My package arived FOUR DAYS before the scheduled date.

Great product, great service
Pros: Amazing service. I placed my order at about 1am Dec. 22, and I got my phones the 24th! I wasn't expecting to get them till after Christmas so I was quite surprised and happy.
Product is great as well. I'm no audiophile, but they're great for everything I do, mainly listening to music and playing games, and watching movies sometimes. I really have heard things in songs I never could before, and this is from the moment I plugged them in not even any burn-in time. I got rid of my previous headphones because they hurt my ears quite a bit and weren't very good. These are GREAT. I can wear them for hours with no discomfort, and all the parts seem sturdy and high quality. The holder is just icing on the cake, and it's a good one too, not just a cheap piece of adhesive stuck to a piece of plastic that will ruin your desk. Very practical and easy to move around, it's even padded so it won't wear down the padding on the headband.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: Best service I've ever had from a company - especially online, thanks Newegg.
Great headphones that I have no doubt will last me for years. I was a little worried about spending so much on headphones but it's well worth it and is a fair price. A high quality product that will last me for a long time is a better deal than buying some cheap headphones every few months.

Fantastic sound
Pros: Very Comfortable! the Highs, lows, and middles sound awsome staight out of the box. I cant wait to hear what theyre really capable of after theyre broken in. These are wayy better than Bose Triports. 50-60 bucks less, better range of Frequency, and more dB. Just buy it, its well worth it.
Cons: Non-existent
Other Thoughts: the detachable cord is awsome, and the over all design is very rigid and tough.

Pros: Typical Sennheiser build and sound quality. Comfortable. Inexpensive in the world of hi-fi headphones.
Cons: very large, still 80 bucks.
Other Thoughts: Sennheiser is a strong competitior in the hi-fi headphone market. If you need a good set sans the debt, try a pair of these.

good headphones
Comments: if you want to step into the world of high quality audio these are a good first step. good sound quality good base responce, exept you need to let them loosen up after a month or so of use so get the full out of these headphones
i tryed the hd457s first, they were terrably uncomfortable and didnt sound that good plus i didnt like the fact that they didnt go around the ear, so i RMAed them and got the hd485s after alot of reviewing, couldnt be happyer
you can wear these headphones and they keep your ears warm but not uncofortably warm

Good
Comments: These headphones are good. In the first month i had them, the Bass seemed kind of bad, but after I wore them in a little, the Bass started to get better as the speaker magnets loosened up a little.

Great set of cans!
Comments: Excellent warm response across all ranges. I listen to everything from classical to techno with these and I hear everything the sound technicians want me to hear. I also like the construction, solid and durable with out over engineering. The cord is sturdy with the ear pads and ear pieces being just right for my average size head.
I can’t think of anything bad to say about these smooth headphones. Buy them, you won’t regret it.

Nice headphone!
Comments: This headphone is nice, but not excellent. The mid and high are good, but the bass is not good enough IMHO. Overall it's well worth the money.

Great
Comments: Fantastic Headphones. Great Bass. Good for Rock/Metal/Rap/HipHop. Not really all that great for classical.
Using them with my homemade A47 amp. Big difference compared to previous cans.

Comments: These are spectacular headphones. I owned the HD457s and these are much more superior. They of course sound a lot better but are constructed better. They feel more sturdy and durable, especially the cord. Compare to the 457s, it is about twice as thick and does not give the feeling that it will break (which happen with my 457s). When using these, I have to turn the volume higher than normal because if I don’t, they sound like they are not getting enough power.
The only qualm I have with them is lack of replacement cable. I lost my first one not too long after getting them and was unable to find one on Sennheiser’s website or after talking with their tech support. I bought the HD 465s (which are pretty good also) to replace them and found the same cable fits my HD 485s.
I have been using them for a few months now and love them. They sound fantastic and feel more comfortable than any headphones I have used before. They also look good.

Great value
Comments: Excellent performance for a pair of sub $xxx cans. I listened to several sacd's through these to see what they could do, and was very impressed with the sound, especially at the top end of the spectrum. They are also more than sensitive enough to be driven by an ipod, walkman, etc. I couldn't be happier. Newegg shipping was lightning fast as usual.

Easy 5 stars
Comments: I'm so glad I picked these headphones. They're extremely comfy and they sound great. Before I recieved these, I was using my friend's HD555's for about a week so I've heard quality headphones before. These headphones sound remarkably close to the hd555's. The 555's are more balanced and better mids. The bass on these is awesome. for me, the 485's are more comfortable than the 555's. The headphone holder is pretty sweet too. I HIGHLY recommend these. They sound great in games, music, and movies.

Awsome Headphones!
Comments: These headphones totally blow my old generic ones out of the water. The sound quality is even better than that of my home sterio system! Clear treble and midtones, even the bass is terrific, something seen in few headsets. Although the long cord is rather cumbersome, it allows me to listen to my TV on the headphones from my couch without having to spring for a pair of wireless headphones which are a bit more expensive. I give these headphones 5 eggs and 5 eggs to Newegg and Fedex for their lightning fast shipping and unbeatable price.

Great Headset
Comments: I bought this headset a few weeks ago to go with my new gaming rig. I can honestly say they are worth the money you spend on them.
Playing games with this headset absolutely rules. The sound, as stated before, is very crisp and clear. I personally play a lot of Half-life 2 MODs with them and they work brilliantly.
I read many reviews before spending a lot of money on a headset. Many people said that they forget the headset is on them because it is so comfortable. I was skeptical at first due to how large these headphones are, but they where all right. I too often forget they are even on my head during my long gaming sessions.
Another neat feature is the chord – you can actually remove it from the headset, making it very easy to travel with you. It fits very nicely back into its box, ensuring you wont arrive at your local LAN party with a broken headset (stinks a lot, trust me!).
There are a few (abet small) problems with the headset that might affect purchasing it.
Firstly, there is no volume controller on the headset itself. If you do not use a keyboard or a nice soundcard that lets you change this easily, it could become a hassle. I’d recommend plugging it into a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum, because it has a nice volume changer right on it.
Another problem is the lack of a microphone on the set. If you plan on using your headset for online gaming, usually a microphone is necessary. I would recommend using the Labtec PC Mic 333, which attaches to your monitor, to work around this problem.
This is a solid headset – if you want much better than this you will have to spend a lot more money. I give it a 5/5 because any small problems it has can easily be avoided if you choose your hardware carefully.

Wow...!
Comments: I have the HD515 model which oddly isn't being sold no more(could jus be a temp glitch)
the HD485 though is the same as the 515 just less impedance and frequency response(on the high end)
Let me just say this is the best headset I ever used... I have a huge 5.1 speaker set up and at night I plug my hd515's in and its almost like having 5.1 it feels.. crisp clean bass fused smoothly with clear trebel(sp?). Well worth the price... these are also built for a nuclear blast. Very solid construction and not a bad warrenty either.. 2 years..
