I wish usb cable was included...
Pros: Relatively cheap for a laser printer + scanner. Works like wonder so far...
Cons: Cable not included!!! I dont think it will cost a fortune to Brother to include a $2 USB cable with the printer. Had to make a two hour trip just to buy a measly usb cable..
Other Thoughts: If you buy this printer be sure to order also a usb cable A/B male unless you have another one laying around.

great except when in certain situations
Pros: fast and high quality prints, scans, copies. perfect for the home office or a high demand home user
Cons: when trying to print in economy mode from a browser in my macbook, has a habit of jamming papers and printing solid block of black. happens ONLY in that situation for some reason, across all browsers (Firefox, Safari, Opera)

Excellent All-in-One
Pros: This is an excellent all-in-one unit. Regarding the unit - it is very well built with many features. The ADF is well placed and easy to access. Copies look very crisp and clear. The scanner has many options - scan to email, to fax, to a file, or even OCR. The OCR feature performs above average when given some semi-roughly handled documents to read (some dirt, wrinkles, and writing was on the paper).
The software is very simple and elegant. Users can print to the fax if they desire since the software adds both a regular printer and fax printer to the list.
One of my favorite features is the ability to configure the device from the PC - you can set up the fax information, speed dial, and other functions from a keyboard instead of the AIO display - a big time saver.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I've installed three of these at my company for medium use (moderate faxing, some printing, and a little scanning). So far they have been a success. The employees have figured them out with only a little help from me and are loving them.

Good MFC
Pros: Low price point. Can scan scan via document feeder if you use the WMI driver. That allows you to use legal size as well. Cheap toner.
Cons: Built-in PDF scans don't recognize text automatically, they come in as a pdf image. That makes the file sizes slightly larger and not searchable. You could use OCR conversion but I would like on the fly. Maybe posible with 3rd party software. Have used other scanners which recognize pdf text on the fly, they were scanners only though. No network port.
Other Thoughts: Can make it a network printer and network scanner with additional equipment. I bought XTERASYS XP-111MFP Print Server, Newegg# N82E16833147030. It is network scanning (even using the document feeder) under XP with the default software and this print server.

Great Printer Overall
Pros: Easy installation Compact size Great printing speed with fast warm-up from standby Scanner/copier works well; copying is fast also
Cons: Paper output rolls the paper vertically inwards after printing. This is can cause a problem if printing double-sided, because the paper can sometimes be too curved for the printer to take it up correctly the second time.
Other Thoughts: All in all, great value for the functions.

great
Pros: we're a homeschooling family - we make lots of copies and print lots of pages off the computer - needed -- we were going through ink jet cartridges nearly monthly. (our other printer is a c*non w/ a chip - no generic ink :( )
Cons: none so far (only wish i had gotten the networked one but it was +$100 more)

HP KILLER
Pros: Incredible bang for your buck. Reasonable toner pricing. Great Performance. Plug and Play, with Vista without any additional software or drivers (best solution).
Cons: Included software is the only con. Install the driver only. The scanning software and OCR software are horrible. If you intend to create PDF's, by Adobe Acrobat or a competitor, and use the Import feature.
Other Thoughts: I wasnt sure this printer would last for the price, but I've had two now, in heavy office use and so far so good.
This is a great alternative to HP's way overpriced printers. FIGHT THE POWER!

Best MFC for the price
Pros: Fast, easy on toner; the software oddly enough doesn't suck (other than the fact that it's a PPC app and I have an Intel Mac). Stack five pages in the sheet feeder, click Scan in the software, and you'll get a five-page PDF, no nonsense. Couldn't be easier. The scanning bed flips up to reveal enough room to empty the paper tray into the printed area.
Cons: A little noisy, but nothing compared to the Epson inkjet it replaced.
Other Thoughts: It's a Consumer Reports Best Buy, and for good reason. The only issue I've had is it locked up, and the LCD instructed me to restart it and wait 10 minutes. I restarted it, it showed a countdown clock starting at 9:59, and it started running again 10 minutes later. Weird.

Perfect!
Pros: Great price, great quality. Fast printing (no long warm-up) and convenient ADF. Easy to install/use. Well-thought interface. This is exactly what I needed in my home office!
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: This is much better than toner-guzzling Lexmark or problematic Sumsung. Replacement toner/drum for Brother cost much lower than others, too. I'd highly recomment this to anyone who's looking for a great reliable, yet affordable laser MFC.
Thanks NewEgg!

Better than HP
Pros: * Laser printer at an Inkjet printer price. * Toner that is cheaper than xx inkjet cartridges. * Great print quality * Very fast printing. * Automatic Document Feeder!! * Easy to use, good documentation.
Cons: No cons at all. If it doesnt break inside of 2-3 years it will be the best tech purchase I've ever made.
Other Thoughts: I'm an I.T. manager so I get to know a lot of products and after getting fed up with xx printers breaking down, as if timed to do so, I started looking for a better manufacturer.
This is my first Brother product, so it still has to pass the test of time, but on all other measures, this printer outperforms xx printers on all levels - especially price!

Decent printer, Excellent value
Comments: Printing: Impressive print speed. Excellent print quality for text and simple graphics. Large areas of solid gray or black tend to be uneven and banded, which makes photos and some large graphics look bad.
Copying: Quick and good quality; doesn't require computer to be on/connected. Copies and black & white scans fail to register light blues and greens, but this is a minor complaint. In the rare case where this is a problem, you can make a color scan and then print out the resulting image.
Scanning: This is not a scanner for anyone who cares about speed or color accuracy (Duh!), but it is possible to coax fair-to-medium quality images from it if you take some time. Green and purple fringing of B/W text and graphics is horrible at lower scan resolutions, but only moderate at max resolution. Color accuracy would not be too bad, except that some colors are almost comically oversaturated. For example, pale yellow scans in as day-glow canary yellow. This can be fixed in any decent photo editor, but it wastes time and slightly degrades image quality. Resolution is 1200x600 DPI color, 2400x600 B/W. The "enhanced" 9600 DPI spec is, to put it bluntly, a lie.
Speed: Startup, print, and copy speeds seem good and snappy to me. B/W scan speed is okay. High resolution color scans are slow, over 4 minutes (!) for an 8.5x11 inch page. That can be a significant limitation, because high resolution is the only thing that helps the color-fringing problem. Don't even *think* of using the parallel interface if you plan on scanning frequently; that 4 minute scan using USB turns into a 20+ minute scan with the parallel port (and yes, I had the port in ECP mode).
Software: Not bad for a free bundle. The "Control Center" seemed silly to me at first, but it does allow you to set up pre-defined scan and copy options that you can trigger from the front panel of the printer, without having to open up a separate program on the computer. PaperPort is basically an OCR and file format converter pretending to be a Document Management System, but I am amazed at how good it is turning printed documents and spreadsheets into Word and Excel documents. I haven't used any OCR software in a while, though, so maybe my standards are low.
Noise: The fan makes a pretty good whoosh when starting up and printing, and the copy/scan head makes a WadaWadaWada sound that is annoying but not loud. It's been fine for me, but don't expect to print or scan anything if your roommate is sleeping in the same room (unless of course you don't mind waking up your roommate).
Paper Handling: I can’t believe how many features this thing has, given its price. The paper input and output trays, the document feeder, and the flatbed glass/lid are all lightweight, but they work and they don’t seem flimsy. The flatbed lid is not removable, but it does have floating hinges that allow magazines and thin books to be put on the glass without stressing the lid. The output tray – more of an output slot, really – seems badly designed at first, until you realize that the whole top of the printer opens up like a clamshell, allowing you to get at small format pages. Printing on envelopes curls them a fair amount, but even expensive printers often do that. I haven’t had any curling problems with normal paper.
Other: The unit creates a pronounced power glitch when it powers on or prints; all the fluorescent lights in this end of the house dim noticeably for just a fraction of a second. This may have more to do with my electrical system than with the printer, but I haven’t noticed this severe a problem with other appliances, even refrigerators and hairdryers. The power management kicks in when the printer is idle for a few minutes, and it’s smart enough to leave the print engine asleep when you scan without printing.
All in all I’m pretty happy with my purchase, and NewEgg delivered it faster than I would have thought humanly possible.

Great for home/small office use
Comments: This has been the exactly right tool for a busy family with several organizations we participate in. The print quality is outstanding, the ADF works great and is a huge time saver, and with my photo printer, I can produce all manner of professional looking documents.
Highly recommended

Great printer
Comments: The printer lives up to it's promise. From sleep mode, it's prints in about 8 seconds. Print is good, scanning my color photos to .jpg if quick. Only minor complaint, the paper does have a little curl in it after it prints, though it will lay flat after it sits a while. The printer is very quiet. Great price for this do it all printer.
